5-0 out of 5 stars I think this book was well written.
Chicken Soup For The Kids Soul is about kids of all ages who write stories about sad deaths, achieving dreams, and making choices in life. I would recomend this book for a 9 year old because I liked it and I think they would like it like I did.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Book Will Always Be My Favourite Chicken Soup Book!!
I have read a fan of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books since Grade 8 and I must say that out of all of the series I have read, this is my favourite one. This book is great for kids. It includes stories, and poems that were written by kids FOR kids! This book is great and I love to sit in my bed sometimes at night and read stories from Dating and Relationships to Death and Divorce. Kids can face many troubles out in the world like Gangs, Drugs, AIDS, Death and many other situations. Kids have to make difficult choices sometimes. This book is good because it can really make you think. I highly reccomend this book to anyone who wants something great to read! It can make you laugh or cry. It can make you feel good about yourself. I know it will definetly make you think, it made me think!

4-0 out of 5 stars A mixed bag.
Overall the stories are both entertaining and heart warming. Some of them are quite sappy but all of the stories are thankfully short which keeps the flow of the book going at a comfortable reading pace. It's the type of book to read in small chunks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Stories for Youth Groups
I bought this book as tool for my youth ministry. I read the stories to kids in third and fourth grade. The stories are short, interesting and have good moral themes. There are stories to entertain, and teach. I would recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars 101 Stories of Courage, Hope and Laughter

    Book Description

From remembering their own life experience or to watching their own children grow, most people recognize that the preteen years, ages nine to thirteen, can be one of the most awkward times in life-a period of tremendous physical and emotional change. At this age, youngsters are eager to leave the "kid" stage, yet are uncertain about what adolescence will bring; they'd rather listen to peers over parents, and hear all too often to "wait until you're older." Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul will guide kids through this transition.

Written by and for preteens, this uplifting collection of stories touches on the emotions and situations they experience every day: making and losing friends, fitting in while keeping their personal identity, discovering the opposite sex, dealing with pressures at school including violence, and coping with family issues such as divorce.

Chapters include: On Love, On Family, On Friendship, On Choices, On Changes, On Overcoming Obstacles, Eclectic Wisdom, Tough Stuff, Attitude and Perspective and Achieving Dreams. Contributors indclude: *NSYNC, Mia Hamm, Beverley Mitchell and Karl Malone.

Whether first-time Chicken Soup readers or "graduates" of the bestselling Kid's Soul book, preteens are sure to include this in their backpacks and book bags.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
Recently I purchased Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul. I have just turned 11 years old. So far, I have enjoyed my newest Chicken Soup book. I have already received Chicken Soup for the Kids Soul as a gift, but now I believe I am growing out of it. I am almost a teenager who is going through her preteen years. This book has helped me find myself inside myself. I really love the authors who write Chicken Soup and the contributors who send in their funny, sad, and meaningful stories. This book talks about changes in life, getting older, the tough stuff we go through as preteens. My favorite stories are the ones of the people who are actually in their preteen years and how they deal with this tough time in their lives. Overall, I enjoy the book very much.

4-0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful, hard edge realism
I purchased this Chicken Soup book for my eight year old son, although the book states 9-12. The younger version for kids seemed too "slight." And his teacher had read a few stories from this version, so we decided to buy it for him as an Xmas 2000 book.

I have found it riveting, and many of the stories can bring tears to your eyes. The stories are concise. The writing is fluid and easy to understand. I was struck, however, by the intensity and hard edge realism of some of them. There is a section on death and a number of the other stories touch on grief, divorce, loss and death. My son just lost his grandmother in March (my mom) so I believe some of these tales will be helpful. They touched my own heart. Parents should be aware however that there is a heavy dose of despair--albeit overcome by strength and love. Also some nine year olds are more mature, wiser and perhaps less innocent than others. A nine year old from an otherwise happy, intact family who has yet to face a great deal of loss or grief may be taken a back, perhaps even a little frightened. This is a good work that should be reviewed first by a parent. Certainly consider the age prescribed. Also examine your own views on death, dying and marriage dissolution. These stories may helpfully support them, or they may not.

As a consultant in the child and youth development field, I would be more likely to steer the 11-13 year old grappling with specific issues to this Chicken Soup.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome stories
The book contains loads of stories of tennagers who survived all this stuff, and acomplished dreams. It's really cool that such book exists that we can read stories of all these adolecents who want to share a storie with us. Some are funny, some are life learning. There are mostly sad stories in the book than anything else, but there good ones! Justdont get me rong, they dont soak the book. It's a nice book and I thing all the teens should read it, to know that there not alone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Never Say Its Too Late
This was a book that whenever you picked it up it touched your heart. It is hard to think that some preteens have to go through what they did. Laugh, cry, get mad, you will eventually do all of this when you pick up this book. I recomend this book to everyone that is having a hard time in their preteen days.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul
Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul the survival guide for the preteen years is about real stroies of growing up, new friends, laughter, sad moments, tragic deaths, divorcs, changing, and struggle by kids between the ages 11-13. There are 101 stories that are all true. When you read this book you'll realize you're not alone and you can always make it like these survival stories by using you're mind and heart. ... Read more

    Book Description

Christmas is a wonderful time for kids-the anticipation of gifts under the tree, the aroma of once-a-year treats in the oven, the excitement of decorating for holiday festivities, the joy of being with family and friends, all the things that create warm memories that linger throughout our lives. Even big kids, better known as adults, eagerly await that first cup of eggnog, savor the scent of a fresh-cut pine tree, and delight in the discovery of that perfect present for a hard-to-please relative. Christmas is a time of celebrating traditions-those that have been in the family for years, as well as those just recently embraced.

Chicken Soup for the Soul Christmas Treasury for Kids will start a new holiday tradition for kids of all ages. With twenty-five true stories-one for each day in December through Christmas Day-this unique treasury will rekindle the Christmas spirit every December first and keep it burning in the hearts of readers throughout the holiday season. As kids and their loved ones read these stories together, they'll realize that the best traditions are those the whole family can share.

Kids will read about the "angels among us" who give selflessly to those in need. They'll learn that sometimes the best gifts aren't bought at a store. They'll discover that giving to others can be more joyous than getting everything on their list. And both kids and adults will find these stories wonderful reminders of the true meaning of Christmas and make this book a cherished reading tradition for generations to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars Family Togetherness
If you are looking for a way for your family to spend some time together each night during the Christmas season, then this is the book for you. It is filled with stories that make you laugh and cry. My 4 children ages 6 to 11 couldn't wait each night to see which story was next. It was like an advent calendar that we all could share in.

5-0 out of 5 stars As a story contributor....
I am writing this review as a story contributor of this Chicken Soup book and a reader as well. I feel honored to be included in this book with such wonderful talent. These stories are just what a Mother needs to read to her children at night before they turn out the light. What a wonderful way to celebrate the Christmas season and what a meaningful tradition to start! This is a book to pass down for generations to come! I am proud to be the lead story of such a masterpiece.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great childrens book
A great book for all ages! has interesting stories about kids all over the US. some of them will even make you cry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Excellent Chicken Soup Book!
I am a mother of a 6 and 7 year old. This is an excellent book for their age and also older children(a 9 year old neighbor borrowed the book until she read it all). The stories touch your soul so deeply and some will make you laugh, some will make you cry. EXCELLENT!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars For Kids & Parents Alike!
Fewer things can be more precious to a parent, than spending meaningful, quality time with their children. I got a copy of this book for just that purpose - to use for those special times we have together as a family & I have not been disappointed. At the end of the day, I enjoy taking some time before they go to bed to read, talk & enjoy each others' company. I have reserved "Chicken Soup for the Kids Soul" for those special times. I have to hide the book so my kids won't read ahead of where we have left off. And when I am done reading, they don't want to stop. It has been more than just a book. It has been a springboard for meaningful family discussions, to talk about situations & how we feel about them, what we would do, & how we would react. To laugh, cry, feel & be touched by the lives of those around us. It helps us to see the bigger picture, & how much more there is to this world & the people & children world-wide than what we could ever see, hear, or experience ourselves. I believe I am learning just as much - if not more from it than my children are, & would highly recommend it for other families, parents & children. It's something which can be experienced in so many ways. ... Read more
