5-0 out of 5 stars The third book in the thrilling P.C. Hawke Mysteries series.
P.C. and Mac are thrilled when Mac's dad invites them to join him on a business trip in Monaco, where he will be a speaker at the International Psychiatric Association Conference. They spend the beginning of their trip having fun: seeing the sites, relaxing on the beach, and eating at cafes. Even though Mac's father warns them not to get involved, P.C. and Mac can't help themselves. Along with Juliette, the inspector's daughter, they determine to find out who really is responsible. 5-0 out of 5 stars The *Best* Book!
This is definitely the best book in the Todaysgirls.com series, and I have read 10 of the 12 that are out as of now. (August 2001) I also recommend that you start with book #1, because this is the first book I read in the series, and I was pretty clueless to who everyone is! Anyway, I loved this book! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! I *love* Alex because I am just like her. I even look like her! She is one of my fave girls. I also like Jamie, because I am shy like she is. Anyway, I *highly* recommend this book. And if you're a *big* fan of Todaysgirls.com, you've gotta be crazy not to read this one! You're missing out on a fantastic read!

4-0 out of 5 stars Todays Girls- Tangled Web
This is an excellent book. I gave it four stars being that it wasen't my favorite book in the series. This is a great series for young girls, but I think teenagers and older pre-teens can relate the best to these books. I highly recommend starting with book #1 (Stranger Online) as for you can get a better feel of the girls personalities and it would be much easier to follow. I won't give away the story line as for I JUST HATE IT when I find out what happens before I read the book. :) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is about an assignment that uncovers the truth.
Joan Lowery Nixon's novel, Search for the Shadowman, is a book that I liked and recommend for others to read. The novel is well wrighten, is easy to understand and, keeps the readers intrest and has a well devoloped main character. The main character, Andy Thomas, recives a class assignment to explor his family's history. He isn't to thrilled about unearthing his deceased realitives backrounds. Using the easist reasource possible, his computer, Andy logs on as "Hunter" and begins his search. Soon his queary sent on the internet changes to a pursuit to know more about his infamous realative, Coley Joe Bonner. Andy's quest for the truth about Coley Joe acquants Andy with DrPR. The sharing of an old newspaper article by DrPR. invesulls Andy's discovery of the buried truth about Coley Joe. Andy's school assignment results in his discovering amazing information about the dead as well as the living.

5-0 out of 5 stars Search for the Shadowman,is a faboulous book!
In Search for te Shadowman by Joan Lowery Nixon the main character Andy Thompson gets an assignment from his history teacher and begins a search for a fellow in his family tree known as Coley Joe. A mystery surrounds Coley Joe's being crossed off the family tree by a betrayal of trust. Only trouble is Andy doesn't know think Coley Joe is guilty and sets out to prove his innocence, with some tough research.

I liked this story 's use of the computer,E-mail,library research and detective footwork to help Andy solve the mystery about Coley Joe. More than the research I enjoyed learing about Andy as a person by the way he handled his assignment. Andy showed his and faithfulness to his research, his family and his friend by achieving his goal of clearing Coley Joe's name, making his family proud of their ancestor and still honoring his friendship with J.J.

Even when Andy's research could have given him fame and fortune, it would have also hurt his bestfriend and his family. Andy chose the only honorable way to end the long lost search for the shadowman.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun way to learn to do research
An excellent mystery for 10 to 12 year olds. It shows how to research via the Internet as well as libraries. In addition it is a great introduction to genealogy.

4-0 out of 5 stars This book rocks
This book is filled with suspence. Andy's search filled me with many questions. Joan Lowery Nixion ties the book up with an extrodanary ending. This book mixes a little history into a mystery. I would recemend this book to anyone who loves reading mysteries. GREAT BOOK

4-0 out of 5 stars Recommended!
Our children's librarian recommended this book for my 9 year old. I read it yesterday. (He hasn't read it yet.) I really liked the book. It made me really want to know the truth about Coley Joe. It's a good way to learn about history and geneology within a modern setting. It also addresses topics such as how we treat others, family loyalty, etc. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT!
This book was, once again, a great Net Force book. Maj, a net force explorer, gets a visitor from a different country, whose dad works for the government. to keep his invention of a microp that destroys harmful micro-organisms out of the wrong hands, he sends it to america with his son. Now, the people who are trying to capture his dad, reverse the programming of the microps through the net. now maj and the other net force explorers are in a race against time to save their friend from the harmful microps. this book is a lot of fun and i highly reccomend it!

4-0 out of 5 stars The future of the Net we know?
These Net Force books are all short, easy to read, and interesting. Like the others that I have read, this one fulfills the promise of the creaters. In this book, Maj's life becomes even more interesting than usual when a younger visitor comes to her home - as an escapee. Her interaction and work with other Net Force Explorers adds character and excitement to the book. Creative design on the Net and action-adventure combine to make this one more in a good series to get and read, for both parents and children. If this is how and what the 'Net' will become, I am all for it. I especially like the values transmitted by the authors in these books. I only wish that I had, again, a younger child to share these with now. I plan on keeping them for my future grandchildren. Maybe by then these books will read like 'history'. Keep it up, authors. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!
This is one of the best books in the series! ... Tristan and Genia and Mora are trying to track down Devon, but are having some problems. Jame, the 3rd twin is in the thick of the revolution on Mars. Shimoda is getting closer to stopping Quietus once and for all. But Devon takes over the moon and now is holding the world hostage. Tristan, Genia, and Mora are running out of time. In the final book Earth's fate is in the balance. If you liked the first 4 books. You'll like this one!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Meltdown is coming.
What is probably the most disappointing book in the 2099 series is still a book that readers will find difficult to put down, particularly because the plot races along with each passing chapter and the ultimate showdown grows closer... In 2099 #5: MELTDOWN the trouble for Tristan grows. He and Genia are trapped in a world so utterly close to its own destruction, a world in which meltdown is causing it to come to a shattering end. Is there anything they can do to stop the ultimate

destruction of Earth -- and its future?

5-0 out of 5 stars Totally Awesome

5-0 out of 5 stars YOU CAN'T PUT IT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This book is the best that I've ever read! Tristan, a naive person who is chained to his conscience and Genia, a streetpunk thief from the underworld are forced to work with a gang of crooks and Tristan's ex-girlfriend, Mora, who has become hard-hearted after living in the underworld. I could not put it down. I wasn't intrested in anything else but the book. Unlike Paul Jennings,Morris Gleitzman, and John Marsden where their six part stories seemed to repeat itself throughout the series, John Peel is original. Well worth your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars They can only survive the revolution....
No one can stop the ongoing revolution. Tristan and Genia, after a heart-stopping escape from Ice, must get onto business and save Earth from Tristan's devious clone Devon. Unfortunately, Tristan meets his betrayer. He discovers shocking things about why he was betrayed. But that doesn't make the fight for Earth any less serious. The world is one the brink of total destruction, and only Tristan , who is trying to gain the trust of Inspector Shimoda, can stop that.

5-0 out of 5 stars No time for disappointment!
This book was excellent! Genia finds herself warming up to Tristan. It's also revealed in this book that there are three clones in the universe that have been freed from their lab, where other clones remain, still in their jars-- there's Jame Wilson, a young, 14-year-old that lives in Space, there's Tristan Connor, and Devon. Devon has a sick potential to take over the world, and Quietus with that. This book concentrates on Tristan's escape from Ice, and betrayal from Genia's own father. This book/series is related to Marilyn Kaye's "replica." There's also 12 clones, except the character's genders are different. This book isn't a disappointment--read it!

5-0 out of 5 stars The 2099 series is AWESOME!
John Peel's furtive writing skills allow him to succeed in writing children's science fiction like no author. "Revolution" is a follow-up to his 3rd book, "Traitor," focused mainly on Genia and Tristan. "Revolution" reveals some of the secrets about Quietus, the hacker's mafia of the future, as well as the cloning of Tristan and Devon. This is a great book and I can't wait to collect the rest of the series! (BTW, I'm 13 years old, and that seems like a perfect age to be able to understand all of the book)

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding
This book had so much adventure in it that I could not put it down. I in courage everyone to buy it. I have all the 2099 seires and they just get better and better as they progress. 1-0 out of 5 stars Very poor work
I am very confused with this Clancy attempt at what it would seem as teen literature. A very dull story, almost obvious. Too boring for adults, yet confusing and truculent for kids.

2-0 out of 5 stars Cold Case
I choose this book because I like Tom Clancy novels. Although I like Tom Clancy novels I think this one could have had more action in it instead of trying to solve an easy mystery. Perhaps if this book were more of an adult book than it would have been much more interesting.
The book is mainly about a team of Net Force Explorers who find themselves in a homicide case. The only thing they have as a lead is a paper with addresses and numbers that were scratched out.
IF you would like to read this book go ahead but I don't recommend it.

1-0 out of 5 stars This book is only good for starting fires.
Ok I love Tom Clancy's books, but this one (disappoints). If you are going to read the Tom Clancy Net Force series, only read the adult level books. These younge adult books (stink) and are an embarrassment to Tom Clancy's name. The only good books are #1-6, dont waste your time reading anything after that.

4-0 out of 5 stars net force
net force is about net force explorers who solve crime

4-0 out of 5 stars Another entertaining net force book.
Join the Net Force Explorers on their latest adventure as they try to solve a 40 year old murder.

This is another great Net Force book. The Net Force series is aimed at the younger reader, but even so it was a very entertaining book to read.

Buy this book today, you won't be disappointed. ... Read more

Book Description

It’s the most advanced computer role-playing game ever: When you play you’re really there—in a dark dream teeming with evil creatures, danger-filled fortresses, and malevolent sorceries.
The game plugs directly into your brain--no keyboard, no modem, no monitor. And for game hacker Arvin Rizalli and his friends, no cash up front, no questions asked . . . and no hope of rescue when the game goes horribly, deathly wrong.

3-0 out of 5 stars Blah!
okay, it's possible I missed something, seeing as I don't play RPG's, but I thought this book had some serious flaws in it! The characters were shallow and unpleasent (always bickering amongst themselves),shallow, unpleasent, and did I mention shallow? I have no sympathy whatsoever for any of them. As soon as I finished reading it, I stuck the book back on my shelf and it will probably stay there and gather dust for years.

5-0 out of 5 stars RPG/Fantasy Masterpiece
As I usually find Velde's stories captivating, not only did I find this one just as good as the last ones, but I also found it very realistic to the world of RPGs. Being a thirteen-year-old girl, you would not think that I'd enjoy many video games; quite the opposite. I found this story was staying true to its roots, having a variety of monster's, characters and weapons. The only thing I didn't get was the age limit on this; ages 9-12. Not only does it have some explicit moments of violence, it also uses words I probably wouldn't have known back then. Overall, good use of monsters, and fighting scenes. Only lacking an ending that doesn't leave anything to the imagination--but then, how many books do?

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ
now this book is very good.it's descriptive.it's itresting.and it's a game. a tenth grader named arvin and his friends are unaware when the get sucked into a virtual reality game.now in this game they all are a generated charecter and are really that person the whole game with that persons memory and fellings.in there case a princess needs to be rescued.now your thinking how original.we'll if you said that read the book.they have tough challenges ahead like arvins mom has a headache the whole time.what's wrong? also they are stuck with computer players. that is until they start to loop.
pros:
descriptive
orginal
page turner

cons:
too short
no sequal[s] as of yet
can't find a book to match it

4-0 out of 5 stars Good RPG Book
I think this is a very good Role Playing book. Personally, I like to RP, and I think the idea of practically living in the RP world would be really fun.

User Unfriendly has very descriptive setting; it makes you feel like you're almost living there. One thing I don't understand is why all of Arvin's friends seem to despise him so much. I didn't find his comments, (maybe his thoughts), annoying so I don't understand why they act so bitterly toward him.

5-0 out of 5 stars User Unfriendly...Friendly?
There is only one word for how good this book was...amazing. Possibly because I am a huge role-playing game (RPG) fan and this book illustrated the life inside of an RPG. The story was portrayed magnificently and the details sounded realistic in comparison to common RPGs in the world today, although much more interesting since it was like being inside of the game instead of just playing it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A hilarious book that's a ton of fun to read!
Jessica loves computer games. Especially violent ones. For a while now, she's been trying to beat Gopher, a game where the player has to defeat mutant gophers with an arsenal of various deadly weapons. She's so sick of Gopher that when her friend Matt offers to meet her on a cool new game site, Go4, she readily agrees. But Jess and Matt are in for the shock of their lives. Because when they play Go4, they find themselves transported to a virtual reality world. In this wacky world, anything goes, including using a credit card without paying and riding on a centaur with the attitude of a surfer dude. But it's not just all fun and games. Because an evil villain wants to take over the world, and only Jess and Matt can stop him. I highly reccomend this book to anyone who's looking for a good laugh. ... Read more
