Book Description

Wilma Wake recounts her own remarkable transformation as she followed her inner voice over the last three decades.Rejecting her parents' traditional Christianity, moving through Eastern and New Age philosophies, and now embracing a relationship with the Divine that stresses social commitment, Wake reflects the longings and confusions that are part of growing to spiritual maturity.

A car crash in 1972 left Wake in constant pain, pain that led her to yoga and breathing exercises.Deep, mystical experiences began to arise that troubled her rational mind. She underwent strange, psychic states of consciousness and sought to understand the mystical forces causing them.Wake studied Christian and Sufi mysticism, participated in Unitarian-Universalism and Episcopalianism, and finally found her perfect home in the Swedenborgian Church, which offered rational explanations for her nonrational experiences. ... Book Description

This is the story of a soul through this, and several past lifetimes. The narrator takes us from a view of Genesis at the hands of transcendentally evolved extra-terrestrials, through the fall of Sodom and Gomorrah, the near murder of Isaac at the hand of Abraham, Exodus through the aegis of a huge, inter-dimensional star-craft, and the story of King David's love affair with Jonathan. He then proceeds to narrate his life time spent as Elijah the Tishbite, reminding us that, "the things that you're liable to read in the Bible, they ain't necessarily so." He recounts a couple of lifetimes spent as a Spartan warrior, only to return to the cauldron of the Middle East as John the Baptist. The commonality of all these lives, as well as his present one is, "the love that dares not say its name."Now, he's had all he's going to take, thank you, and the world is going to know the truth. It is precisely as Jesus said: Know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Well, assuming they don't kill you first. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An unequalled spiritual biography.
Stories with miracles have always enthralled me. The books of Paramahansa Yoganananda, Swami Muktananda, Ramana Maharshi, The New Testament and zen masters have always given me a glimpse into the happiness and greatness of God beyond the ordinary life I am seeming to suffer. The greatest book of miracles and divine play that I have ever read is The Promised God-Man is Here by Carolyn Lee. It is about my spiritual master, Adi Da Samraj, and is simply filled with stories that raised the hair on the back of my neck and gave me goosebumps with the great wonder that Real God (as Adi Da Samraj describes the Divine) is presently alive on this planet and is aching to giving His great gift of Happiness to all who turn to Him. For a great read for anybody interested in spiritual stories I heartily recommend The Promised God-Man Is Here.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pushpaka.com Recommended...
A bold title. The Promised God-Man Is Here, by Carolyn Lee, Ph.D, is a testament to the life and evolution of Adi Da Samraj. Adi Da Samraj is a Spiritual Master whose life has seen numerous turns, and several incarnations of his own spiritual identity, as one should expect from a teacher of spiritual development. As you read this book, you start to get a hint of the sincerity this Spiritual Teacher has put into His own search for Truth, only to find that His own Path was to become an extrememly Bright example for the people who have accepted Him as their Guru. Adi Da's teachings have grown into a literal way of life, and his own recognition of the Divine essence is easily a bold, bright step towards the public dissemination of the knowledge of True God. He has become The True Guru. This book made a tremendous impact on me. It, and the examples of Adi Da's teachings, have also forced me to look at my own mental conditioning within society, and my spiritual belief structures. A good hard look worth taking. A book I would very highly recommend for seekers of spiritual truth and awakening.

5-0 out of 5 stars the teaching is one thing, the teacher, quite another
There are two things I "got" when reading the Promised God-Man is here --
1.Compelling spiritual insights
2.And the seemingly hypocritical egotism of the guru

there are concerns --Ken Wilber probably says it best -- Wilber stated he believes in Adi Da's divine realization and supports his teachings, but he does not recommend that anyone join the isolated Daist community. Wilber believes that the guru's "crazy wisdom" is taken to an extreme, as many others have claimed. Yet, he remains a loyal disciple and encourages others to take advantage of Adi Da's great spiritual insights and writings.

Years ago, Wilber wrote the endorsement for Adi Da's book "The Dawn Horse Testament" as well as an introduction for "Scientific Proof of the Existence of God Will Soon be Announced by the White House!" More recently, he has written that these are still great spiritual treatises, but he claims the "teaching is one thing, the teacher, quite another." (Ken Wilber, "The Case of Adi Da" )

Please consider these things when reading this book...

5-0 out of 5 stars This vast compilation is a gift!
What Carolyn Lee, Ph.D., has done through the 856 pages of "The Promised God-Man is Here" is nothing short of miraculous. To actually chronicle the entire life and blessing work of Adi Da Samraj, and his influence in the world, would take literally 100's of these types of books. In this book, Carolyn Lee condenses pertinent periods and highlights of Adi Da's life, and takes you through an unparalleled journey that ultimately points you to what is promised in the title, that the God-Man is here! Carolyn wrote this book to introduce you to Adi Da. If you have been given the title to this book, it is not by accident. Just for this moment, suspend your doubt, suspicion, and frustration, and take the time to read it. It will surely lead you to Him.

5-0 out of 5 stars What It Means To Be The God-Man
I'm a devotee of Adi Da Samraj so I already understand what a god-man is and accept the fact that Adi Da Samraj is such a being. But one of the many virtues of The Promised God-Man Is Here, I think, is that if you aren't familiar with the idea of the god-man you will be long before you finish this book. To have gained that alone from reading this biography feels liberating. I also like this book because it shows, in a style both intelligent and entertaining, how Adi Da has used his own Enlightenment in the service of mankind and in particular his devotees. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars An inspiring telling of one man's tale
I actually ran into this book by accident, which just adds to its significance. It is an easy reader for sure. But this is really about realizing that there is more to this world than we realize, especially when so many of us are busy in todays world. Dr. Pappas takes the time to explore his experiences and what he finds along the way. I found this book to be a true inspiration to seek out more from this life. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Swimming In Trees: A Story of Soul
Swimming In Trees: A Story of Soul, by Maria Stokes Katzenbach, is not an easy book. It is intriguing--once started, it can't be put aside to finish later. It is powerful, and mind-changing. It is compelling, and unique. But it is not easy.

Katzenbach says "my book is about overcoming my fear of madness." She adds that "I probably had to become crazy, in some way, and survive it before I could overcome that fear."

She turned her spiritual journey into a story in order to heal herself and embrace all that she is, including the goddess within. Through storytelling she found "my soul--my murdered soul. Alive." She learns the eternal truth of birth, death, rebirth.

Set in the Hudson Valley of New York state, much of the story occurs at the local Y, a place that is both a sanctuary and an asylum for women. Katzenbach's story is filled with unforgettable characters, like Manda, who has been running for 27,000 years, Rulla, the "Queen of the Y," and Benjamin, who understands far more than most five-year-olds. Katzenbach expertly weaves together individual and community forces to reach a startling, yet inevitable, denouement. She says "if my book opens the door to [when] women will all tell their own stories of soul, in their own voice, then Swimming In Trees will have done for others what it did for me..." Swimming in Trees: A Story of Soul is a woman's book for women who struggling to recover their souls. While it may not be an easy read, it's a good, rewarding read. ... Read more

Book Description

Charles Thomas Cayce, eldest grandchild of Edgar Cayce, and Jeanette Thomas, administrator of the A.R.E. records and archives, have brought together a definitive collection of letters from and to Edgar Cayce that illuminate the man and his God-given talents as a "psychic diagnostician."

This unique and compelling collection provides a firsthand look at Edgar Cayce's efforts to use his gift in service to others; his struggles with financial hardships and sometimes-public humiliation; and his efforts to reconcile the information that came through him on topics such as reincarnation, Atlantis, and astrology with his devoutly Christian beliefs.

Cayce's letters show, as no other documents can, how his psychic gift drove him, against all odds and many setbacks, towards his dream for "the Work" -- the development of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, which has preserved his work and made it accessible to all. ... Read more

Book Description

What is it that makes Eileen Caddy special? Here is a woman whose words have inspired and changed millions, and yet it is her very "ordinariness" that has helped so many to relate to her words. She is a woman of her time, with a gentle, feminine and powerful soul. Eileen does not strive to be perfect or different, she is comfortable being "divinely ordinary." And yet she is also much more than that. She constantly displays a willingness and commitment to do whatever is asked of her by her guidance. Now in her eighties, beginning to experience the frailties of her age, she still is the first person meditating in the Findhorn Sanctuary before dawn every morning, listening to her "still small voice within" as she has done for nearly 50 years. She listens, and then she acts.

What Eileen has always managed to do best is inspire others to strive for the highest; she expects us to be the best we can be, to listen to our own inner voice and to use our talents in service to our planet and to each other. We are all ordinary, and in essence we are all divine. We are part of the unconditionally loving spirit that guides our lives. Eileen is a shining example of what we seek to be, and she needs no pedestal, no admiration, no gratitude. If we, who have read and loved her words, connect with our spirit, make positive changes in our lives and embody the unconditional love we seek, then she has done her job very well indeed.

This book allows you to appreciate Eileen’s ordinary, extraordinary life. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars A waste of money
I've lived 52 years and this is the worst book I've ever read. It has spelling errors and misuse of the English language on every other page. The book is double spaced so it's actually half a book. All this could have been forgiven if it had an interesting story to tell - it didn't. I spent $25 on this book and am writing this review to keep others from wasting their money.I ended up throwing it out - something I've never done with a book.Didn't anyone edit this book????
