Flo Jo and the Funny Suits
(3 elementary students: ...): It's a very interesting book. It tells about Flo Jo's one-legged suits and her unique personal style. It inspires people never to give up on something you love a lot. There were times when Flo Jo was worried she wouldn't be able to compete, but somehow she perservered through the difficult times. In this book you will find out that Flo Jo made many new world records in running. (We don't understand how she could sign autographs with her six-inch long fingernails!!) Flo Jo wasn't allowed to run in the hand off relay because her fingernails were too long. In the end, the the coaches let her keep them (the second time). We would recommend this book for people who are looking for a good biography and love running. We think the reading level for this book is appropriate for grades 3 and up, or as a Read Aloud for grades 2 and up. ... Read more

Informative! Interesting! Easy to Read!
It's about time women are recognized for their outstanding sports achievements. This book hightlights the top women sprinters in history. It describes the hardships and triumphs these magnificent athletes endured. The author does an excellent job of keeping the readers interest.

not very good
this book was written by an author well known for writting about the NHL, hockey. soccer and hockey are worlds apart, the book seems aimed at american audiences who do not know much about soccer, actually do not know anything about soccer.
the book contains no real facts, it is like a summary of ronaldo's life, news i could get off tabloids.
what really frustrated me though is how the author keeps calling a shot a punch! if you strike the ball it can be called many things, shot, kick, fired, scored even blasted, but for gods sake not "Punched" punched emplies using your hand, nobody used their hands in soccer..............except ofcourse the goalkeeper, which by the way is called goal tender in this book (its the hockey thing i tell you)
overall i think i've wasted my money, the book is a disgrace to one of the worlds best strikers, it is written in a horrid way as well, and worse off really has no solid facts, no why, where when. just a brief summary.

Keano - one of the very best!
Roy Keane is undoubtably one of the greatest football players currently playing, and his life outside the game is equally enjoyable to follow. His intensity and larger-than-life persona on and off the pitch make any bio of Keano worth a read.

Pure Tightness
This is the best book I've ever read.It tells all about Captain Tightness.This is a more choice novel than Catcher in the rye.Roy Keane is a better role model than Holden Caulfield ever was.Captain Tightness will teach you and your kids how to cleat the opponent without getting caught (or carded ha ha ha).

Thug-life

Arrogant, but has cause to be
Brian Clough is one of the most enigmatic figures to grace the manager's hotseat in recent decades. As both player and manager with clubs like Middlesborough, Sunderland, Derby and Nottingham Forrest, who he guided to back-to-back European titles, Clough's arrogance was perhaps only matched by his sheer brilliance, and it is this combination of arrogance and brilliance which certainly comes across in his fairly controversial novel.

Not afraid to brutally attack his detractors - whom he has a legion of due to his brash and abrasive nature - Clough is honest, rough but writes with a passion that cannot help but grip the reader. He relates stories about some of the legendary figures of the game, both on and off the field, and gives his honest appraisal of the role of the manager as he saw it - preferring to play down the importance of 'coaching' players as such and focussing more on the true qualities of 'managing' them.

Clough is brutal, honest, funny and incisive with his comments, and this sets his book apart from so many other sporting autobiographies and makes it a worthy read.

A good read from old "big mouth". He comes across as the arrogant, self confident, single minded man that made him a great manager and great entertainment.
