Physically light enough to for students carry and use easily
21st Century Atlas Of The Unites States, Canada, And The World is an impressively presented, comprehensive, geographical reference featuring maps of every nation worldwide, and with up-to-date representations of the latest political boundaries. Each nation also has a listing of its major cities, capital, flag, size, population, language, and currency. All of the individual states of the United States also have their own map, and data from the 2000 U.S. Census results are included in this superb, solid book. fine educational busy book for older kids
Organized alphabetically, each state has a full page that includes a road map of the state, a puzzle, a pictorial showing the state's location in the US, and the following information: capital city, state flower, state tree, state bird, and year admitted to the Union. The puzzles vary -- there are word search, letter manipulation, crossword, matching, connect the dot, word scramble, coloring, maze and hidden picture puzzles, among others. A center two-page spread shows a simplified road atlas of the United States. Puzzles and maps are in color. The book concludes with pages for Canada and Mexico; an index to cities, towns and places organized by state; and Answer Pages.

Caveat: While this is an excellent busy book, the cover states it is suitable for ages 4 and up. Amazon's recommendation of ages 9-12 is closer to the mark, but younger puzzle or geography/travel fans will enjoy it as well.

FANTASTIC ACTIVITY BOOK!
This atlas was a life saver during our recent road trip. Our 7 year old used the activity book before our travels to help us plan our trip. During the trip, he sat for hours in the back seat working on the educational activities. At the hotel, again he was consumed with the activities, fun illustrations and state maps. neat resource
The Kingfisher student atlas is a great resourse to have in the library. There are maps of Planet Earth, The world, The Poles, and each continent. Next to each map is facts about each area. Also included with the book is a CD ROM that features over 40 printable maps. This resourse would be great for kids who are writing reports.

I enjoyed looking through the book with my family. I learned to use the map key and ledgends with this book.
