Book Description

Fabio is an only dog. He longs for a brother to play with him, to share his toys, and to show off to his friends. His owners agree that Fabio should have companionship. The time has come to get another dog.

Much to Fabio’s horror, the dog they bring home is not the frisky brother he envisioned. It is fat old Gracie, fresh from the pound. She’s tired, she’s shy, and worst of all, she’s a girl. Fabio does everything he can to get rid of the interloper. But while it’s all right for him to complain about Gracie, just watch the fur fly when the other dogs make fun of her. Fabio realizes that families, and love, come in all shapes and sizes.

Absolutely adorable & shows how a family is made
"Once upon a time ago there lived a dog named Fabio ... ". I was literally enthralled with this book from the time I read the first line. The topic was light but in my household both of my children are adopted and this discussed similar issues albeit with dogs. How a 'sister' is brought into the household, the older 'brother' doesn't like her, and how they become a family when others tease Gracie.

Superb Children's Book
The author has hit a home-run with her brilliant children's book, 'My Sister Gracie'. The book is original, funny and touching. My twin four year-olds love it - we must have read it to them 50 times by now. Highly recommended for young children (and adults!). And oh yes, the illustrations, also by the author are superb.

The most beautiful picture book ever!
I borrowed this book from the library when I was a little girl and was mesmerised by the beautiful illustrations. Buy this for a little girl (or boy) in your life, they'll love you for it!

Wild Swans
In the mid-1800s, Andersen wrote many original fairy tales.He has many common themes however to the stories that had been passed down for generations.This story is of a young girl sent away by her evil stepmother.She then must rescue her eleven brothers from the spell that has been placed upon them.In a dream, a fairy came to her and gave her the answer.So after, a king falls in love with her at first sight.This tale is a bit lengthy and has a few passages of irrelevant information, but because the reader feels an emotional attachment to the girl so quickly, attention never waivers.The watercolor illustrations help to support the text, but at times do not have very much contrast, giving them a murky feel.Second graders would be able to read the text; however it may take until fourth grade for children to be able to do it in one sitting.

Why 4 stars?:
Some passages in the story can get a bit lengthy.Although the text is written on a second grade level, it may take a while before students can read this in one sitting.However, they will definitely listen to it, as the characters are very captivating.The illustrations are a little muddy though.

Loads of Stickers -- Lots of Fun
Being a big Rolie fan anyway, my daughter (2 years old) was so excited to get her new sticker book. She has had it for over a month now and still has plenty of stickers to place throughout the book, which is a big plus for a 2-year old. Adorably unusual
This is my 2-1/2 year old son's current favorite book. I picked it up at quick glance in a specialty toy store while using up a gift certificate, for the illustrations. Then when we read it together at home, I was just delighted at the creative and humorous writing. It's right up there with Angela Banner's Ant and Bee books - for anyone else out there who remembers these from growing up in the 60's. Also, David Kirk's books are similar in their uniqueness. This is not your average schmaltzy story. It's different.

This is the world's greatest kids book!!!
Every grown-up and every kid who reads this book loves this book beyond reason! It is a classic. It should be required reading for the entire planet. Praise be to Bob!! ... Read more
