From the supplier: Literary biographies need an imaginative approach to appeal to children. One good example is 'Lucy Maud and the Cavendish Cat,' which is told from the point of view of L.M. Montgomery's cat. Another is 'Glass Town,' which describes the childhood play of the Brontes.

Book Description

“Sturdy and sensible Molly has been 10? ‘for a million years’ — and it’s a long, hot, boring and lonely summer while her best friend is away. But when another girl’s bracelet is finagled away from her by tough, nasty Celia, Molly’s summer becomes a mini-adventure as she sets out to get it back. Children intimidated by bigger kids will cheer her courage, all while learning, as Molly does, that often things are not as simple as they seem.”

He explores human explorers, animals and matters beyond our ken with equal vigor and smashing results, finding joy in words and endless adventures in ideas. It seems that every book Eckert writes explores new ground, finds new ways to lock us into his expanding views as a consummate story teller. 4-0 out of 5 stars The many stories of a city bus
Next Stop! is a great book to read with your child. The pictures are detailed and can help to create a discussion and stories about what each person is doing on the bus because it carries through the book until the person gets to his/her destination. The repetition of the text and the bright colorful illustrations makes the book enjoyable and holds my son's attention throughout the book and he can't wait to see what will happen on the next page. There is a sweet surprise at the end of the book that will make you hug your child. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
My 5 and 8 year olds loved it and so did I. The wonderful little poems and the appropriate gross pictures were the perfect mix. A great book for kids and dads!

1-0 out of 5 stars Watch Out
This book may have great poetry, but the imagry was enough to scare my toddler. Although beautifully illustrated, the images are a bit much - especially the one of the spider webs & spiders covering the boy's bed while he is sleeping. This is definitely a book for older kids, unless you want a book that will give your toddler nightmares!

5-0 out of 5 stars Attention Bug Lovers
Attention Bug-Lovers! Here is a great poetry book for you. McKelvey has written 26 short buggy poems full of alliteration, puns and rythmn. The poems are potrayed with creative typsetting to accentuate the meaning. The illustrations by Egielski are the perfect embodiement of the creepy crawly critters. The bugs are big and bright and have such character. Both my four year old and my 11 year old loved this book. Having lived in Florida, I especially appreciated the poem about the roachs that "Roam through the dishes." Great fun for everyone. ... Read more

Book Description

A very special young adult nature novel about the life and adventures in survival of a North Carolina king snake, from the time of his hatching until he becomes adult. The story shows the way he lives, how he catches and eats his prey (including other snakes, even poisonous ones), his value in the balance of nature and the fascinating events of his life, shedding new light and understanding about the lives of snakes, which, despite their value to man, are so often misunderstood and deliberately killed just because of what they are or what they are perceived to be. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Interesting if you like snakes
In this book, you follow a king snake as it hatches, goes on its first hunt, and winds up in life threatening situations. The simple vocabulary and short length of the book makes it more ideal for kids. It's also veryspecific on the species of prey the king snake feeds on, so you might windup learning about frogs or whatever as well. It is very interesting andinformative, but may seem boring to those who want a more action-packedstory. ... Read more
