Book Description

To celebrate Peter's birthday, Frederick Warne is publishing new editions of all 23 of Potter's original tales, which take the very first printings of Potter's works as their guide. The aim of these editions is to be as close as possible to Beatrix Potter's intentions while benefiting from modern printing and design techniques.

The colors and details of the watercolors in the volumes are reproduced more accurately than ever before, and it has now been possible to disguise damage that has affected the artwork over the years. Most notably, The Tale of Peter Rabbit restores six of Potter's original illustrations. Four were sacrificed in 1903 to make space for illustrated endpapers, and two have never been used before. Of course, Beatrix Potter created many memorable children's characters, including Benjamin Bunny, Tom Kitten, Jemima Puddle-duck and Jeremy Fisher. But whatever the tale, both children and adults alike can be delighted by the artistry in Potter's illustrations, while they also enjoy a very good read. Because they have always been completely true to a child's experience, Potter's 23 books continue to endure.

4-0 out of 5 stars No real moral but a gorgeous little book...
Unlike some of Potter's other books concerning young animals' rash behavior (Peter Rabbit, Tom Kitten) or adult animals' ignorance/trickery (Jemima Puddle Duck, Mr. Tod), this book simply tells the story of Jeremy who is almost eaten by a fish while fishing on a lily pad. No life lesson, but a sweet story and some of her most beautiful illustrations ever. Especially great for budding fishermen/women! ... Read more

Book Description

This cleverly engineered pop-up offers five three-dimensional scenes from A. A. Milne’s most beloved stories. With a turn of the page, readers can watch Pooh and his balloon float up to the top of the honey tree. In other scenes they can visit Owl’s house, help rescue Tigger from a tree, pull Pooh out of Rabbit’s hole, and play Poohsticks from the bridge. Text excerpts from each story are printed on a large tab, which, when pulled out, triggers an exciting action on each spread. This pop-up book, unlike any you’ve seen before, will give children hours of delight and will be treasured by collectors. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Unique Approach to both Winnie the Pooh and Pop-ups.
This is a new approach to a traditional story. Your basic vignettes for Winnie-the-Pooh are there in a scruptuous 3D layout [more than pops up it has some interactive tabs as well]. At its furthest reaches, it lays out width wise to about 4 1/2ft - not a page turning book. Each of the seperate scenes are then brought up and/or down [either all at once or one at a time, your preference]...three are in the trees to the ground so are a good height as well. One includes Tigger being pulled up and down the tree and another has Eyeore floating down the river whilst Christopher Robin and Pooh are playing Pooh Sticks.

Each of the sections has a pull down section of story that can't be pulled out. It is an all around, lay down, 3 people play at once view of a fantasic story. Perfect for pop-up enthusiasts, Pooh lovers, or for a [Grand]parent and [Grand]child to play with. ... Read more

"This is George. George was a good little monkey and always very curious." Upon hearing these words, generations of children have settled in for a cozy interlude of adventures with their favorite trouble-mongering chimp. Fans of the insatiably inquisitive George will be delighted to find that eight new adventures, written and illustrated in the style of George's creators, have been collected in one big blue book. Each story follows the same pattern; the man with the yellow hat trustingly leaves George alone for just a minute--which is long enough for him to get into a peck of trouble. The lovable monkey tempts disaster and saves the day over and over, first in a chocolate factory, then in an animal shelter, a movie theater, a hot air balloon... but can we blame him? Who hasn't wondered how chocolates get their swirls, or what makes a movie appear on the screen?

Featuring the art of Vipah Interactive, the animators of Curious George CD-ROMs, these stories are every bit as hilariously satisfying as those of the Reys. Curious about George's other escapades? Try The Complete Adventures of Curious George. (Ages 4 to 8) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars skip this remake and buy the original
every story in this book has been made with the same storyline. The original fun and creativity is gone.

My opinion - if you want good original George, buy the original, this is rehash which can be great for the very young, but my daughter and I have quickly gotten bored with this

5-0 out of 5 stars Some Of Curious George's Most Exciting Adventures Yet!
I simply cannot understand why people are giving this book a hard time. Yes it is true that the stories & pictures contained in this wonderful collection were not actually written and drawn by the Reys, but who really cares? This book stays true to the Curious George tradition. In fact, if it wasn't stated in the book, you might otherwise never have noticed. The stories are humorous, fun, exciting, suspenseful and always have a happy ending. The adventures George gets into in this series are more applicable to kids today. Although it is fun to see George get sent into space, a child simply can't relate to that. However, I don't think there is one of us who can't empathize with the excitement of going to a movie or the fun or playing with puppies. The bottom line is that you could nitpick the details of it, but if you don't like this fabulous collection, then you don't deserve to call yourself a true Curious George fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love George!
Wonderful fun for kids of all ages.
We used the illustrations for making t-shirts for our running team in a fund raising event. Then gave the book to a young mom. Everybody loves Curious George! This is what they mean when they say "its a classic".

Classic charm to last your lifetime. That's George!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for the little ones
I have to respectfully disagree with the preceding reviews. This book is great! My 3 year can't get enough. The art is outstanding and the stories are fun. One of the simple facts of parenthood is that you will end up reading the same books hundreds of times. They might as well be Curious George books.

3-0 out of 5 stars Formulaic, formulaic
My 21-month old son loves the book, but I'm thoroughly sick of it already even though I've previously enjoyed the Curious George books. These stories are barely different from some previous "George" books I've read - for instance, Curious George and the Puppies is very, very similar in story line to Curious George and the Bunny - which is itself a rehash of a scene in Curious George Flies a Kite. I agree that the illustrations are great, and I realize that little kids like to know what to expect from a George book, but at least the adventures should sound adventurous! ... Read more

Book Description

Through the magic of electronic publishing, all editions of this book (paperback and e-book) were updated December 27, 2004, incorporating all the breaking news stemming from J. K. Rowling's wonderful Christmas announcement. This is an unauthorized work of news reporting and analysis that summarizes everything that is currently known and speculated about "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," book six in the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling.

The author has combed through a vast amount of material (see "from the author", below) and produced a useful reference guide to HP&THBP. Every statement of fact is carefully attributed to a definitive source, and speculation is clearly labeled as such. If you don't like to read speculation, you can simply ignore it!

There are no "magic bullets" or deep secrets here because all Harry Potter fans and websites are working from the same set of public facts. It's just a question of organization, analysis, perspective, and presentation.

Books and e-books give the reader a different experience from surfing the web. Everything is tied up in one package. If it's a paperback, you can hold, throw it, flip through it, dogear it, and mark it. If it's an e-book, you can save it, search it, print it, and bring it everywhere with your PC or PDA. If you prefer Internet searching, by all means, do that!

As the editorial reviews suggest, many knowledgeable fans have enjoyed this book.

This book is loosely grouped into five major parts:

1. Information specifically about book six, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince."

2. Information that pertains both to book six and to book seven in the series.

3. Information specifically related to book seven.

4. Information on books by Rowling beyond book seven.

5. Tips on what to do while you wait!

In this book, The Girl With The Purple Sneakers wants to teach Biscuit how to fetch a ball. But learning is not always easy when the world is filled with fascinating things like bones and cats. But once Biscuit is ready to learn even a big mud puddle won't stand in his way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome!
I loved this book! It was so realistic, and I have nothing bad to say about it. It is about this girl named Mary Anne who gets in a fight with the BSC and has trouble making up with them. Then she meets a new friend Dawn. Then a girl Jenny she was baby sitting for gets so sick that something drastic had to happen envolving Mary Anne and Dawn. If you want to know more, (which is what I'm trying to make you) read this book! I would reccomend this to all girls!

5-0 out of 5 stars A good book
I read this over ten yrs ago and recently re-read it and still enjoy it. Although it is hard to get into initially and the beginning sort of dragged on (my friend Amber loaned it to me when we were in 5th grade and I don't think I got past chapter 1. I had never read BSC books until then so I didn't find the intro. boring, however. I think that the BSC is too judgemental towards each other. They think Mary Anne is immature but she was the one who wanted reconciliation after their dumb fight, and Kristy was the most difficult. Talk about immature! Also it was unprofessional the way they refuse to at least meet for the club and not function. Mary anne was the mature one in that respect.

5-0 out of 5 stars Way to Go Mary Anne!
She proves she's the strongest babysitter in the club in this book and many others. Although she's shy, she has a good head on her shoulders and has a lot of strength. This is a wonderful book that teaches about responsibility, but it's also fun to read. And the arguments that the babysitters have with each other are so funny and lame!

5-0 out of 5 stars The first Babysittes Club book I read
I'm 28 years old, and I recently moved. While cleaning out my house to pack for the move, I ran across a box of Babysitters Club books that I read when I was younger. I had forgotten about those since I hadn't read them in many years. I was 13 when my dad bought Mary Anne Saves the Day for me at the local grocery store. He said I could get a book and that one caught my eye. I read it when I got home, and I was hooked. Since then, I bought books 1-3, and then each book after that every month when it came out. I was 18 when I stopped reading them. I felt I had outgrown them. When I recently found those books, I reread them all, starting with Mary Anne Saves the Day. It brought back a lot of memories, and I am now collecting them all again for my own daughter, if I ever have one.

Mary Anne Saves the Day is about a shy 12 year old girl who lives with her single father, who is very strict when it comes to raising her. She belongs to a great group of friends who run a business called The Babysitters Club. During one of her jobs, a little girl grows ill while in her care, and Mary Anne must use quick thinking to get the child to the hospital.

These are wonderful books for children. It's a shame Ann M. Martin is no longer writing them, but they will be always cherished

4-0 out of 5 stars The Tale Of Jemima Puddle-Duck
This story is about a duck named Jemima Puddle-Duck and she isn't able to hatch her own eggs because the farmers wife wouldn't let her. Where ever Jemima was she would get caught and her eggs were taken away. Then one day Jemima Puddle-Duck went looking for a place to hatch her eggs. She saw a forest down a hill and started to run for it. She flew down and saw a stump that would be nice to site on but a gentleman was sitting on it reading a newspaper. So Jemima started to quack and he looked at her. He thought she was lost and asked her if she was but really Jemima wasn't. She told him she was looking for a place to hatch her eggs, so he took her back to his house where he has a place full of feathers that would be nice. Jemima kept going to his house and one day she decided to stay there until they were hatched. The gentleman told her he was going to cook an omlette for her so he told her to go get some supplies. She did and saw a friend and told him the hole story and one day he went to see her at the gentlemans house. What happened at the end of the book? Read "The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck" to find out.
I liked this book because I liked the surprise ending and the illustrations. K.V

5-0 out of 5 stars Naturalistic polemic in duck's clothing.
I always had Beatrix Potter down as an avatar of Home Counties tweeness, with her anti-modern paeans to the countryside and de liddle cuddly animals. So the unsentimental brutalities of this story came as a welcome shock. 'Jemima Puddle-Duck' is as endearingly hopeless as her name suggests, unable to tend her eggs in the overcrowded barn she shares with some supercilious hens. She flies over the forest in search of a suitably solitary spot, and comes across a helpful gentleman dressed in tweed, reading 'The Sporting Times'. He is a fox, and invites her to make use of his summer residence, in particular the shed carpeted with the feathers of previous victims. Dazzled by his good breeding, Jemima accepts his offer and visits daily. When the eggs are about to hatch, Foxy suggests she bring along various goodies so they can have a charming goodbye party...

The unremitting violence in this story does not emanate from where you'd expect, and this clear-eyed vision of the natural order of things, of brute force vs. cunning, takes place in the most idyllic setting yuou can think of, a richly detailed rural England, its hills and plants alive and painted in the most soothing colours. But even this balmy backdrop plays out a cycle of struggle for domination, with spiders eating flies, and various other creatures being horrid to one another.

Written at the turn of the 20th century, just before female emancipation, it's hard not to see the woebegotten Jemima as an image of women's fate in a world run by men, both good and bad, with the fox as parisitic aristo in straitened circumstances, and the dog as paternalistic liberal. Indeed, the whole thing plays like an Emile Zola potboiler disguised as toddler fodder. Upsetting, cruel and marvellous.

1-0 out of 5 stars Scary for younger children
This book is not appropriate for children who are too young to separate fantasy from fact. It contains images of danger and death and the main character, Jemima, is portrayed as inept and stupid. I realize that millions of kids have enjoyed this book over the years, but my child will have to wait until she's old enough to understand these concepts and not be frightened by them.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck
The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck was the first Beatrix Potter book I read when I was young. It is the tale of a barnyard duck named Jemima who wishes to hatch her own eggs instead of leaving the task to the hens. She decides to leave and find a place to nest and encounters a polite gentleman with sandy whiskers who so kindly offers his help. It is a charming tale, as so many of Ms. Potter's stories are, complete with an endearing if not somewhat naive duck, a handsome yet sly fox and a wise old collie dog. The illustrations are quite nice, with some beautiful countryside scenes of Sawrey where the author lived. This story is a pleasure to read. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars ok
I'm not a big fan of these books, but my daughter really enjoyed this book, if not for the story, for the lift the flaps and my improvisation of the story. I don't think this will ever be a classic, nor a story that has any content. But it definitely has that 'Blue' appeal that infants and toddlers love.

4-0 out of 5 stars Definitely a Toddler Book, Not a Baby Book
The artwork in this book is excellent! Just as good as the TV show. My 13-month-old son loves to look at the pictures in this book, and open the flaps, but tends to lose patience with the words. I think he might enjoy it more in 5 or 6 months, when he can identify shapes better.

4-0 out of 5 stars 4 ½ Georgie Dans Le Forest
When the now iconic Man in the Big Yellow Hat warns Curious George,"now don't wander off and get into trouble," we know exactly what's about to happen instead (especially since he had already rushed off). Despite his good intentions, George adventures turn into misadventures: Dousing someone's campfire, getting lost with a galloping deer, and being sprayed by a skunk that George thought was a cat. As usual in these series (story by Margret Rey, with illustrations by a team in the style of the late H.A. Rey), George's curiosity also leads to some monkey heroics. He also learns how to get rid of skunk smell (a vat of tomato juice).

Given its forest setting, this is a somewhat quieter 'George book,' but there are soft forest and animal drawings and enough action for the small ones. Curious George is now "a registered trademark of the Houghton Mifflin," but the company encourages young readers to look for the 'original adventures about Curious George' by the Reys. 24 pages, with pencil and watercolor illustrations on each one.

4-0 out of 5 stars A funny look at sibling rivalry
Arthur gets the chickenpox just before the circus comes to town. So he gets all the attention and care ~~ leaving his sister, D.W. out in the cold with jealousy. She fakes getting chickenpox and learns a lesson the hard way.

It's a cute look at sibling rivalry and envy. The story is readable and fun.

Once again the illustrations are fun to look at ~~ bright and colorful and cheerful. My boys can't read yet but they really enjoy the illustrations and I enjoy reading the stories.

4-0 out of 5 stars Primarily focusing on enviousy
Well, now that a hopefully working vaccine for chicken pox has been developed, this story is still great for teaching one about being careful what he or she wishes for.
The circus is in town-everybody's excited to go, but when Arthur is sick with chicken pox, D.W. comes home from play group to find Arthur lying on the couch so wishes she was sick so pretends to think Arthur is just pretending to be sick. And as the story continues, D.W. shows how she wishes she was the sick one-and in the end, Arthur is better, but D.W. gets the chicken pox.
This will be a great book to teach about being careful what you wish for even when chicken pox no longer exists.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great--but Beware!
My kids thought this book was very funny. I did too, but not solely for the reasons they did. Chicken pox that only lasts a week? Come on! But the main problem this created in my home was that when my kids came down with chicken pox, they pulled this book out. Uh-oh! They wanted crazy straws, and a back rub, and every other special treatment that Arthur received. But it was reassuring for them to see that chicken pox is very common, and even Arthur survived. At least I got them to try the oatmeal bath!

5-0 out of 5 stars Arthur's Chicken Pox
I found this book to be very humorous and fun to read. I loved watching Arthur receiving special treatment for being sick and D.W. pretending that she also had chicken pox. This book is also great because many young children can identify with Arthur and D.W. . As a future teacher, this book is a must for any book collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best Arthur books
My 4-year old son loves to go to the library because he can't wait to see which Arthur books will be available. We've read almost all of them, and this is our favorite. (Arthur's Halloween is a close second.) I'm buying buying a copy from Amazon.com as a gift to his nursery school class. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Arthur's Eyes
This book was about a boy named Arthur who has to get glasses. The next day at school his classmates and friends for wearing glasses tease him. He starts telling his teacher that he forgot his glasses at home. The lesson this book teaches that it's okay to be different and not to care about what others think of you. The age level of this book is about from ages 5-8. I thought this book was good because all children need to learn that it's okay to be different.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good book for young children
Arthur's Eyes is a tale about a Arthur getting his first pair of glasses, and
learning to be proud to wear them. Arthur is teased by his fellow
classmates and is embarrassed of having to wear glasses. He soon
learns that wearing glasses improves his school performance, and
eventually leads to his acceptance by his classmates. Arthur's Eyes
captured our attention with the colorful artwork, although at times the drawings were of low quality. The cover picture of Arthur is not the same picture portrayed in the actual book, and this maybe disappointing for children who are used to the PBS television show. However, the message the pictures convey are appropiate for the intended age group. The story is short enough for a young child to read in one sitting, which would be good for a bedtime story. Young children who read this book will learn to be proud of their personal image if they get eyeglasses. They will also learn to accept other children who wear glasses. We would recommend this book for classroom reading and as leisure reading.

3-0 out of 5 stars Arthur's Eyes
Overall we thought that this book was a good book for children. It was aimed for children at about the kindergarten to first grade level. A good aspect of this book is it is directed at boys and girls, something that would work well in a classroom. The moral of Arthur's Eyes is good for children because it will help them get over a fear of needing glasses at a young age. This is shown through ways that children can relate to such as doing well on a quiz, being able to see in class, and making baskets in a basketball game. This book also included humor that young children could relate to such as the incident when Arthur walked into the girl's bathroom and Francine was in there. This is something that children at this age would find hilarious.
The only thing in this book that we found to be unappealing to anyone is that Arthur looks nothing like he does in the well-known cartoon. Besides none of the characters looking like they should, all of the illustrations were terrible. Without knowing that this is supposed to be an Arthur story, children wouldn't recognize the characters by looking at the pictures and this could confuse a young mind.

1-0 out of 5 stars Misleading graphics
If you look at the cover, it shows the current Arthur. INSIDE the book is the, I am guessing, first generation arthur that really looks like an aardvark. The crude pictures inside are confusing to the child. Avoid this arthur book and move on the the next one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
This book has absolutely horrible artwork in it. I bought my copy through the school system, and on the cover, they had a picture of Arthur like he looks on the TV show. However, inside the book, Arthur and his family look like rats, not like teddy bears. My kid couldn't even recognize the characters. He kept saying that this wasn't Arthur. I hope all the Arthur books aren't this shoddy, but I hestitate to buy another without flipping through it at a store. It literally looks like a child drew the pictures. ... Read more

Book Description

When George and the man with the yellow hat stop to shop at a chocolate factory store, George becomes curious about how chocolates are made. Though he begins to follow the factory tour, George is soon off on his own to investigate. The adventures of Curious George continue in an all-new series beginning in fall 1998 with eight new stories. Written and illustrated in the style of Margret and H. A. 4-0 out of 5 stars Curious George--the way we remember him
In their version of the iconic character, Vipah Interactive draws upon our collective memories--not the reality--of Curious George. Gone are the thirties' cartoon mannerisms, the gritty ash can school shading, and the suggestion that monkees like living in a zoo. In their place are clean, bright illustrations and skillfully obscured automobiles and clothing styles that push George's world into chronological ambiguity. Curious George Goes to a Chocolate Factory evokes the memory of old Lucy shows as seen through the gaze of nostalgia. But the storyline is contemporary suggesting that like choosing Control-Z, we can readily undo the results of our past actions.

4-0 out of 5 stars George Has a Chocolate Jones!
Illustrated and written in the style of original authors, Margaret and H.A. Rey, this 1998 release finds George and the infamous man in the yellow hat visiting a chocolate factory. When the yellow-hatted man tells George "wait here while I buy these, and please stay out of trouble," you KNOW that George will do exactly the opposite. After all, George is CURIOUS, and his inquiring personality and sweet tooth lead him deeper and deeper into the inner workings of the factory, where he gets into more trouble. His quick hands and mouth save the factory from his own curiosity-inspired havoc, and George goes home happy and full.

While not as clever as some of the earlier books in the series, the chocolate factory setting is inspired. Page 10, for example, depicts seven different mouth-watering chocolates. Little ones will understand George's interest in the making of chocolates, and his accidental, temporary wrecking of the assembly line. Again, I don't think it's quite up to the high standards of some of the other "Curious George" books. Twenty-two pages, with understated watercolor and pencil illustrations on each page.

3-0 out of 5 stars Stories need a little help but pictures tip top
I must say I was astonished to see how remarkably well Vipah was able to reproduce the artwork of the late H. A. Rey. Too bad they couldn't quite come up to par with the stories all the time. Case in point, My three year old was confused as to why the chocolates started going faster, since the text doesn't point out that george steps on a lever to make it go faster, you have to see it in the picture. Three year olds don't know anything about levers marked EXTRA FAST.

One great thing about these new series of books is they are mercifully short. The classic george books check in at 48-64 pages which gets really tiresome after 30 or 40 readings!!

I personally think the pancakes book is better. But Chris loves George so it doesn't matter much what I think. :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars A delightful book!
My three-year-old absolutely loves this book. The story is very cute and the illustrations are wonderful! My son likes to pretend he's eating the chocolates off the page that shows which swirls indicate which fillings. And the drawings of the factory itself, where the machines look like friendly robots complete with smiling faces, are priceless! A very enjoyable book that will be read again and again!

5-0 out of 5 stars We love this book: monkeys and candy are our favorites!
We enjoyed seeing George get into trouble and then, as always, end up saving the day. We learned how to tell what's inside a piece of chocolate by looking at the swirls on top. We tested that fact ourselves and it works! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Lackluster
Anyone looking at this won't find anything new, Potterhead or not. I was severely unimpressed by the trailer for this upcoming movie, but the poster book is even less interesting.

Several of the posters consist of headshots of the characters, underlaid by rather flat photos of secondary characters, minor characters, or secondary sets. As virtually everyone now knows what the Harry, Ron, and Hermione actors look like, I was hoping to see clear pix of people like Malfoy and McGonagall. Nope--we're given several headshots of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Other elements were previously glimpsed in the trailer, such as the goblin; others were badly defined, such as the Forbidden Forest. The brooms in Quidditch training look like they'e about to snap in half. And, connected to my complaint about the trailer, no Voldemort.

Not all were bad, as we get a better look at Hagrid and Dumbledore (who looks like Gandalf on Halloween). We are also given a glimpse of Ron's rat; additionally, we are given a glimpse of Harry and Ron laughing and joking together. I know now that the kid playing Harry Potter looks much more endearing when he smiles, rather than the ultra-solemn look.

Buy this book only if you're a die-hard Potterhead, otherwise you'll be utterly uninterested.

4-0 out of 5 stars A practical way of covering your walls with Harry Potter pix
The "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Movie Poster Book" is pretty much ideal in terms of contents and price for the kids who wants to plaster Harry, Ron and Hermione on their bedroom wall. Just be sure to show your kid how to take out the staples instead of standing by and watching them rip the book apart. Some kids will want a big poster on the wall, but most are going to be happier having these much better shots of the main trio of Hogsworth students. Think of it this way: You get 15 good sized posters for what it would cost you for one 8x10 glossy of your favorite character. Admittedly this was geared towards being a promotional item and not giving away too much of the film, but there does not seem to be a second poster book now that the film is in theaters and the first several hundred millions are in the bank. From the smile on Maggie's face she did not seem bothered by this book's shortcomings (I am informed she will be marrying Ron) and that is all that really matters.

5-0 out of 5 stars For those eager fans who can't wait for the film.
The second Harry Potter poster book brings you huge, glossy photos from the "Chamber of Secrets" film. There are posters of your favorite Harry Potter characters (castmembers dressed up in costume) and great film scenes. You can cut them out of the poster book if you'd like and hang them up but they are just as fun to look at by flipping through the book. The photos are not the same ones that you keep on seeing on every single Harry Potter site--a lot of them are rare ones that can only be found in this poster book. If you're a huge Harry Potter fan and can't wait for the "Chamber of Secrets" film to open, then this poster book is a must.

I highly recommend the "Chamber of Secrets" poster book.

Score:
100/100

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Posters!
The "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" Movie Poster Book is an excellent addition to any Harry Potter fan's collection. The posters are high quality; slighltly glossy, nicely sized, and has a clean and crisp finish to the photos. Many of the posters are collages, which I really liked because they are done in such a nice way. My entire household (that would be three younger sisters and two parents) all love Harry Potter, so of course we all ran out to get our own copies! I suggest saving this booklet (or buying two, the price is great), because it will defintely become more valuable as the years go on since Harry Potter is destined to be popular years from now!

3-0 out of 5 stars It's cute
I've started reading Arthur's books to my sons and they love the colorful pictures in the book. The storyline is cute ~~ nothing spectular or exciting. Arthur invites everyone to his birthday party only to find out one of his friends, Muffy, has her birthday party the same day. Arthur decided to surprise Muffy by hosting the party at his house and all ends well.

It's a cute story though I am not quite sure about "Spin the Bottle" gift at the end. That may be a little too old for 8 year olds. But it's not offensive or anything ~~ it's just a cute story about birthday parties.

4-0 out of 5 stars Suprise Birthday
I really like the book Arthur's Birthday because I liked when Arthur figured out what to do when Muffy and his birthday are on the same day. He was kind and knew what he was doing.

5-0 out of 5 stars A nice, soft toy and colorful book.
This is the same story as on the TV series, wherein Arthur's birthday is on the same day as Muffy's and both want to have their parties at the same time. The fact that it's the same as on the TV show can work to your advantage in that kids know the story, whether you read it aloud or they read it to you. It gives them confidence in knowing some of what's going to happen. The colorful illustrations are fun to follow along with. The Arthur doll is soft and huggable with "glasses" that are sewn onto the washable body. The doll makes a nice prop if you're reading out loud to a small group.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great For a Birthday Reading Lesson
I am a student teacher and think this book can be used as part of a K-2nd grade reading lesson. Children can relate to the topic and make predictions throughout the story. The colorful illustrations will keep children attentive. Arthur is having a birthday party and a conflict arises between him and Muffy. Arthur comes up with a great solution to the problem. The only part of the story that I thought was inappropriate for children was the gift that Francine bought for Arthur and wanted to play with right away at the end.

1-0 out of 5 stars Inappropriate content for age
My daugther loves Arthur and Birthdays, so I bought the book. We were reading along and came to the end where Francine gives Arthurs his gift and asks that he "use it right away". On the last page you see the opened gift -- a bottle with "Francine's Spin the Bottle Game" written on it. I thought this completely inappropriate for the age of reader. So,unless you're not bothered by the sexual reference in your child's reading materials, buy it. ... Read more
