5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Magnificent...
These dolls are great, to be put simply. They appeal to both boys and girls, children and adults. The clothes are easy to arrange on the doll; unlike regular paper dolls, there aren't any tabs to worry about ripping off. ^_^ You get twice the wardrobe in the same amount of space, as the clothes reverse to allow for a whole new selection. You aren't stuck with one hairstyle, one skin color, one face. But I think the best thing about these particular dolls, would be the fact the patterns for the clothes are simple. Therefore, if you somehow manage to get bored with the large wardrobe, you can simple trace a few pieces out and make your own clothes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Imaginative:Creative:Outstanding
Paper dolls with and without faces for you to put the expression on. Clothes that change colors when you turn them over. Little dog, cat, toys, bags, towel, pillows. Turn them over and they are different colors and designs. The clothes are basic enough to add your own decorations, glitter, buttons, etc or not depending how you feel. Inside are scenes from the beach and snow. A birthday party, and stage, more. Wait, I can't forget the baby paperdolls and their clothes. Turn them over for more. No tabs, no cutting out. Thats nice, but I don't know yet if I like the double stick post it dots. I'm an adult with grown children, but I love playing with these.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hours of fun
My 4 year old daughter, who usually forgets about a toy minutes after unwrapping it, got this book for her birthday and has been playing with it for days. She loves using it, and its easy enough for her little fingers to do all by them self. Another review mentions that the storage isn't the best for all the pieces once they are out, and this is true, but we have the whole book in a giant ziplock bag now to minimize the loss of pieces. My seven year old son even asked his sister if he could dress up some of the dolls in the book in cowboy and soldier outfits. It't GREAT. (caution, some of the clothes can rip slightly when being punched out with little fingers...but a little help from mom and dad prevents this too!)

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this Book!
Im a big paper doll fan. So when I saw this I had to have it. MY parents got it for me for Christmas! I love it. There are so many options for clothes and hair. The babies are absolutly adorable! I love acting out skits with the dolls and the scenes in the back. All you have to do is stand up the book. It is so much fun. Unlike some reviewers, I thought the storage page was helpful. I recommend this to any paper doll lover!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Its great...but
Well, It is so cool how you can punch out hundreds of pieces and they are reversible clothes too! (very handy) the only thing is that they are easy to get lost after you have punched them all out! There are do many pieces and the storage thing isn't that helpful. It is still very cool and I'm sure younger kids (I'm 12) would enjoy it moer becuase they don't worry about those things! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Family Fun
I first used shrinky dinks years ago with my son now eleven, but until recently I could not find the materials any where. This book was a great surprise and a must for any family. I have three children, 11, 6, and 3; we all enjoyed creating with this book. It is difficult to find activites that all my children can enjoy together.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun, easy craft activity
Shrinky dinks have been around for years and they are very easy and fun. You can trace existing pictures or create your own to shrink in an oven (requires adult supervision). The klutz book comes with a limited supply of plastic sheets, so the refill pack is a must. (Refills are not easy to find in stores.) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars the buck book
I bought it to have handy for rainy days. My children were small and I needed something to keep them entertained. After many years of using it and planty of fun, I moved and I lost it. I am buying again, because I treasure it. And when my children come back with their children, this is the book they want to see. Sincerely, Hilder Garrison

5-0 out of 5 stars Had it as a kid--loved it then and love it now
I got this for Christmas one year when I was in elementary school and was instantly fascinated by it. I still pull it off the shelf every now and then (I just graduated college) when I want to make a dollar-bill elephant. This book is a LOT of fun for kids and parents alike. It's something parents can give to their kids to provide them with a fun activity that's creative and useful--you'd be surprised how much a waiter appreciates a crummy tip when it's folded up into the shape of a frog that leaps. A co-worker of mine just got it for her kids who are 10, 11 and 12 years old, and they love it too. Definitely fun for all ages. Very well-written (funny and witty) with clear directions. I highly recommend it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BOOK WITH WONDERFUL PROJECTS IN IDIOT FRIENDLY FORMAT
Wonderful spiral bound book with very thoughtful and painstaking
detail to dialog along with good graphics.

The author didn't make it easy for herself by giving the reader a glossary of terms on the folds and expecting the reader to commit them to memory before proceeding on.

You are literally walked through each project in such a way that you will get professional results the 1st time, in minutes.

The best I've read so far.

p.s. I like the crisp uncirculated dollar that came with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great and simple
This book has seven cool little designss, a Buffalo Bill Badge, A Bowtie, A ring, a Dime-In ring (dime doesn't stay in very good), a jumping frog, an elephant and a peacock. They are all very simple to make and olny take about 5 minutes or so. Buy this book. I know you'll be satisfied

5-0 out of 5 stars this book's ideas are very creative.

Book Description

Turn any time into party time with balloon creations that are more fun, and easier to make, than you'll find in any other book! Simple twist-and-turn techniques show how to loop and tie balloons together to create colorful creatures, large and small, make balloon costumes and hats, and transform any space indoors or out into a magic kingdom. Brilliant color photos show finished projects and close-ups of each step. For starters, turn single balloon into flowers or animals, hats or jewelry. Then try your hand at a stegosaurus, butterfly, dragon, or school of fish. Move on to eye-popping airplanes and space ships, a Halloween spider and web, your choice of a birthday centerpiece, braids and bracelets, and costumes for pirates, angels, fairies, and robots. There's even a section on building your own funhouse or festooning your entryway. Before you know it, you can host your own version of a Macy's Parade!

1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid this one...
I had gotten the balloon animals and more balloon animals books and had gotten good at making those characters, so I thought I'd give this book a try. It's terrible. Compared to the previously mentioned books, the instructions are awful and the guides miserable. Avoid this one. ...

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners
This book tries to cover a lot of ground with only a few pages. The result is a cursory look into the art of balloon sculpting. It contains a brief section a few basic twists (fold, pop, tulip, ear...) then proceeds into a nice little section with some basic and some advanced animals (Dog, Horse, pig, cat, teddy bear, dragonfly- my favorite, dragon, stegasaurus, scorpion, and a very basic fish.) Following the animals the book goes into basic flowers, palm tree, and the tulip. Next is a small section containing the motorcycle, airplane, spaceship and "silly figures" which is basically a latex glove and a sharpie marker. This is followed by basic decorating items, chains, braids, a nice spider and web, and a decent decorating flower. Then there is the section with basic hats and some fun ideas for baloon costumes for children. The book ends with some ideas for baloon playhouses which are simple cubes made with the larger 350 balloons. It also contains some games such as the ring toss and a nifty trick with clear baloons and small loose balloons inside them. All in all it is a great resource for beginners, but those with more experience will find over half the book useless unless you want to pick up a few new twists and don't mind the price. If you're just starting out then this is a great introduction book. Even if it doesn't contain the essential Toe Twist.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best , so far...
I started twisting at my child's birthday party and, now I'm hooked. I wanted a book with good illustrations and instructions, and this is it. It has 5 difficulty levels and special tecniques.I don't have all the balloon sizes needed , but most items are made with 260 's(the regular long twisty balloons.)I have not been able to make the two-balloon headband, and I can't figure out why. It's only a level one, but it won't stay together. My cousin, who has a Harley, liked the motorcycle (it's a level 5 ).The flower and sword are repeats from another book, but these are more detailed. Have Fun !!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars *CLEAR* INSTRUCTIONS and Great Fun!
I got this book from the library before I bought it to confirm it's worthiness and it got top ratings from me! The instructions are *VERY* clear,so even if you've never made friendship bracelets before, you can start right away beacause it includes *ALL* the materials you need. The designs start at the easiest,so you can learn the basic knot before you proceed to more complex designs.
The Lowdown: A great book for the experienced crafter, the person trying to reach that level,or the pure beginner. Enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great kit for beginners
When I was a kid, my friends and I loved to make friendship bracelets out of embroidery floss. We would weave different designs and give them to each other as gifts. It was so much fun.

My best friend's daughter is turning 8, and when I saw this book, I knew this would be perfect for her. She is creative and loves jewelry. This book is the perfect starter kit for making friendship bracelets. Along with step by step instructions with illustrations for making simple to complex patterns, this book also provides a handy measuring guide and all the supplies needed to make many plain and beaded friendship bracelets. A variety of colored floss and beads (including blue, red, green, pink, white, and black) means that just about every taste is covered.

I highly recommend this product as a gift for any creative or crafty girl (or boy)!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's worth your money
After going to camp and making some bracelets I decided I wanted to try some on my own. I went and researched almost every book that had to do with this subject. I narrowed my selection down to three books then decided on this one. I was very skeptical but I can honestly say it's extremely easy to follow and was a great choice. The pictures are helpful and there are many variations of bracelets to make. It's great for beginners but there are also complicated designs for the advanced reader. It comes with everything necessary and I loved the colors of string it came with. I DEFINITLY recommend it!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent first introduction to knitting
Each children's knitting book has its own particular virtues. The most
exciting feature of Knitting by Judy Ann Sadler is that the Double Tail cast-on method
is presented in a children's knitting book. None of the other leading
children's knitting books,...illustrates the single cast-on (terrible for knitting your first row!) and
the knit-on cast-on (messy, in my opinion). ....

The reason that I find this exciting is that I have taught the double-tail
cast-on method successfully to quite a few children, yet I never had a kids'
book to recommend to them to use as a memory-jog at home. Now I do! .

The other unique feature is that Sadler recommends "marking" one of the

knitting needles with a little piece of contrasting yarn before you cast-on.
This allows her to avoid terms like "wrong side row" and "right side row"
for young learners. I haven't tried this yet with my knitting club, but
since it is one more visual cue, I think it could be helpful.

Projects are all knit on two needles: pom-pom scarf, rolled-brim hat,
ribbed scarf, slipper socks, cozy blanket, pillow, patterned headband, book
bag, mini-purse, striped mittens, and boa. All of these would appeal to my
elementary school knitters. In fact, I *know* I never would have thought of
a boa to offer as a knitting project for my kids, but I also know that some
of them would love to have one.

The color illustrations and photos are excellent. My only unfulfilled wish
is that Sadler would have included one of the popular rhymes for learning
the knit stitch. Kids really benefit from the rhyme because it helps them
visualize the steps of the stitch and also helps them remember the steps.

All in all, Knitting by Judy Ann Sadler is an attractive, accessible, and smart first introduction to knitting for children.

5-0 out of 5 stars My kids love to knit
My girls are 6 and 8 years old. They both knit and knitting is becoming all the rage in their Montessori school. This is a beautiful beginning to knit book. It's has nice, easy to follow pictures and simple projects. I love all of Judy Sadler's books. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars the best craft book
I know that all of the reviews have been saying for grades 7-10, etc. but I think it's great for all ages. I'm a college student, and most craft books have projects I think are boring, but this book is amazing. It has such a great variety of things, from lip gloss to tables, that I know I'll be using it for a while. It's a definite must buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Step by step for even the most uncrafty of people!
This book has everything you need to be a do-it-yourself fashion maven. Between the illustrations and the clear and concise instructions, even the most uncrafty of people (me) can turn a pillowcase into a skirt, make my own jewerly box, or create a beautiful mosaic table, all with inexpensive materials. The low price of the materials does not compromise the beauty and the overall effect of the finished product. I plan to gift this book to all the DIY girls in my life. Thanks, Jennifer Bonnell! Book Description

"In brilliant colors and on spacious double-page spreads, Demi depicts the origin of the Chinese holiday Ch'ing Yang or The Double Ninth Festival, a festival of kites that takes place on September 9, the ninth day of the ninth month. Long ago in China . . . [a woman] went to a painter of holy pictures . . . and requested a picture of a dragon, 'a symbol of wealth, wisdom, power, and nobility,' but instead of an ordinary holy picture she requested the painting on a kite, in order to 'fly it right up to the sky [so] the gods in heaven will see it immediately.' Soon everyone wanted kites for their wishes and prayers, and finally, Ch'ing Yang was born and is celebrated to this day. The kites are what's important here, and Demi fills the pages with airily desirable kites in the shapes of birds, insects, reptiles . . . and symbols captioned with their attributes. . . . This is a celebratory sort of book that is going to inspire some serious kite-making/kite-flying activities."--The Bulletin

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely beautiful!
The talented artist, Demi, has outdone herself in this latest book. It's a wonderful showcase of beautiful and brightly colored chinese kites incorporated into a story of chinese traditions that children can understand and appreciate. Imagine my daughter's surprise when she saw several kites in this book identical to those we have hanging on our walls at home. I highly recommend buying this book! ... Read more
