5-0 out of 5 stars Best room redecoration book EVER!!!
This book inspired me to redecorate my room and now it looks fabulous! 15 teen girls get their bedrooms redone (lucky) by genius Mark Montano and they all end up looking GREAT. Lots of color, lots of fun, lots of pink. Well worth the money to buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow wow wow!
Just got Super Suite for my birthday and I love it. There are so many ideas in this book, it was hard to decide where to start. I noticed some of the other reviews and they are wrong. This is the only good book out there for teen decor. Most books I have seen are boring BORING. This one was really fun and colorful and inspirational. I would tell any teenager to get this book for sure.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's okay
Many people say that it's a great book. And it is pretty good. There are quality ideas in here and many varities to choose from to fit your style. But the ideas were often sort of complicated (don't get me wrong, I'm not impatient or anything) and expensive, all you have to do is look at the room indexes. Often the designer spent hundreds of dollars and incouraged girls to buy new furniture. Also, the ideas in this book can't really be mixed together to create your own one of a kind style, they need to coordinate with their matching ideas. The instruction often do not explain themselves fully, and you are left hanging wondering what to do next. I give this book three stars for having ideas that are mostly too expenisive and a little drawn out.

2-0 out of 5 stars OK but not the greatest book I've ever seen on redecorating
I purchased this book for my daughter. There are some cute individual ideas in this book, but it is not good for getting an overall theme for redecorating a girl's bedroom. I've seen much better books than this one. I wouldn't waste my money on it. You can find better ideas on the internet for free. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool jewelry book for kids
The snappy, fun, and bright beaded jewelry in this book will motivate crafty adolescents to try their hand at making these pieces. The materials are easy to acquire where there are beading supplies, and the instructions are very well illustrated and easy to follow. The techniques are fairly simple, mostly using needle and thread. One of the pieces shows how to finish the ends by using a crimp bead next to the clasps, but all the others are finished by tying the ends in a knot around the clasps, and then sealed with clear nail polish. This repetition of technique keeps the process simple and eliminates the tools generally used in jewelry-making. Some kids might want some help, but once started, they should sail along making these coiled bracelets, strung bracelets and anklets, and earrings. There are also clear illustrations for making a bead loom, and for showing how to weave the beads on the loom to make Indian-look woven bracelets.

4-0 out of 5 stars A "Klutz" Inspiration: Great Artworks on fingers and toes!
~ - ~
We found this kit when Amanda, (age 11) was birthday shopping for her sister Kris's 10th birthday. We have had good luck with the "Klutz" series, and this kit was no exception.
~ - ~
The Polish that comes with the kit is easily peeled off. This can be an advantage or disadvantage, depending on your point of view. It does make changing the nail fashions quicker and easier. The polish was a good consistency for nail artwork, but any good cosmetic brand of nail polish will work.
~ - ~
The real bonus here was the inspiring book of designs, which contained easy-to- follow instructions for decorating nails with whimsical designs. There were ideas for the American Flag, paw prints, ladybugs, flowers, holiday designs and many, many more. My favorite was this adorable little "optical illusion" snake which seems to be crawling across your toes, when you paint it using all 5 toenails!
For preteens, especially artistically inclined girls, this kit was a great source of entertaining ideas.
~ - ~
I definitely recommend it. It's very good for ages 9-13. Kris loved receiving it for her birthday, and she even gets to use it sometimes, when Amanda isn't busy studying the book for new ideas!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Gift...
This is a cute book. It has hundreds of designs. It even tells you how to mix colors. The designs are great, even though some of them are crazy (Like the one of a mouth)This book will show you how to have beautiful nails in no time. I also like this book because it goes step by step in each of the designs. The nail colors are cute, too!

3-0 out of 5 stars O.K.
I didn't reallyt like this book. The nail polish that comes with this book is very poor quality, it's peel off and doesn't last very long. The designs are cute though. ...

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best Klutz books I've ever owned
This has to be one of the best Klutz books ever. It contains wild hands on art that let your creativity soar. It includes just about everything you need to get started. The art of this book goes from painting to stained glass to embossing (the included) copper. This book is a wonderful choice for any child (or even an artistic adult)

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantabulous!
My 12-year-old goddaughter loved this book! She's very "into" art and I think she'll have hours of fun with it. Personally, I was impressed by the whole "color outside the lines" mentality inherent in this book...participants (you can't just *read* this book) are encouraged to open it at random or flip through until someting appeals to them, rip out pages, draw, paint, etc. I may just get my own copy!

4-0 out of 5 stars buy this for the paper
this book assumes that you already know how to use scissors and glue. the rest is up to you! without giving heavy handed instruction, it lets kids (and adults) use their imagination to make what ever they like. the paper included is beautiful. in my mind, it's the whole reason for buying the book. you can make illustrations (collages) just like eric carle's. thanks to him for providing all his fans with this great pad of paper.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Total Disappointment!
Don't bother with this book, you'll be disappointed. The only thing worth while about this are the few sheets of decorative tissue paper that come with it. I know nothing more about collage after reading this book then before I bought it. Do yourself a favor and DON'T waste your time or money on this. There are MUCH more informative books out there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Just for Kids!
I was looking for a very elementary, how-to collage book for myself and this is a good one.

Because Carle wrote and stocked this book for children, it is very basic, but that was what I needed to get me over my fear of trying a collage of my own. His explanation of the format and process was very simple but very thorough. There are enough colors and designs of tissue papers to get anyone off to a good start in creating several different collages.

I think this would be a great gift for children and even for an adult who yearns to find the artist within!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Project for Kids!
When I put this book on my wish list months ago, I had never seen the book before. Now that I have the book, I can say that this is an excellent gift for a gradeschool aged child, and the tissue paper that it comes with is beautiful. As someone who loves the art of Eric Carle, I thought it was fun to work with paper similar to the materials that he uses in his art. The instructions are so easy, and with a touch of supervision, this book could easily turn a rainy day into a fun and creative project. This book would be especially good for those children who have read Eric Carle's picture books.

5-0 out of 5 stars makes a lovely rainy day activity book
Beside instructions and illustrations on how to do a collage, the book also contains 72 printed tissue papers to make finished pictures that look enough like Eric Carle's work to please any child. My five year old was delighted with her projects. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Allowing for creativity!
Super choice for a stocking stuffer. Let your child use their imagination. My son loves rocks, and loves art, so this was a number one choice for us. I also reccomend "Pipe Cleaners Gone" and "A Look Inside Dinosaurs".

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun
This book was used in an art class that my daughter was in. She loved it so much that I am going to order it for us. The truth is I got to paint a rock too, and I am dying to do more. It has great illustrations with lots of ideas.

4-0 out of 5 stars A fun book
I purchased this for my 7 year old granddaughter - we both enjoyed it! The book includes paints and a rock. Instructions include how to mix the paints for different colors and a myriad of examples and inspirations. Book Description

Boys and girls love woodworking projects! But most kids (and most parents) lack woodworking skills. That's where Kids' Building Workshop steps in. Craig Robertson, a master carpenter and renowned designer and builder of furniture, and Barbara Robertson, an art educator who specializes in teaching children, have developed an inspired method for teaching kids and their parents the basics of woodworking.

In this lively, fully photographed and illustrated book, the Robertsons present fun projects that teach essential woodworking skills. For example, the Spider-Web String Art project teaches kids how to wield a hammer, and the Drilled Name Plaque project teaches kids the safe and proper way to use a drill.

Building on these basic skills, the book moves on to intermediate-level projects. Kids learn how to make a sawhorse, a tool box, a step stool--all things that every carpenter must have to build bigger and more elaborate projects.

Finally, the kids are ready to take on seriously hip projects: a cricket cage, a book house, a dollhouse (and dollhouse furniture!), a lemonade stand, and a kids' play table.

The Kids' Building Workshop is a great primer that passes the hammer to a new generation of woodworking kids (and their parents).

5-0 out of 5 stars A Book Every Young Girl - And Boy - Should Have!
Mud Pies and Other Recipes is one of the most imaginative, enchanting, and FUN books that I have ever laid eyes on. All the magic of doll tea parties, forest outings, and mud pies is incorporated within the pages of this quaint little book.

In a most serious manner, Ms. Winslow will teach your little girls how to easily and properly prepare delicious doll-sized appetizers, soups, salads & sandwiches, main dishes, pastries & desserts, and beverages, using ingredients found in your own backyard. There are even suggested menu plans included within the last few pages of the book! And the simple beauty of Erik Blegvad's charming ink drawings depicting girls - and boys - preparing the foods only adds to the overall effect this book will bring.

Since my sister received this book several years ago, the memories that have revolved around its contents are numberless. Our mother and even my younger brother have joined us in the fun and togetherness that something as simple as mud and water can bring. I would recommend this to all mothers with young children, and highly suggest buying two copies if you wish for the book to remain bound together and clean for long. Perhaps if there were more books like this, fewer young adults would resort to their video game systems for entertainment rather than spend time out-of-doors.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Imagination Booster
The day I recieved this book, I walked right into my daughter's room to read it to her. The fact that it is written with a very serious air made her laugh all the more. (I recommend a British accent.) I explained to her that this recipe book was very special because I always made very similar meals for my dolls as a child and had always felt they were my exclusive ideas. I could see her eyes glowing with the magic of it all and we planned a dolly picnic for the morning. When I went to wake her up the next day, I noticed several little bears sitting around teacups full of some indistinguishable slop. She said, "I took your advice and made them some special tea so they could sleep. I used water, crumpled paper and perfume. And Mama, they LOVED IT!" For parents who want to make their children's childhood as full of fantasy and dreams as possible, this book is a lovely imagination booster.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still enchanting after 30 years
This was my favorite book while I was growing up. I would check this out from the Grand Prairie Public Library and head to the backyard with book in hand. Using pots and pans and cans and whatever I could scrounge, I would assemble the recipes, Sand Torte being a favorite. Although this was written for children, the magic still holds. Written in easy to read and imagination engaging language, this inspires the reader to try the recepies and to let their imagination soar. Delightful ink illustrations and witty writing makes this enjoyable reading into adulthood....a bonus, I found my new copy in the cookbook section of my local bookstore. A classic for the child in all of us.

4-0 out of 5 stars A classic that sparks the imagination, emphasizes nature
I grew up with the first printing of this book. It's a very special and whimsical approach - handled for the 'grown-up' sensibility of a 6 six old girl. My copy is always near by for a giggle, and I plan to gift one each to all the doll party hostesses I know. I hope these recipes for sweet memories will be as enduring for them as they have been for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a fantastic book!
I remember this book from my own childhood. I never actually owned a copy, but I checked it out of the library practically every week. It's a wonderful, wonderful book for little girls (and probably boys too!). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent except for the quality of the punchers
This book provides great ideas for young-at-heart adults who like to create their own greeting cards and gift tags among other paper media. I highly recommend this book, but advise that the reader purchases his or her own paper punchers separate from the ones provided with the book. The quality of the paper punchers are very poor, but seem in accord with the price of the book. If you are looking for inspiration and creative takes on simple punched shapes, this may be the book for you.

2-0 out of 5 stars cute book- cheaply made paper punchers
I was excited to get this books since I am an art teacher and know my kids would love it! Unfortunately, the punchers hardly went through a piece of notebook paper, much less anything thicker. One of the puncheers actually got stuck and it took quite a bit of work to get it open again! The book was really cute, but I was so disappointed with the punchers that I had to send it back.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent aid in embellishing scrap pages or anything else!
I bought the last copy of this from my local [store]! It was a gift for my daughter, and we have both enjoyed it. I searched high and low to find additional copies to give as gifts to my daughter's friends and cousins --- that's how good this is.

Another reviewer mentioned the small size of the products -- yes, when you're using the punches provided (but they are still very usable). The ideas are easily transferable, however, to uses with larger punches or even die cuts! My daughter has created some awesome embellisments for her scrapbook pages using the ideas in this book. Purchase and enjoy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good starter book
This is a great book for folks just beginning to create punch art. HOWEVER, be warned that the resulting punches are very tiny - the artwork in the book is enlarged to show detail. If you are trying to create archival punch art, you will need to get a glue pen or the adhesive and punches will get very unwieldy very fast. Also, the quality of the punches that came with my book was not great - I have to punch down superhard to get the punches to cut completely, and the heart punch fell apart in the hands of my 5-year-old. Overall, the ideas are wonderful and helpful, but the execution is not as easy as it looks! Buy this book, but be warned that you might have to invest more money in better-quality punches.

4-0 out of 5 stars Buy This Book!
I wanted this book for almost a year before I got it. After I did, I knew that I made a good decision. This book would be better if the paper they supplied wasn't on two sides of one paper and if they had more of sheets of sample paper. All of the designs are excellent though, and they are really easy to do! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to making Hemps!
I have to say that I love this book! I'll admit that it did not come with enough beads or hemp, but you can buy those cheaply at any craft store!! This book has so many patterns to try, and gives the simplest directions! I would definately reccomend this book to people, because it is fun and easy. *I would reccomend it for kids 9 and up*

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent Introduction
The knots are easy to learn and usually described clearly except for every twist of the spiral on the bracelet (about four separate knots) then the braiding cords start to twist, too. You can essentially change direction every 4 knots to take out the difficulty in the braiding cords. If this doesn't make sense, just try to do the spiral as described in the book and you will find the braiding cords get twisted up. Also there were definitely *not* enough beads. Right after getting the book, I bought a bag of plastic pony beads to practice more. I really enjoy making these bracelets, but overall I expected more out of this book. I recommend it as a decent introduction to hemp beading which is an exceptionally enjoyable craft.

4-0 out of 5 stars This book is KNOT good, it's great!
This was a good book, and I loved doing all the knots and especially not having to go buy everything for it. All you have to do is get a pair of scissors and begin. Out comes professional jewelry that you will love. So, I guess you are wondering why I gave it 4 stars. Because the knots don't stay. Several times the knots came out on the bracelets. If you want the bracelet to just stay on, it won't. If you plan to take it off all the time, the loop and knot idea is cool. Secondly, there are two designs that you have to used your own judgment on how big the loops should be and if it's straight. I'm a perfectionist, so that was a challenge for me. All in all, I am harsh just giving it just 4 stars, butI will still recommend it to my friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars It was awsome and I learned so much.
I learned lots of different knots. Some I never even heard of. Plus it comes with all the things you need.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Instructions!!!
This hemp book is the best one out there. I made so many awesome bracelets, anklets, and necklaces for friends in their banquet notes at Camp Wyo. It includes amazingly simple directions, beads, and 150 feet of hemp string. It's so easy! My friend Caitlin brought it to camp and everyone is now buying the book. Another job well done, Klutz! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars cute book
This book has a few original ideas. I got it for my son who loves to craft but most of the things in the book were too "girlish" for him. If you have girls this is a great book for them.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST SCRAPBOOK EVER!!!!
I know that a lot of my friends, including me, would love to have scrapbooks that are actually WORTH looking at. We've seen moms do it but we never seem to do it just right. This scrapbook was great because it provides so much for you. You don't have to spend hours cutting things, like trees or schools, out of paper because it is there for you! I wish they could've made it longer, but it is still a fantastic gift. All you do is provide pictures and information! The rest is there. They even have stickers! This is definately a great gift. I bought it for my friend's birthday and I ended up going back and getting another one-for myself! Buy this and you, or the person you are giving it to, will NOT be dissapointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Gift!
My daughter received this scrapbook for her 8th birthday. She absolutely loves it! She goes to bed working on it every night. She can't put it down. It's a great gift for any child. I just purchased several more copies to give as gifts. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for people of all ages!
All my brothers and sisters love shrinky dinks! This is a great item altogether! It's fun and easy to draw the pictures on the sheets, it's easy and it only takes a few minutes to bake. I had a lot of fun taking pictures from magazines and books, and I now have a collection of Harry Potter figures that I trased from the books. I highly recommend this book to everyone:0)

5-0 out of 5 stars Way Cool...for everybody!
I bought this book figuring it would be a great thing to do. I was right! Filled from cover to cover with imaginative drawings to trace onto Shrinky-Dinks plastic/paper, you can spend hours with your nose inside. :) You simply pick a picture or design you like, trace and color it, cut it out, place on a cookie/baking sheet, and bake at the required temperature! In a matter of minutes your designs are shrunk. There are instructions on how to make keychains and jewelry, both of which actually turn out very nicely. I'm sure adults will like this book, too. You can buy refills for the Shrinky-Dinks plastic once you've used it all up, which you probably will!

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't get enough of these books
I have been using shrink art platic for ages--as a crafter I use the shrink art refills for my own crafts--the plastic sheets can be die cut, painted, inked and coloured with pencils. So easy to shrink in the toaster oven.

I was so pleased to see shrink art packaged for children. The book is clear, simple, lots of ideas and everything together in one place. The book is careful to emphasize adult help with the actual "baking" of the finished art. My kids have created all kinds of things besides the designs in the book, which is what it's all about, isn't it?

your kids will love shrinky dinks
My daughter was given Shrinky Dinks for her 6th birthday. They were a hit among all of the adults aged 20 and older. My daughter asked to do some as soon as her guests had left. She traced and colored for an hour - (something I could not get her to do if my life depended on it.) Now every time she has a friend over she shows them what she has created and thats usually what they want to do.
An awesome craft project. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This author built London's famous Lions in Trafalgar Square
Henry Burcill, the author of Hand Shadows, was my great-great-grandfather. He was a sculptor by trade and his statues stand in London to this day. The most famous of these are the four great lions in Trafalgar Square, which he created with Sir Edwin Landseer. Written in an era when people lived by candle-light and gas lamp - hand shadowing was a popular entertainment. Henry Burcill's Hand Shadow books are treasures from a bygone age. I hope they never go out of print. ... Read more
