Hitler mixed fun with paramilitary training to lure in the trust of the german children. One of the ex-hitler youth members stated that they played games and took field trips but they also learned about spy training and sabotage. during the later years of ww2 (1944) berlin was hitlers last strond hold and it was a pathetic hold at that. hitler sent men and boys ranging from10 to 70 to fight for his beloved land. out of the fivethousand that were sent in only 50 made it out alive. ... Ideal reading for children ages 6 to 10, Dyan Blacklock's The Roman Army is a wonderful introduction to the Roman army of the second century AD. Victorian Vapours
All of Mary Dobson's "Smelly Old History" books are an excellent way for elementary students to learn history and take whiffs of the many foul smells along history's timeline. The kids get so excited to smell the next foul smell they forget they are learning historical facts as they go. My first grade boy loves the books, but loves scratching the smells best. Some of the facts are a bit beyond 1st grade and younger, but they will still love the books. Ideal for 3rd-5th graders, who have some knowledge of ancient history and can remember names of people and important events in history. Excellent and fun choice for any elementary age student as a gift or for school.

Step into Ancient Greece
This is the best series of books I have found for history for 9-12 year olds. I teach 4th and 5th graders and they love these books. They have interesting pictures and are written at the perfect level. I like all the art project ideas they include, the organized method in which they are written, and the timeline which runs the bottom of the pages. This is a great resource.
