4-0 out of 5 stars Roar!
I have 5 volumes of the HOW TO DRAW series and I think this is very good one because it shows a variety of different characters, not just the title hero in different stages... It's a perfect reference book if you want to try your hand at drawing. Beginners will find it a challenge to "copy" a given picture following the step by step instructions. Artists with some experience will find the hints and a glance at the techniques used helpful. I missed Nala, that's my only critic!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful
How to Draw The Lion King from Disney is a very helpful guide to the aspiring Disney Animator. I bought it last winter at Disneyland and I couldn't wait to get home and start drawing! The pages are colorful, and the characters' proportions are displayed nicely; a great book. I would recommend buying it from Amazon. -= MG ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Roaring Success!
This book tells the story of a strong relationship between a mighty lion ruler, Mufasa, and his son, Simba. When Mufasa is killed, Simba leaves the lion pride, thinking his father's death is all his fault. On his journey, Simba is befriended by a kind warthog and meerkat.Simba adopts their carefree motto "Hakuna Matata". The young lion prince grows up with his two new friends not willing to accept responsibility. One night, he sees his childhood friend, Nala, in the jungle. She tells him about lack of food and water at home, yet, he still refuses to return. That night, his father appears in the twilight, telling his son to return home, help the pride, and become king. Simba goes back home and puts everything back into place again. Then he assumes the throne, Pride Rock and chooses Nala for his queen. They soon have a cub of their own. The Circle of Life will continue! ... Read more

Accompany Pooh and his friends from the Hundred-Acre-Wood on a tour of emotions. "Shh . . . Sometimes Piglet feels SHY when his friends are being noisy. Oh, no! Roo gets SCARED when he sees the shadows on his bedroom wall." This is a sweet little board book with simple illustrations for easy comprehension.

Feelings, is not my favorite in the Learn and Grow Board Book series, as I prefer the rhythmic cadence of Lisa Ann Marsoli's, 123 and ABC's, and Andrea Doering's, Colors, nonetheless the images are charming and the content is clear. Birth and up. ... Read more

Any book that features robots dancing around in their underpants is a book worth owning. William Joyce--creator of Dinosaur Bob and George Shrinks--brings his expansive, wildly colored illustrations to the story of a cute, buglike robot and his family. Rolie Polie Olie lives on a faraway planet with his mom and pop, his sister Zowie, and his doggie Spot. They spend a pretty ordinary day playing, working, eating, and getting ready for bed in this delightfully modest tale of robotic family happiness. Joyce's bouncy prose is engaging enough to be read aloud time and again: "You're Rolie hot and Polie tired. Your motor's zapped. Your piston's fired. Yes, okey dokey is the day when all you Rolie did was play." The illustrations are vintage Joyce, with a 1930s deco look that's polished without being soulless. The pictorial lushness is a nice counterpoint to the simplicity of the tale, which devotes a grand full-page spread to the little-known fact that "The Rolie Polie Rumba Dance was always done in underpants!"--Claire Dederer ... 5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT READING
My son loves Rolie Polie Olie. The illustrations are very bright, colorful and well done. We read Rolie Polie Olie almost every night. Great book for kids!!!!! We are ready for more and new adventures.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rolie Polie Olie
I previously worked in a daycare with toddlers and they LOVED this book!!!!!!!!!! I had to read it every single day....they had it memorized and would recite the book along with me. This is such a wonderful book...the pictures are wonderful and the story is so cute!! Great for any age :o)

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS is a GREAT one.
This book has been my son's favorite (and I do mean favorite) since he was 6 months old. He is now a little over 2. Initially, I'm sure it was the bright colors and clever graphics that won him over, although the prose has a lovely cadence as well. While the graphics still captivate him, he just loves this story of a day in the life of Rolie Polie Olie. I imagine that we read this book an average of 4 or 5 times a day. Every day. And it is still a joy both to our son and to us. Is there a higher recommendation?

4-0 out of 5 stars A Rolie Polie Good Book!
I bought this for my daughter when it first came out. She was a year old then, and now going on five. She still likes to read this book. She has always enjoyed reading, and this book still is one of her favorites at bed time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Pictures.
A must-have for all Rolie Polie Olie fans.

It mirrors one of the episodes but is fun anyway. The pictures/graphics are fantastic. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for colors!!!
My son is 3 and loves this book. The bright pictures and great prose is fun and a wonderful way for little ones to learn. Each night it is almost like playing a game together before bed!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great colors and lots of fun to read
This book was awesome. I grabbed this book from the library for my 10 month old son - he was always going to the book and giving it to me to read to him - we got to the point where I would say "where's the blue dots and the blue spots" and he would automatically go find the book - we had so much fun with this book that I had to go and buy the book for him.

4-0 out of 5 stars cute story and good teaching tool
My 20 month old really enjoyed this book--he's a big Olie fan. It's short and repetitive, which is exactly what toddlers like (and need). It's intended for one year and up. The colors are vivid and so this book is a great early teaching tool, but keep in mind that toddlers can really only learn one color at a time, so trying to get your child to repeat what color is on each page might be discouraging for you and frustrating for the kid! As a parent, I am grateful for very short board books, since my children are going to ask me to read it about ten times in a row. This fits the bill perfectly and should be pleasing to Olie fans and kids who just like stories.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for my 16 month old
My 16 month old has loved this book for the last few months. He loves the repition and the bright colors. He has not seen a Rolie Polie Olie video yet, but he received a electronic Rolie toy and a plush Olie for Christmas and really relates to the book. Unfortunately, there are not too many "Olie" things out there. We love this book, it's up there with Goodnight Moon!

2-0 out of 5 stars Something for my daughter to teeth on...
My daughter is 5 months old and loves to watch Rolie Polie Olie. My husband and I have grown very fond of it, too. Now that I am building her "library", I want to include books that will spark an interest in books throughout her life. I beleived that this book would be perfect because she is already familiar with Olie and the other characters on the show. HOWEVER...once I received the book and began to read, a feeling of ambivalence came over me. I was dissapointed that the words did not "flow" well and became monotonous. As a parent, (the one who is actually going to read this book), I had hoped for more. But, I'm sure my daughter will enjoy the art. ... Read more

To those who only know Mickey Mouse as the cute little character from cartoons, this is an eye-opener.He has many adventures with Minnie, Horace,Dippy(later Goofy),and Donald.Pegleg Pete is a real criminal, involved with gangsters and Communists.Mickey assumes responsibility, shows ingenuity and emerges as a true hero. It's too bad that the,"Walt Disney,"signature kept the work of Floyd Gottfredson,Ted Osbourne or Merril DeMerris shrouded in secrecy until the late 60s-but now a whole new generation of readers can see another side to Mickey Mouse-and understand more about his popularity during the 30s. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars How Many Howdy's (Rolie Polie Olie)
Rolie Polie Olie is my 23 month old daughter's favorite TV character. She now owns three of the Rolie Polie Olie books. This is counting book from 1 to 10 and will be a help in teaching her how to count. We plan to purchase more as they become available. The book "Rolie Polie Olie" that we purchased for her last fall was and still is her favorite book. Hopefully Disney will make more Rolie Polie Olie merchandise available soon. Right now the selection is limited.

5-0 out of 5 stars Learn to count with Rolie
At last a Rolie Polie Olie book I can actually give to my 18 month old without fear of having pages torn. He is mad for anything Rolie and this boardbook is no exception.

The book concentrates on counting the numbers 1 to 10 with each page having a rhyme prompting the child to find the appropiate number of items.

All the main characters from the show appear. The rhymes are quite bouncy and fun and the pictures, whilst not as detailed (background wise) as the show or storybook are still cute and colourful.

A fun way to learn. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Why is Disney Here?
There are pluses and minuses to this edition of traditional rhymes, but mostly minuses. The pluses are that the drawings are indeed very engaging for the baby/toddler age group that the book is meant for. Also, the rhymes selected are of good quality and, as another reviewer wrote, free of some of the darker ones you find in older collections.

That being said, why is Disney here? Disney did not invent or originally draw the Hundred Acre Woods characters, nor did it have a hand in the nursery rhymes. The original drawings by A.A. Milne had greater depth (mostly appreciated by the adult reader, but who knows?) and Disney's tendency to introduce itself and it's products everywhere has become annoying. This would be find if these products didn't carry it's strange social agenda with it (page nine finds Pooh guarding his house with *a gun*, albeit a pop-gun, but a gun nontheless. What could be more anti-Pooh?).

Lastly, the title is somewhat misleading--the rhymes are not "of" Winne the Pooh (although there are lyrics aplenty in Milne's original) but tradition ones.

In sum, this collection's presentation detracts from Milne, yet does a satisfactory job of selecting poems. Two stars for that (selecting poems is the easier half of the job).

5-0 out of 5 stars Another winner from Disney Press
I could not be more pleased with the content and illustrations in this book. Classic nursery rhymes with pictures of Pooh and the whole gang. Many fun and educational pictures to go along with rhymes like " Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes ". This book leaves out some of the de-moralizing stories you might find in other books that just seem out of date and leaves in great coordination games and encouraging rhymes. I would definitley reccomend this book to any parent or grandparent. Five stars just are not enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars Adorable illustrations of Pooh and friends add to rhymes
The illustrations of Winnie the Pooh and his friends work beautifully with the nursery rhymes that we have grown up with and cherish.

5-0 out of 5 stars fun, easy to remember songs for young children
Great book! I purchased it for a 3 year old who could not get enough of it. the pictures mixed with the short easy tunes, are a perfect combination to keep children entertained for hours.

5-0 out of 5 stars A book of classic nursery rhymes with Pooh illustrations.
This is an outstanding book for children who love Pooh. It is filled with classic nursery rhymes such as Hickory Dickory Dock, London Bridge, and Hush Little Baby. This book is a favorite with my two year old daughter, she can sing along with about a quarter of the songs and we have only had the book two weeks. If you are looking for a book of nursery rhymes your search is over. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A little Thin but an excellent book!
Even though you could go to walmart and spend the same amount or maybe 10 bucks more, you wouldn't get a book thats as good of quality as this one. This book isnt a journal at all its a memory book for your child. It's filled with pages to write down all kinds of firsts. IN fact, besides several pages for pictures, the whole book is about baby's firsts. some of them you wouldn't even think of. If you want a simple book without any BS then this is your book. Not to mention its very cute! I got just what I wanted when I ordereed this book although I did feel cheated for paying 10 bucks for it. its worth 8 I'd say.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very beautiful images!
I received my order in a very timely manner and when I first glanced at the book, the pictures and colors were vibrant and immediately caught my attention! As I flipped through this thin but very nicely made book, there are several spaces for pictures such as a sonogram picture to introduce your little one in its growing process, to spaces available to write in dates as of when your child first said his/her first word, to his/her first pair of shoes. I find that this book may be a bit too thin for the amount of items that might be pasted in it so it might tend to be a bit "overpacked" but I would surely recommend it to a Winnie the Pooh fan! The images are wonderful! ... Read more
