5-0 out of 5 stars The Black Stallion and Satan
The Black Stallion and Satan is a great book by Walter Farley. It is the 3rd book in the Black Stallion series. This 178 page book was just as amazing as all the other Black Stallion books, so if you enjoyed the other book I suggest you read this one as well.

Right from the begining this book is exciting and suspensfull, you wont want to put it down. Alex gets a letter from Abu's daughter, telling him that her father has died, when he was thrown from the black. In his will Abu has left the Black to Alec. Abu has entered the black in a race. So Alec decided to let the Black run in that last race before his retirment, instead the Black and Satan end up in a race for there lives!

This is a great book that you will love just as much as the other Black Stallion books, but if you haven't read the other books I suggest that you read them before this one. This book would be good for anyone in there teens to adult.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Exciting Tale Of Stallion, Colt, and Wildfire!
If there was a book that could just sweep you away in a race of horses and nature, this is the book! Satan and The Black come head to head! But it isn't a race against each other, it's a race against a blazing inferno! You will see who truly is faster; The Black or His Son, Satan. It is a truly wonderful story. You won't be able to put it down!

Read the book! It is truly exciting. I guarantee it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Black Stallion and Satan
The Black Stallion and Satan is about Alec and both of his horses. In the beginning the Black isn't his. Alec misses the Black and Satan because he never gets any time alone with Satan now that he is a race horse. So when the Black's owner dies and leaves him to Alec, Alec decides not to race the Black. He buys a farm where he is going to retire the Black and use him to breed racehorses. When Alec learns that he is the only one who believes that the Black is faster than Satan, he decides to prove it and gets into a lot of trouble which results in the public finding out the Black is back in America. The press puts a lot of pressure on Alec to race the Black against Satan, an he agrees. Just before the race something happens to all the horses that are supposed to be in the race. Will anyone ever know which horse was faster?

5-0 out of 5 stars The Black Stallion and Satan
The Black Stallion and Satan 176 Pages By Kitty I could Identify with Alec Ramsay when he felt some stress over the upcoming International Cup Race. His stallion, the Black was going to be racing against some of the best racing stallions and colts in the world including his own son, who was also owned by the Ramsays and trained by their good friend Henry Dailey. Alec was stressed, because he was afraid he was going to have to pull the Black from the race because he was an aggressive unpredictable horse who might be compelled to fight the other stallions. There were a number of important events that resulted in the outcome of the story, and one might almost say there were multiple climaxes. The setting had a very big effect on the main character, and in a way changed the story. I enjoyed this book a lot and hope that if you choose to buy it, you will enjoy it too.

I like this book on Billy & Blaze because I like cowboys and they headed for the ranch on the summer.

I like being a cowboy.

I like this book alot!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Young Boys
The whole Billy and Blaze series is wonderful. This book is my son's favorite. The story is about how Billy takes Blaze on a ranch vacation. They see a wild horse they name Thunderbolt. None of the grown up cowboys can get near him. Blaze and Thunderbolt become fast friends. Eventually Thunderbolt follows them home, jumps in the corral with Blaze, and becomes friends with Billy. Billy is the only person Thunderbolt trusts and eventually lets Billy train him. Billy goes home from vacation with a beautiful new horse and Blaze has a best friend. My son was facinated by the friendship between the horses and how a boy could train such a big animal. The illustrations are beautiful and my son loves them. ... Read more

Book Description

When Ashley Grant appears at Heartland unannounced, Amy is immediately suspicious.Ashley has never been friendly -- she hasn't even been close to nice. Considering their history, Amy is intrigued when Ashley begs her to help train an expensive jumper purchased by Ashley's mom. Amy had noticed Ashley and Bright Magic at the last show. The horse exhibited amazing talent - despite its obvious agitation with its overbearing tack and Ashley's aggressive riding. Always thinking of the horse first, Amy promises to help out, and she finds herself entrenched in a family drama richer than her own. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars True Enough- Definitely Good Enough!
This is yet another of Lauren Brooke's amazing stories about the healing and training of troubled horses. Again Ashley interferes (she ALWAYS does, after all) but this time, the interference is a bit more disguised. It is not like Ashley to show up at Heartland unannounced, and definitely not at all like her to ask Amy for genuine help. Amy agrees to herlp retrain Bright Magic, a gorgeous and honest jumper, but after he begins to respond, Ashley no longer wants Amy's help. However, Ashley does drop her crop every time before she enters the jumping ring. A little interesting, isn't it? In many of her books, Brooke describes "joining up" a process of establishing trust and dominance and friendship between a person and a horse. I must say, it works! I have seen it being used at the stable I ride at, and I have experimented with it myself. My horse respects me and trusts me so much more when I am finished! Thanks Lauren Brooke!

4-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME BOOK!!!
I LOVED THIS BOOK AND ITS ABOSOLUTELY AWESOME, NOT AS GOOD AS THE FIRST FEW, BUT STILL GOOD!!! WHAT HAPPENS IS... AMY GOES TO A SHOW WITH STORM AND SEES ASHLEE TAKE A FALL OFF HER HORSE, LATER ON ASHLEE TURNS UP UNEXPECTEDLY ASKING AMY FOR HELP, ALL THE WHILE AMY IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG WITH BOXER, THE NEWEST HORSE AT HEARTLAND!!! 5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST BOOKS IN THE WORLD!
HI MY NAME IS ANNA AND I JUST LOVED THIS BOOK.AND ALL OF LAUREN BROOK'S OTHER ONES. TRUE ENOUGH IS ABOUT A YOUNG GRIL NAMED AMY. ONCE AGAIN SOMETHING COMES UP IN LIFE AND IT'S UP TO AMY TO FIX IT. IT STARTS WITH A BRATY GRIL NAMED ASHLEY GRANT. SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN RUDE TO HEARTLAND BUT THEN SHE TURNS AROUND AND ASKED AMY TO HELP HER TRAIN A EUROPEAN SHOW JUMPER NAMED BRIGHT MAGIC. AMY CAN'T SAY NO. SO SHE DECIDES TO HELP THE RICH,RUDE,ASHLEY BUT AMY DOES IT FOR THE HORSE NOT THE RIDER IN THIS CASE. I AM A WRITER MYSELF AND I WORK AT A HORSE FARM. LAUREN BROOKE HAS HELPED ME BECOME A BETTER WRITER AND GIVIN ME IDEAS FOR WHEN I WORK AT THE FARM. SO I HOPE SHE INSPIRES YOU IN SOME WAY AND TO FIND OUT HOW THE BOOK ENDS YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO READ IT FOR YOURSELF.

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC
I thought this book and the rest of the Heartland series was absolutely brilliant. I love the original approach Lauren has taken by having her main characters use join-up and alternative remedies on the horses. I also thought the conflict between Amy and Ashley was dealt with in a very realistic way. I hope Lauren continues with this series because I never want it to end!

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool Book!
This was a really good book! Amy tries to help a horse named Boxer who won't eat and he has been at Heartland for 3-days. Amy is now into showing 3'6" with her horse, Storm. They go to a show and see Ashley. Ashley has her new danish bred horse, Bright Magic. Magic is a gorgeous horse, and Amy knows he could be the perfect show horse. However, he also has a harsh kimberick and a restrictive standing martingale. Magic explodes in the ring, and Ashley takes a tumble on top of the wall jump. Amy wins, but her victory is hollowed when she sees Ashley truely scared and pale. Amy comes over to Heartland and pleads Amy's help with Magic. Meanwhile, Amy is taking care of Boxer, Sundance, Dancer, Storm, and Red. Plus, Matt has broken up with Ashley, and Amy needs to be there for him...despite all that is going on. Amy and Ty are getting really close, and they kiss in the grocery store, and Ashley snickers and tells everyone, which gets MATT mad at Amy! Despite ALL of this, Amy still works with Magic. Can Amy heal Magic, show storm, work at Heartland, and STILL have time with her family? Most of all, will Ashley listen to Amy or just blow away her training...? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book.
This is a special book to me, as it was the book upon which my son's first book report was written about a dozen years ago. It was also the last time he needed my collaboration on a school project.
The story is a nice introduction to American History and to the world of horses, both of which continue to interest him as he heads off to an Ivy-laden college this fall.

3-0 out of 5 stars Growing Big Together
I must be romping through my third childhood because I still love this classic equine tale about the founder of a truly
American breed of horse. I enjoyed it now just as much as when I was young; Henry's story holds up with successive readings
since the human emotions are sincere, and the dramatic events are true. The young protagonist, Joel, has a passion for horses; as a young man he dreams of finding his beloved, Lil Bub, the first Morgan colt whom no one wanted.

Even more, this is a story of Vermont--famous for its Green Mountains and courageous patriots--during the War of 1812. Later on in the story we witness a brief but triumphant presidential visit, where the Morgan horse was publically recognized.

Plenty of dialogue, short chapters and excellent b/w sketches by Wesley Dennis combine to give us a delightful gallop into the Yankee past. No one knows for certain who sired the "little" colt, whom only a poor boy could admire, but tales of his racing speed and pulling strength quickly made him a local legend, with farmers eager to get stud rights. Like BLACK BEAUTY this book is written for kids and horse lovers of all ages. PS: Because they are so strong and fast, Morgans are used in the National Park Service.

4-0 out of 5 stars A little too steriotypical, but a good read overall
The story line is very lovely, a book about the strong bond between a boy and the sire of a truely noble breed of horses: the Morgan. It is based on a true story. Readers should be warned that some of the characters are made out to be very steriotypical Vermont poor folk *limited vocabulary and wearing scraps of leather for shorts, ect. ect. ect.* and may be offended by such. I myself have heard several complaints on this. However, the overall effect does present a believable story. Worth looking into.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good book
This book was pretty good, but could be compared to King of the Wind and Born to Trot. This book was a good book, but not the best of Marguerite Henry's books.King on the Wind and Born to Trot are much more exciting to read. All in all,I liked the book, but found it boring in some parts.I am still a faithful M.H. reader.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fritz the Loveable Pony!
This story is a story of not only a little pony who is excluded from the city, but he is an extremely loveable little fellow. His determination and friendliness will surely capurte the heart of any child. As for the end, it is filled with contentment and joy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fritz and the Beautiful Illustrations!
Not only a wonderful, heartwarming story for any age of horse and childhood lover, but the illustrations stand completely on their own. We have two others books by the same illustrator / author and are actively seeking more. A must have for all children's and pen and ink art libraries!

5-0 out of 5 stars Charming story by a well-loved children's author
This is a wonderful story about Fritz, a short, shaggy pony who lives his life in the shadow of the tall, sleek horses of the kingdom. His life changes, however, when this little "nobody" prances forward to rescue the children when the "beautiful" horses cannot.

An endearing story which teaches children that true beauty is found inside. As with all Jan Brett books, the charming illustrations will captivate even the smallest of children.

Add this one to your child's library ... it's sure to quickly become a favorite!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully magical and engaging.
I had read this book as a child, then recently came across it again as an adult. Although the story itself is simple, the moral is timeless and holds the characteristics of a downplayed fairytale. As a horse lover, I feel that there are not enough books out there which center around the majestic beast. Fritz is akin to Charlie Brown's Christmas tree. A not so beautiful, diamond in the rough, heart of gold pony who will fill readers' hearts. This book has incidentally inspired me to try my hand at writing children's horse stories as well. I recommend it to anyone who wants to teach children the importance of all too rare goodness which needs to be duplicated time and again.

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderfully written and illustrated story.
Fritz is not beautiful, but he is gentle and kind and hard working. He rescues the children when the beautiful horses would not. This story, like all of Jan Brett's books, is wonderfully illustrated and teaches a lesson while showing the joys animals bring to a child's life. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful historical fiction for young people......!!!!
My seven year old daughter and I finished this book last night. She was very sad to have it end. What a wonderful account of the devastating storm that hit the islands of Assateague and Chincoteague and the relief efforts to rebuild the islands and the devastated wild pony population.

It was very heartwarming to read in the epilogue excerpts from actual letters of children that sent in their hard earned money to buy back the ponies sold at previous Pony Penning Days to replenish the wild herds of Assateugue. These children and others like them preserved a tradition that had been maintained for over 100 years and because of them continues on today. In fact, Marguerite Henry dedicated this book to those very children that made it all possible.

Marguerite Henry does an excellent job of using local dialect in the telling of the story, especially with Grandpa and Grandma. You can not help but become involved in the characters and their concerns become very real to you.

I read this book many many years ago and had forgotten a great deal of the story. One of the things I did remember was Misty being put in Grandma's kitchen to wait out the storm.

If you are like me and read this book many years ago I encourage to reread it. You will be glad you did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Read this great book!
This book is about a horse named Misty. She is going ot have a colt. The colt is a Mare and her name is Stormy. Stormy`s family tree is made up out of The Phantom and the pied piper had Misty, Misty and Wings had Sormy. But there was a flood and the flood killed Wings. He was a good horse untill he drounded in the flood. The reason Misty didn`t die was because she was put into a house. The house belonged to Mrs. and Mr. Bebbe. They had two grandchildren. Their names were Paul and Maureen. Paul and Maureen were very excited that Misty was going to have a colt. But Grandpa thought that Misty`s colt was dead inside of her. Grandma said that she was not even going to die when she was born.

If you like to read you will like this book as much as I did. The reason I liked this bookwas because it is a true story and it was written before it happened. This book was a little better than Misty of Chincoteague. I loved reading this book because it was interesting. It also was filled with action and excitment.

The theme of this story was to save Misty from the flood. If they didn`t save Misty her foal won't be able to talk Misty's place as the wild mare.

5-0 out of 5 stars Foal of Waves
This is the true story of Misty, a famous horse who gave birth to a foal named Stormy during a raging, devastating storm. The book then presents an accurately detailed account of rebuilding the island of Chincoteauge after the storm.
The plot of this is exciting and suspenseful book twists just to the reader's liking, and has times of slow sadness. The odd regional colloquial speech of the characters may sometimes confuses the reader, but it is so well written you it presents a mental picture better than a movie.
This is a very interesting book to me. Its many scenes convey many different emotions: some humor, some happiness, and some intense sorrow. I am also extremely inspired by Paul Beebe, who shows courage and self-control as I would like to. It is a favorite of mine, and a worthy addition to any bookshelf.

5-0 out of 5 stars very good book
this was a very good book and i enjoyed it a lot. everyone should read it because it has a very good story line. i would reccomend this book to people who love to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Misty's Survival
No pony would want to be pregnant in the middle of the big hurricane that killed almost everything in Chincoteague and Assateague. Paul and Maureen love the fact that Misty is going to have a baby until the storm hits. When Paul and Maureen leave Misty, everyone is extremely worried. Misty needs to find a way to survive along with her unborn baby! This is a wonderful story that will have you hanging on to every page. I recommend this book to anybody who has read Misty of Chincoteague or anyone who likes horse stories. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book Yet!
Amy is working hard, getting up early in the morning and sleeping late at night. This has been going on ever since Tim, Amy's father bought her and Lou Storm. Storm is a beautiful Trakehner x Thoroughbred, and was bred for competition. He is completely unsuited to a place like Heartland. With so many horses to help at Heartland, Amy starts stressing out to the point of where she almost hit a horse. In the meantime, she was slowly working with Willow, a 14hh pony who was beaten since she was weaned. Amy is the only one she truly trusts. While at a show, Willow gets an injury and won't let anyone near her. Amy realizes then that she can't keep going on like this with Storm and Heartland. The rest is up to you to find out, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Intriguing Horse Book
Hello my name is Anna, this is a amazing book by Lauren Brooke. Amy now is doing what she always wanted to. She is competing like her dad on her dapple gray horse named Storm, and caring on her mothers work at Heartland. She keeps telling herself she can compete and work at Heartland. But it's just to much work to do both. Sooner or Later Amy will have to pick between her amazing horse and Heartland.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book I've read!
Sooner or later is a very good book. This book has lots of emotions in it. Trust me I even cried. It is sad but very interesting. If you are a person who loves to ride, read or just love animals and horses than this is the book. This book is part of the serie "Heartland". So if you've read this book I suggest you read the whole serie!
This book is about Amy and her show jumper, Storm. Amy has a BIG decision to make: enter the show jumping life like her father or stay at Heartland to help damaged and abused horses. What will she pick? Read the book to know the answer.

Have fun reading!

2-0 out of 5 stars Skip this one, you won't be missing anything
Lauren Brooke should just stop before these books get any worse. I think she's running out of good ideas, but still wants to keep writing the Heartland books. She is starting to repeat the plots: Amy has a problem, no one understands her, she cries alot, and then it's all solved. Also, Ty is totally unsupportive. Ben is much more sensitive.
The other books, at least up to number ten, were really good. I really liked reading them.
I rated this two stars, instead of zero, because I usually like the Heartland books. Also, at least it has horses in it. I hope the next one is better. I'm not too hopeful about correct information though; it said something about a hurricane in Virginia!

5-0 out of 5 stars Heartland- Sooner Or Later

So sooner or later Amy is going to have to make a decision between Storm, her beloved horse or Heartland her beloved home. ... Read more

hint that Karla Starr has got him. Sam's furious. Intent on hunting the Phantom down Sam goes from rodeo to rodeo
until she see's him in an arena, but he's been drugged! The vet checks him over. He is able to return to the wild.

This is a story about a girl who is determined to keep her beloved horse free no matter what.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book in The Phantom Stallion series!!!
This book is great! I loooved it. It has a lot of supspense and emotion. The Phantom gets into trouble in this book and Sam is there to help him. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Winner of The Most Touching Book!
Free Again is one of the most touching books I have ever read. It is about a beautiful Medicine Hat Pinto filly. She is blind, and her name is Faith. When she gets lost in a snowstorm, it is the Phantom who saves her. All the Phantom Stallion books are really good. I especially like how descriptive and realistic Mrs. Farley is. Sometimes, I feel like I'm there, like I'M Sam or Ace or the Phantom. And, Free Again introduces Trudy Allen, Faith's owner. I think this is the best Phantom Stallion book so far, and I hope Terri Farley writes a hundred of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lina's Review of Free Again
In the Phantom Stallion book, Free Again, by Terri Farley, Sam gets into another exciting adventure. This time it involves a seemingly mean old neighbor. Mrs. Trudy Allen doesn't seem like the type to save the day- she doesn't even take care of her horses properly! However, she comes to the rescue when twelve unwanted BLM mustangs are endangered. Brynna, the nice BLM manager, has gone on a business trip and her substitute is a big know-it-all, who would rather put the sweet horses to sleep than transport them to a special pasture for misfit horses. Sam and Trudy Allen work together to create a paradise for unwanted horses, including a sweet, blind little mustang, Faith. In the end, Sam and Jake pull off a daring rescue on a cold, snowy night, and Sam snaps a picture that will win her the Night Magic photography prize.

5-0 out of 5 stars such a good book!!!
I Love this book, it is so good, and really touches on foals in general, Faith reminds me of a filly at my friends barn sweet and mischevious as all get out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Free Again
This is a great book, I loved it.

Sam is walking home from school one day when three horses follow her home two paints and a bay the thing is they leave when Sam crosses the River Bend bridge. Sam tells her Gram and Gram seems to recall that Trudy Allen From Deerpath Ranch loves paint horses and that the three horses might belong to her. Problem is that Sam and Jake used to think Mrs Allen was a witch. And pretty soon Sam is working for the old lady.

After that Gram says Bryanna Olson (Sam's, Dads girlfriend) is having some trouble trying to find homes for unadoptable mustangs. Bryanna wants them homed because she is afraid her stand in Norman white a representitive from Las Vegas might put them down while she is away on business

Sam tries to think out a plan at least a few of the horses are paints and Gram had said Mrs Allen loved paint horses. But things turn from bad to worse when Glen Scott the local equine vet and the BLM's on call vet, calls and says that Norman white called to have the horses put down, he's even got a backo digging one big grave and that one of the disfigured mares gave birth to a filly, a blind fillie. And the reason Mr White wants to have the horses put down is because he considered them unhealthy because of the way they looked.

Will the Blind filly be put down or will Trudy Allen save the day? it comes down to this and this is quite a good read so please do.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for the horselover of any age!
The Billy & Blaze series was my absolute favorite in gradeschool-- the illustrations are gorgeous, and the stories are well thought out and written superbly. I remember signing this series out of the school library over and over and over again... now as an adult, I am THILLED to see it offered here at Amazon. None of these books will disappoint a horselover-- no matter what age you are!

5-0 out of 5 stars Blaze and the Gray Spotted Pony
The is the BEST of the charming and beautiful Billy and Blaze series by CW Anderson. Billy gets a human friend this time, who loves horses as much as Billy does. This friend wants a gray spotted pony for his birthday--Billy and Blaze have to go FIND him one. It's a hackneyed plot (no pun intended, Hackney lovers) but it is done right without any silliness. But this is a Billy and Blaze book, and any collector of them know the REAL reason to buy a Billy and Blaze book are for the amazing CW Anderson pencil drawings! It is amazing to see, over the course of the series, how much this man had improved as one of the top equine artists of this country and he is sorely missed. This is a great book to read as a stress-reliever for pony loving adults, or a bedtime story for children ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Dark Sunshine is great!
This is my favorite of the Phantom Stallion series. My daughter is reading #10 right now...I am only on #7, but I am really enjoying these books! This series is great not only for kids, but for the grown-ups too! If you love horses, you'll love these books. Dark Sunshine is a wild mustange which had been used as a "decoy" to lead other mustangs into a trap. Sam uses her tremendous horse skills to save her and make the mare feel safe in her new home.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dark Sunshine- Seen Lighter Days
Terri Farley really exhibits her strength when it comes down to knowing the hard facts in her third book, Dark Sunshine. All of the information is well-organized and certainly accurate. You can't write a book like this unless you have really got your hands dirty and done it yourself, and I believe Farley has.

Sam is off on another crazy, exhilirating adventure, and she'll plop you on a horse for the ride. You get a real, in-depth feeling of really being out there, really seeing what's happening. Sam has to experiment with Dark Sunshine to get a response, and it is touching to read about the dedication and heart Sam displays so clearly. For young and old horse lovers alike, this book and the entire series is defintely worth reading!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Unique and Uplifting Story
Like all the other books in this series, this book is incredibly well written. The author creates images within words, sending the readers imagination on a joy ride. Terri Farley has a wonderful and beautiful way of bringing things to life, and to me, Sam, Dark Sunshine, Ace, and the Phantom are all real. I often end up imagining myself in Sam's shoes, looking into the deep, gorgeous chocolate eyes of the buckskin mare she falls in love with on the side of a mountain. Dark Sunshines condition is heart-renching, descriped so vividly, it makes all horse lovers shudder. Can Sam save this horse--and make her useful on the ranch?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great but very emotional
This is a WONDERFUL book. I love Saddle Club books and I wish I could read them all. But I can't because I can't find any of them. I have read all of the books in my school library and the public libraries. In this book Veronica DiAngalo a snobby rice girl owns a beutiful thourobreed named Colbalt. Carole (a memdber of the Saddle Club) is in love with him. While Veronica can't take care of her horse Carole exercises Colbalt and even teaches him some new trickes. When Veronica's carelessness cause Colbalt his life Carole thinks she will never ride again. When she comes back to the stables she finds out that the horse she usually rides is going to foal and Colbalt is the father! This is an exciting book and I would recomend it to anyone who loves horses.

4-0 out of 5 stars Horse Shy
This book was number two of the Saddle Club. It is about a tragic jumping accident with Colbalt caused by Veronic's carelessness. Carole is heart broken and promised herself that she would never ride again. She stuck to this pretty long too. As she was getting over never riding again her best friends, Steve and Lisa, told her she didn't finish a job. Carole always finished things. When she finally came around and decided to ride again she found out her horse she had been riding was going to have a baby and Colbalt is the father

4-0 out of 5 stars a good light read
Carole is really happy after the Mountain Trail Overnight. Her horse is great, and she gets to help Veronica with Cobalt. Then Veronica rushes Cobalt over a jump and he dies. Carole's whole world comes crashing down, but Stevie and Lisa are amazed that one horses death can keep her from ridng. This is like many other death-of-a-horse books out there: the horse dies, the girl vows never to ride again, then a magic event turns her bak onto riding. But its good! Really good! They shouldve' ended the SC after about 50 books. They start to loose their originality. Most of the plots are: Veronica's a brat, can the saddle club pay her back? or Sonso rides better than Saddle Club member_____...is she jealous, and--that's pretty much it ...

5-0 out of 5 stars Goodbye Cobolt...
Carole, Stevie, and Lisa on finally on the long awaited MTO! They have so much fun, they never want it to end. When they get back, though, Carole is given premission to take care of Veronica's beautiful stallion, Cobolt. Everything's perfect. That is, until Carole gets back from her vacation and is rushed to the barn. It's horrible when she gets there. Cobolt is dead.

After the incident, Carole swears that she'll never ride again. Lisa and Stevie know that Carole loves horses too much to give them up forever. But what can they do?

While this is all happening, Stevie and Lisa are keeping their promise and trying to find out who Max the first really was. The old man is impossible to find info on, though!

Read this book if you want to read a sad, happy, fun, and mishcevious story. Great again, Ms. Bryant!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good
Thiis book was very good, but I found the part about Carole not wanting to ride dragged on for a bit too long. It was good, overall, and the first part of the story was really fun! I reccomend all Saddle Club books! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Horses - Strength, Grace and Poetry in Motion
I have owned this book for years. I still read it when it is not possible to feel the wind in my hair for real. The breathtaking pictures, the lovely stories and the obvious connection GaWaNi has with Kola, his horse, all make this an outstanding book and mini escape for me. Thank you Mr. Pony Boy and Ms. Boiselle!

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Illustrated book for kids
Nice pics but not a HUGE amount of substance. But, girls who love horses aren't looking for a lot of that anyway! They want pictures and romantic thoughts about being with horses. That's what they get!

5-0 out of 5 stars Learning about horses and life
Leadership through trust and respect is one of the many lessons the young reader will learn from this book. The simple tools and techniques for starting a line of communication with horses are presented in a wise and gentle manner. Indeed, the Native American philosophy of teaching horses coincides with their attitude toward all animals living on, in, or above Mother Earth, and that is responsibility for them and mutual respect among and between them. GaWaNi Pony Boy speaks of creating the right environment for understanding, and his thoughts, words, and deeds are relevant to everyday life. The book is artfully laid out and contains beautiful and decoratively captioned photographs. There are several Native American tales and sayings, such as, "...the reason Creator gave two-leggeds two ears and one mouth was so that we would listen twice as much as we talk." I found this book to be a most enjoyable learning experience and recommend it to adults and youngsters alike. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully engaging book series
This book series is extremely well written and keeps you engaged in the on-going story of Heart and the unicorns, Avamir and Moonsilver. I bought these books for my seven year old Daughter and ended up glued to the books myself. She is thoroughly enjoying them and I had to keep reading from one book to the other to find out what was going to happen. I myself am an avid book reader and was pleasantly surprised to find myself as an adult pulled into the story to that extent. I would heartily recommend these books to any child interested in horses, unicorns or someone looking for a well written story. Heart is a wonderful heroine and someone all little girls can look up to. Happy Reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous series
I love this series of books. My daughter is in first grade and cannot put these books down - and neither can I, her 40 year old mother. It is such a lovely, warm story, full of love and sympathy. It is just perfect for little girls, who love horses and unicorns and stories about them. I don't understand why this series is not more popular than it is... they are not stocked at the bookstores. Even my library does not have the full set. But each story leaves you longing for the next one. We are currently on book 5, Sunset Gates.

5-0 out of 5 stars Magical
These books are gems!!!

Heart is a true hero, a good-hearted girl finding her way along a difficult path, learning own strength. Readers will be happily drawn into her journey as she discovers herself and the magical world around her.

I loved this series. I only wish I still had small children to read it with! That said, my teenage daughters loved the books too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Irresistible
My 8-year-old niece loved this book and so did I. It has all the elements of enchantment--abandoned orphan girl, cruel guardian, hints of a mysterious, perhaps even royal, past and, of course, unicorns--even a baby unicorn. But I particularly enjoyed the tone and style of the book. It's appealing and fun, but it isn't overly sweet. As my niece said, "It isn't silly." It's set in a realistic medieval world that gives added emphasis to the daring efforts of Heart, the main character, to save the unicorns. I guess the book is designed for beginning readers, but it didn't seem simple or like it was talking down.
We can't wait for the third book in the series! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointment as Big as the Phanton
I have read only the first five chapters and, from the looks of it, the book is pretty disappointing. City traffic, crowds -- what happened to the fun and joy of the captivatinging books that came before it? There should at least be a few characters (besides the mom) who are really into going to Chincoteague!

3-0 out of 5 stars pretty good
this book was a pretty good book, but it was not as good as the other misty books. but it was still pretty good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Misty's Twilight Review
A colt in the line of Misty is born. His name is Twilight. He is going to compete with the horses of the world. Twilight ends up being able to compete. If I could, I'd rate this story 9,000 stars!

1-0 out of 5 stars A Huge Disappointment
I've been reading the Misty of Chincoteague books to my 7 yr old horse-loving daughter over the last few months, and have loved Misty, Stormy, and Sea Star. Twilight was an incredible let-down. We felt we knew the Beebe family and many of the Chincoteague residents intimately; none of them were mentioned in this book, and even Pony Penning and all it's festivities were only touched in passing. We never connected with the characters in this book. The kids weren't likeable because they didn't like horses, and complained about having to work on the Farm. Sandy, the Mom, was inconsistent, proclaiming her love of horses and of spending time with them, but not doing it. Chapter 16 closes with them thinking they'll try making Twilight into a cross country jumper, with Sandy envisioning herself riding the jumps with her pony. Yet Chapter 18 opens with Sandy not having had any contact with Twilight for months, and wondering if there was even any bond left between the pony and herself. Sandy lost all credibility with me, and my daughter, when she sent her son away to boarding school because of "teenage mischief-making;" she obviously spent as little time with her children as with her horses, and solved her problems with her children the same way as with her horses, by sending them off to someone else to deal with. The book also lost credibility when Sandy missed Twilight's first dressage show because of opening the invitation too late, but has her dreaming of watching the show, then researching dressage for a hour to learn what her horse had been doing for the last year, instead of picking up the phone and calling to find out how the horse did. And lastly, somehow "Twi" was invited to participate in a prestigious regional show after placing in two events in one show; anyone who knows anything about showing horses knows you need to earn a high number of points in the duration of a show season to get such an invite. We forced ourselves to finish this book, but it was drudgery, not the eager anticipation we had for the previous Misty books.

1-0 out of 5 stars Misty's Twilight
Alright, I downright hated this book! All it talks about how this part Chincoteague part Thoroughbred becomes a superstar like all of the horse books that are written now. It is like no duh the horse is going to win because the horse is the main character of the book! And, what kind of nickname is "Twi"? It's downright stupid. I just hated this book and I can not believe that some many people actually like this book. I think that the best illustration was when the ugly rat had her ribs sticking out. The worst was when she was doing all of the dressage moves. I mean, they only teach those moves at the Spanish Riding School, so Rat should not know them, especially a near perfect capriole. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Thoroughbred #7, Samantha's Pride
This book was the greatest!!!! I loved it when Pride won the Derby against "Lord Ainsley". It was so neat!! I would really like to wring Brad Townsend's head. Where does he think HE has any buisness training Pride?! I think Samantha and Ashleigh are the best people with Pride. Even though it was sad when Pride lost the Belmont and the Triple Crown by half a nose, he is still a wonderful colt and I can't wait to see his racing years and foals in the years to come. FIVE STARS!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Go Pride!
Sammy and Pride are really makin' it big now! I got so mad at Brad during the book that I almost threw it down! It's been a long time since I've read such an exciting story!

3-0 out of 5 stars plot was okay, facts were not
Okay, the racing aspect of this book was alright, although the problem was solved way too easily. That would never happen in real life. But what really bothered me was the part about Samantha learning to jump. I realize that Sammy is a good rider, but learning to jump 3 feet perfectly in a matter of months is absolutly ridiculas. It takes years to perfect the skill of jumping a course, and it takes years to go from low jumps to 3'. Especially if you are taking 1 lesson a week, like Sammy. I've been jumping for 4 years now, and just last year I started jumping 3 feet, and my courses are still not perfect. Perhaps Sammy's horse never makes a mistake. That's possible. I've seen hunters that don't make mistakes ever. But its just not realistic. And it bothers me because it makes it seem like jumping is so easy.

5-0 out of 5 stars An exciting book
This book really kept me on the edge of my seat. The book made you hate Brad Townsend! Pride is being overaced and all the Townsends can think about is making more money! This is definitely one of the best of the Thoroughbreds and worth every penny. Good for grades 4-7 and horse lovers

This is a great book. Lulu Sanders's father went out to study bears and the couple he was going with had a daughter named Melissa who came to stay at the Sanders house while they were gone. To the Pony Pal's dismay, she cared about nothing but makeovers, manicures, and other things like that. They wanted to convince her that ponies were important, beautiful, and fun to ride. Can they change Melissa's mind? You'll have to read The Girl Who Hated Ponies to find out. I hope you found my reveiw helpful.
