A bit difficult
I've read many yo yo books and they all taught me the same tricks. Here's a book which at long last has some new tricks. Some of the tricks are pretty hard, this book is definitely not for beginners. If you have read a couple other trick books and are ready to move on, you should read this book.

For the tricks in this book, I recommend a Yomega Fireball yo-yo. They sleep really well. If you are a beginner, you should read Awesome Yo-Yo tricks. ... Read more

Inspiring
Marty Kaminsky paints a vivid picture of individuals who are true champions. These are the most inspirational stories I have read. The message, never let yourself be limited, is one everyone should believe in. The book is very well written - but then again, we've come to expect that from Mr. Kaminsky. I recommend this for all young sports fans.

Giving hope
Uncommon Champions is an engaging book that involves the reader in the lives of these champions who have struggled through adversity. These people exemplify success as shown not just through medals, but also in the satisfaction and pride in their lives. Each one succeeds not just for their own sense of achievement, but also in order to be able to give to others both inspiration and help in their personal quests. As a teacher I see this book as a wonderful tool to help students who are struggling with their own particular adversities to hold on to hope that they too will one day become uncommon champions.

Inspirational
This book is inspirational for young and old, athlete and non-athlete. Each chapter is a lesson in dedication and determination that is truely uncommon in today's world of multimillion dollar salaries and end zone celebrations. The real victories are found in the athletes themselves.

An inspiring book for exceptional children and their parents
As a parent of a child who has endured extreme physical difficulties, it was wonderful to read these inspiring stories. They are written in a prose that is accessible to all readers, and convey the underlying spirit of people who have also overcome life's extreme challenges. Kids with disabilities, and those without them, will be exhilarated and moved when reading about the lives and experiences of these athletes. Postive models for young adults
Uncommon Champions tells the stories of star athletes who have successfully grappled with eating disorders, drug addiction, cancer, racism, learning disabilities and more. I think it's important for young people to read about role models who have suffered and come out the other side, especially ones who seem as golden and invincible as top athletes. This book provides hope and inspiration. It was O.K.
I found this book at my local public library. Since I'm a cheerleader, I thought it would be a valuable resource, and it sort of was. It was a little too short, and I knew most of the moves and stunts in here anyway. It did have color photos and stuff, but it was only about fifty-eight pages. I wish it was longer. I guess it's mostly for beginners or people who want to learn about cheerleading or are thinking of trying out, because there is a section about it in here. I would recommend this book to beginning cheerleaders or for people who want to find out more about this cheerleading.

Good for elementary school cheerleaders.
This book was pretty good. I guess I was expecting too much of it, but I thought that it wasn't very helpful. There was lots of information, but only on a few topics of cheerleading. I really liked the section of pictures of famous people who used to be cheerleaders. I just thought the book would be well-suited for elementary school kids, not people really serious about trying out for a good high school or all-star squad. I think the book should also have included more challenging and /or advanced techniques of cheerleading and gymnastics.

For Beginning Cheerleaders
This is a good book for cheerleaders that are new or girls that want to try out. Most of the moves and stunts in it were pretty simple, so beginners could get more out of it. I am almost in middle school and I want to try out for cheerleading, and this book is a great source, especially when me, my sister,and my next-door-neighbor make up cool cheerleading routines together. I just wish it had more jumps, stunts, and a instructional section about gymnastics, 'cause I'm a intermediate gymnast. Don't bother reading it if you're an advanced cheerleader, but it's a great book for beginners.

Ooh! What a waste!
I checked this book out at the library. It's okay if you're six to eleven years old, but it won't do any good for anyone older than that.

Don't buy it if you're a pro!
Believe me when I say this: This is a book for the beginners all the way. I bought this book thinking I could learn something that wasn't obvious, but if you cheerlead already, there is nothing new that you can learn from this book. It should be called Ultimate Beginning Cheerleaders. BUT if you're a real beginner and you need some sort of practice with boring basics, then buy it. ... Read more
