Here's another Star Wars trilogy for you, in a boxed set. When Han Solo and Chewbacca make a great escape from the deep spice mines of Kessel in Jedi Search, the first book, they think they'll be safe at last.Wrong! They wind up someplace far scarier. Han heists a Sun Crusher ship that will come in handy later. In book 2, Dark Apprentice, Luke's promising student at the Jedi Academy, Kyp Durron, dabbles with the Dark Side, and Admiral Daala starts hitting innocent planets with her Star Destroyers. In the finale, Champions of the Force, Luke lies suspended between life and death, Kyp is torn between good and evil, and the Sun Crusher is pitted against a prototype of the Death Star. Meanwhile, Leia tries to save Anakin, her baby with Han, from certain death. But most readers will probably care more about which is tougher, the Sun Crusher or the prototype Death Star. --Tim Appelo ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great addition to the SW series!
Step 1: Ignore the previous review about how bad Keven J Anderson is.

Step 2: Read the book for yourself!

Keven J Anderson is definately one of the top star wars novelists in the market. From the creativity of "Tales of the Jedi" comic series (a definate must read) to Darksaber, This man has the star wars universe down.

1-0 out of 5 stars The worst author in the galaxy.
Kevin J. Anderson is terrible. Not just terrible, uncommonly terrible, unfathomably terrible... NUCLEAR terrible. No doubt you have noticed that many reviews of Mr. Anderson's "work" are decidedly positive. Ignore these misguided souls. It is people like these who allowed TV's Urkel to become a cultural icon. They deserve your pity, not your trust.

What makes Kevin J. Anderson so remarkably bad is not his clunky dialogue, which stumbles along like a '58 Edsel with three tires. It is not his mishandling of the Star Wars characters, his flawed plot lines or his complete and total misunderstanding of the principles of "The Force," the foundation on which the entire Star Wars universe is based. What Kevin J. Anderson does that truly marks his place as the worst author ever to pen a Star Wars novel is that his miserable choices, made relatively early in the post-Return of the Jedi timeline, negatively impact all the novels that follow. Every flimsy character he writes, every contrived storyline he creates, every stock character he unceremoniously kills off becomes a part of Star Wars history that must be dealt with by other authors. The many mistakes of Kevin J. Anderson transcend his own novels to detract from future works. No author is perfect, but Anderson creations like Kyp Duron, Darksaber and The Sun Crusher will forever diminish the Star Wars universe, not to mention stealing a few prescious hours from the lives of his readers.

So, don't get roped in by the good reviews. Don't let the fact that Kevin J. Anderson's name appears under a lot of Star Wars titles (most of which are editing projects or comics) convince you that he is a talented, or even passable novelist. And above all, don't buy his books. Don't even read them. Just pretend they don't exist... just like Jar Jar Binks. You will be a happier and healthier Star Wars fan.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Adventure
This trilogy is a good installment of Star Wars lore. I thought Exar Kun made an excellent villian without the need to use a superweapon or try to resurrect the empire(which seems to be the normal fare for most SW novels). Han and Chewie's adventures on Kessel were quite interesting, as were the moments in the Maw Installation. The interaction between the Jedi trainees was also fun to read. Anderson did well not to make them all too similar or worshipful of Luke. The subplots were good too. Especially the relationship between Furgan and Mon Mothma, and what schemes he hatches. I enjoyed the Ackbar plot as well, as he suffers through self imposed exile. The part involving Anakin, Winter, and their sanctuary on Anoth is also enjoyable.

The only problem I had with the books, was that the actual academy didn't seem to get too much attention. I really wanted to find out about Jedi history and the way they train to use the Force. I wanted to like, or hate, Admiral Daala, but I just could not get interested in her.

I recommend getting this collection so that you are able to keep going through the story without interruption, but the second an third novels spend some time (sometimes way too much time) summarizing the previous one. It is, however, a minor irritation and should not infringe too much on your enjoyment of the writings of one of the ebtter Star Wars novelists, Kevin J. Anderson

5-0 out of 5 stars All the books of Kevin J. Anderson.
For a Star Wars fanatic such as myself, this book is like the equalivent to King Tut's tomb.Reading and getting my hands on any material related to Star Wars,I found reading the Jedi Academy Series a real treat.Compared to all the other Star Wars books written by Timothy Zahn and Michael A. Stackpole, who received so much publicity,Kevin J Anderson has done what no other writer has ever done.He actually brings out the mood and feel of the story just like any good writer. The simplicity of the book's text is in no way a fallback,it is an advantage.Unlike Timothy Zahn's books which are complicated and difficult to follow for the younger generation,Kevin's books can be read by almost any age group and understood completely. This text is in no way making Timothy Zahn's books seem lousy but in the world of Star Wars writing and summarising,Kevin J. Anderson is un-parralled and I urge you to buy his books.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is one of the best I have ever read by this author
It has been awhile since I wrote a review for one of the most fasinating books that I have ever read. Kevin Anderson has a way of making the characters in his stories pop out at you. He also writes in a way that it seems that you are there right in the middle of the action. Keep up the good work, and I hope to read more of your work. ... Read more

A nice poem of playing, eating, and sleeping giant monsters on Monster Island with some truly beautiful Eggleton drawings of the classic Toho beasts for both young and old to marvel over. A great bedtime story and a personal favorite in our house. Highest recommendation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Too Cool For Words!!!!
Being adopted from Russia I wasn't familiar with Godzilla. I really enjoyed this book and since have seen the original Godzilla movie. I wish the author would write some more about Godzilla, maybe "Godzilla visits Russia" or "Godzilla was an orphan". Thanks for a great story.

4-0 out of 5 stars A must-read for fans of the Big G!
Both new and old Godzilla fans will enjoy this exciting, fast paced novel detailing the monster's return to Tokyo, forty years after his last appearance. By creating an original sequel to the 1954 film, Cerasini is able to introduce Godzilla to new readers who might only know Godzilla by reputation, without having to recap the entire movie series. Hard-core fans who might be upset that this book and its sequels ignore the events on the big screen will be pleased at how thoroughly Cerasini has captured the spirit at the heart of the Godzilla stories. While this novel and the ones that follow are written for a teen audience -- and feature young adult protagonists as a result -- adults will find them just as entertaining. If Tom Clancy featured giant monsters in his books, they still wouldn't be this good! Check it out!

3-0 out of 5 stars Godzilla 2000 Review
This book is an okay book, but definitely not one of Marc Cerasini's best. His other Godzilla books have been much better, such as Godzilla Returns and Godzilla at World's End. In this book, I thought that the main character, Kip Daniels, was not a good character to play the part of the person who is going to save the world from everyone's favorite monster. The plot was kind of thin for my liking, and seeing how good Cerasini's other Godzilla books have been, I don't think it can really compare.

However, I did like the big action sequence at the end of the book involving the other monsters from previous Godzilla books. I also liked how Godzilla was plagued with the question of whether he was a friend or a foe. And though I thought the book was alright, the whole "The world must end because it's the beginning of the new millenium" thing was a bit overdone and not too believable. Now, not to take away from those other books concerning that subject matter, but this one doesn't compare to other Y2K books such as Y2K by R.J. Pinero.

Overall, I thought this book was good, but not one of Marc Cerasini's best. I would recomend this book to hardcore Godzilla fans, but not to someone just looking for a good read. A good boook, but not a classic, that's for sure.

4-0 out of 5 stars Godzilla and Company in a Whole New Light
Marc Cerasini has written GODZILLA 2000, a story of the millennium, apocalypse and giant monsters. But this is not just a giant monster book. As Robert Price of Crypt of Cthulhu notes, Cerasini has taken these monsters and rid them of their taint of cartoonism.

This book continues the story of Godzilla who has appeared twice before (as seen in the movies Godzilla, King of the Monsters and Godzilla 1985). Some asteroids that pass through our system every 65 million years are coming around again. This time it looks like they will strike the Earth. But the asteroids are not the only threat. A Japanese research team has located Godzilla and he is awakening. Resources are now split between dealing with the asteroids and speeding up production of defenses against Godzilla.

Soon the first of the asteroids arrive and new monsters are seen to walk the Earth. A giant reptile crawls out of the Gulf of Mexico and terrorizes the Yucatan. An asteroid fragment causes insects in Kansas to mutate horribly. A researcher among the Alaskan Natives learns of a prophecy involving the Firebird. The Earth Spirit tries to contact various humans to warn that Godzilla is an ally and the Destroyer of Life is coming.

This almost reads like an DC Comics' Otherworlds tale. Imagine Rodan as the legendary Firebird or Mothra as the embodiment of the Earth Spirit. While old monsters are seen in a new light, Cerasini delivers a fast-paced tale full of action. If you enjoyed the old Japanese monster films you just might want to pick up this book and see the old monsters fresh as the day they were created.

5-0 out of 5 stars Justin's review on Godzilla 2000
In 1999 the Californian Kip Daniels, a fifteen year old, is selected to the G-Force team. That is ateam planned to train and fight Godzilla. Scientists thought he would return since he came to Japan fifty years ago. Dr. Mishra and Dr. Reyes have discovered an asteroid the size of Texas. Now the Earth is in trouble and Kip, Lori, Martin, Toby, and Pierce are still training.
Meteorite showers are crashing on the terrified Earth and plagues of mysterious monstes are unleashed. Varan is attacking Mexico and Texas, Giant Kamacuras in Kansas, And Rodan in Mount Rushmore. It was hardfor the military now. As we get closer to the year 2000it gets worse. Sooner or later Godzilla appears to trudge slowly across America. Will G-Force be successful? Is the oppinion of Godzilla really true? Is he friend or foe?
That question will be answered with one discovery. A bright golg star appears in th sky. It might of came from the asteroid explosion. Did they even explode the asteroid in time? Whatever it is, it doesn't look good. It might be the end of the world. Godzilla still trudges past Chicago. As the stargets closer, the U.S worries. Find out how this exciting book ends. Marc Cerasini wrote an intriguing book. The only qustion is, is Godzilla friend or foe?

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of the Godzilla books!
This book is simply amazing. Even though many people thought Godzilla 2000 was better, I think this is the best of the Godzilla series. Since my dad is from Peru, I loved it when Cerasini had Peru in the book and Megalon destroying Lima (I would have preferred Gigan instead). I also loved the battle sequences, such as when Anguirus fights Gigan and Godzilla fights Manda. I also liked the action parts when Godzilla fights Biollante in the Ancient Ones crystal city. The ending could have been a little better but over all this book was simply amazing. I also loved it that Cerasini shows that the U.S. is still struggling from the monsters attacks in Godzilla 2000. I belive that they should have made these Godzilla book's into movies instead of the TriStar Godzilla movie. They would have brought in more money than that each!

5-0 out of 5 stars A splendid Lovecraftian Godzilla tale!
The third entry in Marc Cerasini's Godzilla series, following "Godzilla Returns" and "Godzilla 2000", continues the tradition of excellence set down by the previous entries. With its forgotten race of ancient beings, the book strongly echoes the work of H.P. Lovecraft(particularly "At the Mountains of Madness"). Cerasini does a good job of evoking the feeling of impending dread and doom that is such an integral part of Lovecraft's fiction. The story is more of a cohesive whole this time out. However, I think that the novel would have been better if there had been less monsters in it. Once again, the characters are three-dimensional and very likable. The story moves along at a nice pace and instantly involves the reader. As good as everything else is in this story, the monsters are the real stars. It's nice to see Gigan and Megalon treated seriously. The monster scenes are thrilling and possess a cinematic quality. The best scenes are Godzilla's fight with Hedorah and Gigan's firey assault on Russia. This book is a worthy addition to Cerasini's Godzilla series. Neither the casual sci-fi reader nor the hard-core G-fan will be disappointed by it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for G lovers
I loved it. It included some great monsters like Gigan, Megalon, Hedorah, and Biollante. I do like seeing Megalon and Gigan in serious roles because the old films made them to be mindless space monsters. I recommend it to any and all.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for Godzilla fans...
This is a good sci-fi novel. It begins with mysterious activities in the Antartic, which include disappearing scientists and massive earthquakes. Before long, a host of huge monsters emerge, all of which are lesser-known critters from Toho's older movies. These include Gigan, Battra, Manda, and Hedorah, plus several others. As it turns out, they're being controled by an alien intellegence hidden under the Antartic ice. Lucky for the human race; Godzilla, Rodan, and a few other kauji are still around to help, if not intentionally. There are plenty of well-written scenes were Godzilla fights other creatures, so if you are into that, this book is right up your alley. As with the other Godzilla novels by Cerasini, one is left thinking, "Now, why hasn't someone made a Godzilla movie series based on these books?" I can still remember the day I stumbled upon this book years ago in a book store. It had just been published, and I was unaware of the series itself. I was so excited to see a serious novel about the original Godzilla that I bought it without a second thought. I have never regreted it.

Unfortunatly, Cerasini has jammed too many monsters into one book. So many new characters are introduced it's unbelievable. If he had focused on the same specific group of people from the previous novel, this book may have been a little better. Despite it's shortcomings, however, GODZILLA AT WORLD'S END does wonders for many of the campy 1970s Toho monsters that every MST fan loves to heckle.

If you like it when Godzilla dukes it out with other beasties, buy this book. If you enjoyed H.P. Lovecraft's, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, you should enjoy this novel.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great collection of Godzilla comics
I've always been a life-long Godzilla fan...making sure to catch every flick for the past 22 years, and loving every one of them. I was thrilled in the early 90's when Dark Horse comics came out with a limited run of Godzilla comics. This TPB collects the first half of those stories, starting with 1987's King of the Monsters one-shot release, an original black and white Godzilla comic that was a huge hit with G fans.

Following the story of a group of scientists called 'G-Force', Godzilla: Age of Monsters details Godzilla's initial attack in 1954, and begins years later with G-Force researching ways of incpacitating and studying Godzilla for the benefit of all mankind. The stories range from very good to utterly cheesy...the same kind of cheese and ridiculous plot twist you would expect in any Godzilla film...the megalomaniacal space-apes, for example. I wouldn't have it any other way, of course. The writing and dialogue follows the Godzilla movie formula perfectly, making for an entertaining read. The stories are mostly continuous, but some of them are independent of one another. Heck, there's even one story that may as well be called 'Predator vs. Godzilla', except instead of an 8-foot intergalactic hunter going after humans, you have an group of 80 foot intergalactic hunters going after Godzilla.

These stories are like an 'alternate universe' storyline for Godzilla. Much like every single Godzilla movie that has come out in the past decade, Godzilla's origin in this comic series is retold yet again, giving a different reason and account for his 1954 appearence, and making no mention of any movie that followed thereafter.

The art in this book is very good...Godzilla is represented faithfully as his mid 90's movie design. The enemy monsters are pretty creative, and the action is well-illustrated. But I have one, major gripe with this book. Dark Horse took the cheap way out in publishing this TPB, and printed the entire book in black and white. I distinctly remember the originals being in color, and in a book like this, the lack of color really detracts from the detail. I would assume it was meant to keep consistency, since the original King of the Monsters book was in B&W, and the subesquent 1990's comic series was color, but I was very disappointed that they produced this TPB in B&W.

Otherwise, this is just a great comic that will please any G fan. I definitely recommend this for your collection. It was a joy to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spectacular Godzilla Tale!
I don't know how many years ago I picked up this comic, but ever since I've loved it. The plot of the central storyline is actually very well thought-out, and it's not afraid to break new grounds, like creating an all-new (and slightly chilly) origin for Godzilla. But never does it stray from the Godzilla spirit. And all the new villains are very cool! All this is enhanced by the actual quality of the comics. The animation is stunningly detailed and pays tribute to the King of the Monsters. In short, if GODZILLA: AGE OF MONSTERS had been made into a movie, it would've rocked!

My only complaint (if you could even call it that) is/are the last two comics in the book. After the dramatic ending to the central storyline, they should've just left it there as it was. But no, they had to break the flow and the established feeling/atmosphere by adding on some totally random and slightly comic stories. The worst thing about this is that the book no longer has a real ending.

That little complaint aside, this is still a great buy. I'm surprised and pleased that it's still in stock at Amazon. Now I'm going to work on getting some more Godzilla books, like the comics collection GODZILLA: PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE.

I was born a Godzilla fan, and I shall die a Godzilla fan. For all those of you who can proudly say the same, pick up GODZILLA: AGE OF MONSTERS right now! In light of the crappy American remake and even Japan's trashy modern reworkings of the King of Monsters, what could be better than picking up this book and reliving childhood memories of giant monsters duking it out over the streets of Tokyo? I sure can't think of anything better.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Selection of Godzilla Comics!
I am a huge fan of Godzilla, so I loved this book. I used to read the Dark Horse Godzilla comics, but I lost most of them, so I was thrilled to read this! G-Force is the coolest team ever, I'd love to member of that group! I also liked the many new monsters in the book. Bagorah, Gekido- Jin, Cybersaur, and even Hero Zero. The fighting scenes are great, these comics would easily make great Godzilla movies!

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh man, if your a fan of Godzilla....
This comic is awesome. It's Godzilla that adults are likely to enjoy. Very well written. One of the best drawn comics I have ever laid eyes on. The creatures that Godzilla meets in this series are rad. If your kids are old enough to read, and they like the original Japanese Godzilla, this comic series will make a perfect gift for them. If only someone would make a live+CGI or an anime version of this comic and bring it to television.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good
It is a little wierd. You would understand it better if it wasn't a comic book. Some stories are really good, though. The thing I like about it is it introduces a new G-force. ... Read more

I really thought it was good, although it was only 108 pages long. This is a great book for any Godzilla fan!

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest book I've ever read!
The book was great because the way the monsters were created by the author - they were so realistic. But Godzilla is the cutest monster you would ever come accross. Just compare him to Rodan. I was surprised that other animals survived the atomic blast. That was an interesting twist to the story. It was also interesting the way Godzilla started out in life as a Godzillasaurus and then mutated into the lovable beast that he is.

This version of Godzilla is - I think - better than the actual movie GODZILLA.

4-0 out of 5 stars Another great addition to Godzilla literature
The final part of the 1990's Dark Horse comic series, 'Past, Present, Future' has Godzilla fighting the familiar intergalactic space apes of previous movies, which was an added bit of ridiculous plot twist we Godzilla fans all know and love. This book practically features 'Godzilla vs. Predator', but instead of the 8 foot intergalactic hunter going after humans, you have a group of 80 foot intergalactic hunters going after Godzila. Interesting, and very different.

The main focus of this comic is Godzilla being transported throught he past, present and future, causing disasters such as the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in Pompeii, the sinking of the Titanic, and th 1909 San Francisco Earthquake. A mad scientist, who looks like something out of a cheesy 1940's space adventure comic, is a rather ridiculous character, but like the first trade paperback in this series, the corny plot twist is a welcome and familiar aspect of Godzilla, but this was definitely the lowest point of the Godzilla storyline.

Unfortuantely, Dark Horse ended its Godzilla run before they finished it...so the final story ends poorly and abruptly, with Godzilla and G-Force about to engage in a huge fight...a fight which never comes, since the series ends. I would've liked to have seen more Godzilla comics from Dark Horse, so if they ever decide to revive it, i'll be the first one to pick it up...though I sincerely doubt it will happen.

Like the first TPB 'Age of Monsters', this book has been published completely in Black & White...most likely to save money. Its unfortuante, since the lack of color from the original comics severely detracts from the detail, making some of the art panels difficult to interpret. Otherwise, the art is good, and the stories have the classic Godzilla formula to keep them up.

As far as Dark Horse Comics goes...they have undoubtedly put out some of the worst comics ever conceived...I would dare say even probably the worst in the entire history of American literature. Luckily, Godzilla does not suffer from that...it was a good run that ended too early and abruptly. Definitely pick this one up for your collection.

1-0 out of 5 stars Godzilla and Comics do not mix.
I neither liked the Marvel Godzilla series nor these stories from Dark Horse Comics. Godzilla and time travel, please, it read like a rejected script from the Terminator films. Then again it was published by Dark Horse who always publish bad comics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Godzilla Past, Present, and Future Rocks!!
This books rocks for all Godzilla Fans. I love the drawrings and how they are so realistic. The plots for each comic are really awsome! With giant mutant crabs to a mad scientist who trasports Godzilla through time. This book is a treat to all Godzilla fans!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Comic
This third installment of the Dark Horse, Godzilla series is easily the best. The comic is well drawn and the characters are fleshed out; plus, it pays fitting homeage to the orginal Godzilla movies. In it, Godzilla encounters a variety of bizarre creatures and alien beings. He also gets moved through time by a mad scientist. Full of wild plot twists and high quality art, Godzilla: Past Present Future is likely to be enjoyed by Godzilla fans of all ages.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT!
A great collection of some of Dark Horse's Godzilla comics. In these comics, Godzilla battles the Black Hole aliens' (from "GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA" [1974] and "TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA" [1975]) mechacial-spider; some giant hunters from outer space; and runs amok through time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Godilla is cute
Even if you're not a Godzilla fan, this book is adorable. All the monsters on Monster Island like to play together, but poor Godzilla is lonesome because the smaller monsters are afraid of him. So he swims away to make new friends, but everywhere he goes, people get upset and shoot missiles at him. Poor Godzilla! The story has a happy ending, though, which is important. After all, we all want Godzilla to be happy, don't we?

5-0 out of 5 stars The best starting point for young Godzilla fans.
This is exactly how I saw Godzilla when I was young, and I still see him that way today: a misunderstood being without a kindred spirit in the world. If any child wants to take an interest in Godzilla, this is the book to start with. Not only does it depict some of the greatest monsters of the movies, like Angilas, Gigan, Rodan, and Varan, but it also contains a powerful message that is conveyed in a way that all children should understand. Plus, you and your child can enjoy the book together with its stunning illustrations by one of the greatest Godzilla artists of all time-- Bob Eggleton. A definite must-have for fans and parents. Its companion companion book, Godzilla Likes to roar, should not be passed up, either. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Its all about ANAKIN (audio Casette)
Anakin is about 14 years old here so this story is -27 BNH on the timeline. Of course, the story is all about Anakin. Where Anakin is only 12 in the Rogue Planet mission and still acts more like a child, here he is 14 and wants to exert more influence in the decision-making. Anakin makes his first friend, because they share a love of machines and ships, Tru. The story is dumbed down of course, but not bad. For reasons that are only to enhance the story, the masters leave the Padawan's behind, finding themselves cutoff. With the masters gone, the Padawan's must work together to solve problems.

Anakin learns to cooperate with a fellow Padawan Ferus (Padawan of Siri Tachi) who is well liked by his fellow Padawan's and also a good leader. The continuing curiosity in any 'Prequel' book is how Anakin becomes Darth Vader, and how Vader does kill off all the Jedi. Jude Watson does advance the character study of Anakin Skywalker.

Windu hasn't gone stupid yet, or at least Palpatine hasn't started messing with the Jedi yet. Hence, Windu sends 4 masters and their Padawan's to a system with 2 inhabited planets where a plague or virus has broken out on one. One of my theories of the fall of the Jedi is Windu's failure to adequately deal with crises. Here is an example where Windu sent significant force to deal with a crisis.

This is a book written for 9 to 12 year olds, but I enjoyed Jude Watson handling of Anakin. I am pleased that the decision was made to put this book on unabridged Audio cassettes. I have almost every Star Wars audio book ever made up to NJO Star by Star. Davis is an experienced SW reader and does a great job.

4-0 out of 5 stars Another Series Begins
Jedi Quest is yet another spin off series from the galaxy far far away. I am glad to see that Ramdoom House Audio Publishing group has decided to make this new series available in the audio format. I generally buy all the audiobooks having to do with Star Wars. This first installment in this series is quite good. Four Jedi teams including Obi Won and Aniken are sent to a planet which is being decimated by a toxic outbreak and its their job to bring calm and help with the evacuation. Aniken is tested here for he has to put is brash tactics aside and work together with the other jedi students. Of course there are inner conflicts and we see the beginnings of Aniken's desteny. I think Jude Watson has captured this aspect of Aniken right on. The story itself is quite good and has plenty of action scenes to keep the listener interested. Jonathan Davis who did a great job in narrating the novel version of Attack of the Clones reads this one as well. He manages quite nicely to give the slue of characters presented here a distinct voice. He is a nice addition to my audio library. The only minor complaint I have with this book is that there were no space battles; but the ground battles made up for it. I am looking forward to listening to Jedi Quest 2 now. In case anyone is interested there are now over 75 audio books in the Star Wars saga which encompass three different time lines. 1, the prequel years, 2, post Return of the Jedi, 3, The New Jedi Order; I have found all the books to be top notch in value and listen to them over and over again. I never rgret bying a Star Wars audio book. Its great that Amazon carries the entire line. This book contains two audio cassettes. Along with the narration, this audio book also has music and sound effects which bring the story to life. ... Read more

Book Description

Inspired by the 1954 movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters, this

middle-grade novel recounts Godzilla's first appearance and treats readers to

the story of his origins. Legends say twentieth century nuclear testing

transformed the lone surviving Godzillasaurus dinosaur into a towering

monster who can deliver an atomic blast with his breath and topple whole

buildings with his tail--which is just what he does when he rises from the

Pacific and pays his first visit to Tokyo, Japan.

5-0 out of 5 stars my fav book
I bought this book in 4th grade and i still love to read it. Godzilla gets a scorpion freind. He also gains 2 enemies, a giant spider and 2 giant praying mantises. If you like godzilla then this is the book you want to read.

3-0 out of 5 stars Godzilla, King of the Monsters retold for the young reader.
This may be a kinder, gentler Godzilla tale, one that retells segments of the first film (sans Raymond Burr) from the perspective of a group of children, but it is slow and uneven. The second book in the series - Godzilla Invades America - is somewhat of an improvement and closer in tone to the latter day kiddie matinee Godzilla films than this premiere is.There is the usual amount of city stomping, but no one is seriously hurt and a predominantly sympathetic tone for Godzilla will keep the bad dreams away.Recommended for the monster loving youngster.

4-0 out of 5 stars This book does an excellent job of portraying Godzilla.
"Godzilla Invades America" is a neatrepresantation of the Godzilla universe. This is the first Random House Godzilla novelto feature other monsters.ScottCiencin writes theKamarucas (Gimantis) and Kumonga(Spegia) monsters very closely to theirmovie incarnations. An interestingoccurence in the book has Kamaracurascarrying Kumonga as they fly away toescape their battles with Godzilla andthe giant scorpion. This is strangebecause in "Son of Godzilla", Kumongatries to paralyze and eat Kamaracuras. Another intriguing point in this bookis Godzilla making friends with thegiant scorpion. In "Godzilla King ofthe Monsters", the book, Godzilla dreamsabout himself playing with hisGodzillasuarus friends.Obviously, hestill wishes to play because after asmall battle, the two quickly becomepals. This book is worth readingbecause it has a lot of great moments init when Godzilla fights his monsterfoes.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book
I loved that book.I was so into it. I love all the monsters and ants part was so neat.

3-0 out of 5 stars "Godzilla, King of the Monsters" had some good moments.
I enjoyed reading the book, but found parts of it, especially towards the end to be a bit boring. I also found the book to be a bit childish even for kids. The book described Godzilla trampling Tokyo well and additionally described Godzilla's feelings well. The ending was very disapointing. Instead of killing Godzilla or just trying to do something to him, the people decide it is unjust, and Godzilla swims away, leaving only one conclusion, he will strike again. I think children, especially children that are Big Daddy "G" fans should enjoy this, but I don't recommend it to many adults or hardcore adults Godzilla fans because they would find the book to be very childish, with points that are unrealistic and don't add up. ... Book Description

Is it Thunder-or Footsteps?

A devastating, blinding flash lights up the sky above a Polynesian atoll. The island is no more. All that is left is a towering mushroom cloud that slowly drifts away.

The Pacific Ocean boils and churns though there is no storm in sight. A fish-processing ship goes down, leaving only a single survivor: a catatonic sailor, too terrified to speak.

Gigantic footprints plow an ominous path through the Panamanian rain forest, crossing the isthmus from west to east and disappearing into the Atlantic Ocean.

Off the North Carolina coast, a ship suddenly capsizes and is dragged under the sea.

An inexorable wave of destruction, incessant and mysterious, is heading north, toward a tiny, densely populated island called Manhattan!

In the motion picture event of thedecade, the blockbuster filmmaker Dean Devlin adn Roland Emmerich bring the biggest monster of all time to the screen: Godzilla! As the towering terror methodically dismantles Manhattan, nuclear scientist Nick Tatopolous is called in to do what the combined forces of the U.S. Army and Air Force can't

Stop him!

Nick's only hopeand New York's last chanceis to join forces with Phillipe Roache, an enigmatic insurance investigator leading a team of odd characters who are assessing the damages even as they occur. Neither team leader trusts the other, but they must bury their differences fast, before the marauding monster buries Manhattan under its own rubble. For like a genie from the bottle, Godzilla came to life with three wishes and all three are coming true: Destroy! Destroy! Destroy!

Capturing all the terror and grandeur of the spectacular film from the creators of the smash hit Independence Day, this exciting novelization straight from the screenplay brings to life the most awesome movie monster ever. Godzilla is here in all his gruesome glory. He's about to reach out and touch someone.

Pray it isn't you. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Godzilla was da Bomb!
I liked this book because it has a lot of action and you never know what will happen next.It makes you jumpy and sometimes gets scary.I really would recommend this book to someone else.(Trust me, You'll love it!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Godzilla is one of the best books i ever, ever read!
It's really interesting book. It's much better than a movie, although themovie is not bad, either. This book is going to be interesting toeverybody, who loves to read science fiction.I like this book very much.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sad, but the best
It was the best book I'v ever read.It was sort of getting boring watching movies or reading how Godzilla ruinens Tokyo.I almost cried when the F-18's fired there missiles and killed Godzilla, although it's nice to see New York be a part of Godzilla history.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, thrilling... An EXCELLENT novelization!
Now from the most anticipated movie of the year is the Godzilla Novelization!I saw the movie a couple of days ago, and then I read the book. The book is WAY better than the movie, although I must say Matthew Broderick did fantastic and the special effects were da bomb. The reasons the book is better is that it gives more in-depth description of the characters nad you can imagine yourself being there without a movie showing you where you are.It gives you a chance to play the movie in your mind.

I recommend this bookto anyone who loves sci-fi novels or movies and anyone who is bored to the max.And I would also like to point out that Stephen Molstad did a fantastic job with the novelization job directly from the screenplay. He also did the books for ID4 and the sequel/prequel to ID4, The Silent Zone, which is also a very good book.I would also point out that the final movie art is on the cover of the books now.

I also recommend reading the making of Godzilla and kids could read this book because there is a very little amount of bad words, but the words are big (as in they couldn't understand them). There is a Scholastic novelization to the movie, too for kids that is much shorter than this book. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Where's Godzilla?
After reading the first three G-novels, I had high hopes for this one. When I got into it, I couldn't put it down because of Marc's astounding battle scenes. I liked MechaGodzilla's battles. And Baragon was WAY COOL! Mecha King Ghidorah was as always wicked awesome. But the title is GODZILLA VS THE ROBOT MONSTERS, and that did not happen much. The only thing that I was dissappointed about was that Godzilla was a cameo character until the middle of the final chapter. Iwould have liked to see less military and more of Godzilla actually participating in the book. However, if you love Godzilla, you have to read this!

5-0 out of 5 stars A book that will go down in history......
This book is the best book written yet by Mr. Cerasini. Not only does it keep you interested, but also combines a mixture of fiction and real life. Godzilla and the Lost Continent (the next in the series), will be the ultimate final, because then, will we know whether or not Godzilla King of the Monsters is fully healed of the poison. I hope that Mr. Cerasini will take his time and write another incredible novel.

4-0 out of 5 stars Slightly Disappoint But A Great Book Nevertheless!
It's hard nowadays to find great novels that don't drag tons of detail or unnecessary plots in the stories. But Mr. Cerasini does an excellent job with Godzilla Vs. The Robot Monsters!!
The book is great! Never dragging and it always keeps you glued to the pages! The monster scenes are short but action packed!
The only problems I have with this book is that the monster scenes are short, the monsters don't appear that often, and Godzilla doesn't show up until the final chapter.
But all in all, it is a great novel!

4-0 out of 5 stars A fine view of Big G
An excellent treament of Godzilla. If Mr.Cerasini would keep his politics to himself, it would be a better novel. His cheap shots detract from the plot, rather than add to it.

But the characterization are suprisingly good, and the plot works well. Too bad they cancelled the last installment in the series.

:(

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Godzilla novel in this series by Marc Cerasini
One of the best Godzilla books I've ever read, this and "Godzilla 2000" are really good books. Mr. Cerasini captures everything from Godzilla's radioactive blast to the army firing their cannons and missiles at Godzilla. Godzilla is joined by Mecha King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, Baragon, Angurius, MOGUERA, and a supporting cast of characters. However there are some pretty heavy casualties, and a few things left finished. Also, the cover to the novel is awesome. ... Read more
