1-0 out of 5 stars Sick-making
Handle with caution! This book is exceedingly dangerous for diabetics

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a tremendous little book.
I purchased this book for my collection when it was first published. I also purchased one for a neighbor who had suffered a stroke which left her paralized on the left side. She loved this book as much as I did. Each time I visit her she mentions this book. Unfortunately, there are not many books which can accommodate a person in this position.

It is a beautiful, little book which utilizes many of Diana's sayings which she uttered during her brief lifetime. These sayings are interspered with beautiful poetry. Also, there author makes flowers a central theme in the book.

I highly recommend this book for everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A lovely book of rememberance about Diana
I was pleasantly surprised when I read this book. It's a collection of Diana's sayings during her life, interspersed with poetry from the 15th and 16th centuries, and tributes to the princess. The illustrations are beautiful. The author has chosen flowers, a symbol of Diana's funeral grieving. I like this book because it's something I can turn to at any time in order to remember the things Diana said, and she had plenty to say about family values, probably making some of the more significant statements about our life and times that have been made in recent years. I am a family person and I fouind myself relating very much to many of the things she said about values and children and suffering. This is not a scandal book about the princess, but one that reveres her memory. I liked it very much. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Portrait of Diana¿s Early Years
This is a beautiful full color picture book that gives many pages of respectable information that focuses on Diana, Charles and their two precious children, when they were small.

It covers Diana and Charles' activities, hobbies, trips, adventures, and their life being the parents of William and Harry when they were small.

I bought this book in 1987, and it has held up beautifully. You can see Diana coming into her own, as well as her devotion to her husband and children. From pony rides to speaking engagements, charitable work, and life both at home and abroad, you will find a most beautiful portrayal in this book.

Highly recommended as a treasure for your library. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Some good photos, some history not a must have book
A large collection of photos of the late Princess, many of them very good, most of them you'll have in some other book. I'd say buy it if you're building up a collection but if you have a tight book budget this might be one to leave off if you already have some picture books. The history part is interesting too, in the same way, and may have a small error or two in it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A "must have" book for Diana fans.
Diana, an English Rose is not just another picture book. Skinner's writing is lively, amusing and insightful, a very balenced account of Diana, Princess of wales amazing life and the impact of her death. I'm sure Diana would have given it 5 stars. I own nearly every book written about her and this book definitely completes my collection. ... Read more

Book Description

In April of 1992 John L. Van der Heyden registered a trademark for courses, trainings and education at the Benelux Trade Registrar in The Hague with the name Instituto Cervantes and founded the Foundation Cervantes Benelux. Four years later, on the 31st of July he invited the Crown Princes of The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg and Spain to become the government of the foundation. The next day -- the first of August -- Van der Heyden went to England and lighted a candle at Canterbury Cathedral. From that time it became clear to him that Princess Diana was also interested in his project. How things developed from that time is explained in Letters to Diana, Princess of Wales. The story ends with the fatal kidnapping in Paris, exactly four weeks before Diana and Van der Heyden's proposed wedding day in The Netherlands. ... Read more

Book Description

In between her fairy-tale wedding and her premature death, there lived the most beloved royal presence of our century, surely as multifaceted as any celebrity of our time. The radical twists and turns in her brief life drew the fascination of millions. Yet the most photographed woman in the world was also the least quoted--her actual words were seldom heard, and never gathered, until now.

This unique book is the result of a scrupulous worldwide search for every one of Diana's significant quotes. Upon reading this collection, one will find that behind her shy veneer dwelled a woman of extraordinary resourcefulness, stamina, and, perhaps above all, vulnerability. In fact, her open frankness about the events and people around her is both disarming and startling. The reader will discover the sharp clarity, endless warmth, and ready wit that she brought to her legendary life in this intimate self-portrait. This is the closest we will ever get to an autobiography from the People's Princess. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Source Book
It's longer than most books of quotes from the Princess because Mr Adler presents the sweet and the sour.

The loving, the difficulties and the humor of Diana in her own words

People say those who love Diana believe she was a saint. No, she was far too interesting for that.

She's loved because she was entirety and gloriously human , and allowed it to show.

We are all works in progress. But imagen being the Priness of Wales and yet insisting on being yourself as well?

This book covers the terrain well ... Read more

Book Description

Mourning Diana revisits the remarkable series of public events that occurred across the world following the tragic death of Princess Diana, from the spontaneous public gatherings right after the news broke to the official funeral ceremonies. The book takes the Diana events as a case study for the examination of a number of key questions in contemporary culture and within contemporary cultural and performance studies. The editors have brought together a distinguished group of international contributors whom:
*view the Diana events as a case study of wider cultural processes and questions
*discuss a range of interdisciplinary concerns informed by cultural studies, performance studies, gender, sexuality, and sociology
*provide a substantive theory of the power relations of mourning, social drama, iconicity and cultural narration
*explore how the boundaries of the mainstream seemed to shift in the wake of Diana events, and how the questions of institutional privilege, social dispossession and cultural power which Diana embodied were brought to the forefront in the global reaction to her death

In a context in which considerable dispute has taken place over the meanings and seriousness of the Diana events, the publication of this serious, reflective, and sober critique speaks to and re-addresses this controversy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A thoughtful analysis of the global reaction to Dianas death
Any fan of Diana's will know why they mourned her passing. This book however is fascinating for it's analysis of those mourners who said things like "I never knew how much Diana meant to me until she died" and "I cried more at her death than at my own father's". Why did Diana's death have such an enormous impact on a global scale, even for people who claimed not to have liked her during her lifetime? It was more than just pity at the way a young life had been taken too soon. This book is an excellent examination of the huge significance of the gobal mourning and grief that was displayed in 1997. ... Read more

From the supplier: The questions raised by US journalists Thomas Sancton and Scott MacLeod after Princess Diana's death were disrespectful of the sanctity of princess' corpse. The questions include whether she was pregnant by Dodi Fayed during the time of her death and if she could have been saved had she reached the hospital earlier.
