Really nice book!
This is a really nice book. Lots of glossy color photos of star designers add to the enjoyment of reading this book. It's great for little or big girls interested in fashion. I especially liked the story of the little girl who made up a new kind of mitten. She's been very successful with her efforts. It shows that not everyone has to go to design school to be a success in the field.

This book was excellent. It has all the criteria that is needed to fulfill any book on this specific topic. Fashion designing is one of my most enjoyed hobbies and this book has done it all. From sewing to buying, this book suits anyone. I recommend it to anyone - whether you do or don't like clothes. Fun and Edecational all in one!: or : Where's my crayons?
I picked this one up at a local store (sorry amazon) as a gift to a little girl in the medieval group I belong to, and while flippig through at the checkout line, I relized I needed a copy for myself. I only wish that the documentation refrenced some sorses. Paintings or brass rubbings would be cool.
But still a really neat book.

A Costumer's Delight!
This book is really fun. There are pictures of men and women from various countries and different social and economic backgrounds, and a good amount of detail in each drawing. If you were attempting to reconstruct the costume of a 14th century French baker's wife, for example, you could get many good ideas here! I can't stress enough what a good resource this book would be: the pictures are large and detailed, the captions clearly identify the time,place, and economic status of the persons being depicted. Great Book!
I really enjoyed this book. Its an interesting read about the effect of WWII on world fashion and also a helpful resorce guide to fashion and trends of the era. I must for any vintage clothing collector or swing kid!

An excellent and outstanding source of concise information
I borrowed this book along with the other volumes (1940 to 1970 )from my library. This was exactly what I need for my assignment of different body types and the power of non verbal communication. It was very interesting and would recommend buying. This book was outstanding!

Good for adults too!
I thought this book was well written, even if it is supposedly for kids. It was full of information, pictures, and interesting trivia. As a free-lance writer and researcher of the Twenties, it's a good book to have in one's personal library!

Cool jewelry book for kids
The snappy, fun, and bright beaded jewelry in this book will motivate crafty adolescents to try their hand at making these pieces. The materials are easy to acquire where there are beading supplies, and the instructions are very well illustrated and easy to follow. The techniques are fairly simple, mostly using needle and thread. One of the pieces shows how to finish the ends by using a crimp bead next to the clasps, but all the others are finished by tying the ends in a knot around the clasps, and then sealed with clear nail polish. This repetition of technique keeps the process simple and eliminates the tools generally used in jewelry-making. Some kids might want some help, but once started, they should sail along making these coiled bracelets, strung bracelets and anklets, and earrings. There are also clear illustrations for making a bead loom, and for showing how to weave the beads on the loom to make Indian-look woven bracelets.

A Beautiful Tom Tierney Book
This paper doll book is great for teachers or people who enjoy the study of medieval culture and the history of costume. Tierney's drawings are lavish and nicely detailed, with a variety of costume styles for different classes and eras. Teachers will find these dolls a great visual aid for teaching students about the Middle Ages, and all readers will find the accompanying notes helpful and informative. This is a great series, and these books are well worth the price!

This was the first one of many of Tom's work that I've bought. I'm hooked, he does very pretty and! accurate work. He has given me more inspriation for my costume making than any other source. I just got a copy of this book, and I was totally impressed by it. The pictures in the book are amazing, of the highest quality, and they are taken with an excellent eye.
