5-0 out of 5 stars An Updated review
Oops-I got the coloring books mixed up; my earlier review relates more to HP and the Sorcerer's Stone coloring adventures (Friendship) with glitter glue. this one with Hagrid is much better. Nice detail in Hagrid's hut and at Gringott's bank. Also the Dursley's appear in it!! This one is a must buy.

3-0 out of 5 stars disappointing "art"
Coloring books are for kids who like to color. From simple to complex, the excitement is always in the details. Unfortunately this coloring book is boring--the pictures usually have no background and oftentime just have pictures of faces and heads or the characters in their school robes (which by description in the book are black--not all that interesting for coloring). If it weren't Harry Potter, it would be a total bust. But since it is, of course there is some interest and reason to purchase. And the tattoos are fair to good. ... Read more

Book Description

A Supernatural Battle Is Now Raging for the Minds and Destinies of Our Children. This Is a Battle That Parents Can and Must Win.

Violence, psychic manipulation, witchcraft, murder, demons, wizards, magic, Satanism, and the occult are but a few of the featured attractions in the world of the ever-popular Pokemon phenomena and the celebrated Harry Potter series.

This eye-opening book is a stunning expose that penetrates the clever satanic camouflage which attempts to conceal the true diabolic nature of today's most popular children's literature and games.

Backed by the authority of the Word of God and his almost three decades in the ministry, Phil Arms provides an electrifying analysis of the most commerically successful children's entertainment of the last century. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Oh man, this is pathetic.
Okay, I'd like to say that I'm a Christian and I have never liked Pokemon, but after reading this book it makes me seriously think of changing both. An interesting fact is, neither Harry Potter nor Pokemon are American (although they are both very popular in America), and he states that they are bad for the Youth of AMERICA, and not any other place in the world. I am apalled by the statements made by the reviewers who agreed with this guy, and find this book a work of stupidity and jealosy (maybe he tried to write some books and none were created or did not become very popular?) I have not read this book but plan to look for it, out of complete curiosity.

1-0 out of 5 stars does Christianity a disservice
This sort of thinking makes Christianity look plain silly. It presents an image of Christians as close-minded simpletons, easily lead by fear. And make no mistake, Arms is out to spread fear - it's remarkably easy to control people who are afraid.

As a Christian I am insulted that the very serious subject of good vs. evil is trivialized by comparison to a harmless series of books. The only crime J.K. Rowling is guilty of is getting kids' noses away from the T.V. and into books. As for Pokemon, referring to a cartoon as the work of Satan is simply moronic.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Stupidity...
Every day I become more and more shocked with the stupidity of the people in our society today. As a Christian, I try to lead a God-like life, as it says in the Bible, but it's kind of hard right now. This Phil Arms gives Christians everywhere a bad name. As Robert Fernandez said, every episode of Pokémon has a an important theme for children to learn: friendship, values, etc. Check out the first movie if you don't believe me; it deals with segregation and its own form of racism. As for Harry Potter: these books are FANTASY. Look them up on this website, they're under FANTASY. If, as an adult, you are so stupid as to think FANTASY is REAL-LIFE, you need to go back to kindergarten. I don't remember anyone bringing out this Christian controversy when Lord of the Rings came out. Oh no! Our children may think that Hobbits and Elves exist! AAAHHHH! Please. Anyone dissing this stuff obviously has no lives of their own, and needs to check their religious status. I'm not proud to be associated with close-minded [people] such as this.

1-0 out of 5 stars If you bought this book, throw it away.
I did not buy this book(thank God), but for those of you who did, throw it away. I am a Christian and even though I am a Christian I enjoy Pokemon and Harry Potter a lot. All this book is going to do is tell parents that Pokemon and Harry Potter is evil, which it is not. I am tired of people saying these two things are evil and things of the Devil. These two things are only to build a childs imagination. I am 15 years old and I enjoy Pokemon and Harry Potter a lot. And to the author of this book, I know you are entitled to your own opinion but I do not believe a word of it. Again, if you bought this book, throw it away.

1-0 out of 5 stars A laughable piece of literature lies before us!
Alright, before I start saying anything, let me explain that I'm a Christian and enjoy Pokemon very much. Since most of the good people here have already made some very good explanations of why Pokemon clearly is NOT "evil" or "demonic" or a "tool of Satan", I'd like to add an interesting statement: Do you REALLY think that Nintendo created Pokemon just to transform the youth of the world into devil-worshippers? C'mon, this is the same company that made the Super Mario games! Anyway, what I'm getting at is this; parents, don't let others(Like this wacko who wrote this tripe.) make decisions for you. Watch at least an episode of Pokemon (Like maybe the first episode) and you'll see that the show promotes friendship and teamwork and caring for others. And let the children of this world be free to build their imaginations; there's nothing wrong with that. (And I wonder why the guy who wrote this book only mentions "the children of America". What about the rest of the children, hmmm?)
In short, if you want to make your own decisions, you should refrain from buying books that don't want you to. ... Read more

I purchased this sticker book and absolutely love it. Great stickers that show the characters in the Harry Potter Book series in great detail. The stickers bring them alive. Would recommend for any "Potter Fan"...

3-0 out of 5 stars annoying
maybe It's because I'm not a potter fan... I've read his books, and liked them, so I got this book from a freind and read it It's not a bad book... It's just intended 4 the hooked. If u r 1 of them buy it, and you'll enjoy it very much, but if you're not - don't waste your money... the characters and the plot that make the other potter books are much less interesting in this one, and it's realy not 4u. ... Book Description

Based on exhaustive research, interviews with those who know her and a penetrating evaluation of the novels, this is the first full-length biography of one of the most important writers in the world today. She is the creator of probably the best-known and certainly the best-loved character in contemporary fiction; she is also the author of her own escape from an existance on the brink of poverty, with no job and few prospects. On the one hand there is J.K. Rowling, who wrote and continues to write, the Harry Potter novels, a literary phenomenon of both the last millenium, and the new one.On the other, there is Joanne Rowling, a quiet, dreamy, rather shy woman whose brilliance in translating her dreams into prose transformed her own life. The author examines the experiences that not only helped to shape J.K. Rowling, but that led in the end, as in all the best fairy tales, to fame and fortune. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Full of interesting facts....
I always wondered why someone would use a name that started with initials. This and other interesting facts are explained in this book by Sean Smith about the life of JK Rowling. If you are a fan of the Harry Potter series this book would be an enjoyable read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good for book reports!
I read this book for a book report, and found that it was extremely interesting. While a bit dry at times, it got very interesting around the time at which she was getting the book published. I highly recommend this book for Harry Potter fans, and for teenagers needing to read biographies for book reports.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for Harry fans!
I found this book very entertaining. JK Rowling's life has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride but the downs like her messy marriage and her mother's long term illness made me want to turn the pages all the more to see how it all turned out for her. It's an unpretentious read packed with facts about the author that I had no idea about. You can't always believe what you read in the newspapers! It's fun joining the author in trying to find Harry Potter references in her own life story and this book doesn't take itself too seriously. JK Rowling is a good writer but her own story is a great one. Thoroughly recommended.

1-0 out of 5 stars An exercise in conjecture
If I could give this half a star, I would. The only redeeming value of this book are the statistical citations (i.e. where she was born, where she went to school, etc.). The author is clearly trying to cash in on J.K. Rowling's success by writing a piece of drivel that is reminiscent of the desperation in final essay time in college; lots of padding little substance.

Smith makes giant leaps of logic in trying to detect inspiration from Rowling's life in her novels. These leaps are transparent and many of them seem more unlikely than possible.

I truly hope that either J.K. Rowling writes and autobiography or that she allows an accomplished biographer of some quality to interview her and access some of her old letters and so on. That would be worth a read. This was a waste of my time. Don't waste your money.

3-0 out of 5 stars Less random nonsense, more biographical info please
...

High on padding, low on truly insightful detail, this is a sad attempt at a biography by a man who seems to have only grasped the superficial aspects of the Harry Potter books anyway.

I look forward to the autobiography that I'm sure Joanne Rowling will be encouraged to write sometime in 2006 when the whole series is finally out. I do not recommend this book as being a particularly good substitute, but it's the best we'll get till then, I suppose. ... Read more
