Book Description

Beginning readers to keep them reading...and laughing.

Minnie and Moo are cows, best friends, and the drollest duo to come along since Frog and Toad. "We could do that," says Moo to Minnie, as they watch the farmer quit work and hang his hat on a nail. "Do what?" Minnie asks. "Drive that tractor," says Moo, ever the dreamer. "I have been thinking. What hoes the farmer have that we do not?" "Hands and feet," says Minnie, ever practical. "No," says Moo. "Boots and a hat." And buoyed by that undeniable logic, the two set off on a drive that they believe takes them to the moon. Other farm animals are involved--all with hilarious consequences. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book!
I purchased this book for my library and read it regularly during my storytimes to pre-schoolers. I have also read it to the kids during the Summer Fun program. The story lends itself very well to reading aloud and is a very entertaining book for all ages. I enjoy it so much, I've decided to buy a personal copy.

5-0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS
I bought Minnie & Moo go to the Moon for my 4-year old daughter. While reading it to her, I laughed so hard I could hardly continue the book. It's a great story for children and adults alike. I liked it so much I went back and bought 5 more copies to send to family & friends to read. My office mates even bought copies for themselves. A wonderful hilarious story.

5-0 out of 5 stars Minnie and Moo Go to the Moon
My children love this book. We have checked it out from the library so many times I figured I might as well buy it. The cows are so loveable and the story even appeals to adults.

5-0 out of 5 stars Minnie and Moo, two wacky cows, go for a unique tracker ride
This uproariously funny book had every one --adults included -- laughing throughout. Minnie, always the logician, decides that all she needs to drive the farmer's tracker are his boots and hat. A skeptical Moo joins her for a tumultuous ride through the farm yard, passed a flying pig to...the moon? We loved the magic words the cows used to get the tracker started. The moonsters looked suspiciously like angry, featherless chickens. ... Read more

Book Description

Beginning readers to keep them reading...and laughing.

Once again, Moo is thinking: "I wish for a nice pair of thumbs." This simple yet far-fetched longing leads the two bovine friends amusingly to the magic of frilly dresses, hair color, eye shadow--and dancing. At the farmer's house they, in their party togs, are mistaken for Opal and Ruby, the farmer's twin sisters from California. "You gals sure know how to hoof it!" says on e of their human dance partners. But when hamburgers are served, Moo and Minnie are struck suddenly by their own connection to beef. "We could be next on the grill," says Minnie. "Run for it!" ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars a bit much
My grandchildren really enjoy the Minnie and Moo books and I bought this one for them without really looking at it. I read it myself however, before reading it to them and was greatly disappointed by the references to the hamburgers as recently deceased acquaintances of Minnie and Moo. I have been a vegetarian for 13 years but do not feel it is appropriate to explain the reasons or images of slaughtering cows to my grandchildren before they are capable of handling this information. The story could have been just as much fun without the hamburger episode.

5-0 out of 5 stars Minnie and Moo Go Dancing
This is one of the funniest children's books I have run across in over 55 years of working with young readers! In the past year, I have seen one very solemn, shy, second grader read the book aloud to her class and, miracle upon miracle, become an out-going smiling child. During the same year, I have worked with a non-reading 5th grader, whose main ambition in life has become to be able to read Minnie and Moo Go Dancing on her own. AND, we are actually getting there! Thank you Denys Cazet!

1-0 out of 5 stars One of the worst
My husband and 5 yr. old daughter all agreed this was one of the rudest and most tasteless childrens' books we've ever read. Luckily we didn't waste a nickel on it...unfortunately the library did.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the few easy reader books that's actually clever!
I got this adorable book for my kids -- but I think I like it even more than they do! It's for grades 1-3, so it's easy to read... but not simple-minded or boring like other early readers. My eight year old says, "This book is so funny! Minnie and Moo decide to go dancing, and there is a big mix-up with the cousins (humans!). I think every child should have this book -- THAT'S how funny it is. We also have "Minnie and Moo Go To The Moon" and that's just as good, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is great!
This is one of the funniest early readers I have ever seen. Now I want to go buy the other one, Minnie and Moo go to the Moon. This one is sweet, thoughtful, and has laughs for kids and parents. I loved it! (A parent) ... Read more

Minnie and Moo are the best of friends. Moo has her books. Minnie has her espresso machine. Farm life is good. Almost perfect. Until Moo overhears the not-so-good news that the farmer needs money so desperately that he must sell the farm.

No! He mustn't! Not if Minnie and Moo can help it. Not if the other animals are willing to follow our heroines on a paid tour of Moo's version of the Seven Wonders of the World. Not if that thing in the woods minds its own business.

Getting there is half the fun with this pair, and along the way (past an electrical tower they think is the Eiffel), Minnie and Moo pick up a busload of equally adventurous animal friends from nearby Africa World, careen through a car wash they believe is China, and find themselves trading stories under a night sky in what they hope is America. The power and appeal of story itself has rarely been funnier -- or sweeter -- than in this slapstick extravaganza. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Minnie and Moo Go To Paris
Yes, this is a children's book, but then again, it isn't. I dare any person who calls themselves a grown-up to read any of the "Minnie and Moo" books and not get the urge to laugh out loud. Go ahead, though, and find a kid to read it to if you're too self-conscious to laugh out loud by yourself. There are plenty of opportunities to use your scary voices, animal noises and bus-driving-through-a-carwash sounds. Oh, yeah, and kids will love it, too. ... Read more

Book Description

"Look at those stars, Minnie," Moo says, wondering. "We can't be the only intelligent life in the universe." Lolling after hours in the farmer's hot tub, Minnie and Moo hardly suspect that aliens are landing just one hill to the west. We see the mite-sized, bug-eyed enemy in alternate chapters, peering through their snooper scope, revving themselves up for an invasion. They mistake the cows for giants, their horns for newfangled weapons, the steaming hot tub for a spaceship moments from liftoff. Minnie and Moo mistake the invaders are mosquitoes, and a hilarious battle ensues -- with an earth-saving flyswatter. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Minnie and Moo - Save your money
Positively the dumbest book I have ever read to my child. He loves cows, but hates this book, and so do I. It contains jokes he cannot understand, it's illustrations are lame and the premise of the story is stupid

3-0 out of 5 stars Minnie and Moo Save the Earth just average.
After my kids and I giggled through Minnie and Moo go to the Moon, we were eager for more adventures of these hilarious cows. In Minnie and Moo Save the Earth, we were a little disappointed. In the story Minnie and Moo are lounging in the farmer's hot tub when they see a comet that appears to land on the hill nearby. It is actually an alien space craft whose passengers believe Minnie and Moo are gigantic earth inhabitants. The hilarity in the first book stemed from the cows interpretation of events. For example, the farmer they believe cannot drive the tractor without his boots and hat. Therefore, they reason if they can wear the boots and hat they too can drive the tractor (very "far side"). This book was just lacking in the same silliness. However, the illustrations were great! ... Read more

It's Thanksgiving morning and Minnie and Moo, beloved bovines of Minnie and Moo and the Musk ofZorro and Minnie and MooGo to Paris, are sipping cocoa and eating cream puffs under an oak tree."We have so much to be thankful for," says Moo, "and yet I feel a sadness in theair." Her reverie is interrupted by the appearance of Zeke and Zack, two turkeyslurking in the tall grass nearby. "Hide us," they beg. Minnie and Moo directthem (and their 36 suddenly materializing friends) up the oak tree, and thefloodgates open. It's the chickens next. "The food chain... get it? No turkey...chicken is next," says the cocky rooster. Soon the chickens are up the tree, andthen a duck, six geese, two pigs, a flock of sheep, and an ostrich. When thefarmers finally arrive for their Thanksgiving picnic (with a tofu loaf shapedlike a turkey), they discover the first-ever Thanksgiving tree, whichmysteriously produces ostrich eggs and milk on demand. By the end of the day, everyone has plenty to be thankful for, and no one on the food chain (except thetofu) has been consumed.

Denys Cazet's mischievous wit and droll watercolors are pure delight for readersyoung and old. Minnie and Moo are magnets for comical misunderstandings. Pageafter page, beginning readers will be happily pulled along on their sillyadventures. (Ages 5 to 8) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A breakthrough for vegetarians! :)
My grandchidren (4 & 5) and I are Minnie and Moo addicts. We laugh a lot when we read these books together. This Thanksgiving story is no disappointment. The idea of all these animals in the "old oak tree" is funny enough. Then, when the Farmers bring their guests to the tree for a Thanksgiving picnic we had tears in our eyes from laughing.

These books are wonderful read alouds as well as great beginning reader stories. You will want more after reading this book.It is tied with "Night of the Living Bed" in our house.

5-0 out of 5 stars I have a soft spot for cream puff addicted cows . . .
I love Minnie and Moo. Who could resist a cream puff addicted cow? Not me. Anyway, like the other books in the "Minnie and Moo" universe this is another story filled with silly fun and is quirkily different from most Thanksgiving stories. It's Thanksgiving and bovines Minnie and Moo are relaxing beneath a tree sipping away on hot cocoa and nibbling on cream puffs when thirty-six frantic turkeys beg need of their help. It's Thanksgiving and Mrs. Farmer's cousins are about for a visit. The turkeys, being turkeys, fear for their lives! Minnie and Moo hide the tribe of turkeys in the tree and settle in to finish their snack when they're accosted by a rather rude rooster and his flock of chickens who demand help. They're next in line in the food chain, you see. Before you know it Minnie and Moo have quite the zoo hidden within the tree. Happy chaos ensues as the farmer and his family decide to picnic beneath the tree.

Light, fluffy and filled with laughs this a good pick if your brain is a little drained and the kids are stressed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Minnie and Moo and the Thanksgiving Tree
This humourous and clever Thanksgiving tale leaves you chuckling about another cow mishap!!My preschool and early elementary children are valiant followers of Minnie and Moo.So when almost all the animals on the farm end up in a most unpredictable place, the kids read fast to the finish line to see how the cows will resolve the mess they cook up. It's delightful and does the trick to entrance my kids to read a good story more than once. ... Read more

Book Description

Udderly hilarious!

Minnie and Moo are back in two new tales, the latest in the series that the Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books called "the cream of the beginning-reader crop."Moo longs for the days of heroes, the days of the derring-do of good-deed doers. As Juanita del Zorro del Moo and Dolores del Zorro del Minnie, our heroes roam the farm armed with an aerosol can of Zorro musk and a barbecue skewer, attempting to rescue the downtrodden. Can they free the chickens from the oppression of the rooster? Can they free the farmer's long underwear from being hung on the clothesline? Can they mind their own business? Of course not...they're Minnie and Moo. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!
The Minnie and Moo books are some of the funniest I've ever read. I'm 48 and my daughter is 8, and I don't know who enjoys them more! We quote them all the time, and, after reading the library's copies, we're buying our own so we can always have them around to share the laughter. Thank you, Denys Cazet!

5-0 out of 5 stars We Could be Heroes--Just for One Day
This is a zany, beautifully illustrated children's book that will have most adults laughing as well.

Minnie and Moo are two cows whose main gift is the ability to give a gallon of milk each day. But Moo, wanting more, and inspired by a book of heroes called "The Musk of Zorro," persuades Minnie that they should and could be heroes. They take their cues from a misread "Zorro" book (or a version written just for cows): "Who was 'Zorro'?" Minnie asked. "A famous bull," said Moo. "...he dressed in black and scared away the bad guys with a sword...he marked their shoots with the letter Z." "I'll bet that scared then," said Minnie. [Get ready for punch line:] "That, and the smell, said Moo. The musk of Zorro put fear in their hearts."

So, armed with salvaged costumes. A sword attached to lipstick (to the notorious "Z" on the bad guys), and some deodorant substituting for the musk of Zorro, our two bovine heroines courageously and mistakenly battle a chicken (they thought it was "a fox"), and some pajamas hanging to dry ("bad guys"). While the ending is a little week, it conveys books' potential for imaginative adventure. With 48 pages, colorful illustrations, and two loveable cows featured in other Dorling Kindersley books. Recommended by DK for grades 1-3, this is a very funny book.

5-0 out of 5 stars We need more heroes like these!
After reading one too many books out in the fields, two cows allow their imaginations to get the best of them in this hysterical romp through the barnyard. Moo convinces Minnie that their farm is in need of some heroes, so the two bovines assume "exotic" names and, with the help of an old lipstick and a can of underarm deodorant, set out to save the world. Bright pencil and watercolor illustrations capture the cows as they liberate the chickens from the rooster, and save the world from the farmer's long underwear. Meanwhile they start a feud between the farmer's wife and her neighbor. The latest installment in the Minnie and Moo series is, like its predecessors, a wildly funny look at the misadventures of two overly imaginative bovines. This is a great addition to the early reader library for high-interest, low-level readers and others who will laugh out loud at the story and illustrations by award-winning author Cazet. ...
