5-0 out of 5 stars Funny, Sweet and Original
The beautiful illustrations are what orginally caught my eye while browsing at a bookshop. But after reading this short and clever book, I was hooked. It is funny and sweet and very original...almost poetic!

My five year old god-daughter visited me and fell in love with this book and wanted me to read it to her over and over. It's a wonderful bedtime read and I'd recommend all four books..."The Rainy Day" is great, but "Moss" is the best. Don't hesitate to buy the series...they are a delight and very fun to read aloud.

5-0 out of 5 stars Captivating, bright and carefree!
Roslyn Schwartz has created a colorful summertime world full of lush illustrations and happy adventurings of two carefree moles. The text is simple but original. The fanciful plot is charming, amusing, and uplifting. Reads quickly, but packs a satisfying story into its few pages. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Boomba!
I picked this book up because I love penguins and enjoy reading children's literature. I found the story to be quite engaging. The book is filled with bright illustrations that enliven the normally drab colors usually associated with polar bears and penguins. The story is about two brother penguins. The older brother is 5 and is named Flip and the younger brother is 2 and is named Flop. They enjoy playing games and having fun together and they love each other very much. However, sometimes Flip finds Flop annoying and wants to do his own thing. The story is somewhat sad at this point, but soon turns around as Flop meets a new friend and is eventually reconciled with his brother. This would be a great story to read together to siblings. It made me think of all the times I spent playing with my youngest brother. A good story.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect book to make a 2 yr old smile!! BOOMBA
We came across this book by accident but haven't put it down since. It is just perfect. The pictures are adorable, the colors are bright but even moreso it's the story that we love. It doesn't have anything scary like so many kids books, esp fairy tales. It doesn't tell some long lesson that goes over the childs head. It just tells the story about 2 little penguins who are brothers, 2 and 5, and the silly games they play and how sometimes the older brother wants to play with his own friend instead. But it's ok because the little penguin finds a new friend his own age. And in the end they all play together. Usually when I read children stories to my little guy, I change a lot of the words to make them engaging to him but this book was exactly right, and I didn't need to change a thing. ... Read more

Sunny, a good-natured golden lab, is in for a life-altering experience in this warm and friendly domestic adventure. Because she gets lonely when her owners are away at work all day, it's decided that it's time to adopt a new puppy for Sunny to play with. When the perfect pup is found (a very active chocolate brown little rascal they name Cloudy), Sunny is not initially excited about sharing her food, her toys, or the attention of her "Mommy and Daddy". But over time, Sunny realizes that it can be fun to have a little sister and that she can have even more fun by taking an active role in Cloudy's care. Certainly, the "let's learn about a new sibling" genre is nothing new in children's books but the all-canine approach here makes the notion fresh. Although the two kid figures are both dogs, that universality might actually make it easier for kids to relate to the situation; instead of noticing differences between themselves and the human kids in the book, they can forget about that and learn from the story. It's impossible not to be charmed by Kent Hammerstrom's illustrations, which look so lovingly hand drawn and colored that they seem to have leaped off a sketchpad. The book is published by an enterprise called "Sunny & The Chocolate Dog, LLC". It's a homemade affair and that has its pluses and minuses. Many editors would have loved to jump into this text with a big red pen and take out huge chunks that appear overwritten and redundant. And in many ways, that would have been an improvement. But the narrative, lengthy for a picture book, also has plenty of room to roam and the result feels not unlike a long and entertainingly warm letter from a dear friend about the lives of her beloved pets. 5-0 out of 5 stars It takes time for the two canines to get to know one another
Sunny Meets Her Baby Sister is a picture book in Susie Neimark's "Sunny & the Chocolate Dog" series. Sunny is a frisky yellow Labrador who has to adjust to the antics of a playful puppy that her loving parents choose to be her new sibling. It takes time for the two canines to get to know one another, yet the rewards of forging a relationship are beyond measure in this charming story which is enhanced with Kent Hammerstrom's cheerful illustrations. Also very highly recommended is the Neimark and Hammerstrom companion title: Sunny & The Chocolate Dog Go To The Beach...

5-0 out of 5 stars The Adventures of Sunny & The Chocolate Dog: Sunny Meets Her
I thought the book was excellent. I can see how this book can be used to educate children on dogs or any animal in the house and also provide a lesson to the reader to pass to a child. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and will now read the others. I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Full of Love and Understanding
I am so impressed with the care and understanding that the author put into this book. Just about everyone I know can relate to the subject matter (especially the part pertaining to sharing). I am always looking for books for my grandchildren and I couldn't have made a better selection. The large print is a plus and encourages an older sibling to read to their younger brother or sister.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Story for the Whole Family
It's nice to have a book that spans a wide range of age groups. I have a three year old and an eight year old, and they are both in love with Sunny and the Chocolate Dog. They relate to the stories on different levels with my eldest a little more in tune with the emotional nuances, while my little one loves the pictures and the basic plot line. It is a rare treat to be able to read to both of my kids at once and have their complete attention.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sunny & Chocolate are a big hit

5-0 out of 5 stars Hmm...Does every heroine need to run away at least once?
When school break comes, Mandie usually can't wait to go home. But this time she has mixed feelings. Her mother had the baby while Mandie had been gone to Washington, and Mandie isn't sure about the baby. But it's worse that she supposed. All the baby does is holler all the time, and he's getting on her nerves. Plus, Mandie's mother is so wrapped up in the baby; she has no time for her.
Finally, Mandie can't stand it. She takes off to her relative's house, hoping that they'll keep her for the summer. Will they let her? Find out in this wonderful book!

Mandie has been an only child for a long time, and when the new baby comes there is the typical sibling jealously. I think it was nice of Lois Gladys Leppard to give Mandie problems that happen today, and not just far-fetched ones.
The book turns out surprisingly well, considering all the trouble Mandie got herself into. And get this: this is the 13th book in the series, and Mandie runs away just before her 13th birthday. Talk about bad luck!
But this is an excellent book and it is a must-read.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Awesome Story!
This book is so great because I just love Mandie and I have every Mandie book. My reccomedation is: Read it!

5-0 out of 5 stars MANDIE IS THE BEST...
Okay mandie is totally cool I always have too get the new book in our school library before anyone does i have all her books and waiting for anothing exciting mystery can't wait too see what the next one is about....

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Mandie Book!
This was one of the best Mandie books. I liked it. It made Mandie seem human. Sometimes she seems perfect, and sometimes she seems babyish. In this book, Mandie's little brother has just been born and she is jealous of him. She thinks he cries too much, and he takes too much of her Mother's time (attention). Mandie runs away to live with her Cherokee kinpeople, thinking it will solve her problems. It doesn't, of course. They won't let her stay. She learns a valuble lesson, and learns to love her little brother. This seems babyish, but you learn a good lesson about jealousy. I like this book very much and at the end Mandie gets to name her little brother! What she names him, I won't tell!...

5-0 out of 5 stars Mandie is really getting annoyed now!
Mandie is sick and tired of her new baby brother. He cries all the time and she feels like no one loves her any more. She ends running away, but in the end learns her lesson. All the Mandie books are very good. I'm 14 but that does not stop me from reading them. Lois, please keep writing them and never stop, even if you have to write about Mandie's daughter or even her grandmother as a little girl. ... Read more

What a delightful read! The illustrations are beautiful.
I love the winter scenes! Mother will be home soon with a

What little treasures! They try so hard to prepare a proper

work together, inspiring me and my own children as they
make a dinner no mother could resist! Oh to see the grandmother
and grandfather eating dinner with the whole family! It is

3-0 out of 5 stars Peter's nameless sister
This is the worst book in the Snappy series, but it is still cute. Peter Penguin is jealous of his new sister, who never gets a name in this book. He goes running away and gets lost. He loves to chat to himeself and his baby sister chats back and finds him. Then he returns home and they chitter chatter all day long together. Simple story, cute drawings. The problem i have with it is the baby sister does not get a name. My 9-month-old does like to chew on Peter's round black head though. Not a bad book, but other's in this series are a lot better like Penny Polar bear, Lucy Lobster and Tiny Tyanasourous. ... Read more
