5-0 out of 5 stars Son couldn't get enough of it.
This is a great book from a great series. My 9 year old son loves them. He took the books every time we went on a road trip, read them before bed, he was even reading them instead of watching afterschool cartoons! They are well written and funny.

5-0 out of 5 stars Knight for a day
Knight for a Day was a really good book , one of my favorite parts was the weapons class with Master X . I would recomend this book if you like humor.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tom's Review
I thought this was a great book! I especially enjoyed the part when Master X was going to cut off Knuckle and Squint Squeaky's heads!! Of course this did not really happen...

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspired a School to Read
My son and I discovered this whole series of books when he was a first grader...perfect for him to read as a second grader now. In the spirit of Harry Potter and the Hobbit but not so complex that kid's lose the story line. Full of jokes and adventure, I cannot recommend these any more strongly for the 7 to 10 age group (depending on reading ability). We've had two impressive endorsements:

When we first began reading about Wiglaf, it was on a plane to Colorado. As I read to my son, I realized that other children were tuning in to the story. Several parents asked for the book titles and the author when we landed.

Also, late last year I read books 1-3 for a first grade class and have since read to the second grade. The library has been unable to keep two full sets in stock and the teachers have purchased their own sets. It has taken reading by storm as boys and girls strive to finish the series.

Oh yeah, and adults will get a private chuckle out of the humor and wordplay from time to time.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great book.
If you like wizards, dragons, knights, and magic read Dragon Slayers' Academy books. The best one is number five. It is about a kid named Wiglaf, his two friends, and his pig Daisy. Daisy can talk because a wizard put a speech spell on her and now she can speak pig latin. This book has a surprise but I won't tell you what or where it is. I recommend that you buy Dragon Slayers' Academy five, Knight For A Day. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Dragon Slayers' Academy #8 was my favorite!
I like this book because it has my two favorite book characters in it: Wiglaf and Zack from The Zack Files. I wanted to keep reading this book until I finished. This book kept my interest. It was a funny book.

4-0 out of 5 stars CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!
I really loved this book. It was funny and punny. It reminded me a little of "A Kid in King Arthur's Court". My whole family and I have read all 8 of Wiglaf, Eric(a), and Angus' adventures, and we can't wait for number 9! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Funny
Just great! Mordred lastest scheme to acquire gold is to marry off Wiglaf to get it! My children and I have all really enjoyed reading this book, and the other 7 books in the series. 5-0 out of 5 stars An awesome book
I think this book is awesome I've read the book two times My favorite part is when they go to get breakfeast and all they find is ell because the cook of the school was the cousin of the cook at Dragon slayers academy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wheel of Misfortune (Dragon Slayers Academy, 7
I just finished reading aloud book 7 of the Dragon Slayer books to my children (10, 9, & 7). We laughed out loud over and over, again. Personally, I was a little disappointed that no dragons were slain in this book but the kids didn't mind in the least. We especially loved Bragwort running around saying "Who?" and Zelnoc wondering why Wiggie would be bragging about his wart. Keep up the good work, Ms. McMullan! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars TOTALLY EXCELLENT
This book was great! I got it for my 9 year old son, because it was recommended by Amazon as similar to Harry Potter. It has many similarities, including humor, peril and awful relatives. The main difference is the length of the books. At under 100 pages, my son finds this book much less intimidating. I definately recommend this book for anyone who enjoys wordplay, adventure, and likes seeing the little guy win every once in a while. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars my son loved the book
I disagree with Moira from Detriot. My son & nephew love the Dragon Slayers series. Getting boys to love books is a challenge. These books sparked a natural high in them. They've both been caught with flashlights reading after bedtime and lights out.

4-0 out of 5 stars My 8 yr old son loved it
I disagree with the previous review, my son loved the book. His cousin, age 7, also loved it. Harry Potter is too much for this age. Dragon Slayer's is perfect. If you find a boy with a flashlight reading after lights out, it's a hit.

1-0 out of 5 stars BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!
If you are looking for a series that matches the charm and cleverness of the Time Warp Trio, or the Snarkout Boys, or Harry Potter, give this a miss.

The idea is fine - a school for would-be dragon slayers, run by a fraud who has managed to hoodwink his students and (apparently) their parents. However, this is clearly a series where a clever plot device has been overwhelmed by dull writing. Characters, dialoge and resolutions of plot are predictable, and not especially interesting. I read this one, #4 & 5, and so did my 10-year-old nephew and 8-year-old niece, and then we sent the books off to the church rummage sale. They are not keepers. ... Read more
