5-0 out of 5 stars Fun, colorful, great for new vocabulary.
I teach French to elementary school children and they loved this book. The illustrations are beautiful and colorful. And the story is entertaining enough for them to catch up on new vocabulary. The book itself is excellentquality as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Monkey Shines
Grief . . . comforting friends . . . food . . . threatening enemy . . . victory . . . happiness. What more could you want in a book? Well actually, there is more. You can read it, look at Alex de Wolf's clever pictures, listen to it on tape, and learn French -- all at the same time. Mary Risk,as usual, has not been satisfied just to "feed" the reader French - she hascreated an engaging story that my 4-year-old listens to and "reads" overand over.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book
What a great way to learn another language! My son loves the pictures, and we tirelessly read it over and over again in both French and English. The pronunciation guide is very helpful.I wish they offered this book inseveral more languages.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good.
There are very few french books for children it seems. However, we enjoy this one.It has both english and french (with pronunciation guide in the back of the book). The pictures are amusing. We wish there were more of these books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun whether you read it in English or Spanish
A delightful way to read a story in English and learn Spanish at the same time (process also works in reverse).Monkey only wants a banana and refuses all other fruit jungle animals offer him.Children and adults can identifly with this single mindedness. All ages will love the simplewords, rhymes and delightful pictures. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing At Best
This book lacks the well written literary structure of the original series and the illustrations are terrible. On top of that, the seals are in an unrealistic and old-fashioned entertainment centered "show".They should have been more biologically accurate and eco-friendly.I can accept that our favorite little monkey does all the unrealistic things that he does, but seals can't really jump and flip as depicted- that just bothers me,

I love Curious George so much and am so pleased that my 2.5 year old is now enjoying it too.He also loves going to the aquarium and is facinated by sea life; I THOUGHT this would be the perfect book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Curious George steals the show.
I have loved Curious George ever since I was a child. The adorable monkey and the man in the yellow hat take a trip to the aquarium in this book.Despite the fact that the man with the yellow hat has no responsibility when it comes to looking after a mischevious little monkey, Curious George redeems himself and is forgiven for his antics when he makes makes the fin and flipper show the best aquarium visitors have ever seen.
Rey and Shalleck present a fantastic story for readers of all ages.It caters to the curiosity and adventure every child faces.I shared this book with 16 preshoolers during storytime at a local library. They loved it and I enjoyed reading it to them. The plot is simple, the characters are adorable and heartwarming.Curious George stories are always charming and enchanting. The illustrations, though dated, are colorful and appealing. The stories are adapted from a series of films.Though I have never seen the films, I know the stories are timeless and wonderful.Curious George deserves a place in every book lovers collection and belongs on every family bookshelf.

From the woolly monkey to the woolly bear, from the blue-tongued skink to the blue marlin, there's so much to discover in an animal's name. An animal's name can tell you where the animal is from, like the African elephant. Its name can also tell you what the animal eats, like the rat snake, or what it looks like, such as the walking stick, or even what it sounds like, such as the whooping crane or the howler monkey.

In this celebration of the natural world, Keith DuQuette uses simplelanguage and stunning illustrations to show us the amazing members of the animal kingdom who embody the evocative names we give them.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you like gorillas, read this book.
Could you ever imagine a gorilla having a pet cat? In the book Koko's Kitten by Dr. Francine Patterson, there is a gorilla named Koko and she has a pet cat. In the book, Koko learned over 500 words of sign language. I never knew that a gorilla could learn sign language. This is a really interesting non-fiction book. Will Koko be a good pet owner? Read and find out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Koko love, Koko good
The story of Koko, the gorilla who knows sign language, and her kitten, Ball, is told by Penny Patterson, her owner and mentor. Koko loved books about cats, and one day, she got a little gray, tailess kitten of her own. Koko named the kitty All Ball. There are wonderful photos of Koko cuddling and playing with Ball. Looking at them, it's easy to see that humans don't have a monopoly on love. A sad part leads to a happy ending for the wonderful Koko, who is now 31 years old. This book is especially recommended for anyone learning sign language!

5-0 out of 5 stars Charming, heartwarming book
I loved this book as a child, and now, as a first year teacher, i plan to use this book in my classroom. The book is informative and sweet, and the pictures are adorable.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful, heart wrenching tale!
I first read this book when I was in the second grade and remember it bringing tears to my eyes, but at the same time making me smile at seeing the wonderful bonds that can occur between humans and animals. Also, it is a great gift for anyone you know who is involved with PETA, the ASPCA, or any other animal lovers!

5-0 out of 5 stars simple concepts, fun
My 16-month-old daughter has loved this book since she was around 8 months old. 5-0 out of 5 stars Lessons of Value!!
This is a wonderful little book, designed to teach us not to let go of things if they seem to be worthless, or of little worth. Arthur, in this case, wants to have a "tag sale" and get rid of all his old junk. Now there's an interesting idea. Unfortunately his sister, Violet, doesn't believe she has any old junk, so he sets out to put up signs, place tags on his "old junk" and price them accordingly. All except, of course, his honey bear with the one eye. In the adventure which follows, we see him trying to protect his bear and hide him so he won't get bought, only to have his sister "bargain" with him for the old bear. Then, of course, because he doesn't own it anymore, his sister sets out to re-invent the bear to her image. Arthur's idea of trying to control the bear are shattered, and he comes up with a way of continuing to bond with the bear in another fashion. A great story, with wonderful illustrations. Highly recommended!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Honey of a Book.
Arthur can part with Baby King Kong and a bent hula hoop, but can he part with his Honey Bear? He wants to be grown up, but isn't so sure he can actually go through with it. We see his reluctance at a near sale, and then his little sister is so insistant that he gives in. But the items she's traded pallor in Honey Bear's absence. What will Arthur do?

Well drawn-- kids will find a lot to look at even if the book is being read to them. It's nicely written too, simply but with enough detail to make it interesting and funny. If you find the version with the read-along audio tape, get it. It's very good!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Book for Beginning Readers
This book has a lot of depth for a beginning reader. Arthur and his little sister Violet (they are chimps) set aside some old toys to sell at a tag sale during spring cleaning. Arthur decides he can part with Honey Bear, his one-time favorite stuffed animal until his sister Violet makes him an offer he can't refuse and purchases it from him. A reluctant Arthur braves the deal, and soon regrets it. Lillian Hoban has great integrity as a children's author. Arthur does the right thing -- he doesn't cancel the deal with his sister even though he is clearly troubled by loosing Honey Bear. He reminds Violet that since they are brother and sister, he is Honey Bear's uncle and should have some quality time with his nephew by taking everyone out for an ice cream cone with the money he made from selling Honey Bear. A very sweet story that encourages children to find creative solutions to their troubles. ... Read more

Learn about different ways to measure time by following the growth of a baby chimp

Late one night, a tiny chimpanzee is born at a zoo in Kansas. He seems very weak, and the staff is worried. Will he survive? When the mother shows no interest in her baby, a pediatrician comes in to care for the little chimp. The baby grows strong and healthy, and soon he is big enough to be moved to the Denver Zoo. He is named Jiggs after the doctor who saved him.

Jiggs is a lot like human babies. He wears diapers. He plays with his toys. He loves his pets. And he learns all kinds of new skills as he gets older.
