This encyclopedia can make anyone feel like a scientist! Not only does it have fascinating facts on everything from atoms to zephyrs, it also shows how scientists work--describing, measuring, and asking questions about the world. Filled with detailed, sharp illustrations and eye-catching photographs, this book could keep a curious kid (or adult!) occupied for weeks. The one- and two-page entries are thematically organized--much more useful than alphabetical entries for making connections and thinking about whole systems. Some of the best categories are "Reactions," "Materials," "Weather," "Space," and "How Living Things Work." But every entry has accurate, well-written text cross-indexed to related pages and to the "Fact Finder" section in the back, with charts, tables, and maps to use with each section. A glossary and index round out this thorough package. You may grow so attached to this fantastic encyclopedia that you never want to leave it behind.... For portability, we recommend the pocket version, which weighs less, but is jam-packed with great science. And for budding biologists who can't get enough of the "Living Things" section in the Science Encyclopedia, the The DK Nature Encyclopedia is sure to please. (Ages 9 to 12) --Therese Littleton ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Typos
This book covers almost everything school children will learn in science class. My children refer to it often to look for those extra new details concerning their classes. However they have discovered some errors (and this is the revised ed.)which I will call typos especially in the Periodic Table, which did dampen their enthusiasm with the book and shook their trust a little.

3-0 out of 5 stars Compact Visual Encyclopedia
This is a kid-size book even adults will love. It is small enough to toss in your purse or put in your pocket. There are over 1,000 full-color photographs, diagrams, charts and cutaway artworks. The information is organized into four key sections and packed with scientific facts, figures and statistics.

This book explains the basic concepts of "matter," "Kinetic Theory," "atoms," "elements (including the Periodic Table)", "Metals" and much more. A Timeline of Scientific discoveries is fun to read and lists discoveries up to 1995.

The Geography section will help children understand the planet more and it explains volcanoes, earthquakes, rocks, minerals, mountains, rivers, lakes, climate and weather. The Gemstone section was quite pretty with rubies, emeralds and turquoise in their natural state. The section on animals gives cutaway pictures that show the insides of each animal so children can understand how a cow chews its cud or how other animals digest their food. How does a whale trap krill in its mouth? This type of information was very interesting.

All I have to say is..."If God didn't design and create our wonderful world, I am not sure who did!" This book will give a child a basic understanding of main concepts, but some parents might want to consider explaining their own views about evolution and creation.

"All Men by Nature Desire To Know." -Aristotle, a quote found in: The Story of Philosophy by Bryan Magee

The inquisitive soul will enjoy reading this book!

2-0 out of 5 stars And this is a science book?!
This book has a very good section on nonbiological science, but when it gets to the biology, it has, in my opinion, a very wrong premise. It assumes macroevolution is a biological fact, when it is, in fact, quite the opposite. This premise saturates the book, and in doing so, biological facts do not fit together nicely at all. Microevolution has been proven by science to be a true, and normal, scientific occurence, but macroevolution, as presented in this book, is a mixture of very good imaginations (as manifested by their colorful illustrations), outdated theories, and a few observations twisted to fit their outlook on science. But as to the section on the non-living aspects of science, I commend this book. This part is unslanted and it has helped me understand many matters of science. Its illustrations make it voluminously easier to understand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent combination of graphical and textual learning
This book can clearly teach you the core basics of every branch of science. This book is a joy to read and see.

This book will appeal to old and young alike.

This book does not dwell on any subject for too long so don't expect exhaustive information on a particular category.

For people who like comics this book is especially suited.

With this book alone, anyone can have obtain an extensive understanding of the world of science and nature. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Rekindling Our Respect for Nature!
This book has succeeded in describing the great diversity of life on earth in such an interesting way with colorful photographs and new information that one can't help but stand in awe of our great planet. The chapters discuss : How living things work, ecology, classification, plants and animals. I was afraid that the animal section in this book would be a repetition of DK's Animal Encyclopedia, but thankfully it wasn't, I found new information everytime. For those who are not familiar with DK's encyclopedias one should know that the superior photography and layout of these books really captivate children's attention and fascination with this world.

5-0 out of 5 stars love of nature grows the more we know
I am delighted with this encyclopedia which I ordered as a present for my six year old. This handsome book has beautiful pictures and lots of information covering many aspects of nature. Attractive and accessible, it provides great rewards for the young reader whose love and respect of nature will grow as their knowledge expands. I expect it to be used in greater depth as my daughter grows older. For now, she loves to open it up and see what she finds - and becomes engaged immediately. I highly recommend it. ... Read more

It's a shame there is no image of this encyclopedia set because it is one handsome set of encyclopedias! It is a photo-realistic blue set with a photo built into the spine when you put the set together side by side (like you do on a bookcase).Fanciness aside, this is a terriffic set of encyclopedias that I bought when they came out in 2004.My 11-year-old has turned into an encyclopedia afficianado! There are tons of great entries and high-quality printing with many color photos.I'd recommend this set to anyone (and have recommended it to all my family and friends with kids). It's the kind of encyclopedia set you would expect from Grolier (Scholastic).Without a doubt, this set is worth every penny! ... Book Description

Kids love stuff that's gross. From the liquids, solids, and gases--especially the gases!--or their own bodies to the creepy, crawly, slimy, slithery, fetid, and feculent phenomena in the world at large, kids with a curious bent just can't get enough. Oh, Yuck! The Encyclopedia of Everything Nasty brings together, in one book, all the good things about some of the baddest things on Earth.

Exhaustively researched and impeccably scientific, yet written with a lively lack of earnestness, Oh, Yuck! is an ants to zits encyclopedic compendium covering people, animals, insects, plants, foods, and more. Here are vampire bats, which sip blood and pee at the same time so that they'll always be light enough to fly away; and slime eels, wreathed in mucus and eating fellow fish from the inside out. Oh, Yuck! explains why vomit smells; where dandruff comes from; what pus is all about; and why maggots adore rotting meant. Other features include gross recipes, putrid projects, 10 foods that make you airborne, and more.

With hundreds of cartoon illustrations and real-life photographs, Oh, Yuck! is the complete guide to the irresistible--at least to an 8-to-12 year old--underbelly of life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Iman's Review
This is such a great book. It has information on all "gross" topics. In it, there is everything from maggots to vomit. I think this book would be great for all 7-12 year olds. I especially like the "information boxes". The book has good illustrations also. Most of them are comical, but a few are scientific. Joy Masoff is a good writer that specializes in history books. Also, this would be a great find for a teacher or science teacher because all the things in this book is true science! There is nothing inapropriate in this book. The thing that I like about this book is that it is funny, yet educational at the same times. That is very difficult to find in a book now. The thing that I disliked most in this book is NOTHING! The bottom line is, THIS IS A MUST READ!

5-0 out of 5 stars laugh-out-loud funny
I bought this book for my niece and nephew, one of whom is a reluctant reader. They were both hysterical laughing for hours and my nephew has spent many an afternoon sharing favorite parts with his friends. The pictures are mind-boggling. Best of all, I have a science background and knew that that the scientific information compiled is extremely sound. I knew they were learning while they were laughing. Plus, I now have a reputation for being the coolest aunt in town.

3-0 out of 5 stars Subject matter intriguing - Reading level disappointing.
I thought this would be inspiring for a six-year old who is a reluctant reader, but after I received it, I decided to give it to his older brother instead. Categorizing this book for the 9-12 year old reading level is correct. Each topic is presented in 1-2 pages of text that even a brainy, eight-year-old bookworm got tired of reading. We all read it together during storytime, and while it kept the six-year old's attention, the blocks of text were much too thick and intimidating for him to attempt to read. The illustrations are also disappointing. The paperback is cheaply printed with one- or two-color line drawings or black-and-white photographs that are comical without much educational value. No diagrams or labeled body parts. Lastly, be prepared to hear about slugs and vomit for a few days -- and for the kids to share these topics during dinner with friends and family. It's too bad this wasn't written for a younger reader because I would encourage a pre-teenager to explore loftier topics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Laugh Out Loud Funny!!
I purchased this book for my 12 year old son for Christmas. I have yet to wrap it because I am so interested in reading it! This is definitely a pretty disgusting book from a mom's point of view but I know my son will absolutely love it! Some of the illustrations are so gross they made me laugh out loud. There is a lot of scientific information hidden in this humorous encyclopedia. I have learned a lot already and I am only up to C. This book is a "must have" for any pre-teen or teenager, especially boys who are fascinated by disgusting things. I can't wait for another book by this author! Maybe social studies could be this humorous as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm a grownup and I loved it!
I bought this for my kid, no I didn't, she's only 3, I b ought it for me and she can have it when she gets older. And I'm buying it for two of my friend's kids. I've always been fascinated with gross stuff like snot, pus, poop, gross foods, etc., and so are most kids. And by the way, my kid, and the two kids I'm buying this for, are girls. The facts are there, it's fun to read, and it might even get the kids to read more and practice good hygiene while they're at it (microscopic photos of worms and such may answer a few questions like "why do I have to wash my hands all the time?" Excellent. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An incredible book for kids interested in science
I think this is an incredible book. Our grade school children like to discuss science facts at bedtime. Reading from this book opens up lots of topics for us and keeps the kids fascinated. I'm thinking of ordering more to use as gifts since the Amazon price is so reasonable and the shipping is free.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Book
Our family really enjoys the format of this book. The 10 thematic chapters seem more coherent than the old books alphabetic style. Concepts are tied together rather than merely a list of factoids. There are plenty of ways to look up information alphabetically. I have to say we much prefer this verion. Great illustrations throughout. I wish the 10 volume set was available here.

This authoritative reference book brings world history to life, from early humans to the current war on terror. Along the way, it reveals riveting facts on the founding of the great Roman Empire, the revolution that changed France forever, the war between the North and South that unified America, the start of World War I and the Great Depression that followed, the first moon landing, and the end of apartheid in South Africa.

The encyclopedia is organized chronologically and then thematically within each time period. A timeline runs across the top of each page. Each section includes biographies of important people and features on art, architecture, and technology.

Learning Family Book Review

If you could only have one history book in your home library, this should be it. Written like an encyclopedia of historical events, the Illustrated History is an incredibly easy to access work, covering almost any historical even you could imagine. The illustrations and photos are excellent. The text is brief, but enough to get a basic understanding. I've begun using this one as a first source for history subjects, to get myself oriented, then continue into more specialised books as needed. The chronolgy is listed in the outside column of the pages, which makes thumbing through it quite easy. Though it isn't a history course in one volume, all of the more major events in history have several pages devoted to them covering archaeological data, social background, art and more. An outstanding book.

2-0 out of 5 stars An eye-catching disappointment
I have recently begun homeschooling my 6th grader, and am using The Well Trained Mind as a curriculum guide. This book was listed as a must-have for a classical education, which is based heavily in literature and history. I must say that when we received the Kingfisher History Encyclopedia, it looked very impressive. It is a hefty volume, with colorful pages and a timeline which runs across the top of the pages. However, after only a few weeks of use, my daughter has come to dread the sight of this book whenever it is time for history lessons. It is very dry reading. The one to two-page spreads for each topic/culture/era have so little valuable content, that there is little opportunity for the spark of interest to be ignited. They have so condensed the information, that it is mostly a list of dates, names, etc. And there are boxes every couple of pages listing the same dates over again. The text is written chronologically, so each time you turn the page a different culture is discussed, and what they were doing during that time period. This concept sounds better on paper than in practical use. While the time periods overlap somewhat, it does tend to jump around a quite bit. The continuity of what should be exciting and intriguing becomes very choppy and disjointed and as a result frustrating and boring. What might be interesting stuff becomes distracting and in some cases irritating when it interrupts another story. For example, the rise and fall of Rome, while severely abridged, may have still interested my child, if it had not been broken up by seven other topics. Huge chunks of time (several centuries)are condensed into a paragraph, or even a sentence or two. Other chunks go unmentioned. For example, the Qin Dynasty in China lasted less than 20 years, and got the same attention as the Celts, who were around for 500 years. The first 400 years of Christianity are covered in the same amount of space. So I am seeing my daughter becoming confused about the significance of these subjects, and not really grasping the "chronological order", despite adding new information daily to the 8-foot timeline we keep on the wall. Also,I am constantly amazed at what the makers of this book did not see as important enough for further discussion. For example, in our studies so far, The Great Wall of China has been depicted in a 1/4 page illustration, but only the date it was begun and a sentence or two on why it was built is listed. Julius Caesar is mentioned briefly, and simply that he was assasinated(!?), and I have yet to find any mention of Cleopatra. Overall, this book might be a good addition to your library just to have around for kids to leaf through, or as a springboard for other reading. It does mention cultures I never learned about in school (i.e.,the Guptas )but is not very useful as a reference tool, as there really is not any in-depth information on very many things. In it's effort to cover all bases in a single volume, Kingfisher fails to teach children what history really is -- a really great story.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Beware -- this is not the update to the highly regarded Kingfisher Illustrated History. Instead, it reformats the previous work, departing from the orderly 'accent of western civilization' theme, de-emhasizing Greek and Roman history in favour of lesser known, minor world cultures and in general, adds aggresive PC editing. Using this book as a homeschool reference will result in you needing to spend time explaining the PC biases to your children, and ultimately, needing to purchase an additional reference book.

3-0 out of 5 stars OK
This book is OK but then again I'm only twelve.
I would probebly give it 4 if I was an adult. I don't like History very much, but this is one exeption. I use it at school
and read it just for fun. It really is a great book. But remember, I hate history.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, I recomend to all!
I absolutly love this book. My friend is home schooled and let me use it a few times and I learned a ton of stuff about places and people I had never even heard about before. I definatly suggest it to all schools and parents of children who are home schooled. I just can't stop gushing about this book to people. Not only will parents love it, but the kids will love it to. Respected educational publisher DK partners with the world's leading online search engine Google to create the innovative e-encyclopedia, a hefty, heavily illustrated hardcover reference book for young scholars that also refers its readers to their exclusive, kid-friendly web site. Featuring more than 2,000 full-color images, the book covers nine major subject areas: Space, Earth, Nature, Human Body, Science and Technology, People and Places, Society and Beliefs, Arts and Entertainment, and History. Each of the 600 entries provides illustrations and brief, easily digestible tidbits of information about everything from why the Rhine River is so important to Europe to what the brain is made of. If a grey "e" button is visible on the page, that means a treasury of online resources will be available when you search the DK/Google web site for the designated keyword--links that include animations, videos, sound buttons, virtual tours, interactive quizzes, databases, timelines, or real-time reports.

Say you want to learn about rockets. You look it up in the index and find it called out in bold for page 101. Here you'll see a photograph and a brief description of a rocket and how it works. You'll also find the gray "e" button, signaling you to type in "rockets" as a keyword into the given web site. Once you do that, you'll find the following kid-friendly links: 1) How do you launch a rocket from a spinning planet? 2) Launch the space shuttle into orbit beside the ISS, and 3) Visit a rocketry and space flight gallery. Children are also directed towards downloadable images and more directories of related links. Subjects such as metamorphosis provide less-satisfying results, as the page gives the briefest of explanations and a ladybug larva-adult diagram, but no keyword link to the special web site. Still, this useful book offers the possibility of hours of browsing, both on and off-line, giving kids a rich, multimedia learning experience while assuring parents of a kid-safe Internet zone. 2-0 out of 5 stars If you know google, you don't need this book
This is a book for parents and children who are completely in the dark about google. It's the largest, most used search engine out there. Quite frankly, who doesn't know about Google at this point in time. Also, the links mentioned in this book that will be "maintained" and "monitored" and etc.--shouldn't parents be monitoring the sites that their children visit? Does anyone know the involvement and the amount of manpower this will take for a company to monitor ALL of these links? Next to impossible..yet only time will tell. What happened to good-old-fashioned Make Way for Ducklings? What about time away from "the web". DK is really for youngsters who can't read. YES, DK books are full of gorgeous pictures, but that's about...this is a hyped up title. You don't need it. Two stars for effort...I guess they are trying to keep up with technology?

5-0 out of 5 stars Keywords for finding information are highlighted
This unusual 'e.encyclopedia' highlights any subject where you can get extra information on the web - reports, video footage, and even sound recordings. It's organized so keywords for finding such information are highlighted, making it easy for students to use this e-dictionary in conjunction with the computer - but the visual displays and color paired with the basic facts are plenty to also make this stand along as a superior reference. Highly recommended: a visual and practical treat illustrating the positive marriage between reference book and Internet.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Innovative Encyclopedia
"The key aim with e.encyclopedia is to give kids the best resources on paper and online." ~Sue Grabham

Since 99% of public schools in the United States claim to have internet access and more than half of all school-age children are using the internet for homework, e.encyclopedia takes homework to the next level.

This book presents information on everything from Space Observatories to Philosophy. There are annotated maps, charts and timelines. It also has "information keyword buttons." They are little gray dots with white words or white words highlighted in gray. They are easy to find and are blended in all over the pages. When looking at information on volcanoes, I find a button with the word: volcanoes and a highlighted word: Lava.

By entering the site URL to a special area of the DK/Google site, you can find more detailed information. Then, you type in the keywords to find additional information, real-time reports, satellite images, virtual tours and databases. There are also downloadable images and just about everything kids need for homework and projects.

So, say you are researching Ancient Greece and have traveled through this book arriving at say pg. 376. There, you will find a picture of The Parthenon, information on amphitheaters and even a picture of an Athenian coin. To access additional information, you go to the "DK/Google" site and type in the keyword: "Ancient Greece." This takes you to a page with more options.

Explore everyday life in Ancient Greece
Important sites in Ancient Greece
Find out more about the Ancient Greeks
Examine Ancient Greek Artifacts

Then you click on "Explore everyday life in Ancient Greece" and are transported into a page from the history channel. So, in this way, you can find information super fast. It does seem they have made every effort to make links to only reputable sites so parents won't have to worry about children encountering inappropriate material. There are links to more than 1,000 useful sites.

So, do you have to pay extra to use the e.encyclopedia website?

No, it is free. The website address is located on the first page of the book. Once you purchase the book, the website is free.

This book covers a wide variety of subjects including: Earth, Nature, Science and Technology, People and Places, Society and Beliefs, Arts and Entertainment, History and the Human Body.

I think they have gone out of their way to make this kid friendly, however, even adults might be interested in finding many of the links. I found the section on seeing how an embryo develops in the womb to be rather fascinating. The section on new materials was quite interesting. Could seaweed be used to make a new plastic? Apparently there is material called "Seagel" that is made from agar and is the lightest solid.

You will also find answers to the following questions:

Are mountains still growing?
What causes tides?
How do scientists use the Quantum Theory?
Why is a swimming pool deeper than it looks?
Who were the first philosophers?
How are Musical instruments categorized?
What is a nanomachine?
Who really invented the World Wide Web?
How does the Internet Work?

DK excels in the illustration department. You will find a toucan peering out of the page on pg. 233 and beautiful full-color illustrations on every page.

Picture highlights: The picture of the Hindu Marriage. What a dress! Loved the picture of the nanorobots and the pictures for the diatonms were rather pretty. Also, who knew a pollen grain was so beautiful. The photography is spectacular.

DK & Google have joined forces to make homework fun. There is so much information here, I could spend hours just looking through page after page. e.encyclopedia will give your children a basic overview of our life on earth. Not only will children find these facts intriguing, once they find a subject of interest, they can take their knowledge to the next level by continuing their research online.

What a brilliant idea!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Introduction
My son who usually doesn't like to sit in one place very long, actually read the book for a stretch of an hour without any dangling carrots! I strongly recommend this book for any home library.

The book is organized by subject groups, ie birds, fish, plants, worms, etc. The pages are full of clear and short descriptions(just right for elementary school children), and wonderful pictures of the animals/insects in action. I found myself reading it with equal enthusiasm. It is a great introduction to the living creatures around us.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good intro reference book for kids.
Great information, but would like to find a good reference book like this that does not include evolution as the primary theory of why things are like they are. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Really great
We got this book for our inquisitive-minded kid; it's great because it's plainly written but not in a condescending tone (my kid hates that!). The illustrations are really good too. Our son tried a few of the internet links which were really great. Then it disappeared to resurface in the bathroom! Let's just say it's become a parent favorite too! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My son wore this book out from use!!!
I ordered this book from Amazon, because my sons had literally wore the spine off of this book...we had purchased the first book at a bookstore while on vacation and they absolutely loved it. It is has the perfect context for a 4-8 year old imagination with information in the form of statements that start with "I didn't know that...". Example, "I didn't know that sperm whales have the largest brains of any animal." I remember one time we sat down and read chapters of this book for 90 minutes straight...my oldest son was only 4 at the time and it kept his attention for that long and probably would have longer if mommy had not got tired.

If I could only choose one book to recommend buying for a younger child, I would recommend this book. My oldest son calls it his "big book of everything." I have a feeling that before my sons outgrow this book, I am going to end up having to purchase another copy to make up for this one being used so much.

I have two sons and they both have enjoyed this book tremendously. This is one of the few books that not only entertain my sons, but that I also find enjoyable to read with them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what we were looking for!
My six year old son asked for a book about wild animals and a book about snakes for Christmas. I found this book by chance in a local bookstore. It touches on a range of beasts and creatures including snakes, bugs, big cats, whales, dinosaurs, sharks, spiders, monkeys, and more. It is written in bigger print, filled with lot's of interesting information and facts, and has just as many great pictures. My son really enjoys this book. After opening his Christmas gifts, this is what he sat down with first, and continues to sit down with often. It has been a big hit. My husband and I have enjoyed reading it to our children, learning new facts along with them in an entertaining way. It is and excellent book and well worth purchasing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!
My nephew, 4 years old, loves this book! He loves "reading" all the pages, and looking at all the pictures. It's tremendously colorful, and interesting even for the adults. I definitely would recommend it for any child with an interest in animals, or for any adult who hopes to foster such an interest.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Preschool Resource
Before buying this book, I wondered if it covered enough animals to make it worthwhile. It does. Rarely are we disappointed when we reach for this kid-friendly encyclopedia. Some entries cover several similar animals, such as the entry for the Kangaroo and Wallaby.

Each entry contains a nice combination of illustrations/photographs and text. The information is nicely geared toward preschoolers and younger elementary-aged children. So far, it's been able to answer most of the questions of my very inquisitive 3 1/2 year old.

The book contains a very nice table of contents, glossary and index. While finding information on animals, my son has also learned how to use these handy reference tools. However, the book does not contain a map. A map would be a welcome addition since the book often mentions where the animals live. We use a separate map/globe/atlas but it makes the whole process more bulky.

Several of the entries cover animal-related infomation: camoflage, communication, conservation, coral reef, defense, evolution, habitat, migration, and reproduction. There are also separate entries for amphibian, insect, mammal, and reptile.

The book contains some hand-on art and experiments for a few of the entries. The ones we have tried are very age appropriate for my 3 1/2 year old.

We've referred to this book a lot. Judging by the quality of information and the interest my son shows in it, we'll continue to do so for quite some time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jason's approval
My son Jason just loves this book. He chooses an animal fromthe book each night for a bedtime story, where I make up a story aboutthe animal using some of the facts from this book. The pictures are wonderful and full of color. The whole family has learned a lot from this fact filled book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars C'MON KIDS, IT'S ADVENTURA ANIMALIA!
Written with the collaborations of capable advisors, this is the book, which any kid who wants to journey into the animal kingdom would appreciate.
Essential for both primary and secondary school children, the coverage of this book is good: just as its details are moderate. It is colourful, well-illustrated, and embraced a wide variety of species.
In addition to its complementary cladograms, this "National Geographic Animal Encyclopedia" included habitat details of each animal; as well as their simplified taxonomies. It is a carefully arranged atlas, whose outlook is educative. A good insight into the Kingdom Animalia!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Animal Book!
I bought this book as a gift for a friend's daughter (haha - even though giving a kid a book in this day an' age is considered as tasteless and square as giving your dad a tie), but of course I sneaked a peek at it myself and was thoroughly delighted with it. The layout was great and the information concise enough, yet not too overloaded, so as to keep kids interested.

National Geographic has done (as always) a great job on this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars National Geographic Animal Encyclopedia
From aardvark to zebra this volume is an excellent introduction into the world of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, fish, insects, and other invertebrates. It is informative, concisely written, and beautifully illustrated for the 8 to 13 year old child. Consultants for each animal classification are among Britain's and America's top scientists and teachers. In all, it's just what you'd expect from the National Geographic Society ... Read more
