3-0 out of 5 stars Good info, save the descriptions
A. Ryan Nerz does a good job when it comes to the stats, but it's lacking something when it comes to descriptions. Most of them simply say what the Digimon looks like (as if the pictures didn't show us)and their attacks. That's usually about it, unless they add how scary or strong the Digimon is and that we should watch out for them. Sometimes they throw in an extra bit, like what part they played in the show, which is a plus. All in all, it's a nice book despite the not up to par descriptions. Extras include and FAQ, show information, and Digidestined information.

5-0 out of 5 stars Digimon Kicks Butt!
What a great book. I take it with me everywhere I go. It's oosome. I mean, yeah, it has some mistakes, but it still has more Digimon characters and concepts than any other guide or book. A. Ryan Nerz rocks, and so does this guide!

2-0 out of 5 stars Review of Digimon Digital Monsters: The Official Character G
The official review of this book was misleading. As a result of the review, I expected to find each name written in both English and Japanese.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hey Digimon!Hey Digimon!
It was a pretty cool book, but I warn you-there are bloopers!Especially if you watch the show, you'll notice everything wrong in this book. There is A-LOT of things they messed up on.Well any how, this book gives info on Digimon you never knew. A great book for the Digimon fans.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good book, but some bloopers
Digimon: TOCG is a better-researched book that Pojo's, but it still has some faults. It refers to Togemon, Birdramon, and Garudamon as male, even though they are female in the show. Ditto for Floramon and Blossomon. Deramon is said to be female. Shellmon is listed as a Rookie, rather than a Champion. Also, the In-Training form for Kari's Digimon (Nyaramon) is absent.

However, this is a more or less thorough guide to the Digimon and humans of the television series, listing their sizes, attacks (including some that were not used on television) and evolutions, with picturess taken from the cards or other artwork.

It lists the monsters up to the end of the Dark Masters arc, which only leaves out Apocalypsemon, including incidental characaters. Recommended for any Digimon fan, though some of the mistakes ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The best I've seen yet...
The audio is of high quality, the speakers have clear voices and the cards are very helpful. My only problem with it is that they go too fast for a beginner, but they all do. It seems obvious to me...slow down! When a baby is learning to speak, you don't say "apple" all of the time, sometimes you have to say "aaa pull" I have to stop the tape player over and over and over........However, I do recomend this. I would buy it again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to Spanish
My daughter (age 10) and I have been playing Linguafun card games for a few days and really enjoying it. The cards guarantee success in speaking in sentences right away, rather than learning numbers and colors and just a few phrases at first, the way I learned in school. It's spurred us both on to learn more--I only wish there were more sets of cards from Linguafun.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best foreign language teaching tool on the market.
I am a Spanish teacher, and have used the Linguafun cards in the classroom. I was amazed at how easily my students learned Spanish using these cards and cassette! The set comes with instructions for many different games, but our favorite in the classroom is "War". I have reviewed and tried many products for teaching Spanish, and Linguafun is by far THE BEST! It's the easiest way I have ever seen of learning a foreign language. I can't wait for all the other languages to be available ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book for kids and parents!
We bought this for my 5-year old daughter last year, and we play the games from this book on a *daily* basis. Our 3-year old joins in to play some games as well.

This package includes a Game Rules book plus a deck of 40 cards, which uses Family Members (Father/Mother/Sister/Brother) instead of the typical Hearts/Diamonds/Clubs/Spades, and jungle animals rather than numbers/royalty cards. The book teaches the kids "young" versions of card games, from "memory" to Rummy to War and many many more!

Awesome, awesome, awesome!VERY welcome change of pace from Hi-Ho-Cherry-O and Chutes-and-Ladders!I'm looking forward now to "MORE Card Games for Little Kids". ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lucky 13
This book was purchased for a "senior" who enjoyed the game but wanted more of a variation to her playing cards, and the print was large enough for her to follow, and she enjoys using the book to make the card game more challenging. Its a book that is not just for kids!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun For Kids and Great Resource for Parents!
"Lucky 13" is well written, clearly illustrated and a must have for families! The introduction explains simply all the terms and basics of solitaire(some of which are a great brush up for the adult!).Although the book does get into advanced games and strategies, the first section, "Beginning Games" is awesome for any age. 5-0 out of 5 stars Never Played Cards? You Can Now!
I had always wanted to learn some card games but often when I ask someone else to teach me, they aren't very good at explaining the directions. Or, I might sit down with a friend to play a game we both know, only to find out we've learned different and conflicting rules for it.

This book will end the confusion. The instructions are pretty easy to follow (you may have to read through them more than once -- that's why I rate the book with a 9 -- that and the fact that at the end their plans to build a house of cards will WRECK your cards permanently), and the pack of cards included might end up convincing you to make up your OWN card game!

In fact, I made up one of my own after reading about these card games (sorry if others have made up similar games). Here is how to play:

You will need two or more people and a normal pack of cards. Pass out 5 (or more as you get better and want to be more challenged) cards to each person. Put the rest of the cards in a pile face-down on the table.

The purpose of the game is to get all five (or more as you get better) cards of one suit...any suit, your choice...don't tell anyone what suit you are going for. Now, going around in a circle you can do one of two things...
1) Ask someone else (anyone) if they have the card you are looking for (suit) (and if they don't, you go fish). If they DO have it -- you give them one of YOUR cards, they give you that card.
2) Go fishing without asking, and discard one card after you go fishing...face up next to the face down pile.
3) Take the TOP card in the face-up pile that is formed from discarding.

The first person with all cards in one suit wins.

You can only have 5 cards at a time (or however many you began with.)

Well, read through the instructions again and I hope you get how to play. And after trying this book, maybe you will be motivated to make up a game of your own, too! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Nice History Book
When this book was written, Pokemon was the biggest thing on the planet. The book serves primarily as a history book in my opinion. The book is definitely "big" as the cover says. 300 pages!

There's full color images of the original 151 Pokemon with their stats. There images of the main characters and Bios. There's images of all the U.S. & Japanese Pokemon cards that existed back then. All the Burger King toys & cards are displayed. And there's Killer Decks for those that want to look back at the theory behind the Power decks.

If you or your kids are just getting into Pokemon, this will keep them entertained for hours. If you've been into Pokemon since 1998 ... then you'll have fun looking back on the good times. ;-)

Updated - "Make sure to pick up Pojo's Total Pokemon, as it picks up where this book left off, and was updated for 2004!"

Book Description

Kids who constantly have horses on their minds are going to love this book. The Horse Farm Read-and-Play Sticker Book draws young riders into the places they like best: the horse farm, the tack room, the stable, the paddock, and the stableyard. And with 75 full-color, reusable, heavy-duty vinyl stickers, kids can create their own equine dramas while at the same time learning important points about such essentials as grooming and tacking up.

The range of stickers is irresistable. There are foals, a barn cat (and a barn mouse), a vet, and a farrier. But there are also name plates for the horse stalls; saddles, brushes, helmets, and cowboy hats for the tack room; barrels and jumps for horse shows, plus championship ribbons; and a flock of chickens and a few barn swallows for the stableyard.

All this horse play, however, is tied to real-life horse lessons. For example, if the game is "let's pretend it's time for the horse's evening feeding," the book reminds kids to give the horse his ration of grain and his mineral block, fill his bucket with fresh water, put out plenty of hay for the horse to munch on, and not to forget the carrot for a snack.

Book Description

Horses are happiest when they have friends. The famous Seabiscuit, for example, liked to pal around with a Montana cow pony named Pumpkin, a little dog named Pocatell, and a spider monkey named JoJo. In fact, for centuries, horse-behavior experts have known that animal companionship is the best way to soothe an unhappy or agitated horse. And animal friends not only keep a horse calm and healthy, such friendships can even help out-of-sorts racehorses and sport horses perform better.

Now Horses & Friends Poster Book offers 30 irresistible poster-size photos of some of the happiest friendships in the animal kingdom. Horses with ponies. Horses with miniature donkeys. Horses with goats. Horses with dogs. Horses with cats. Even horses with chickens and ducks.

Like The Horse Breeds Poster Book and the Dream Horses poster book, the photographs are the stars in Horses & Friends. All 30 candid photos are in glorious full-color. They capture horses and their animal companions in one-of-a-kind moments that are sweet, funny, and tender. These are pictures even the casual horse lover will find impossible to resist. And as for horse-crazy kids, they won't let the Horses & Friends book out of their hands.

And then there's the size of the pictures: at 9 1/2" x 12", kids can pull out the posters and cover an entire wall of their bedroom with these gorgeous pictures.

There's never been anything like the Horses & Friends poster book.
