Book Description

My name is Todd Aldridge. At least, I think it is....

Where did I go?

I don't remember much about the night I disappeared. One minute I saw the strange light in the sky. The next minute I saw a strange light in the sky. The next minute I woke up in the hospital. The thing is, it wasn't the next minute. It was nine months later....

What happened to me?

Some people think I was kidnapped. Others say I was abducted by aliens. I don't know what to believe. But I know this: I'm not the same as before. I've changed. And I keep changing. Suddenly I make myself look like different people. Anyone I want. The only problem is, I'm forgetting who I really am.

Who am I? ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This one's going to be a movie...
The first book I've read of the Mindwarp series and I'm hooked - couldn't put it down! Although it's told over only 3 days (1 birthday/abduction, 2 waking up in hospital/going home, 3 rendezvous with mothership) it has all the makings of a major thriller movie!! So I thought why not put all the books in the series, write a script merging them all together and shoot a FILM?? Hell why not create a WEBSITE at the same time? I'm open for suggestions and interest, so drop me a line on my email address above!

5-0 out of 5 stars Shapeshifter: A New Twist
I have to give Chris Archer credit here, he really knows how to throw a curve ball in this game. I totally wasn't expecting to be reading a book with an alien assasin as the narrator. But it was great, although I haven't figured out what the cover picture relates to. Deryk, if you're reading this, you were wrong about Flash Forward being about a boy. Your reasoning was logical, but the way most sci-fi/fantasy authors think isn't. Also, you really shouldn't ruin the book for everyone like that. Takes the fun out of things, you know?

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool book!
This book was so cool. The main character was... Todd Aldridge! I was so surprised. I just noticed a pattern for the... alien kids. Ethan, Ashley, Jack, Elana, Todd, and Toni. See the pattern? It's boy, girl, boy, girl, boy, and girl. So #7, "Flash Forward" will be a boy alien. But back to this one. Todd was at the reservoir when he disappeared. He saw a bright flash of light and fainted, sort of. He woke up in the "next minute" at a hospital. But it was 9 months later, not the next day. Is Todd's birthday in July? Cause 9 months from April is July, right? I realy wish there was a web site for the series! Will there ever be one? Anyway, Todd goes back to school. Everything's different. He has a family; his parents care about and for him; his friend; Bentley grew 10 inches; Jack was serious; Ethan didn't look like someone you should mess with; and Jack and Ethan hung out with "Splashley Rose." Todd found out he has silver blood. He goes to a hypnotist. He finds himself at the mall in a closet. At home, he finds that he stole the videotape. He watches it and realizes he's the alien assassin and now he has to save his friends by making them not go to the reservoir at midnight. That's the part I'm confused about. Was there ever a real Todd? How'd he become an assassin? Did they take his brains out and drain it into Cynor?(the alien assassin's name) Well, I don't want to spoil the story for you, so it's better to read the book... I can't wait for "Aftershock" though. That's about Toni Douglas. She was mentioned in "Second Sight." I am also waiting for "Flash Forward." It sounds so cool! I wonder who it will be about... ... 4-0 out of 5 stars it was okay
Toni is not my favourite probably because between Jacks jokes, Ethans serious and Ashs combination of the two Toni stands there and whines the other books in the series are better,if I hadn't read the other mindwarp books then I would probably like it alot better. The book gets good near the end when she is in the ______ car and the driver is __ _______ .I have heard alot of people talking about wanting a website so maybe someone who's good at making websites could make an official mindwarp fan site,I'd be happy to help.

5-0 out of 5 stars An electrifying story
I've read the entire Mindwarp series of 10 books and I still think Aftershock is the best (Alien Terror comes in second). Since there's no real explanation of the book I felt I'd better tell you what it's about. Antonia 'Toni' Douglas is your typical American girl. Cheerleader and shopper, she does things with zest and wit and an excellent vocabulary. The story opens up with her shopping in a mall for a birthday present (she's turning 13). However, while in the changing room, she gets transported to the past (ten years before to be exact!). She does return, but when she dose, she's arrested for shoplifting (she had 'left' with a boutique shirt still on). Later on, during a storm, Toni gets chased by punks and just when she thinks she's done for, the punks get zapped by lightning. It isn't until later that Toni discovers that it wasn't lightning from the sky, but an electricity bolt from HER. Toni has the powers to drain electricity from objects and shock people- also, if she collects enough electricity, she can go back through time. It's then that Toni finds out she's not alone. 5 other teens also have powers. This is the basic info. on them:

Ethan Rogers has super human fighting abilities (more in Alien Terror, #1 Mindwarp), Ashley Rose can swim underwater for any amount of time, and can split herself like a 'planariun' worm and regrow body parts, without harming herself (more in Alien Blood, Mindwarp #2) and Jack Raynes can comprehend and speak any language even insect, fax, and alien (Alien Scream, #3). Elena Vargas (Second Sight, #4 Mindwarp) has the powers of a seer, a telepath and can move out of her body in spirit. Todd Aldridge (Shape Shifter, #5)is a shape shifter. However, it isn't long before things tart to fall apart. Toni discovers that there's somebody out to eliminate the 'gifted' teens. The things are shape shifters, super human beings (with black bug like globes where their eyes should be) that try to kill you right when your powers emerge. Elena and Todd have already been captured and the creatures now want the rest.

And they are clueless as to how they can stop them.

5-0 out of 5 stars my favorite!
its an awesome book! in fact, its my favorite. you really should read it if you like mindwarp books! i think toni, the person who gets the powers, has a really cool power. she can travel through time and get electricity from her palms. i can't think of anything else to type, but you really should read it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Read This Fantastic Book
What I think is so great about Mindwarp #6 is that Chris Archer-- I'm assuming that he's a guy, and not "Christine Archer"-- has told the story of a twelve year old African American girl so convincingly! I'm going through the Mindwarp series with my kids, and I've been really impressed with all of them, but this one has been the most consistently innovative and surprising. Keep it up, Chris!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very, Very cool!
I read Aftershock and thought it was soooo excellent! I love Toni's personality! I would love to have her powers! I've read all the Mindwarp books and they are so good. You can't put them down! Anyone who dreams of having superpowers will love it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific Book
The book was terrific, but not excellent. I would say the excellent books are the Animorphs. But the Mindwarp series are just beginning and soon they might be better than the Animorphs. So far I've read every Mindwarp book that's out. (1-4) # 4 is kind of mysterious because the alien is a 13 year old girl who's name is Elena *Vargas* All the other teen aliens have last names that begin with R but I'll just have to finish reading " Second Sight " to find out what happens. This book was terrific as I was saying. In the beginning it talks about what a loser Ethan is. After his birthday, he wrestles with ______ and wins. He also stops a burglar but he knows that he was stabbed by him but when he wakes up, Ethan is in a hospital. He finds out that the nosy reporter that's following him is a alien in disguise. My favorite part of this book was when Ethan almost killed _______. Ethan killed the alien with his venomous poison bite. Then he went back to being a nerd...but that's not the end for Ethan. To find out more you should really read the whole series starting from book # 1. Keep up the good work Christopher Archer. Your # 1 fan, Deryck K.

5-0 out of 5 stars I would rate it 30, but 10 is the highest I can go.
I love it!!! But since I live in the Philippines, I usually get the books a month later *sigh*. Other than that, love the book, love the series, good as the Animorphs. Chris Archer, you the man! Kadizha

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Book and A Great Series of Books
This Book is awesome, I"ve read them over and over and I"ve shared them with my friends, who loved them. Everyone who's read them has loved them. I can't believe they weren't as popular as other series, but I love them. Well, you have to read them is all I have to say.

5-0 out of 5 stars one of my favourites
this book has everthing a science fiction book(or movie)needs.it has that touch of realism between all the super powers.the people have proper personalities.Ethans thoughts are realistic.I think this book is up with the best mindwarp books.one of the downfalls is it doesn't mention any of the other characters, even in passing soyou don't know what Ethan thought about anyone before they got their powers.if this isn't turned into a movie before i'm old enough to make movies I would like to make it, although I'd really like to act as Ashley.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a cool book!
I though this was a really good book. It is the first in a ten book series. This one is about a boy named Ethan Rogers, the adopted son of the chief of police, in the town of Metier, Wisconsin. Metier had a reputation for UFO sightings, but nobody ever believed in aliens. Of course the kids always hoped that the sightings might be real, and that they might be the ones to spot the alien. The main character is not really an alien guy, he is a comic book freak always imaging that he had superhero powers. On his thirteenth birthday though he is not so pleased to discover he does have amazing powers. All of a sudden he can fight like a professional, even though he has never had any training. And he can see heat and heal quickly. And he is beginning to suspect that someone or something, is trying to kill him. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 1 of the best books you'll ever read
I have had the worst time trying to decide my favourite mindwarp book between 9,7,2 and 1. today it's 2 but tomorrow it could be anything, the point is I totally love all of the mindwarp books and have read all of them.Ashley is by far my favourite,I wish I could be just like her.In this book she only just discovers her powers, she discovers Ethan also has powers,Ashley discovers...something to do with her blood an "alien" tries to kill her and succeeds... I shall not say more.I would like to say I am the biggest Mindwarp fan truthfully, but I read when someone else said that and felt hurt that she thought that she could possibly be a bigger fan than me.I read them every day, have spent about $75 for 2 books of my own money and gotten 7 books for christmas.I haven't read a non-mindwarp book since Christmas...you can judge who's the biggest fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool Plot!
I thought this was a really good book. It is the second in the Mindwarp series, and there are ten in all. This book is about a girl named Ashley Rose. She is just your average seventh grader, whose fellow students consider a little weird. Then on her thirteenth birthday she falls through the ice on the reservoir - and survives. She discovers that she has gained the amazing superpowers, like being able to hold her breath for a really long time, becoming a champion swimmer, having amazing hearing and eyesight. But she thinks that someone is trying to kill her. Will she be able to survive? Surprise ending.

5-0 out of 5 stars The book was faboulas it was the best
The mindwarp book had a lot of cliff hangers and made me read non stop. Jack was my favorite charecter he was funny and serios at times.I read the first two books and they were good and i plan on reding the rest.

5-0 out of 5 stars MindWarp
These mind warp books are so kool. But I'm more into L.J. Smith, but Cris Archer is pretty kool. Ashely Rose seems kinda like me before when I used to wear black all the time but right now I'll wear different colors((Except pink and others like that those are disgusting colors)).Ashley so far is my fav. charector but right now i only have 1,2,3,and9. But I'm gettin 4 and 5 soon.In the first book Ethen Rogers reminds me of my brother cause my brother loves comics. And I think it's kool that Cris Archer makes it look like these are real people my age((I'm 13)).So I think that's really kool.So I can't wait till I read the rest.BYE!

3-0 out of 5 stars SHORT,But Supensefull.
I found that the book had a weak plot, but was very supensefull. It had a great way of scarring you to death, mainly because you didnt know what was going to happen next. I would recommend this book to anyone who is just starting to take interist in reading ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Neat Plot!
This is my favorite book in the series. It is about Jack Raynes, a seventh grader in Metier, Wisconsin. He has this really bad crush on this girl and when he finally gets up enough courage to go and ask her to the out to the movies he gets hit on the with a baseball bat. Afterwards he answers his teacher in perfect spanish even though he has only been taking it for two months, and was never any good at languages. But after his thirteenth birthday he can now speak any language he wants. But will Jack be able to talk his way through an assassination aimed at him?

5-0 out of 5 stars This Series Rules!
I love this book, especially the part where Jack gets termites to help him escape. Jack Raynes, Ashley Rose, Ethan Rogers, and Kate Kellison have to fight a species so powerful that one of their touches would knock you dead...

5-0 out of 5 stars Mindwarp rocks!
Alien Scream was really exiting. I've read all the Mindwarp books from 3-10 and they are the best books ever! I love the powers all the characters have and their personalities. I liked it when Jack back-chatted to the Spanish teacher- in Spanish! I am so hooked on the Mindwarp books and i wish there was more after number 10!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book
it's awesome! My favorite part is when Jack controls the terminites, and tells them to eat the rope and there's a bomb thats going to explode, and I can't tell you the rest or I'll ruin the book for you, but belive me, it's a great book!

4-0 out of 5 stars I thought it was the best book I have read this year.
My favorite part was when he won the 1,000-lbs. bar of chocolate. Because it would be cool if someone really won that much chocolate. Two things I liked were when he almost got to play the video game because I thought that it was tight. Another thing I liked was when he was covered with termites because that would probably tickle a lot. Two things I didn't like were when he kept on getting knocked out. Also I didn't like it when he got taken hostage, because that was probably really scary. ... Read more
