My lovest book
I like all the characters in this story but the dearest one is Bambi. When I was little, I asked my mom many times to read the story. Then when I grew up I read it by myself. But I liked it very much because the story is about a baby deer. It's very funny when Thumper thumped. The moment when Bambi met Faline was so touching! When Bambi and Faline were grown up it was their turn to have babies. I warmly recommend the other kids to read this sensitive book.

Great Book
This book shows anyone all aspects of things that kids can know with out knowing too much that sad things happen all the time and people are brought up to be protected from that now we must let them know

"Senseless Acts of Violence"? Please!
In response to the person who wrote the review titled, "Senseless Acts of Violence Against Deer Provoke Anger", you are crazy. Yes, there is some violence that the youngest of children should not see. However, even my 3 year old was able to grasp that bad things happen, and that we must learn to move on. The story of Bambi is a true to life story, and is not some exploiting of 'poor, innocent' animals at all. There are also lessons to be learned about 'Hunter-oriented values' - which are not necissarily evil. Some people hunt to eat, and to live. When hunting is done in the right spirit, and not simply for sport, it can be a very good thing. I was able to teach my daughter all of this, and she is better for it, because of it.

WHAT A GREAT BOOK !, MY 4 YEAROLD ATTENDED PRESCHOOL THIS YEAR AND THIS WAS ONE OF THE BOOKS IN THE ROOM, EVERYDAY WHEN I CAME TO PICK HER UP SHE WOULD BE LOOKING AT THE BOOK, NOT THINKING SHE MIGHT REALLY BEABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE BOOK I RENTED THE MOVIE, UPOND HER WATCHING THE MOVIE SHE NOW WANTED THE BOOK, I ASKED A FREIND TO LOAN ME THE BOOK FOR A FEW DAYS TO SEE IF SHE WOULD STILL WANT IT AT HOME AND NEEDLESS TO SSAY SHE DID, SHE WOULD BRING THE BOOK TO ME AND WELL WE ALL KNOW SHE COULDNT READ THE WORDS, BUT SHE DID TELL ME THE STORY AS SHE KNEW THE BOOK WHEN SHE WAS IN SCHOOL. Senseless Acts of Violence Against Deer Provoke Anger.
I was appalled at the horrific and cruel death of the mother deer in Bambi. I find it in poor taste to exploit poor, innocent, animals in this way. It is a disgrace to show these Hunter-oriented values to young children. People wonder why children think it's alright to be violent with classmates and friends. Well, I blame Walt Disney himself. It is no coincidence that all of his movies contain senseless acts of violence. It is the Disney corporation's plan to corrupt the minds of America's young people. Probably Best Lullabye compilation Ever!
I know this will sound funny, but here goes anyway....

I have four sons, ages 17, 14, 13 and 6. I first got this as a cassette when my first son was born in 1987. I started playing it as I nursed him at bedtime. It became a routine to play the tape for him each night at bedtime, alternating sides. He always settled right in to bed, wherever he was he always felt at home, comforted.

For each of the teenage boys, I did the same... thankful my cassette managed to last (prior to internet days). Now I have my six year old, and believe it or not, all three of the older boys actually sing the songs to and with him, and sometimes linger in the hallways to catch their favorite song at bedtime! They fondly remember the day when I tucked them in an pressed play.... Was it the singing night? or the music night? is a common guessing game we play. You know that this is an awesome tape when it's instrumental night and your six year old sings each and every word on cue as he drifts off to sleep!!! He even sings when he has his buddies spend the night for a sleepover - no embarassment whatsoever.

We are so thankful to the person who gave it to us so many years ago. I'm now ordering it as a CD, knowing that someday not so far off, I'll be Grandma....with the lullabye disc!

THE BEST LULLABY MUSIC
I can't even put it into words.We enjoyed this tape so much when my son was a baby!I hear the music now and it brings tears to my eyes.I would sit for hours, rocking him to this music and the songs are so beautiful.Whenever I have to buy a gift for a baby shower, I always buy this cassette because it's loved by everyone who receives it.Go out and get this tape immediately, I promise, you won't be sorry!

Wonderful!Play it again, Sam!
I'm surprised we didn't wear out this tape!My son is now 12 and we played this, together with classical music, for the first several years of his life!Very sweet - easy to sing along with, catchy tunes.I really missed it when we misplaced it - and just bought another for his Christmas stocking!BTW - he now has a very good ear for music.

My kids are now in their teens and still like this collection of songs. I buy it for every new mother I know and they just love it as we do. It's a must have!! It is just so beautiful

The perfect lullaby tape.
I bought this tape and booklet in 1998 when I had my first child. I am purchasing another now for my second child, because we played the other one so many times we wore it out.All of the songs are very soothing and easy to listen to.I love to listen to the instrumental side and sing to my babies too.This is one of the best children's tape we own. ... A terrible learning tool
The adult singers on this CD are not native speakers of French, and have very heavy American accents. As noted in other reviews, the songs aren't translated literally - in the case of "twinkle twinkle little star," the English translation bears very little resemblance to what the French says. The children singers are very difficult to hear; I think they're native speakers, but the non-native adults sing loudly over them so your child doesn't get any benefit from them.

If you wan to learn bad French, this is the CD for you.

Ok to listen to but not a very good french tutorial.
Some of the songs are useful, but most do not translate literally which could be a problem if you are trying to learn French. (for example in France apparently you come from Alabama with banjo under your arm). Another song is completely different wording, just sung to the same tune as Twinkle twinkle little star. The book that comes with the tape does tell you that is is different but has no literal translation.

My thought was to play the tape during long car trips with my kids (6 and 3). They don't complain but most of the songs are hard to understand, Especially the songs sung by children. They most certainly haven't learned much French as a result of listening to the tape. A couple of the songs are fun/catchy, one in particular is stuck in my head and I wish it would go away, but all in all I was disappointed.

As timeless and vibrant as Mother Goose herself!
I strongly urge you to buy this tape! My children have listened to it literally hundreds of times, and each time is a joyful occasion. Neither they nor I have grown tired of it. The songs are played on medieval instruments and the instrumentation is so unique and fun! The upbeat ones such as "Jack and Jill" and "Hey Diddle Diddle" make you want to get up and dance, while the ballads ("Lavender Blue", "Mary Mary Quite Contrary") are hauntingly beautiful. I have searched in vain for a second volume by the Hubbards, but alas, this is the only recording by them I have found. I can't recommend this recording highly enough! ... Read more
