But if you like this book, you'll love Rene's newest book for your prospects. It is called The New Entrepreneurs: Making a Living - Making a Life in Network Marketing. It does all the work for you to help anyone looking at network marketing overcome their resistance and seriously consider the industry without prejudice. Check it out. It's a book you'll find hard not to read in one sitting. And, although it is a business book, the stories are from the heart. I highly recommend The New Entrepreneurs as a means of building your network marketing business and Your First Year in Network Marketing once you've joined as a training tool. This will spare you the grief by teaching you what to do and, as important, what not to do.
My problem is that the book, to appeal to as wide an audience as possible, is far too generic. They recommend against hotel meeting room presentations; well, my company isn't set up for this. They recommend against the uplines doing the work for their frontlines. Great advice we all need to heed, but my business is run almost 100% over the internet, that's just not applicable. A good, good book I wish I'd read 13 years ago (it wasn't out then, of course), but which I feel is too vanilla. Regardless, I still recommend it to my downline when they join.
Mark Yarnell shows how to earn a high income in this business. My only complaint is the title, it is not just for newbies or your first year. As a veteran in this industry, I found some things I never knew before and was reminded of some things I forgot. Great book by Mr. Yarnell.
Think and Grow Rich: "You become what you think about," Remember it! People all over the world have made Network Marketing their "home". It's the best way to earn a living, while giving you the most freedom. This book is a great source of information and it will help any beginner to succeed. There is of course work involved, but join a company that has a great up-line, working w/ the best and getting the best training and support and you will achieve extra-ordinary results. The reason why most people fail in MLM companies is because of the lack of training. If you got a J.O.B and the boss said; "Okay there is your desk, get to work" and provided no training, how long would you stay there? I would recommend working for a nutrition company. Why? For three reasons: 1) because you will earn a great amount of money. 2) You will improve your health and 3) you will help others improve their lives. Some of my customers would say, "Those are expensive vitamins" and I would say, compared to what? Heart disease, Strokes, Cancer, or Diabetes? I would say you are getting a bargain. All vitamins are not created equal. If you trust the regular store to your nutritional needs. I would consider going to the Veterinarian for your health care.

| 3. A New Brand World: 8 Principles for Achieving Brand Leadership in the 21st Century by Scott Bedbury, Stephen Fenichel, Stephen Fenichell | |

Book Description Reviews (8)
No doubt that Scott Bedbury's work is a fast paced read, his writing is lucid and quite frequently quotably light-hearted. There is a lot of material here for people in larger corporations or even general marketing folks. And where Bedbury truly shines is in the case studies he presents in the 8 chapters. But if, like me, you set off on this book looking for some newfangled insights into the world of branding, then this is not the book for you. The title claims to proffer "8 principles". Let's face it, at the end of the day, principles are not that hard to create and this becomes quite painfully clear when you reach the end of this book and wonder if you have learnt anything new. But I am being unfairly critical. From his style, it seems an approachable business book was precisely what Bedbury's intended? As a comprehensive introduction to the field of branding, I'd still recommend "Strategic Brand Asset Management" by Keller. For a discussion of some innovative yet reasonable forms of brand creation, especially on a shoestring, I'd usually point to a PR related book, or perhaps the rapier wit "60-minutes Brand Strategist." But as a gentle introduction for executives in to the nebulous world of branding, or as a non-technical business book for business folk in general who place less emphasis on a structured analytical framework and are more interested in a soft springboard into the field, then "Emotional Branding" and this book from Bedbury are pretty near the top of my list of recommendations. Very accessible and insightful stuff, if you aren't expecting a summary of last decade's JCR.
The principles are good, but you can read about most of them in any college marketing textbook.
His bias is clear. Microsoft parted ways with Scott Bedbury's favorite ad agency, Weiden & Kennedy, with whom Scott spent untold millions of dollars -- perhaps hundreds of millions -- as a Nike exec, convincing urban American youth that his shoes built with child labor at poverty wages were worth hundreds of dollars. Bedbury says that W&K "resigned" Microsoft but my understanding was that Microsoft didn't like W&K's work.. nor did the consumers watching it. Contrary to Bedbury's comments, Microsoft's campaigns were not watched over by clueless engineers but by a career Procter & Gamble man, Bob Herbold. Bob and P&G are not fools when it comes to advertising, handing over cash to glitzy agencies and fawning over their results. He followed each campaign with rigorous testing. The W&K ads tested poorly with consumers and really looked cold and impersonal. As I recall, they looked a lot like... tiresome Nike ads. Perhaps W&K is a one-trick pony or maybe they're just more comfortable selling shoes. Bedbury suggests that Microsoft is the laughing stock of the advertising world and "couldn't buy" good advertising if it wanted to. Really? Visit the latest Interbrand brand rankings at BusinessWeek's site ( August 4 edition) to view the top 10 most valuable brands. Microsoft is #2 behind Coca Cola (and would have beaten Coke had it not been for antitrust issues eroding the brand value). Curiously, I don't see Nike or Scott's Starbucks anywhere on the top ten list. Nike is in the 30s, and Starbucks almost at the bottom of the top 100. Clearly Microsoft has figured out how to build a brand without spending all their money on television advertising or employing small children. Perhaps that's threatening to ravenous advertising agencies and execs like Bedbury who spent so much of the shareholder's money on television advertising aimed at kids who have very little money to spend. ... Anne and Erin, professors at the Kellogg School and INSEAD respectively, are the two lead authors. So be forewarned -- this is an academic textbook. It's challenging, rigorous, and thought provoking. The sixth edition is organized around a comprehensive framework for channel strategy. Each chapter walks through a different element of the framework. This approach integrates a wide range of material while making it easy to sample just the strategic topics that are relevant to your business. Here are a few of my favorite sections in this book: - Chapter 3 describes a methodology for segmenting customers in a channel. (Namely, focus on how end-user customers buy and what value they seek from their channel. Don't simply measure which products they buy or who they are.) - Chapters 7 and 10 present frameworks to analyze two common channel strategy decisions - Should we sell direct or use distributors? How many distributors should we authorize? - Chapter 11 is a wonderful and practical synthesis of Erin's 20+ years of research on creating effective and profitable strategic alliances in distribution. - Chapter 14 demonstrates how their channel strategy framework applies to electronic channels. (There are many excellent e-commerce examples throughout the book.) - Chapter 15 provides a great overview of the fundamental issues facing the wholesale distribution channel. It's a dramatic improvement over previous editions of this book. The book is also chock-full of detailed case studies and examples from a wide range of industries, both domestic and international. Marketing Channels is a must-own for anyone who thinks strategically about marketing channels and supply chains. As both a channel strategy consultant and one of Erin's former students, I can personally vouch for the validity of their insights into channel strategy. You will not be disappointed by the quality and rigor of thinking in this book. The book also has its own website , although there is not very much content on the site yet.
This is the 5th edition of the original book that developed the theories that explain the structure and behavior of marketing channels. There is still nothing better. For those who understand the significance of channels, it provides a clear roadmap for the analysis of changes. For those who do not, it will explain channel member behavior and illuminate recent successes due to channel management (Walmart, Dell Computer), so that you can understand how the lessons can be applied to your business. I recommend this book to all business managers, not just to read once, but to keep in your office and refer to often through the years in order to navigate the high seas of channel change. ... Were's WROX when you need them? :-)
I don't usually like MS Press books, but this one really stood out. The book contains recipes for building e-commerce applications of various sizes and considerations, especially when coupled with the Commerce Server help file (a must have). I was able to use this book on the job. It also explains what the Commerce Server is good for as well as some of its shortcomings (e.g., the book suggests building standalone Customer Service pages for bigger web sites as opposed to using the BizDesk). The book covers areas that many books neglect even to mention: gathering business and technical requirements, software and hardware caching, data migration from If you are planning to just skim through the book, the "Note" sections contain useful advice and gotcha's. I highly recommended this book!! ... Read more

I actually tried to talk David out of the whole endeavour almost three years ago, not because I didn't think he was qualified, but because I didn't think it was possible to write such a book covering all the Financials modules. I think he'd admit he underestimated just how much work it would be. That's one reason why a book like this hasn't been written before - there is just so much information to cover, unless you resort to wholesale cutting and pasting from the manuals and other people's papers. I think the book is very impressive. I know David's skills, and I know how hard he worked to put everything together, and update it as the product evolved. I would recommend it to anyone working on a Financials implementation.

A lot of myths and misconceptions abound in this industry, these two gentlemen offer the facts. Network marketing is growing by leaps and bounds and The New Professionals explains why.
For example, King and Robinson provide statistics to show why direct marketing is a robust and very efficient model for introducing some products into the market place. And, they show why the type of person involved in network marketing today is truly a professional: "Of key interest, the research found 'successful (direct and network marketing) sales people have a communication style or social style that encourages the building of relationships with their customers . . . The most successful sales leaders have a combination of relationship and task orientation' (in their communication styles)." Network Marketing and multilevel marketing are synonymous terms. They are defined by a business model which pays commissions on multiple levels of the sales organization. Network Marketing/Selling differs from Direct Selling in that Network Marketing: 1. Focuses on relationships rather than on closing the sale or booking an order The role of the network marketing channel is to accelerate the movement of products using the most efficient distribution technique: word-of-mouth communication. This is an excellent book to bring you up to date on the network marketing phenominon and to understand the new business models (yes, there are many).
Don't believe the other customer reviews, and don't waste your money on this book. There must be better books out there than this one. I am also shocked at the number of people who endorse this book on the back cover. I wonder how many of them actually read it. One of the worst books I have ever read.

Book Description Reviews (13)
The author doesn't try bore the reader with idealistic philosphy, or impress academia with research and statistics. The book is written in easy-to-read, easy-to-follow reality, using worldly examples by a main "character" to teach. The "250-by-250" rule explained is worth its weight in gold. This book is a must-read for those in their first two years in sales, and a terrific resource for veterans who need to refresher, or a new outlook, on the principles of referrals.Well written!
We have to believe it will work, not hope it will. Systems are usually simple, but rarely easy. That's the catch. We know what we should do, but we give up before it has a chance to work. The best time to try something new and innovative is when the status quo isn't working. What have you got to lose? Move past the things that are holding you back. Like many people, I hate cold calling. Those who are good at handling rejection can make a go of it. To them, it's a numbers game. Make 100 calls, schedule 5 meetings, close 1 sale. Zig Ziglar is a popular cold-calling sales guru. If cold calling makes you cringe and dread the day's work, this book was written for you. Tim Templeton provides a systematic approach that anyone can implement. It will work if you have the following criteria. 1) You want to work with the gifts and personality you already have, rather than changing who you are for conducting business. 2) You are willing to dedicate yourself to the process for a specific amount of time - no more, no less. You'll see some results almost immediately, but you'll need about 10 weeks to fully implement the system. You'll see breakthrough, sustainable results in about four months. That may seem like a lot of time to invest, but when you can jump-start your career so dramatically, it isn't really a lot to go through. And you aren't working the system all day every day. If you can invest two hours a day, you can change your life. Here's how it works. 1) Discover what type of personality you are and decide to use it for the greatest benefit 2) Build a list of 250 people who know you, and use technology to manage it 3) Offer your assistance to people, and help them whenever you can 4) Connect with them consistently, personally, and systematically (The book will show you how easy it is) 5) Let them know how you work, and how they can refer people to you, who are in need of your services The key is to NOT ask for a sale until you have built up personal credibility with a contact. That's where the systematic, personal, consistent communication works its magic. In the end, clients and prospects will often call you, or at least welcome your call with open arms. What could be better than that? That's all I'll give up. Buy the book.
I am a business owner, and as such am constantly on the prowl for ways to make my life easier, more efficient, and of course, more profitable! Having read hundreds of books on marketing and business development, I quickly recognized this book as one of the best. Here's some of the reasons why: Do yourself a favor and buy this book today. Then get busy using the system. It's that simple. So get to it!! ... Read more

Book Description Reviews (6)
Robert Bly has written Business To Business Direct Marketing to offer a serious look at targeting other businesses. Special attention is needed to target fellow business people. Business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketing requires two very different approaches. Bly points out that businesses must buy a variety of merchandise to keep their businesses operating and producing, whereas consumers are not obliged to buy anything and everything that hits the marketplace shelves. This is a key point for us to remember! A perfect example of business-to-business marketing can be seen in the promotional incentive item industry. Thousands of companies and individual distributors sell those rubbery squeezable tension toys that come in hundreds of shapes, sizes, and colors. There is a tension toy for any company that wants to promote itself and someone has to make and sell these items! Anyone who attends tradeshows and job fairs can count the number of companies handing out those colored balls, sharks, animals, bananas, trucks, cellphones, and computers with company contact information stamped on them. I've got many of them adorning my office to remind me of the companies I do business with (or would like to!). Bly provides a wealth of workable solutions to effectively market businesses through traditional and hi-tech methods such direct mail advertising, polished correspondence, brochures, newsletters, press releases, speaking engagements, multimedia presentations, telemarketing, and the Internet. All of these require talent and commitment. Bly will help prepare you to face these challenges! This is a heavy hitting book - definitely not for beginners. This book is recommended for companies and business consultants who have already established themselves in the marketplace who want to promote themselves as truly professional. This is top-notch advice from someone who knows his business. Do you know how to effectively market your business? This book will get you results! ... Read more

Not only is Direct Marketing devoid of fluff, every word is packed with the insight of a gentleman who has obviously earned his knowledge from the school of hard knocks. As I continued to read the fourth edition of Direct Marketing I found that it is more than a book on direct mail, it's an essential read on marketing in general: * Nash makes it easy to understand the importance and mechanics of marketing measurement and metrics. * While emphasizing the accountability and predictability of direct marketing, Nash does not discount general marketing knowledge. * Nash makes planning practical and concise. The chapter on marketing plans is the best coverage of the topic that I've seen. * The Internet and other interactive vehicles are fully embraced. In short, if you're a marketing professional, buy this book.
