Don't Skip School Folks, Really
When a special episode of Arthur and his friends' favorite television program, "Dark Bunny" airs, the gang is seriously peeved because Mr. Ratburn has piled them down with homework and with all of that work, they're not going to be able to watch it. That is until Arthur threatens that he just won't do his homework, in fact, he'll even skip school. Francine doesn't believe him and so she decides to call him on it- by daring him! Things escalate from there, until everyone in Arthur's treehouse is dared, including the studious Brain! You'll have to read the book to find out how they deal with this, but it all comes down to the lesson that you shouldn't do something you know is wrong simply to prove that you can. This book isn't as funny as some of the other Arthur chapter books and some of it is just weird, but overall it's still a decent story. ... Read more

A great read aloud around Valentine's Day
Arthur and Francine are square dancing partners in gym class. They really like dancing together. Arthur's friends begin to think that Francine likes him, because she does nice things for Arthur like giving him her favorite baseball glove. Arthur begins to believe his friends and he distances himself from Francine. The way Arthur is avoiding Francine, causes her friends to think Arthur is in love with her. She begins to distance herself from Arthur. They both get new dancing partners. When they finally confront each other, they figure out their true feelings.
I am a kindergarten/first grade teacher. I read this book to my class around Valentine's Day. It is a great book for students this age. I think the students really like this book because at this age they are teased a lot about liking girls or boys. They can relate to Arthur and Francine in this book.

This is a Good Book!
Buster's Dino Dilemma was fabulous. It was good because Buster thought about giving the fossil back, so he did. Buster gave the fossil back to Ranger Ruth but he didn't give the fossil before. It was bad because Buster didn't give the fossil back but then he did. It was great because Ranger Ruth didn't get mad at Buster because Buster got punshed before in a dream and she put the fossil on the showing place so everybody could look.People who like dinosaurs read it!People who don`t like dinosaurs pick something else.

Buster Lies
We thought Buster's Dino Dilemma was so-so. We thought it stunk because Buster was lying and that is a sin. It was very naughty because Buster stole the foot fossil. The foot fossil was very important because it came from a dinosaur and somebody found it. It was really bad because Buster was keeping secrets.You shouldn't read this book because maybe you will learn to steal and lie.

FUN & INFORMATIVE!
This is delightful chapter book that manages to be both funny and educational. My nephew adored it. Buster and Arthur learn how fossils were created in Rainbow Rock State Park over hundreds of millions of years. Then they get the chance to go on a fossil hunt - not in cliffs like professional paleontologists, but in streams where kids and amateurs can learn how it's done. When Buster finds what appears to be a small dinosaur fossil, he wants to keep it for himself. It makes him feel important. But is this really what's best for him or the fossil?

ONE STAR IS TOO HIGH FOR THIS AWFUL BOOK!
This book is so unrealistic! A kid (actully a bunny) steals a fossil from a state park. He goes through lots of trouble to smuggle it back to his house, and when he finally gets to his house, he decides he doesn't even want it anymore!And when he returns the fossil, the state park decides to put the fossil in the museum with a card that reads "Buster Baxter found this fossil." It's almost as if the state park was rewarding Buster for stealing! Don't waste your time reading this book. ... Read more

Poorly cut down from TV script
It's clear that the book is an attempt to fit a whole TV special into a book. It's done poorly, and there even are characters who appear without explaination in the last few pages! I'd skip this book and buy others from the Arthur series.

A Great Christmas
This is a great book about Christmas! In the book Arthur wanted everything to be
perfect. Arthur decorated the tree. He also got a present for his mom and
dad. Unfortunately, the present broke. Arthur learned what the best thing about
Christmas really is. Read this book to find out what the best thing about Christmas is!

Arthur's Perfect Christmas
Marc Brown's Arthur is very popular with young people. It is usually well written. However, I found Arthur's Christmas lacking. I thought at first a page was missing. The story did not flow well and felt like he was trying to cram everything about the winter holiday season into a 32 page book. I found it much too busy. It seemed rushed and not well thought out.

Tug at Your Heart Life Lessons
Despite the useful lesson that Americans enjoy the holiday season differently, the true gem of this story is the soothing way things can work out, even when they are not going the way you had hoped. ARTHUR'S PERFECT CHRISTMAS is really a story about how all of us get wound up for this time of the year, fantasize about it and become crushed when it's not so picture perfect. Our children, ages 8 and almost 4, shuddered when Arthur accidently broke the beautiful gift he had chosen for his mom--only to be buoyed by his Uncle's surprise gesture. They also watched intently as the typically spoiled Muffy finds that despite having received many Christmas gifts, what she wants most is a resurrection of her fractured friendship with Francine.

This story spends much energy on getting kids to understand that different families celebrate the holiday in different ways, from Hanukkah to Kwanzaa. Because Arthur fans never knew before that Arthur was a Christian, Francine a Jew and the Brain an African-American, it at first seems "stretched-to-fit", a little forced. The lesson, however, is invaluable because human beings even in similiar faiths and cultures do not necessarily celebrate in similiar ways. While this is an vital lesson of its own, it is ultimately trumped by one that all us can recognize and share, that is friendship and compassion towards others can prevail. It can make any holiday disappointment seem "perfect."

Good book for kids
I agree with the first reviewer. This book is a tremendously good book that kids will enjoy. It's wonderfully written, teaches kids a few things, like Thomas Edison and his inventions. This is sort of a funny book, also. Once again, I highly reccomend this to anyone who likes to read Arthur books.
