May Not Be What You're Looking For
First, this is one tape about one hour long.
Second, this tape spends much time on relaxing music and incorporates a subliminal/hypnosis method. If you're looking for that approach, this tape is for you.

Great advice!
I was quite amazed by this book. Let me tell you about myself - I'm a semester away from graduating and entering the workforce (as an engineer). I'm unsure of what to do, I have those gitters about *everything*. How do I talk to the boss, not be embarassed giving a presentation, among everything else racking my brain (e.g. where will I work?). So to me, this book built my self-confidence and told me how to handle special situations, such as business lunches.

I disagree with a previous reviewer that it is an advertisement. Yes, he uses experience to convey the ideas, often in which he made a mistake and learned from it. Of course some would happen at his company, but many others are drawn from his previous jobs. His chapters are short and to the point, with great advice that don't leave you wanting more or ready to stop reading in the middle of a chapter. The book exemplifies his own advice: the quality of the paper, the nice layout, the personal experiences. He's addressing an audience and obviously put a great deal of thought into it.

I loved this book, and its well worth your money.

Try these techniques now
My career DOES depend on how I talk to an audience! This book was extremely beneficial to me. I present in front of groups all the time and started using some of these techniques, and they paid off beautifully. I also tend to be a hot-head when things don't go my way with my boss. After reading this book, I thought things through first, developed my game plan following the advice in the book and WON my argument, without my boss getting upset or even thinking it was an argument. Excellent.

Inspiring! Motivational!
This book was great. Some business books provide rote information, can be difficult to get through and hard to pull something out of it. But Talk Your Way To The Top is loaded with interesting stories that helped me relate to similar situations in my business. Since they are stories that everyone can relate to, that makes it easy to put the writer's suggestions to use. I find that I use something from the book everyday. You should definitely read this!

At best an advertisement for his consulting business
Albeit there are a handful of useful "tricks" to presenting before an audience in here, this book reads more like a commercial for his consulting business than anything else. The stories used to illustrate his points are trite and hardly enlightening. In one instance, he even brags about his own presentation about a military feat he accomplished, used for an inspirational talk. It reads very dry and certainly was not convincing. Perhaps Daley should stick to a live audience instead of attempting to put it down in writing. There is better material available on presentation skills--this one isn't worth the money.

An important book...
This is an important book, but step 2 in what should be a carefully designed strategy for success. Public speaking - knowing what to wear, how to stand, even where to have those critical business luncheons - all are important tools for success. Where's the beef?
Most of this audiobook appears to be an excerpt out of one Mr. Hall's seminars. The seminars might be good, but the audiobook is practically worthless. It provides basically no useful information, except for some simple common sense --- that a strong story, good props, and good voice make an effective storyteller. Falls Short........
I was really looking forward to receiving this tape. However, the material was really not "as advertised." Rather than demonstrate how to tailor a single speech to numerous audiences, Mr. Burgett suggests that we build a database of 100 or more components. Then we simply pick-and-choose and rearrange the various components from our extensive database. Interesting. But hardly "Earn[ing] Happily Everafter with One Speech." Also he spends a great deal of time talking about the basics of research. Quite simply, I was after a unique methodology of adapting a speech (or speeches) to a broader array of audiences. Also, the tape was very amateurish. It appears that it was recorded at his home with an inexpensive recorder. At a couple of points in the tape, I could hear the sound of doors opening and closing. I guess I deserve to share some of the blame; after all, what should I have expected for $...? Good basics, but needs updating
This book does a good job covering the many basics of making an effective presentation, including dealing with anxiety, personal appearance, planning and preparation.However, it needs to be updated to reflect the manychanges in presentation technology (and technology in general) since 1993that are available to the presenter.

For example, to quote from page55, "CD-ROM Players--These 'read only' players (you can't record ontothem from your own computer, yet!) can hold a gigantic amount ofinformation. Some disks contain an entire encyclopedia. These devices canstore color photographs, video clips, sound clips, huge data bases andother types of information that require a lot of memory. There is newtechnology available that will allow you to take a photograph, have ittransferred to a CD-ROM disk and then bring it up on your computerscreen."What next, phones without wires? Overall a good book onthe subject of preparing for and delivering presentations as long as you'renot looking for any tips on PowerPoint or technology-based presentations.

Easy to follow...
This is exactly what a newcomer needs: the whole
idea explained, divided into categories, then each followed with
step-by-step instructions. No surprise that the seminar this comes from was (and still is) extremely popular in California, and served as a launching pad for hundreds of other seminar givers.

Don't Buy It!
I have never ordered such a poor quality audio program in my life,from the usually credible Amazon.com!

I am very disappointed about this audio program because of the following reasons:

1. Poor presenter-- how can he teaches someone to set up and market seminars. 2. Poor, low costs , opportunistic audio production, with actually very short duration. 3. Poor packaging and audio program image--- how can this author has the credentials to teach others to market their audio programs, when he cannot even set a convincing example.

Actually if not the packaging has already opened by me, I really want to get a refund from Amazon.com in order to calm down my customer dissatifaction.

These are the lessons that I want to share with you out of this purchase:

1. Never buy from unknown authors, unless they really look credible, and understand what they talk about.

2. Never order something from Amazon.com when you cannot even

see it from the screen, such as book cover, book inside, or packaging.

3. Never buy books or audiotapes in a hurry, especially those books which have no customer reviews or low sales rank on the Amazon.com.
