5-0 out of 5 stars A delightful, funny book
This is one of the most delightful children's books ever. I listened to my mom (Ann)read the Paddington books to my younger brother and was hooked. When I was younger, I remember my mom telling me about the bear on tv who liked marmalade but was never interested in him until I heard the stories. The stories often ended in tears- we would laugh so much. Well, I guess this is less of a review than it is a recommendation. With all of the worthless children's literature out there, this one stands out.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is great!
I really liked this book because of adventurouslittle Paddington. I liked when they picked him up at Paddington station.

5-0 out of 5 stars I laughed so hard I couldn't breath
I was introduced to Paddington as a young age, and I voraciously read every book I could find. The situations Paddington got himself into were so hysterically funny that I would have to put the book down even the third orfourth time I read them. I am eager to see if the magic is still therereading them as an adult.

5-0 out of 5 stars A SWEET, AND FUNNY BEAR YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH INSTANTLY
This sweet bear will capture the hearts of children of all ages.As a Pattington Bear/Book collecter, my entire house reflects his peaceful nature.Pattington, a bear discovered at Pattington Railway Station by Mr.and Mrs. Brown, lives in a imaginative world. Many Pattington vidoes areon the market. They include the bear himself and the Brown's children. Let Pattington Bear steal your heart today!

5-0 out of 5 stars Paddington...
He is so clumsy, that anyone will laugh. I read all of the Paddington books I could find as a kid, and I read them again as I got older. And I would read them again, and again and again. This is a very good reason tohave kids, so you can buy this book. Too bad he has become some sort ofcommercial bear, he is much greater as a little clumsy bear trying toplease all the people. ... Book Description

Forty years ago, a small bear from Darkest Peru set out on the adventure of a lifetime. Carrying a battered suitcase containing several jars of marmalade, and wearing a tag around his neck that read Please Look after This Bear, he stowed away on a ship and landed in Londons Paddington Station. As luck would have it, the Brown family found him, named him Paddington, and welcomed him to their home and into the hearts of millions of readers.Since 1958, Paddington Bear has charmed readers worldwide with his humorous misadventures. In celebration of Paddingtons 40th birthday, Michael Bonds original story of Paddington Bear has been beautifully reillustrated by artist R.W. Alley.

5-0 out of 5 stars Introduce little ones to Paddington
I loved the "real" Paddington stories as a young girl. When I saw these versions for younger kids at the library, I checked some out to see if my daughter would enjoy them. She loves them! The longer, original stories are much too complex for her (she's 2). But these introduce the characters and are filled with the same humor and warmth of the original stories. The illustrations are wonderful and bring my beloved Paddington to life. We love these books and have now purchased some for our collection!

4-0 out of 5 stars Cute for its age group!
It may seem like a "dumbed-down picture book" version of the original story --- because it's meant for a YOUNGER READER!! The age group for this book is clearly stated as AGES 4-8, while the original is for AGES 9-12. This is a wonderful book with delightful illustrations for the 4-8 year old. It's just the right length for parents to read to the kids (without falling asleep) and for beginning readers to read it themselves.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not the real thing...
This is a dumbed-down picture book version of Paddington that sacrifices most of the charm of the original stories. This is one of the few childrens' book purchases I've ever regretted. Buy A Bear Called Paddington instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars charming and entertaining, a delight for any child
As a child I fell in love with Paddington bear, who spoke to me more than Winnie ever could, although many have drawn simmilarities between the two. Both are fumbling, innocent little things, orphaned and adopted by human families. Winnie couldn't keep his sticky little paws out of the honey jar, and Paddingtons fondness for marmalade could be called obsessive... However for all these simmilarites the one difference is that while child-like pooh looked to Mr Robin for guidance, it was the wee bear in galoshas and a rain hat, found at the Paddington railway station, whose simplistic outlook on life saved his adoptive family from complete destruction of sanity in the day-to-day madness of the world. Paddington was a saviour in childhood, and is bound to be an absolute delight for any child who learns of his misadventures, his love of marmalade and his earnest love of his newly adopted family and newly adopted life in city. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A "must" for all Paddington Bear fans and young readers.
Parents will want to use this as read-aloud material: it provides a thick treasury of Paddington Bear stories, accompanied by Peggy Fortnum's line drawings watercolored by her step-granddaughter. Paddington Bear is always in trouble, and this provides an excellent, whimsical set of adventures for newcomers and prior Paddington fans in a fine keepsake edition.

5-0 out of 5 stars Please look after this bear
Paddington, a small bear from "darkest Peru," definitely needs looking after as he always finds himself in one sticky situation after another. I discovered P. only a few years ago. I had MEANT to read the P. books for YEARS, but somehow hadn't gotten around to it. After I finally read A Bear Called Paddington, frequently laughing out loud at Paddingtons' "situations," I immediately found the next three books, then the next three...

I am delighted that the Paddington books have now been bound in one volume and am equally delighted to be adding this to my collection. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Let's Have Lots More Paddington!
As a librarian, I have a fondness for, indeed a fascination for, good children's literature. I've loved Paddington since childhood, and am pleased to see new Paddington stories out. Hopefully, there'll be some more full-length books as well. It is funny that Michael Bond once said that he'd never go into Paddington's past in a book--yet he does here. No matter--this book is a treat for the Paddington fan who's followed all the old books, finally explaining how Paddington was orphaned, how he came to live with his aunt, even his original name in Peru. There are all sorts of little touches of this lovable, well-meaning, and very polite little bear's personality throughout ("Suppose I hadn't gone to Paddington Station? I might have been named 'Mornington Cross'!") R. W. Alley's illustrations are charming, capturing our little friend's personality and charm. (Everyone in the bookstore thought I was crazy...they kept hearing "Awww..." every time I turned the page.) And it's good to see Paddington's spelling has improved so much! All in all, a treat for the lifelong fan and the newcomer. Now, when are we going to see Paddington on the big screen? ... Read more

Book Description

There"s been no end to the chaos at 32 Windsor Gardens since Paddington, that irresistible bear from Darkest Peru, joined the Brown family. Even Mrs. Bird, the housekeeper, has learned that there"s no knowing what"s likely to happen when he"s around. Well meaning as ever, Paddington"s at it again, and this time he really goes to town.
If a boulder rolls down the aisle of a bus, sending the entire carload careening; if a visitor to the hospital leaves even the staff psychiatrist baffled; or if a hostess discovers her surprise dessert is "baked elastic," you can be sure that Paddington is somewhere close at hand.
Paddington fans will be delighted as, once more, that bear turns things merrily, unpredictably topsy-turvy in this revised edition of Paddington Goes to Town.
