3-0 out of 5 stars It was good...at least the history
The series was really good...and I enjoyed reading it! But I didn't like having the romance in it with kids only 13 or 14 years old. That's too young for anyone to have a boy-girl realationship. Besides during the Civil War era kids DID not kiss until they were married! Otherwise the history you learn is great; I just wouldn't suggest reading it if you don't like romance. Try the American Adventure books; they're AWSOME!

5-0 out of 5 stars This series is one of the best books I've read!!:):)
This book is great. I like reading books that take place during the Civil War and I also like romance books. This was a combination of both. It is a good clean Christian book and was very well written. Once I started reading it I didn't stop till I finished. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Battle of Lookout Mountain
The Battle of Lookout Mountain is an excellent book. I have read the entire series and I love every book. I like how Mr. Morris has the two families "against" each other while Leah and Jeff are still friends. I think this is an incredible book. I encourage everyone to read this book and all the books in the series

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this book!
I love this book!I think that it has a great story line. Theway that the author portrays the heartbreak and sorrow from friendsand family being torn apart by war, and the hardships and horrers of battle and a soldiers life, are enough to make you feel the pain that the characters are feeling, but are not overwhelming. I recommend this book and the rest of the books in it's series to anyone who loves a good book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful read for anyone!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Overview of the World of Pooh
Christopher Finch is one of the premier authors on Disney and animation history.Winnie-the-Pooh: A Celebration of the Silly Old Bear is definitely one of his best works. While it may not quite match up to the sheer power of his most recognized book on Disney, The Art of Walt Disney, it is definitely a wonderful look at Winnie-the-Pooh.The book appropriately starts out with a look at A.A. Milne, the author of the original Pooh books. The chapter on Milne is clear, concise, and very informative. As the bookslides into the Disney version of Pooh is starts to "Disnify".There is the chapter on the four Pooh shorts, the chapter on each of the characters, etc. While these sections are interesting, they seem a little static. There could be more on the relationships and interactions between the characters. The book serves as more of a basic guide to the world of Pooh than anything else.

If you want a nice gift book that is a fantastic overview of how the Disney pooh came to be, you will probably enjoy this book. There is yet to be a book published, though, that truly delves into how Disney made Pooh such a worldwide smash success, but right now this is the definitive book on the Disney Pooh.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must for Collectors!
The greatest thing about this book is the large number of pictures thatshow the evolution of the "pooh" phenomenon. It has a largenumber of cell reproductions, artist storyboard sketches, as well asdrawings from the original books. The writing is also wonderful, coveringthe orginal books, each of the movies, and pooh collecting!A must have! I received one as a gift, andam ordering copies for my pooh collectingfriends. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT book!
This book was a real treat going through. Loaded with photographs, it tells the story as a script, shows the design of the characters, and then shows the special effects, sets, and other cool stuff. It's a great soveneir of the musical, and if you haven't it's a great book to read to experience the musical if you can't experience it on Broadway

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is wondefully elaborate and ornate.
This book is excellent. It is filled with gorgeous pictures from the Broadway musical. It also contains the complete lyrics and a story line of how the actual musical was produced. This is a definite for any musical theatre fan! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It really works!
Even though this book is meant for kids, I bought it anyway. I'm 16 and I really want to be an animator when I'm older, and surprisingly this book really helped me learn to draw all the "Little Mermaid" characters on my own, and helped me get a basic grasp of the cartoon anatomy. I have all the books in this series and I LOVE them all, they really helped my cartooning skills & they're fun to use as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars My First Ariel
For those of us who want to draw, but have little or no actula experience, this book is invaluable. By going through the fundamentals of the proper procedures of drawing Ariel and her friends, one will be able to achieve artwork that really looks like her, instead of being an incredible simulation. The only drawback is that there are not enough drawings of Ariel, but you get a sense of body position, facial reactions and making the drawing flow. It works for me ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this book!
I have not seen the movie, I heard it was scary for little kids. My 2 1/2 old loves this book, she asks for it again and again. I bought the CD and every time we get in the car she wants Lion King music. She knows all the characters, and even can tell me who is singing right from the book. Very well done. It gets the point across of what happens without being too scary (although I did have to explain to her why Mufasa can't come back anymore).

5-0 out of 5 stars KABLAMMY!
This book is so good it hits you--KABLAM! It's the best adaption of the movie. It's by far my favorite book

3-0 out of 5 stars Bad plot, but good drawings concerning the movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars One heck of a book!!!!!!!
I love this book called "Disney's Treasury of Children's Classics: Grom the Fox & the Hound to the Hunchback of Notre Dame & Gina Ingogila is the author of this book.

My favorite story in this book is Beauty & The Beast & Beauty & The Beast reminds me of The Indian in the Cupboard.

In Beauty & The Beast, Gaston stabed the beast in the back so he could get rid of the beast so Gaston could marry Belle. Then he falls off the roof. Then the beast at the end of the story becomes a prince.

I loved this book! ... Read more

What wonders a snowy day can bring! Rolie Polie Olie, a cute littlearthropodish robot, often wishes for snow in his frost-free land. One day hisdream comes true--the sun blows a bulb and snow begins to fall. Olie and hissister Zowie decide to build a buddy--named Mr. Snowie! As with the legendaryFrosty the Snowman, all is well until the sun returns to its bright, warm state, then suddenly Mr. Snowie is in danger. "What to do? What to do? They had afriend they couldn't keep cool!" There's only one solution. It's time to rocketto Chillsville where they encounter scores of frosty friends for Mr. Snowie, including one very familiar looking jolly fellow with a white beard and a bellylike a bowl full of jelly.

William Joyce, author-illustrator of Rolie Polie Olie, Rolie Polie Olie: A Little Spot ofColor, and many other popular picture books, delights young readers withhis quirky computer-generated characters and lighthearted adventures. Vividcolors, jaunty shapes, and playful, simple text are trademarks of Joyce'sunique, contemporary style. (Ages 2 to 6) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Rolie Polie Playful!!!!
My 2 year old son loves anything with Rolie Polie Olie. William Joyce's hardbound picture books are the best of the collection. The other board books are cute, and tough, but the picture books truly show off the great technique used to illustrate the books. This one uses fun language as well, and a friendship message to tell the story. I love the way names of things are changed, like "Klanky Klaus" for Santa... it makes reading these books aloud a lot of fun. I highly recommend Sleepytime Olie and the original Rolie Polie Olie picture books as well.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first
My kids love Rolie Polie Olie and the first book is a household favorite and when I saw Snowie Rolie right before Christmas I just had to get it. I didn't read it until later, after my daughter had opened it. The illustrations are as charming as ever and the plot is cute enough but the text is definitely lacking. There is no rhyme, no flow, no beat. It just is not enjoyable to read, if it didn't have such great illustrations it would be a total loss. Sigh. Please tell Mr. Joyce we want the rhymes back!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Fun Book For Children
The book "Snowie Rolie" by William Joyce is a very creative book for children. It sets there imagination off. The set is very aesthetic setting with cute characters. The rhyming and fun use of words, I think, captures the childrens attention and makes them like the book even more. I didnt have Rolie Polie Olie as a kid but my niece loves it. I think its a wonderful book for children.

4-0 out of 5 stars Help Mr. Snowie!
If you have a kid that is 5 or 6 this is the book for him or her.
They would like how the sun burns out and if your child has an imagination then its perfect. I liked it because it proves that the author has a really good imagination.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sloppy transcription of a TV show?
I made the mistake of buying this book for my son and my nephew without reading it first. What a disappointment. My son has loved the original Rolie book from the start. It was a must-read every night for close to a year. But he never chooses Snowie Rolie from his stack of Christmas books- I think he's had me read it a total of 2-3 times.

If Joyce wrote this book, then I won't be buying his future works. I guess he sold his reputation and his soul for the big dollars- shame on him! Actually, I don't think anybody "wrote" it at all-I suspect this book is a sloppy adaptation of a Christmas TV episode.

Much time was spent on the graphics, which are as cute as those in the original "Rolie" book. But there was no attention paid at all to the language, or even the story line. It's very disjointed- events on one page don't even flow to the next. The story seems almost random. I have to conclude that they selected specific pretty or memorable frames from a TV production and then tried to tie them together with some text. An unimaginative person sat there and probably said "we need an analog to the "rolie polie rhumba dance" and then spat out "they did the chilly cha cha". Totally uninspired. I really have the impression that the text was edited for grammar and typesetting errors and that nobody ever sat and wondered if the story was good or whether it even made sense.

For years we have loved the original "Rolie" book: the language is wonderful, the illustrations enchanting, and the moralistic story is perfect too. The original Rolie Polie Olie book certainly qualifies as a great piece of children's literature- but don't be confused by this pale imitation. ... Read more
