4-0 out of 5 stars A curious story
I am reading this in my first grade class. I can't wait to get to the next book. People in this story are so curious. Once you start it, you want to get to the end and find out what happens.

5-0 out of 5 stars great boy's book
I remember hearing these stories as a child and loving them, now my son is loving them too. I would recommend these to kids ready to listen to simple chapter books. The stories are cleverly written so adults can enjoy the reading too. We like to read this series aloud to the kids, and if you read one they will want you to read all of them! Some nice illustrations accompany the stories.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Journey Home
Freeing the dragon in the first book (My Father's Dragon) was only half the journey. Elmer now needs to get back home. The dragon is so thankful he offers the boy a ride. But when a storm blows them off course, they find themselves on an island with canaries that are dieing of curiosity. Can they help the birds and still get Elmer home in time for his father's birthday?

This book is a fun sequel to the original. It doesn't quite hold up to the nonsensical fun of the first one, but is still a great read. Early readers will enjoy being able to get through the short chapters themselves and should enjoy the plot and characters.

This series is the perfect series to use to introduce kids to reading. They'll be able to handle the story and characters well and enjoy the journey to another world. Pick them up today and start them on the road to exploring other worlds through books.

4-0 out of 5 stars Don't Forget To Read Elmer And The Dragon!
Elmer And The Dragon by Ruth Stills Gannet

Have you ever ridden on a dragon? This book is about Elmer and the dragon. After Elmer rescued the dragon from Wild Island the dragon was going to fly Elmer home. But a storm hit and blew Elmer and the Dragon off course. They landed on a sandbar a couple yards from an island. The next morning Elmer and the Dragon went to the island. When they got to the island the Dragon said ," I'm stiff." Will Elmer and the Dragon get off the island?

I liked the part when the Dragon ate some tangerine peels and said they were delicious. It was kind of funny because tangerine peels would be gross to eat!

I think the author was trying to show people perseverance. Elmer and the Dragon were trying to go home when the storm hit. Even though they ended up on a sandbar, they still kept trying to get home.

5-0 out of 5 stars Such wonderful childhood memories
This book, along with the other two, were my favorites around 3rd or 4th grade. They are exciting and fun and emotional. Any child that reads these will remember them forever! ... Read more

When ferret Swartt Sixclaw and his arch enemy Sunflash the Maceswear a pledge of death upon each other, a young creature is cruellybanished from the safety of Redwall. As he grows, he seeks revenge onthe people of Redwall and finds himself embroiled in a hostile battlewith far-reaching consequences.

An epic tale of Redwall from the pen of master storyteller BrianJacques, Outcast of Redwall is a kaleidoscope of color, range, and emotions that culminates in a bitter contest between good and evil.None of the passion of the earlier Redwall titles is lost, as some ofthe most cherished landscapes and best-loved characters from previousbooks are revisited, with a wisdom and clarity that has developed andendured.

On a basic level, this is a marvelous fantasy adventure story. Lookdeeper and you will find that Outcast of Redwall, along with theother titles in the series, has a divine, enduring quality that ranksit among he best in children's literature. --Susan Harrison ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Classic Tale of Good and Evil with a Twist
The book is good reading and the plot is action-packed with characters that are well developed and imaginative. Of the main characters Sunflash the Mace, my favorite, is a powerful leader of good. Swartt Sixclaw is the vengeful force of evil in the story, and his son Veil Sixclaw is the outcast referred to in the title. Veil, who was abandoned as an infant, has been raised at Redwall Abbey by the kind mouse maid Bryony. Veil is a combination of good and evil and is a mystery throughout the story. His wicked behavior causes him to be thrown out of Redwall. As a result, Veil struggles with his emotions and the difficult choices he must ultimately make. In the end, Veil surprises the reader with his uncommon act of heroism. The author, Brian Jaques, grabs the reader's interest by including in the story the elements of war, love, violence, evil and friendship. I really liked this book and think that it should be read by anyone who enjoys action stories and just plain good reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Outcast Of Redwall By:Brian Jacques
"Eeulaliaaaaaa!"
The camp came to life instantly. Two vermin fell under the club as the badger threw himself at Swartt. Before the ferret had half drawn his sword, the badger's club thudded hard against his foe's six-clawed paw. Swartt screeched and fell back injured, yelling to his creatures, "Stop him! Kill him!"

This is just one of the many action-packed scenes from The Outcast of Redwall. The author, Brian Jacques, puts up a compelling performance in this novel. It is an epic story with a great mix of action, adventure, and drama. It is a long book, over 300 pages, but is worth the time and effort to read it.
There are many characters in The Outcast of Redwall, but I'm going to limit them to just the main characters. First, there is Swarrt Sixclaw. He is very cruel and ruthless. He commands a large army. Then there is Veil, who is also pretty cruel, but not as ruthless. He gets kicked out of Redwall. There is also Sunflash, who is a Badgerlord. He is Swartt's archenemy. He is the protagonist. Finally, there is Skarlath. He is Sunflash's best friend. Skarlath is usually the wiser between himself and Sunflash. He is also usually a lookout: as he is a kestrel (a bird of prey).
Basically, the story is about a Badger Lord named Sunflash and a ferret warlord named Swartt. Swartt and Sunflash are archenemies. Later on in the story Swartt has a son named Veil, who gets taken in by the creatures of Redwall Abby (a great abby made of red sandstone). He commits a terrible crime and gets cast out (hence the title The Outcast of Redwall). Swartt, Veil, and Sunflash end up meeting, and one final battle takes place. But... you'll have to read the rest to find out!
In the end you learn that there is good in everyone, and that it doesn't matter what someone acts like or looks like because they still can be good at times. Also, it doesn't matter whether you are the son/daughter to a dishonest, deceitful, or a cruel person; you can still be a courteous, kind, and a friendly person.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outcast of Redwall
Veil, a ferret in Brian Jacques's book Outcast of Redwall, is raised in Redwall. Son of a warlord and a vermin, he doesn't listen to the advice of his elders and caretakers but leads a life full of mischief. When he is thrown out of the abbey, Bryony, his adopted mother/friend/advisor, goes after him. She still believes there is still some good in him. Is there?
Sunflash and Skarlath had been friends since they were very young. They were true friends, warning each other of danger and helping each other in times of need. Would it always be like that?
This book is a great book about having faith in others and being a good friend. I like it because it is one of the typical Redwall books with badgers, otters, squirrels, mice, and hares, but it's different than all the rest because in not one of the other ones has a vermin, in this case a ferret, been raised in Redwall. I like that uniqueness about this book. I also like how it shows that even if someone has been bad all their life, they can still do good things.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outcast of Redwall
I think Outcast of redwall is the best book in the redwall series. All the characters are really intresting(especially Veil). Its got lots of action, is really funny, it has lots of different and intresting animals, it is very exciting, has lots of funny songs, hard riddles to solve, great food, intresting words, lots of different forts and castles, each type of animal has its own accent and personality.

4-0 out of 5 stars Book 8 rocks
A excellent story about good versus evil. A theme that looks can be decieving. Just because some and looks and acts bad doe not mean there is evil inside of him.

Sun Flash the Mace the Badger has sworn to slay the Evil Swart six claw. To protect Salmastron and Mossflower from the Evil Swart six claw.

It called out cast of Redwall because Swart the Fert has a soon who he abadoms on the battle field. He is addopted by the Redwaller. He is hate by must the people he is seen as evil does many bad thing. The only person who respect him is the Grand daugther of Gonf. Yes Gonf from Mossflower and Legend of Luke.

Year go bye Swart is now and Adult so is sun Flash and he is big and he is a big buff badger. I mean it when Jacques wrote this series he decide to Make the young and middle age badger adnormal strong.

Viel at the end of book two is exiled from Redwall from posioning one of the creatures living in the abbey. He goes and is filled with angry and rage. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars prince caspian
Lucy, Peter, Susan, and Edmund have viseted narnia before, and they will visit it again. Narnia is a country that you can only get into if you believe. If you enter it in one place, you can not enter though that place again, once you come out. The four kids end up in Narnia and they are on a mission. Prince Caspians father, Miraz is trying to kill him. The kids have to stop him with the help of Aslan, the lion, and Trumpkin the dwarf. Also many other mystical animals.

5-0 out of 5 stars Prince Caspian/Buba Jones
I'm doing a report on the book Prince Caspian. The author is C.S.Lewis, who also wrote the novels The Magicians Nephew,The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and four other fabulous books. Of a scale of one to ten I would give it a nine. The book Prince Caspian was published in 1956.The main characters are Peter, Lucy, Susan, Edmund, and Prince Caspian. Prince Caspian isn't exactly a prince because he does not come from the same family as the king. Peter, Edmund, Lucy, and Susan are kings and queens of Narnia. The book Prince Caspian is the fourth of the seven novels of Narnia. The world of Narnia is a magical world with fauns, other stuff like giants. The main characters want to defeat the evil king Miraz, and put Caspian on the throne. The characters Edmund and Miraz have a duel and eventually King Edmund wins and mirazes army surrenders and they put the new King Caspian on the throne. I think that the moral of this story is "have faith".The characters learn to trust their little sister Lucy, although she is allot younger. I also think that all of the characters become more adventurous. I really loved reading this book, and suggest it to everyone from 6 to 13. I think that it is better to read it themselves, but it doesn't matter about that. It is still a very good book.

5-0 out of 5 stars the lion the witch and the wardrobe

For this enchanting novel Brian Jacques has brought to bear theexperience of his eventful and adventuresome life, a life which hastaken him all over the world and seen him variously described as folksinger, playwright, and broadcaster. No doubt his usual writingenvironment--garden in summer, conservatory in winter--provides himwith the ideal theater for observing the wildlife on which the book'sunusual central characters are based.

It is, perhaps, appropriate that the story line revolves around thetheft of the famous Redwall Tapestry, for Marlfox is a richlywoven tapestry, skillfully running together threads of the magical andmythical with the "natural world," to give its audience a heady blendof fairy tale and medieval adventure. The result is a tale of grandthemes and conflicting human passions played out against a backdrop ofhumor and uncertainty; yet the author manages never to lose sight ofthe reality of life as experienced by the human and animal kingdomsalike.

Young readers will gorge themselves on this literary feast, a spreadworthy of comparison to other classics in this vein such as TheHobbit, Duncton Wood, The Mythical Knights of the RoundTable, and the stories of C.S. Lewis. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Another Great Read by Brian Jaques
Following in the tradition of his previous books Brian Jaques starts off this delightful adventure with a whole knew set of characters. The part that Brian readers will most enjoy is the connection between this book and the other books, allowing the reader to travel along with characters in their adventures. The apperance of the Marlfoxes brings in a mystery and gives the experianced Redwall reader a chance to quess to how they began. At the first introduction of these creatures I began to wish for a history on these fine characters. I sincerely hope thatt Jaques gives us a book compiling the Marlfox history. The one low point in the book was the carelessness of the abbey dwellers toward their children. They seem to be unconcerned with the younger ones(dibbuns), although this may be put in because of the days of peace that everyone at Redwall Abbey has experianced. Overall I recommend this to all Redwall fans as a way to explore farther into Mossflower. For those starting out on the series though I would suggest an earlier book that gives more background into the tale.

5-0 out of 5 stars Action Packed Adventure with Friends
In Marlfox Brian Jacques takes you to peaceful Red Wall Abby. Until the pure evil Marlfoxes come to plunder the abbey. The humble Redwallers must learn new fighting skills to defend the abbey from the Marlfoxes and their army of water rats. The Marlfoxes steal something of great value to the Redwallers and 3 young Redwallers set of to reclaim it and restore it to its rightful place in Red Wall Abby. In the beginning of Marlfox, Brian Jacques's 11th book in the Red Wall series, the story starts off in Mossflower wood. The Swifty family of nomadic squirrels encounter the two marlfoxes magical, evil ax wielding foxes, Ascord and his sister Vinam. The two marlfoxes try to capture Jangler Swifty's daughter, Songbreas (Song for short) to take back to there mother and Queen Sith who must be surrounded by beauty at all times. But they can outfight Jangler Swifty and both end up injured. Later that day the Swiftys arrive at RedWall Abbey to warn the Redwallers of the dangerous Marlfoxes. They find a small band of actors there that encountered the Marlfoxes too. The Marlfoxes and their Water Rat allies try to plunder the abbey but the Redwallers hold them off in a gruesome battle. One marlfox slips in to the abbey with four water rats and steal the magnificent tapestry of Martian the worrier and take it back to the castle Marl on the hidden lake. Four young Redwallers set of to reclaim the stolen tapestry. The four companions made many new friends, allies and even three enemies. One important friend is Mighty Megraw, an osprey (a fish eating hawk). And Song finds her long lost grandfather living with some hedgehogs. Mighty Metegrew, song's grandfather and his hedgehog friends help Dann, Song, Deppler, and Burble free the slaves and restore the tapestry back at Red Wall. I loved this book because it has funny moments. It is also action packed. It shows what friends are for. If I had to rate this book on a one to ten scale it would be a ten. I strongly encourage you to read Marlfox.

5-0 out of 5 stars Michael ...
The summerization of this bok can be explained in different ways. At the beginning it tells about different groups of characters encountering different bad guys, which are all marlfoxes. Six marlfoxes, two each go out and meet three groups of animals. All of the good guys go to Redwall to warn the villagers that marlfoxes are among the Mossflower Woods. They all meet up at Redwall and team up against the marlfoxes that try to steal the tapestry of Redwall. One by one good guys and bad guys are killed and murdered at Redwall. The marlfoxes steal the tapestry, and the smartest, slyest marlfox, Mokkan, steals it from the other marlfoxes. After that four young warriors from Redwall go out to retrieve it. Meeting many friends along the way, the four young warriors travel to the Island of Marl. This is where the marlfox Queen Silth lives, later on to be Queen Lantur because of Silth's death.
With help the four young warriors get to the island and free some of the slaves. The slaves help to fight the guards on the island. Three of the four warriors go to the king's room to take back the tapestry. The escaping marlfox, Mokkan, is later strangled and drowned by one of the slaves. In the end the four young warriors become leaders of their groups or tribes.

3-0 out of 5 stars Marlfox
Marlfox is a rather good story, but it isn't one of Brian Jacques' best. Redwall has no leaders except Cregga Rose Eyes, who refuses to be an Abbess, and the cellarkeeper from The Long Patrol is still alive, Gurrbowl. How that is possible I do not know unless moles live forever. Also the adventuring part is quite boring and the White Ghost part is a bit ridiculous.

5-0 out of 5 stars best book out of the previous 10
This is a very good book. I got hooked on it right from the very first page and couldn't wait to find out what would happen. This eleventh installment of the Redwall series is one for the ages. You should hurry and read this book. I think you'd enjoy it. ... Read more

As they travel to Dread Mountain, Lief, Barda, and Jasmine find a clear spring. But an ominous sign makes them unsure. They are thirsty, and out of water. They drink, and later discover the entire truth of Dreaming Spring. They also meet the Kin, a fabled creature thought to be extinct. The Kin take them to the mountain, but their only young follows. Can they care for her, and themselves, too? She proves to be helpful, and as they learn about what happened on the mountain, they are imprisoned by the Dread Gnomes, Gnomes that live on the Mountain, under the rule of a toad-like creature, Gellick. The fifth gem, the emerald, is inbedded in his brow.

I liked these books a ton. I am a big fantasy person (harry Potter, Lord of the rings, tamora pierce, etc) and i thought they were really good. one of my best friend lent them to me and i had the whole series (and deltora shadowlands) finished within, like, a week. I am in 7th grade and a big reader (at least two hours a day) and these books are great (but not as great as tamora pierce).

4-0 out of 5 stars Dread Mountain
Yes I do like this book. It is a great book for whoever likes adventure. It is confusing if you don't read them in order. It has 128 pages. This book is hard to put down. Once you start reading you can't stop.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dragonlance for the younger crowd!
This series of books not only made my 4th grader who loves to read disappear into it's pages for days on end by also entranced my 5th grader who thinks comic books are real books. The most wonderful part of this series is it's complete lack of that boy/girl mushy stuff that quite frankly my kids don't need yet another dose of!

4-0 out of 5 stars A good prequel to The Mists of Avalon
I read this book after reading The Mists of Avalon, but I have not read The Forest House. I would recommend reading this book before reading the Mists. I assume it would be best to begin with The Forest House.

This book is divided into three distinct sections in which the characters reincarnate into new characters over time. Their task is to remember who they are and decide whether they will give their lives to fulfill their destinies. The characters struggle to learn whether they are hearing the true voice of the Goddess or their own egos.

In the first two parts, I found myself flipping back and forth quite a bit to the map of historical
Britannia. I found some of the details on warring factions and battles tedious.

My favorite section is the third, in which we learn about Ana, the high priestess of Avalon, and her daughter Viviane. I love the way she developed these characters, and the mother and daughter power struggle. The setting is mainly in and around Avalon itself. I also enjoyed learning about figures who we also found in the Mists of Avalon.

4-0 out of 5 stars An interesting link
After reading the _Mists of Avalon_, I considered it totally impossible for any book to even approach that elegance of writing. However, with _Lady of Avalon_ one does find trace elements of that wildly beautiful imagery that Marion Zimmer Bradley so masterfully captured in _Mists_. I would definitely recommend this book as a...stepping-stone, if you will, to greater understanding of MZB's Avalon.

The story itself is fairly straightforward, in three parts: the life and death of Gawen, son of Eilan; the Roman-era Carausius and High Priestess Dierna; and the more familiar Viviane's life as a young adult, from her childhood through the day she became High Priestess.

With Gawen, one finds the continuation of the Sacred Line as was started by the High Priestess of the Forest House at Vernemeton, Eilan. Those who have read _The Forest House_ have already heard the long tale of Eilan's and Gaius Macellius Severus Silucirus' forbidden union which produced Gawen. In _Lady of Avalon_ it is revealed that after his mother's and father's violent deaths, Caillean took Gawen to the Vale of Avalon. There, he grew to manhood, had a child with the daughter of the Queen of Faerie, Sianna, and subsequently was murdered by Romans (a common theme in MZB's Avalon, isn't it?).

After that sad episode the Sacred Line goes through many generations (MZB talk for "time passes") until the era of the Roman Empire in which Carausius and Dierna are the incarnations of the Sacred Line. Because of a twisted love triangle, they end up conceiving a child, after which Carausius is subsequently murdered by Romans.

Many years later, Ana is the High Priestess, the Romans are somewhat of a joke, and her only living daughter, Viviane, is taken to Avalon, where she eventually becomes a priestess and has her short-lived daughter with the son of Vortigern.

In all, this book was passionate and fantastical, while remaining true to MOA. I would definitely recommend it to any Arthurian fan.

4-0 out of 5 stars The weakest of the trilogy but.....
still quite good.

LADY OF AVALON does not have the same engaging quality of THE FOREST HOUSE and certainly lacks the grandeur of MISTS OF AVALON but is still a wonderful book.

LADY OF AVALON is three stories in one volume. The book opens shortly after the close of THE FOREST HOUSE. Caillean is now the Lady of Avalon in charge of the small surviving band of priestesses. Her story and that of Sianna who succeeds her tell of the establishment of Avalon. The second section is the story of Dierna and Teleri and the sacrifices they make for the Lady. The final section is the story of Ana and Vivanne which lays the groundwork for THE MISTS OF AVALON.

If you are a big fan of MISTS OF AVALON this is a must read but be aware that neither THE FOREST HOUSE nor this book quite live up to MISTS. In any event the stories are engaging on their own and this book could be enjoyed independantly of the others.

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT
IF YOU LIKED THE MISTS OF AVALON THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. EXCELLENT STORY WISH IT WOULD NEVER END.

4-0 out of 5 stars 4 Stars, very good
This is one of those books where I don't know what to think. When I got it I thought it would deal with the Arthurian legends at least in part. Instead I found that the book dealt with basically the same tale being told again and again. This is of course accomplished by means of reincarnation so that in each story the names of the characters change but not their basic role in the plot.

My Impression-I liked the stories on an individual level but when woven together the effect is not as grand as just taking the characters and stories one at a time. This book really peaked my interested and I will look into the others. If you like a good adventure story I suggest you do the same. ... Read more

As young Tammo dreams of joining the Long Patrol--the legendaryarmy of fighting hares that serves the Lady Cregga Rose Eyes, Ruler ofSalamandastron--the brutal reality of a battle with Damug Warfang'smighty battalion of savage Rapscallions fast approaches.

Brian Jacques has proved time and time again his ability to transportreaders into a world of fantasy and adventure that many writers ofadult books would love to emulate. The Long Patrol certainlyproves the point yet again, but distinguishes itself by being perhapsthe very best of all the Redwall books so far. Relying less and less onthe old, familiar Redwall characters and more and more on the ingenuityand passion of younger blood, The Long Patrol will certainly winJacques a fresh following while continuing to delight his existing armyof fans. --Susan Harrison ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One of Jacques best! A great addition to the Redwall Series
In this, the tenth book in the Redwall series, a young hare named Tammello De Fformelo Tussock (Tammo for short) leaves home to find adventure in the famous Long Patrol. During his travels with the squirrel, Russa Nodrey, he joins the famous hares in a desparate mission to save the Abbey of Redwall from a yet another vermin horde threatening the peaceful woodland creatures. However, this time there's a glitch in Jacques usual pattern: The south wall is falling down. Jacques again uses his masterful recipe for excelent and fantastic storytelling to create one of the best in the series yet. With "Pearls of Lutra," Jacques finally created a sequel to his best, Mattimeo. This sequel to "Pearls of Lutra" is well worth reading, more than once. Brian Jacques is easily one of the greatest story tellers, and the greatest English fantasy writer since Tolken.

4-0 out of 5 stars ok good book
This book is about a hare named Tammo. He wanted to be in a group of highly praised hares called the Long Patrol. The long patrol is a bunch of skilled hares that defend a huge mountain called Salamandastron; this is also where they live. A squirrel named Russa Nordry is taking Tammo to be in the Long Patrol. He gets with the Long Patrol and there is only a small group of them. They are going to Redwall abbey to help them from the big army come to the abbey. The abbey is full of peace-loving creatures such as; mice otters, and moles. Before the war the abbey has gone through problems. To find out more and what happens to Redwall, read the book.
Some things I liked about the book were that it had a lot of action and action and suspense throughout the whole book, especially at the last battle at the end of the book. Many events take place during it making it a very suspenseful book. There is many more things I liked about this book, but I can't tell you all of them.
Some bad things about the book are: it's only a type of book for people who like war. It also took a long time to pick up. There was barely any action at first, but when it picked up it got really good.
This is a good book and I recommend it to people who like suspense, war, and action.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Long Patrol Rules
Tammo is a young hare who has ambitions to join the regal ranks of the Long Patrol, a battalion who defends the area from thieves and bandits. One of these bandits is Damug Warfang, leader of the Rapscallions, and almighty enemy of the leader of the Long Patrol, Cregga Rose Eyes. Unknowingly, the combined efforts of these two characters is the only way to defeat the massive force of the evil Rapscallions, but what sacrifices must be made to achieve this goal?

Once again Brian Jacques shows his writing skills with a addititon to his great Redwall series. The Long Patrol is a awesome novel which places animals in the roles of people, but still consumes you in a heart felt and powerful story. With humor, drama, and love, The Long Patrol can set its place as a classic novel in the heart of all its readers. This book will entertain you in all aspects and keep you occupied for hours. If your up for a good book, this is a good one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jolly good!
I love the Redwall series, and I mean that I love every book in it. This one, however, is my favorite. I think that the hares are my favorite group of characaters in Jacques' books and since this book centered around the elite fighting unit known as The Long Patrol, it makes sense that this is my favorite. You can't help but fall in love with Tammo and Russa as they make their way to Redwall and it's famed fare. And Damug Warfang is one of those villains that you just love to hate. Redwall fan or not, this book is totally great!

4-0 out of 5 stars Move over Watership down
This action pack book is the squeel to Mattimeo and Pearls of Lutra and Red Wall. A young rabit runs away from home to join the Long Patrol. They engage in epic battles aganist the evil Raspcallian army. The main villian is not as well protrayed as the others were.

Your favorite charactes such as the Guosim return. No abbey warrior in this one that has a large roll. Martin of Redwall is now dead. Rollo is no longer the recorder.

A good with lots of swash buckling. I you like adventure I suggest you read this and the other 15 books in the series. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of a great series
Though I first read this book nearly 50 years ago, it still remains one of the best books I have ever read. Adults may feel that it is a kid's book, and of course it is perfect for kids, but believe me, it can be enjoyed by people of any age. All you need is love of a good story. For many years Ozma was my heroine--I dreamed that I would meet her somehow, somehow be transported like Dorothy to the Land of Oz. Though these dreams faded, I still often think that this book might be the favorite book of my life. Dorothy's new adventures, the rescue expedition from Oz that crosses the Deadly Desert, and the spooky confrontation between good and evil in the caverns of the Nome King. The Oz characters have accompanied me through life. Try them---you will never forget them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ozma of Oz- Another great book in The Wizard of Oz series!!!
Ozma of Oz is the 3rd book in The Wizard of Oz series and follows The Land of Oz. In this book, you will be reunited with many well-loved characters and be introduced to characters you will soon love.

Dorothy, who was not in the last book, again comes into this story. After being shipwrecked, she and Billina, a yellow hen, arrive on land. They wander around to see where they are and discover a new friend, Tik-Tok, a wind-up, mechanical man. They also find a castle. Inside, lives the family of Ev, who have been captured by the evil Nome king. Only a princess who can change her heads lives inside. Dorothy, Billina, and Tik-Tok decide to rescue the Ev family with the help of Ozma. --I won't mention who Ozma is because you may not have read The Land of Oz. You will find out in a later review.--

I would highly suggest this book, along with The Land of Oz because of the adventures and fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the Oz Bunch
If you've only read the first book and were thinking of trying a second, try the third!

I'm sure no one will be popping into the world of Oz without having read "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," but if one were to do so, this makes a better starting point that the somewhat disappointing second in the series.

This third book is, I think, the best of the Oz stories (which have a tendency to give in to an increasingly episodic nature and abandon storyline completely.)

Dorothy has returned to Oz, and ultimate ends up in the underground Kingdom of the Nome King (a marvelous creation), where her task is to discover whom he has transformed into chachkas, or be transformed herself (honestly, that's the plot!)

It's delightfully full of incident, the villain has real (comic) menace, and call me a heretic, but I prefer the elegant Art Nouveau illustrations of John R. Neill to the Denslow art in the first book.

Note: a 3 star ranking from me is actually pretty good; I reserve 4 stars for tremendously good works, and 5 only for the rare few that are or ought to be classic; unfortunately most books published are 2 or less.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lovely book
Firstly, if you are new to the Oz series, read The Marvelous Land of Oz before reading this book. Marvelous Land of Oz is what directly follows the original, infamous Oz book.
Believe me they just keep getting better.
This is a lovely book to read aloud to children of all ages. I highly reccomend all of the Oz books for their amusing, imaginitve characters(in this book, The Wheelings and Billinia are introduced) , their fantastical situations (trees with lunch boxes full of food, talking chickens, a shipwreak, all in this one), sweet plot and storylines. These books still stand the test of time (written over 100 years ago!)for good reason.
This book really sets the tone for the rest of the books to follow and in my opinion the best. A must read for every family.

5-0 out of 5 stars The return of Dorothy. Gotta love it!
After Baum's success with the first book, he penned the sequel "The Marvelous Land of Oz". It was a decent book, but it was missing one important element. Dorothy. He corrects that oversight in this one, and the book (and the rest of the series) is all the better for it. Dorothy makes her second trip to Oz, this time with her chicken Billina (don't worry, Toto would also return in later volumes) and the action is non-stop. If you planned on reading the series and had a tough time getting through book 2, don't stop. They keep getting better and better as Baum develops into a first-rate author. Read them in order and don't stop until you've finished book 14 (and then even dip into the books by other authors, none are as inspired as Baum's, but some of them are pretty good).

And if you've read all the Oz books and are looking for other titles that are just as magical and just as inspired, try the Chronicles of Narnia, King Fortis the Brave or Abarat. All will introduce you to other magical worlds that are every bit as fun to visit as Oz. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You'll have to read the book!
George and Harold haven't changed much since the last Captain Underpants adventure: they still wish school could be just a little more lively. When their truly evil teacher Ms. Ribble announces she will be retiring and forces the class to write identical sappy cards to mark the occasion, the boys have a better idea: they'll write one of their comic books featuring the heroic Captain Underpants instead, and demonstrate their amazing creativity.

In the comic strip, Ms. Ribble becomes the Wedgie Woman. She wreaks havoc by bestowing extremely painful wedgies on her enemies until she is undone by the valiant but tubby Captain Underpants. Needless to say, Ms. Ribble does not appreciate the boys' creative efforts and they're sent off to the principal's office once more.

But the adventure certainly doesn't end there. It just so happens that in the office, the school secretary has left an unfinished draft the school's schedule on her computer. The opportunity to liven things up by rearranging the schedule proves irresistible and the boys make a few minor changes while they wait to be reprimanded. They also talk Mr. Krupp, the principal, into signing a blank card. The schedule changes and the card come together (as do Mr. Krupp and Ms. Ribble). Before they know what's happened, Mr. Krupp and Ms. Ribble are engaged, despite their objections. The wedding is a disaster and suddenly The Wedgie Woman, who started out as a figment of George and Harold's collective imagination, becomes real. Will Captain Underpants be able to vanquish his foe once again? You'll just have to read the book to find out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny & sloppy epic novel
I love this book. Captain Uunderpants shows that not all authors have to be boring and dignafied. Dav Pilkey has a way of taking toilet paper and turning it into the funniest, most comical thing you ever read. George and Harold are not your average 9-year old, trouble-makin kids. They make their own comic books and have an unusually great variety of crude toilet humor. I love the mispelled words and crummy, unbalanced, and uneven sketches of comics. George and Harold also have a secret, they once hypnotized their principal [Mr. Krupp] and turned him into Captain Underpants. With each comic book that George and Harold make Captain Underpants becomes stronger. If in their Comic book Captain Underpants gets a knee injury by falling dow a flight of stairs, when Mr. Krupp turns into Captain Underpants, he will be limping. This book was a perfect, well blended, humourous Dav Pilkey book.

Book Description

A young hedgehog maid visits Redwall Abbey and sings a half-remembered song recounting the adventures of a warrior called Luke. This chance meeting begins a tale of two quests: that of a son to find his father and that of a father to avenge the murder of his beloved wife.

The son is Martin the Warrior, founder of Redwall, who sets forth from the Abbey seeking the truth about the father he barely knew. His journey takes him home to the northland shore, meeting friends and enemies, old and new, and leading him to an extraordinary shipwreck. The wreck, the Arfship, is home to three ancient, veteran warriors who have in their possession a dusty old volume.Inside is the story of Martin's early life and the dramatic account of his father Luke's pursuit of his hated enemy, the pirate stoat, Vilu Daskar.

Brian Jacques' skillful narrative is told in three parts, interweaving the stories of father and son. Addressing some of the mysteries behind the Abbey's early years, this book provides answers that no Redwall fan will want to miss.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have title for all ages!
I've been a big fan of the Redwall series for about 5-6 years now, and I've loved every installment in the series, and I can say The Legend of Luke is my personal favorite. I've read every Redwall book in the series at least 6 times each, and I can't wait until the next installment, ~Triss~, hits stores. Okay, here is how the book works out :). The book takes place way way way WAY in the past of the Redwall timeline, to the season where the construction of the abbey known as Redwall is near complete. There, Martin the Warrior is told of a strange tale about his father by a travelling hedgehog. The tale sticks to his mind, until he finally decides to head out and discover his father Luke's true fate. He leaves with Gonff, Foremole, and a few other companions, and encounter many friends and foes along the way. Finally, in the lands to the far north where Martin and Luke's clan hailed from, they discovered the remains of a giant red slave ship imbedded between two giant stone pillars. What awaits Martin and friends there???? Read the rest of the book to find out! :D

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the beast Redwall Books Ever Written!
I urge you to buy this book. I have read nearly all of the Redwall series, and this is by far one of the best. The Story starts with Martin, the son of luke, and his friends Dinny the mole and Gonff, prince of mousethieves. He picks up a few more party members, but i'll let you find those out for yourself. After Martins fight with an evil wildcat in the book Mossflower, Martin lost almost all of his memory. So martin ventures out in search of his past and what happened to his Father, Luke the Warrior. Half of the story is Martin and his friends trekking through Mossflower to the northern shore caves. The other half starts right when martins father leaves him in search of an evil searat, that killed his wife. The story is sad and almost made me cry and the end. Various plot twists make this book hard to let go of. So just go buy it already! CAUTION! Buying this book may make you go Redwall Crazy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
I really liked this book. Trimp the Rover hedgehog goes to Redwall Abbey. It's under construction. She helps build by singing a hauling shanty about Martin's father, Luke. Martin becomes depressed, so Gonff, Dinny, and Trimp take him on an adventure.
My favorite part is the song about Saint Ninian's.

4-0 out of 5 stars A swash buclikng good tale
This is the 12 book in the red wal series. It is the prequel and sequel to mossflower. In legend of Luke Martin the Warrior, Gonf and Young Dinny go on a quest to find out what happens to martins fateher luke.

In it we learn that luke Died shortly after kiling the Vile Dark star a vile vermin corsair who murder his wife. For those of you who read Martin the Warrior you know what becomes of Martin after his father leaves him behind.

Log a log is back so is delight ful Fedd and Cogs sweet old Bell of Brochhall is back to. If you like this book I also recomennd Mossflower and Martin the Warrior for the are the only other books that martin is in that is a Major character. Tell redwall encyloped that there source of books that Martin is in accurate. Sir he is dead and nimare character in the other but he should still be on the list.

5-0 out of 5 stars Live the tale or read the story
This Redwall book was different from the rest. A big chunk of the story is a tale being told. Also there is no regular villan to fight. This is one of the better Redwall books because it has less fighting but more action and suspense. I especially liked when they first met Folgrim. He looked weak but he killed two rats in the blink of an eye.
The book started with Martin living at Redwall. He takes a trip to the North shore. He leaves with some close friends. They find a band of weasels that are going to cook a squirrel. Once they free the squirrel, they find out his name is Chugger. His grandmother died one day so he went out on his own. They soon find shrews and an otter name Folgrim. Once at North shore, they take a ship to the tall rocks. There they find part of Luke's crew. One tells the story about Luke.
You must read Martin the warrior first. This was another great book from Brian Jaques and an awesome book from Redwall. ... Read more

Three... two... one... BLAST OFF!! The Magic Tree House whisks Jack and Annie off to the moon- and the feature. Their mission? To find the last "M" thing that will free Morgan from the spell. Can they do it before the air in their oxygen tanks run out? And why is Peanut the mouse acting so strange?

The only way to find out is to read Midnight On The Moon.

5-0 out of 5 stars midnight on the moon
This is great book for you if you like adventure books. It is magic tree houes book it is called "Midnight on the Moon". The characters are Jack and Annie are sister and borther. The author is Mary Osborne. She is a good author. Jack and Annie learn about space like how hot it is in space. I like this book because I like adventure books. If you like astronauts read this book

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Book Ever
I give this book five stars because it is really interesting. It is educational because it tells you facts about the Moon, like: A footprint can last millions of years on the Moon because there is no wind and no rain there. It is also cool because Jack and Annie (the main characters) travel to the Moon and when they are there, they are also in the future (year 2031). I like books about time traveling and especially to the Moon.

4-0 out of 5 stars Magic Treehouse
If you like the moon then you'll like this book. It's about two kids named Jack and Annie who go to the moon and try to find the fourth "m thing" and find a moon buggy and see a moon man.
I liked this book very much it was good. I recomened this to anybody 4 years or older.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderfully written plot
"Midnight On The Moon" is one of the best books. First of all, Peanut is acting strange, and running back and forth on the letter "M". So Jack and Annie leave him in the tree house and go on the moon to find the M thing. When they find a moon buggy, they go exploring, and later find an American flag with a note by it. Jack and Annie make their own note, then are about to go back when they see a moon man. Jack tries to communicate with him by notes, and then the moon man draws a map of stars. When they go back to the tree house, they can't go home for some reason. You'll have to read the rest for yourself.

There's one thing I want to say. What makes this book neat is that they are transported to the future instead of being transported back in time. That can really make the book way more interesting. So if I were you, I wouldn't miss this one, which is my 3rd best. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I did LOVE these books, don't get me wrong...
You guys who wrote really great reviews, don't hate me, and Emily Rodda, don't hate me either. Please don't take me wrong, I think that this Series was extrodinary,I absolutely loved them, all except this one...Okay, you guys, before you get into raging fits on me, just listen.
First of all, since Leif was Jealous of Dain admiring Jasmine, how come nothing ever happens after that with Jasmine and Lief? Sorry you guys who hate Romance in a novel (And I know what you're going to say that this book shouldn't have that because it's for kids.) But I think that a little love in a book makes it fun to read. I was hoping that maybe Leif and Jasmine would end up married, maybe with some kids of their own. Second of All: I was really hoping that Jasmine would be the heir. Why does it always have to be the boy that is the hero? Why not Jas for a change, she is awesome, perfectly capable of dealing with the shadow lord herself, even if she is a little opinionated sometimes. Then She could be Queen, and since she would fall in love with Lief, then he would get to be king anyway! I think that this would have been a better ending.
Third of All: How come everything is so surprising, and everything is changed? I think that it is cool that Doom turns out to be Jas's dad, I even cried when he was remembering her. But Why does Lief have to be the heir, and Doom instead of being Endon, turn out to be Jarred? I thought that He should've stayed Endon, then Jasmine could be the Heir.

And Remember guys, This is my personal opinion, and I'm sure that you think different, so please don't hate my reviews from now on, I'm sure you're all really nice people, and if you like this series, I think that it would be fun to be friends, I have yet to meet someone who loves thee like I do.
Anyway, I only think that This #8 is lacking, I absolutely would give the others 5 stars, all of them. But if your life is the written word, like mine, You could find that This was a bit dissappointing. Though I do envy Emily, she is an amazing writer, and I hope that you don't think that I'm crazy or stupid or I write awful reviews. I loved the other 7, really I do!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The thrilling conclusion to the Deltora Quest series.
All seven gems of the Belt of Deltora have been found. But the Belt cannot defeat the Shadow Lord if the true heir to the throne is not located, and time is running out. The servants of the Shadow Lord are searching for them. Tora, the city they believed hid the heir, is mysteriously abandoned. False clues have been planted to lead them astray, and one of the people they trust may really be a traitor. Lief's parents remain in captivity, and he fears for their lives. But the most shocking revelation of all is about to come. Everything Lief, Barda, and Jasmine have ever believed is about to be challenged. In the final battle between good and evil, between light and darkness, only one side can win. Will they triumph, or will the Shadow Lord rule Deltora forever? This final book in the Deltora Quest series is full of twists, turns, surprises, action, and more, and is everything I hoped it would be.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST BOOKS THAT I HAVE EVER READ!!!!
These are my favorite books. Even though they are a little easy, I really enjoyed them, and i got my friends inot them also. I was a little dissappointed though when Lief and Jasmine didn't fall in love. I thought these books had really surprising twists and turns that were unpredictable. This book was clearly the best out of them all, and I've read it 4 times so far. I loved all of these books, including the shadowlands and am really excited about the Dragons of Deltora.

5-0 out of 5 stars Deltora Quest takes a turn for the awesome
It was when I was in 5th grade when I discovered Deltora Quest. It was actually one of those book order deals, where if you buy 5 books you get 1 book under 7 bucks free, or something like that, so I chose a combo pack of the last three books of the series. Maze of The Beast was good with all the original characters and creatures, but I think I felt a little bit lost. But once I started reading Valley of The Lost, everything started making sense. VoTL was great, but I never expected the final book to be so amazing. The thing I loved about Return To Del was all the unexpected plot twists. The only thing I could possibly complain about is the lack of battles (but hey, I'm battle hungry type of guy.) I was a little sad after the series ended, but luckily a year later the next 3 books came out. I enjoyed reading all 11 even more, after knowing the whole story. Even now, (...) I love these books more than Harry Potter or The Lord of The Rings. Really, I can't recommend this book enough, but make sure you read the other books first. And, unless this is the only book missing from your collection, buy the second hardcover book, which has the last four books in the first series for the price of two. If you shop around, you can even get it for about $5. Again, this is a great book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Return to Del
Dear amazon.com,
I was looking for a book, when my friend, Nivek, found Deltora Quest. My favorite one book of the series is Return to Del. Lief, Barda, and Jasmine have to find the true heir of Deltora so the Shadow Lord will be banished from Deltora. The catch is that they have to find the heir before the Shadow Lord kills the heir. Will Kree, Jasmine's raven companion, give them away? Will the heroes find the heir to save Deltora? Find out by reading the series! The two #1 fans Yrhcaz & Nivek ... Read more

Book Description

The bestselling Redwall series has gained new fans through the beautifully animated series that began airing nationwide on public television in April. . . and now the adventure continues.

The mighty badger warrior Lord Brocktree-with the help of the spirited young haremaid Dotti-must reclaim the mountain land of Salamandastron from the army of a villainous wildcat . . .

"Completely drawn and full of surprises as the complex subplots. [Jacques] is an old-fashioned storyteller. His tale is layered and detailed-and it twists as tightly as the winding corridors and hidden passages of Salamandastron, until readers are completely immersed in his world."
