Book Description

Will Lisa leave Virginia for sunny California? She's been there for most of the summer and she likes it. There's a lot less pressure on her, and she's working on a TV show loaded with good-looking guys, romance, and horses. What more could she want? Maybe she should stay....

Her boyfriend, Alex, worries that Lisa is spending too much time with a handsome movie star. Some girls might fall in love with someone like that, but Lisa wouldn't. Or would she? If only Alex could be sure. Carole and Stevie are Lisa's best friends and they want the best for her, but they don't want her to move away either. 5-0 out of 5 stars I haven't read this book, but I've read the others ...
Like I said, I haven't read this book, so I gave it 5 stars, but I have read the other 2 books and enjoyed them, allthough i wish they would talk about the girls taking lessons, and doing things other than trail rides for a change. I am 12 and still a faithful reader of "The Saddle Club" but i like this more mature attitude of Pine Hollow. I am going to buy this book soon, so i hope it is good!!! Keep up the good work, Bonnie!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars DIFFERENT, BUT NOT ALL BAD
I thought that the other books by Bonnie Bryant where much better then these Pine Hallow books. There are many things that I know are wrong and not true facts about horses when reading these books. But the problem was there where no horses in this book. Also, I thought that Emily has always been a long time member. I think that this book was too up-tight and not real. Tho whole part of Lisa in Cal. has nothing to do with anything. The Saddle Club books where different stories everytime. This is just one big long story. Make a movie, skip the book. We should read different storys everytime. Not the same story over and over with a new twist. I thought that it was a good book, but this is just the things I thought where bad.

4-0 out of 5 stars WOW!
This book was soooo good.I was worried that Lisa wouldn't come home but she did and she would never disappoint Alex even if she wanted to stay and was all around guy TV stars that were cute.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great book.
This is a great book. It will have you reading it until you are finished. The only problem is basically what separates Pine Hollow books from Bonnie Bryant's other books. The other books(The Saddle Club and Pony Tails) focus on horses, whereas the Pine Hollow books include school, driving, boyfriends, vacations, et cetera. This brings the amount of time for horses down a bit more than necessary. It would recieve a 5 if it had more horses in it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
This was a great book. I just recently got into the Pine Hollow series after 6 years of readign the Saddle Club. I love the series already. They keep getting better and better. In this book, Carole and Stevie visit Lisa, her father, stepmother and stepsister in Califronia. Carole falls in love with a movie star. But is he really what he seems? Stevie is trying to uncover a secret that a young actress that seems so depressed over...Carole is trying to have fun but keeps worrying about earthquakes and Stevie is still brooding over the accident that nearly claimed Callie's life. Back home, Alex is wondering if Lisa has fallen in love with a movie star. I loved this book and I would reccomend it for anyone ages 12 and up. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good book
Its a good book. I hope Lisa gets back together with Alex Lake and not with Scott. It's good that she's not moving away. I'm dlad that Callie's lover is moving away but what will happen to "Joyride". I hope they make more books well more than 17.

4-0 out of 5 stars Setting the Pace
Experiencing teenage anguish is something most people can identify with - or at least remember. In the newest book in the Pine Hollow series by Bonnie Bryant, titled Setting the Pace, four best friends, Lisa, Carole, Stevie and Callie, struggle through slightly cliche but very engaging problems. Lisa faces moving halfway through her senior year; Carole has a boyfriend pressuring her to go farther physically then she wants; Stevie is training for a horse race; and Callie is haunted by a stalker. All these problems weave around their daily life struggles at school, home and at the stable they all ride at. By weaving many plots together, Bryant effectively holds a reader's interest throughout the entire novel. Any person struggling with ther own problems can take a step away into the happily-ever-after complicated lives of the friends, and walk away with a brighter moral and encouraging perspective.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pine Hollow Setting the Pace
I Luved this book!!!!!!! It was great. I'm so glad that Lisa's mom decided not to go through with the move. I'm concerned with Cam and Carole's breakup. Now what's going to happen? As for the George thing I think he should just get a life, he is so close to stalking Callie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book Yet!
I loved this book! It cleared up lots of the questions at the end of the last book. For instance, Lisa's mom's decision on moving-whew! That had me worried for a little while! The rest of the book was a little more predictable. I could tell from book 13 that the Cam-Carole thing wouldn't last. And I, for one, am glad. What a jerk! I definitely want to see more of Ben. I'm dying to find out more about him(and Zani)-I hope we find out more in the next book. The George situation wasn't too surprising either. He's always given me the creeps-it's not hard too imagine him turning into a stalker. Also, what has happened to Kate, Christine, John, and Skye? I'd like to find out more about what happened to them. Despite it's predictability I loved this book and I can't wait for #16!

4-0 out of 5 stars These new and old series are terrific!
Way to go, Bonnie Bryant! I am writing this with my two friends, Michelle and Stacey. We all love the Saddle Club, and now Pine Hollow! We all ride together near Toronto, Ontario. I think you should bring back the horse-stuff into Pine Hollow, but that doesn't mean I don't like how they are growing up. Please!!!! Tell us what's happening with A.J.! Don't forget the horses, or Ben Marlow. One thing though, could you please have Stevie and Lisa being involed at the stable, cause it's not just Carole who is horse-crazy! We're from Canada, so it'd be really cool if Carole , Stevie, Lisa (and maybe Alex) could take a trip and come 'up here'. Anyways, thanks for writing, we love it! And viewers, if you want to send in your opinion, be nice! Keep writing B.B., cause we'll keep buying! Krysta, Michelle, and Stacey. (Lisa, Carole, and Stevie)

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellence!
This is a wonderful series that really deals truthfully about the trials and tribulations of life as a teenager. I praise Bonnie Bryant for really hitting the mark! Though this series does not contain many horse stories or youthfully mischevious adventures, it shows how the main characters deal with not having the necessary time to see and care for their horses. As for the mischevious adventures, they all have grown up, which means that they have become more responsible, and realistic about choices, decisions and relationships. I have read the Saddle Club series, and the story-lines were much less complicated, and often almost unrealistic. Pine Hollow is a wonderful interpretation and portrayal of adolesence!

4-0 out of 5 stars Another great Pine Hollow
Hi Cpaw returns to tell anyone who reads this about Pine Hollow #5. Quite a bit happens in this book. Callie is nervous about her freind Sheila from back home comming to visit, because they had a very competitive relationship when they were younger. Stevie desides to help Callie out and advises her to open up to Sheila, but when she does Sheila writes a tell-all article for national paper. Lisa is going crazy with worry about Max not letting anyone ride Prancer, but then she finds out the mare is pregnant with twins. I was surprised and relived when I read about this, I was glad she didn't have some horrible disease, but later I learnt Prancer died! I havn't read the book yet but I know it'll be great. Carole has cheated on a test to stop her grades falling below a C to keep her riding privliges, and is feeling very guilty. AJ is still acting really weired and Stevie and Phil have to find out why. Also Carole and Lisa have had a fight over Prancer and Carole is getting obsessed with Samson. I reccomend this book to all horse-loving teens, and the whole PH series. I was so pleased when they came out, its such a great series, like a Home and Away on Horseback. (Home and Away is an aussie soap, check it out sometime) anyway, more reviews soon, watch Animorphs, Thoroughbred and any animal story. BYE BYE BYE (Nsync! hehe!)

3-0 out of 5 stars Conformation faults
This book was quite good- ties up some loose ends. However as the book progresses I started to hate Carole more and more. She would have to be the most annoying character. Also I think that information from saddle club books should be the same in Pine Hollow. An example is the problem with prancer- we were told that this would never happen.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Book That was a Little too much Like a Soap-Opera
I thought that the story line was great, but the actual story was a bit sketchy.I first stasrted reading Pine Hollow books when I learned that it involved the Saddle Club's main characters.(Stevie,Lisa, and Carole)Ben seemed like a nice guy and he seems a little shy.Carole is way too obsessed with Samson, the horse, and only Ben seems to notice. When he tries to bring to her suposedly best friends' attention they ignore him and treat him like dirt.I couldn't get over how Stevie talked about if he weren't so weird he'd be happier.Give me a break!

I really liked Callie's character although her brother,Scott, had the better judgement. Her refusal to give up was the best quality.

All in all the book was pretty good.Bonnie Bryant is and always will be a great author, but the characters are way too shallow, selfish, and uncaring.Lisa is the main example. ... Read more

Book Description

Who knew relationships could be
so tough?

Stevie Lake, ace reporter! She's joined the Fenton Hall school paper and she's ready to go undercover and break big stories, but her editor has other ideas. Stevie's first assignment is to cover the junior class on marriage. It's not her idea of a hard-hitting investigative piece--especially since her own "marriage" is headed for divorce court faster than you can say "cavalletti." However, Callie Forester and her "husband" are having a blast planning for the future. In fact, as far as someone is concerned, they're having too much fun.
Meanwhile, Carole Hanson is still trying to figure out what the future holds for her and Ben, while Lisa Atwood just wonders whether she and Alex have a future.

5-0 out of 5 stars A reader from Berlin, Gemany
I think Pine Hollow is a great serie and also this book. But i've got a question: I don't understand why the characters in the English version are having different names from the German version. In German Lisa is called Julia and Stevie is called Jenny. This are also English names, aren't they?

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME
This book was really good. I suggest it to anyone even if they are not horse-crazy. I'm not going to give anything away but its a "must read!" i personaly think Lisa and Alex should stay together. Oh well cant wait to the next-- "High Stakes" i think. Enjoyyyyy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Something else!!
This was a great book!!i think it is so great that stevie got the assignment on the marraige thing!! the only thing that could have been different was that i think Callie should have a boyfriend -since they say she is so Hot!- and the guy she was paired up with was realy perfect!!To change the subject,i think that George is totaly gross and the perfect NERD!!But i wish that Callie would just tell him off once and for all!!To put it in a nutshell I think bonnie is a real good writer and should keep it up!! ((((and i think Lisa should go out with Scott))))

5-0 out of 5 stars kool
i luved this book. it was really the best. i cant belive stevie t6hought that kid liked her though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pine Hollow
BACK IN THE SADDLE IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST PINE HOLLOW BOOKS I HAVE READ. THINGS BACK AT CAROLE'S HOME ARE BACK TO NORMAL. OF COURSE SHE CAN'T GO TO THE STABLE OR CHAT WITH HER FRIENDS WHEN SHE WANTS, BUT THAT IS ABOUT TO CHANGE. CAROLE SCORED EXTREMELY HIGH ON THE PSAT'S AND HER FATHER RELENTED AND LET HER GO TO PINE HOLLOW FOR FOUR DAYS A WEEK! ALTHOUGH SHE'S NOT ALLOWED TO WORK, FOUR DAYS A WEEK IS BETTER THAN NOTHING. MEANWHILE, LISA'S HAVING A LITTLE BIT OF TROUBLE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LOVE AND ROMANCE. EVER SINCE SHE GOT BACK FROM GOOD OLD CALIFORNIA SHE HASN'T FELT THE SAME WAY TOWARDS ALEX LIKE SHE USED TO. ALEX FEELS THE SAME WAY, SO THEY DECIDE TO TAKE A BREAK FROM EACH OTHER AND DATE OTHER PEOPLE, AND THEN THEY WILL MEET ON NEW YEARS AND TALK. NOW ABOUT STEVIE. STEVIE'S GETTING MARRIED! BUT NOT TO PHIL. FENTON HALL HAS A KNEW TRADITION GETTING MARRIED FOR AWHILE TO SEE HOW THEY CAN MANAGE. I WON'T RUIN THIS PART, BUT I GOT TO SAY IT IS HILARIOUS! STEVIE IS ALSO JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS, AS USUAL. SHE THINKS THAT SCOTT FORESTER IS IN LOVE WITH HER, AND THAT'S WHY HE'S HANGING AROUN PINE HOLLOW SO OFTEN. THIS BOOK IS AN AWESOME BOOK. I WON'T RUIN THE ENDING FOR YOU, BUT I RECCOMMEND THIS BOOK HIGHLY. ... Read more
