A wonderful, entertaining story. Highly recommended!
I went to medical school with the author. He advised me that the purpose of his work was to inspire and entertain. With "Johnny Bright, Champion" he has done precisely that. I found the book to be very enjoyable and recommend it for everyone. If you are looking for a nice "feel good" story, this is one that should fulfill your need. While this story is technically a biographical novel, it closely follows the "real" story of Johnny Bright, whose career was analogous to that of Jackie Robinson. If Johnny Bright had chosen to play in the National Football League rather than the Canadian Football League, his name would, undoubtedly be of greater recognition at this time. Disappointing Rehash
This book is simply a rehash of quite a bit of past recollections of the great Vince Lombardi that are culled from previous works. Anyone who is a Lombardi affecionado will learn very little that is new. Also, in several passages of recollections there are no mention of Lombardi at all. Strange to say the least. "Pappy" Not Sappy!
Recently, I had the pleasure of reading Mr. Cameron's tome of Lynn Waldorf. Having lived after "Pappy's" reign as a coach and a as a coach myself, I found out, interestingly enough, how little the game has changed. There still is the organization and planning of a program, the intense rivalry and competion, sacrifice, the desire to be a part of something bigger than yourself and the realization that football is just a stepping stone for life. If you know a true "student of the game", coach, player or amateur football "historian", this is a great gift and a fantastic and inspiring read. I wish I played for Coach Waldorf. ... Read more

Reggie White is a football player who shows his faith in God. In this book it teaches about God. And about the amazing life of Reggie White. I enjoyed reading it because I like football and it was exciting and fun.

Wasn't there supposed to be some football involved?
Hmmm... ever read one of those books that you THOUGHT was going to be about football, and instead it turned out to be a maudlin diatribe of religious proselytization? Oh, then you read this book ,too, huh?

This book was mostly a waste of time. If you like football, you'll be disapointed by the lack of the sport included in it's pages. If you like the Eagles, you'll be upset at the way Reggie verbally trashes them in this book.

I don't recommend it for anyone with a serious love of the game. If you're a Bible-thumping religion nut, then this book is right up your alley. ... Read more
