Book Description

Pokmon fans can bring their favorite creatures to life with this colorful origami kit. Preprinted paper and instructions direct readers in creating three-dimensional figures of Ash Ketchum, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Eevee, Zubat, and other favorite Pokmon, as well as readers' own characters. The Pokmon phenomenon is based on the Nintendo Game Boy adventure, which sets players on a quest to collect all 150 Pokmon creatures - an eclectic assortment of animal, vegetable, mineral, and out-of-this- world characters. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good introduction to origami
This book has pokemon characters printed on, usually two, with a slightly different look usually with the eyes. You tear out the paper, cut and fold it. The paper is not quite square the the picture is not exact. A lot adjusting to fit the colours is required. There is a lot of cutting involved but the folding is very simple. The final shape is very simple too and not easily recognisable if there is no picture of the pokemon on it. The picture can be just a face or full and need mounting on a flat surface for it to look good since generally it cannot stand. Recommended as an introduction to origami for children who likes pokemons.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Origami
Pokemon Origami is great. Now I can instead of drawing pokemon I can create pokemon out of origami

5-0 out of 5 stars NICE BOOK, FEW POKéMON.
THE BOOK WAS NICE AND ALL BUT IT SAID IT HAD FIGURES OF BULBASAUR, ASH, EVEE AND IT DOESN'T I THINK I SHOULD HAVE GIVEN IT 4 STARS BUT THEN I REMEMBERED HEY IT'S POKEMON!

3-0 out of 5 stars Paper with printed characters folds almost into Pokemon
This book has about 30 or so pages with pokemon characters printed on. Most of the characters are duplicated twice (for example, Meowth with his eyes open on one page and shut on another). You tear out the pages and fold them into shapes that don't look too much like the pokemon, but are kind of close. The printed characters aren't quite centered, so you have the option of either making your character lopsided, or having the picture not line up to the folds. Having said all that, my 6-year old son likes the finished characters. I was looking for more realistic pokemon shapes though. If they hadn't pre-printed the characters on the pages, you wouldn't recognize the pokemon character.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Book Is OK.
It is very confusing, but very cool. Even though the Pokemon don't look like what they are in the show, it is a good book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Just Not Enough!
This is an ok book if you are just speeding through the game very quickly. But it wouldn't help much if you want to capture pokemon or breed them or whatever. It would have been better if it includes a pokedex on the back with stats and evolution. But overall it's okay. It has really nice maps of different towns and cities and caves, etc. It also shows you all the items that can be found in different areas and also pokemon that will appear in the morning, day and nighttime. It kind of show you a little pokedex of one or two pokemon that is new. There are also charts on the trainers that you will be battling and their pokemon as well. Also the book shows you the different gym leaders and their pokemon with all their moves and also which types of pokemon will take effect. On the back, there is a sealed section that tells you more secret on capturing rarer pokemon and other stuff. It also shows you different types of balls and which seeds it is made from. The only bad thing is that it doesn't tell you where to go next, like what you do after this or that, they just show you the whole city on the same page. This would be a lot better if it's more detailed with the pokedex so you will know when the pokemon will evolve and other stuff.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad guide but - no Pokedex?
I have mixed feelings about this Strategy Guide, which I bought as a companion book to Pokemon Gold on the Game Boy. Generally, I think it`s well written and easy to understand, with superb maps which clearly tell you where items are and how to get around in the different cities (which I found really useful, as I`m not very good at navigation in RPGs). It also tells you about the different Gym Leaders and the Elite Four, and what the best Pokemon to use against them are. There is a section on how to breed Pokemon too, plus charts telling you what Pokemon are found in certain areas during the morning, daytime and nighttime and the stages of evolution for a few new Pokemon.

Unfortunately, this book doesn`t really go into detail about where different Pokemon can be found and how to complete your Pokedex. It seems this book was intended just as a walkthrough to help you complete the game quickly, which kind of spoils your fun. If you want help with filling up your Pokedex properly, you have to buy another Prima book, which is advertised in the back.

Overall I`d recommend this book if you`re a novice at the Pokemon games, because the maps and walkthroughs are very good. But sadly, the lack of a proper Pokedex stops the book from being excellent.

4-0 out of 5 stars A book deserving 4.25 stars
I think this is a great book. What this book contains:
A sealed section (w/ MAIJOR SPOILERS)
A thorough walkthrough.
Answers to the game's hard puzzles.
Maps of every city, route, ect.
SOME of the new pokemons' evolutions, moves, ect.
Items in the game and their purposes.
EVERY SINGLE move in the game, all of the TMs & HMs & their locations.
Help on catching Suicune, Raiku, & Entei
Trainers, their Pokemon & levels, ect.
Details on Mystery Gift.
AND MUCH MORE!

What this book DOESN'T have:
A complete Pokedex
Not TOO MANY spoilers
And all of the unnessisary details

1-0 out of 5 stars Learn about a game before writing a book
Maybe authors should learn about a game before writing a strategy guide, that would certainly be a good idea. The people who wrote this knew nothing about the game. The section on happiness was absolutely stupid, most of the things listed there do not raise or lower happiness. They have proven they do not know anything about the mathematic values of the game, readily available through reverse engineering of a rom. The exact damage formula is not included (not that they would even know what it was), stat experience, what stat boosters REALLY do, etc.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good but they left out something!
This guide has almost everything you need to know. It has maps of the areas, what pokemon are located on each route, what each pokemon attack does, and much more. ( They also have a great cheat section. ) The only thing they didn't do very well was put the pokemon names with their attacks under them. The pokemon weren't all in one place. They were spread around the book in not any order! This makes them hard to find. Also the didn't include all the pokemon! Still, I think you should get this guide! The game is very hard without it. Also isn't it better to have a guide that is ok than no guide at all? ( I don't think there are any other Pokemon Gold and Silver guides. ) ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars This is a Pokedex not a Strategy Guide!
My son was waiting all week for this and was sorely disappointed when it didn't have any of the maps and hints like the other strategy guides! You should make certain that it points this out and only buy this one if you need the PokeDex information.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a walk through!
When I got this I thought it would be a walk through, boy was I wrong! This guide has EVERYTHING I can think of but a walk through! It does have how to use the game, all of the items you can get in the game, *extremely* detailed information on all 251 pokemon, pages on breeding pokemon, etc. Although this guide let me down because of the missing walkthrough (Earning it the 2 star rating) it is helpful, but only if you have or don't want a walk through.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Pokemon Guide
This tells you how to battle and all of the basics. It shows you the gym leaders pokemon and more.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not What I Thought It Was
There was no detail on this book, and I got it thinking it was a walkthrough. Oops! So to make sure no one else makes the same mistake that I did, I'll tell you what information this book contains.

The PokeDex of all 251 Pokemons. That's the primary purpose of this book. The PokeDex lists the Pokemons, their evolutions (if any), how to catch them if possible, what their move sets are, and their stats.

Basic information on how to play this game. Information on the three starter Pokemons, how the "rock / scissor / paper" aspect of this game plays out, how to use the PokeGear, and all of that.

An "events" calendar chart telling you what events takes place on what days.

A list of all the moves available in the Pokemon, including the TMs and HMs.

Where to get all the TMs and HMs in the game.

A list of items that Pokemon from Red/Blue/Yellow carry over with them onto Gold/Silver/Crystal.

An explanation of what mystery gifts are.

A list of all the items available in the game, and what they do.

The Pokemon breeding guide. Who can breed with whom, what baby Pokemons there are, and how to get them.

What this book does NOT contain is a comphresive walkthrough of the Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal games. The book also does NOT tell you the locations of the wild Pokemons, and the odds of catching them in that location.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon
This book was only helpful because there is a calender of events at the back. If you are looking for cheat codes, don't buy this book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nintendo Power version is better
I would say that the nintendo power versions better. nintendo gets 5 stars. you can buy the nintendo guide...

5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Stadium
Its a great giude for any body. It really helps you too.

1-0 out of 5 stars This books is a major disappointment!!!!!!
I bought this book thinking that it would be really good like the other Prima Pokemon guides. Their Silver/Gold guide is very comprehensive - with more information than the Nintendo guide. But this book is awful. The Ninentdo Version is so much better. If you want a good book for Pokemon Stadium get the Nintendo Guide book. They have full stats on all the Pokemon in the back including which HMs and TMs each Pokemon can use and their skills and their weaknesses. This book only tells you the the type of Pokemon and what it evolves to. My mom can tell you morea about Pokemon and she knows practically nothing. So don't waste your money! DONT BUY THIS BOOK. I am returning mine!

5-0 out of 5 stars There is a hidden advantage to buying these books....
My son was willing to"plod" thru these types of books when they were waaaaay beyond his reading level in order to improve his game. So even though I can't say exactly how the book was I an say my son way more than willing to increase his reading ability to master this book. How bad can that be? This book had a motivating effect on my sons ability to read... my opinion way that that was a good thing in my son's case.

5-0 out of 5 stars Insane!
This thick comic book is a bargain. It's much cheaper than the seperate comics, and easier to carry around.
This is Part 3 of a Pokemon trainer named Red. His rival is Blue, his theif friend is Green. First, he must stop Team Rocket from taking over his home town Pallet Town, then it's off to capture Mewtwp, and then to the League to battle Blue for the championship.
This comic is a little similiar to the T.V series. Red being Ash, Blue bieng Gary. But Red doesn't have pathetic Pokemon like Ash does, there is no anoying Jessie and James interupting and then blasting off again, and Gary is is same self.
This comic is a must have for collectors.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Buy!
This is great. It's one of my favorite pokemon comics! It has lots of action mixed in with adventure, and unlike the other series, which goes by the name of "Pokemon" (Very origial, isn't it?) It features a new and original adventure with new characters and isn't a tv show rip off. In this one Red (the hero) must save the world from the plans of team rocket with the help of his friends and pokepals. In the end he enters the pokemon league; will he face Blue in the finals, and does he even stand a chance? And more importantly, who is the mystery trainer green must battle against? (You'll find out.) There are two others befor this, Legendary Pokemon and Desparado Pikachu. After this comes comics which are adapted from the Yellow version of the game.

For a great pokemon experience and lots of fun, get this befor the "This item is not stocked or has been discontinued." notice appears!

4-0 out of 5 stars An "above average" book
This volume is my favorite, probably because it seems to be the most interesting one to read. Although the artwork is not extremely detailed, it still carries the story out quite well, and has lots of action. If you like Pokemon and manga, this book is for you. A fun read for younger audiences. (Hint: buying the graphic novel versions is actually cheaper than buying the individual comics!)

5-0 out of 5 stars What A Great Book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This book is the bomb of the series.
First Team Rocket attacks Saffron! Red, Blue and Green must work with each other to rescue Prof. Oak and to defeat Team rocket. Red meets with with Lt. Surge, Blue meets with Koga, and Green ends up with Sabrina! These evil Gym Leaders are arme with the 3 legendary bird Pokemon!
Next it's a show down with Blaine, Red, and Mewtwo! Can Red catch Mewtwo?
Then it's Red's biggest Gym Battle yet. With Giovanni! Can Red beat the leader of Team Rocket or will he have to work at Giovannis side for the rest of his life?
Lastly Red finally makes it to the Pokemon Leage. And what's green's problem when she was 5? Theres also this mysterious trainer calle " Dr. O " It's reds final battle to see who's better in the finals. Is it Red....Or Blue?
Read to find out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply cool;by Eddy Jacobsin
First,Red and Blue break the barrier.Second,Red fights Lt. Surge and Zapdos in a high voltage rematch(See part 1 numder 4 for details.)Third,Blue and Red fight Koga and the same Articuno that Red saved.Next, Green,Red,and,Blue fight Sabrina with Articuno,Zapdos, and Moltres. 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide (and a learning tool to boot!)
Complete, easy-to-follow, well-organized. The two Prima Guides credited to Elizabeth Hollinger and James Ratkos, ("Pokemon Master Pokedex" and the "Pokemon Gold & Silver" Strategy Guide), are in a separate class from the other Prima Guides, which are visually eye-catching, but less complete and harder to follow. (I have not yet seen Elizabeth Hollinger's "Crystal" Strategy Guide.) **PARENTS**: The Prima Guides are EXCELLENT learning tools, teaching children how to use reference materials independently. When my son was younger, I would read the instructions to him as he went along. Now an avid reader, my 7-year-old flips back and forth between his Prima Guides, plotting strategy, discovering information, confirming what he suspects to be true. EXCELLENT!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Guide!
This 'book' is very useful and fun to read. I have used it in many battles where it seemed like I was going to lose, but with it, I won!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Master Pokedex: Prima's Official Strategy Guide
I liked this book because it really helps a lot. If you have to go on the internet to find Pokemon answers here is your guide! If you spend a lot of time on the computer to look for info on Pokemon this would be a good book! It has more Information than the Internet.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Book For Pokemon Fans Of All Ages
I am a 13 year old and I am extremely hooked on pokemon, and this book is a great deal for all you parents who feel that it is too costly, because it IS worth it. I know that many of you reading this that have children are kind of lost when it comes to the world of pokemon, I know because my parents are, well, if you want to learn more about the "pocket monsters" then this strategy guide is a great idea!

Here are some of the most rewarding things you wil find in "Pokemon Master Pokedex".

I found that this book was very helpful in giving a well informed description on all 251 pokemon, excluding the mysterious Celebi.

It was very well organized giving info on almost every aspect of pokemon you can imagine.

I found this book to be helpful in many areas of gameplay that were difficult to me, and the breeding section helped me catch and raise many new and different pokemon.

Unlike other strategy guides, this one gives an in-depth review and is one of the most detailed guides, in my opinion, ever written.

Perhaps the best part of this is the battle chart, giving you info on what type of pokemon is dominant against another, giving info on every type, from grass, to fire, to electric, to steel, this book is the best!

5-0 out of 5 stars nothing gets better
it was really awesome........ It showed every pokemon there is(except for 1 ). i thought it was better than the normal pokedex ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars i choose you pikachu!
This book is pretty cool. it tells the story about Ash Ketchum and pikachu and a few of the adventures they go through. I think this book was mostly aimed at younger fans, because i read it really fast.i like this series because it's based on the t.v. episodes (well they actually are the real episodes). If you want your kid(s) to read a book but can't get them to, and they like pokemon this is a good choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book
Pokemon I choose you is about a kid named Ash who tries to find a lot of Pokemon. I like the part in the beginning of the book when Ash gets his first Pokemon called Pikachu. The part that I don't like at all is when Pikachu goes against richu in the Pokemon league. Richu almost killed Pikachu but he had to go to the hospital in Pokemon city. Then Pikachu went back to the gym.Pikachu said that Pikachu wanted to fight him,and this time Pikachu won big time. Then 11 year old Ash the trainer, got his first badge and the other people that he played against him. I used to have to have two of the same book, but I gave it to my friend who lives across the street from me. You should it,because it has good characters and animation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Emergency
Eleven-year-old Ash
Ketchum wants to be the
world's greatest Pokemon
master.With Pikachu,his
brand-new Pokemon at his side,
he sets out to capture and
train every Pokemon he can
find.Will he do it?Ash is
determined, and Pikachu's
power is electrifying!

But there's one kinda huge
problem _____ mischievous
little Pikachu won't do
a single thing Ash says!

Book One in the brand-new
Pokemon series, based on the
popular TV show.

1-0 out of 5 stars Man! This is not good.
There were no metaphors in this book, nor was it parallelled in any way to real life. I was not impressed at all. People would be much better off reading things like Dostoevsky or Hemingway. Little children, read Jack Kerouac's On The Road if you like Pokemon!

2-0 out of 5 stars Big dissappointment worst in the series
It started out okay but when i got to the end of pokemon emergency oh my god its all ready at vermillion city i mean come on there's at least 5 episodes cut out. The author has no paitence, nor imaganation. The only reason i gave it 2 stars is because it had good translations to pokemon i choose you and pokemon emergency otherwise it's cruddy. Serious fans: don't buy this you'll be dissappointed Little kids and not so serious fans MIGHT like it. It is easy to read, so younger fans will get the most out of it. Older fans won't like it though (most likely) ... Read more

Go, Team Rocket, Go! I think JAMES iS THE MOST handsome member of Team Rocket. Sometimes he is cool and relaxed.

1-0 out of 5 stars 15 year old Team Rocket fan
Being a Team Rocket fan. I find this book insulting! The only reason I've been into pokémon was because of Team Rocket! And I love it when they actually make some team rocket mechandise insted of always having that twerp & his pikachu on everything. But they could at least do it well! Jessie does Not have grey eyes they're blue, BLUE!!! That book was full of stupid mistakes like that AND it protrayed team rocket as a bunch of idiots that always fight with each other and never had real feelings of friendship towards each other! If ur a Really Big Team Rocket Fan, I sugguest u don't read this book it will just get u mad! I did and I SO regret it!

4-0 out of 5 stars a really awsome book
I think this is a really awsome book.I think every one should like it. I would recomend it to any body.

2-0 out of 5 stars A disappointing Rocket-centric book
If there's one complaint I have about Pokemon merchandise, it's that here in the U.S. we don't get very much Team Rocket material, and then, most of the stuff we do manage to get is incredibly biased against them. This book is no exception. Even though the story features Team Rocket, all the author manages to do is bad-mouth these three wonderful characters for 86 pages. -___- Team Rocket is THE reason why I watch Pokemon (and why I got this book), so seeing how out of character the author portrays them and how little character development they get is a major disappointment to an obsessive TR fan like myself. One saving grace, however, is that the story has a touching (yet fleeting) friendshippy scene and a scene of TR ingenuity, showing that they really are loving and intelligent characters, despite the author's insistence to the contrary. The book also has some adorable TR pictures. On the whole, it's not too bad, but as a Rocket-centric story, it leaves a lot to be desired.

3-0 out of 5 stars YAY team rocket!! ^__^
With the huge lack of any Rocket-related merchandise available, I'm sure that any Team Rocket fans would really want to buy this book. I buy everything about them that I can! ^.^ However, as a book, it's a bit lacking. That is, of course, probably because it's a children's chapter book, and the author always tends to degrade J,J&M in the series, anyway. There are some cute parts (and piccies!), but I'd recommend buying tapes and watching the actual episodes mentioned, which are a lot better than the book. I'd also recommend the Toshihiro Ono manga, where I thing they are portrayed a lot cuter than in Tracey West's series- this book is notoriously viewed as a "rocketbasher". It's nice just to have if you're a big fan, though, and it's the only book I'd recommend buying for a little Poke-obsessed kid (let's convert them all into TR fans! heehee . . . i'm obsessed. ^_^) ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good introduction to origami
Same review as Pokemon Origami 1, only the characters are different.

Note that generally it cannot stand as a 3D origami despite the Amazon's book description.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Origami 2 is better than the first one!
I bought this for a friend of mine, and let me tell you, that if you love origami and pokemon, then this is the book for you... Since this book is made for younger children, almost anybody can use it! Trust me if you buy this book, you'll enjoy hours of the high quality japanese paper folding! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Buy Something Else
I bought this guide before any reviews were up. I should have waited. This guide contains very little helpful information.

There's no:
Pokedex
Trainers Strategy
Helpful info on catching Legendary Pokemon

All this guide is is a pricey walkthrough. You can print a better one of the net for free. If you have to buy a guide, though, buy Prima. I looked through it and it's a lot better.

1-0 out of 5 stars It's a pretty picture book...
I bought this guide and found that everything in it is exactly what I could have figured out on my own. No PokeDex and nothing about breeding pokemon except one lousy sentence. This guide is horrible! Buy a Prima or Nintendo guide instead if you want helpful information. This book is a dud...

1-0 out of 5 stars NOT GOOD, AT ALL!!!
This so called "Strategy Guide" is the worst book I have ever set eyes upon. I believe this trash should be taken off the shelves and burned!!!!!!!!!!!

Keena70 says: If You Want Pokemon Learning, Here It Is!
I was never that good at Pokemon, and as soon as I beat a game I put it down and forget about it. The Pokemon R&S Version Guide gave me specific details to where everything was. The strange thing was there are secret places to go and do things, and I found half of them by the time I got the book, and this is before I finished the game! The book laid everything out for me and I use it to help me find more Pokemon, secret places, and if I get stuck. If you need help or want to finish 100%, get the guide!

3-0 out of 5 stars not enough depth
though this guide does have a pretty thorough walktrough, it doesn't really have anything else. there's no guide to pokemon evolution or a guide for the moves, and it doesn't say where you can catch certain pokemon, it only has a listing for "notable pokemon," which doesn't even list all the pokemon in the area. I found that this guide isn't much help with the gane, and that I could do the game just as well without it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best you can get!
To me, this is probably the best of Pokemon drawing books. What really surprised me was the book included Pokemon #151 (Mew)! This is definitely a good book for first time artists and experienced artists. Clearly shows how to draw the Pokemon and also clearly shows the instructions. If you draw (And/or like drawing Pokemon), it's definitely worth buying!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lickitung go!
I thought this book was as cool as the firs, if not cooler, it has some more of the rarer pokemon like Mew! The pokemon you can learn to draw are: Jigglypuff, Chansey, Doduo, Grimer, Mankey, Poliwag, Weedle, Slowpoke, Dratini, Drowzee, Lapras, Geodude, Golbat, Growlithe, Haunter, Horsea, Jolteon, Dragonite, Falreon, Nidoran, Ninetales, Paras, Persian, Sandslash, Abra, Lickitung and Mew! On the cover it has Primape, but it's not included in the book, it must just be a clerical error, they put Primape on the cover instead of Mankey. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ONE MINOR NOTE
The review titled "Fun!" is about the "Official Pokemon Collector's Sticker Book 2;" go there now, it's very good. This one is also good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun!
This book is a cool introduction to 33 of the new Pokemon. The best ones without doubt are Quagsire (blue platypus), Quilava (blue and white fire starter Pokemon stage 1 evolution), Bayleef (green grass Pokemon stage 1 evolution that supposedly emits a spicy smell from its neck's leaves-I love that, it reminds me of candles), Hoppit ("Cottonweed Pokemon;," isn't that an adorably precious name? Cute lil' pink thing that blows in the wind and predicts storms in the show), and Elekid (electric type that looks like an outlet plug). The book tells about them and gives you a sticker for each, plus stickers of lots of old Pokemon, too, in cool poses. There are a few mistakes, like calling Hoppit Hoppip and Maril Mareep, but that aside, it's really pretty cool. You can fill it out as you make your way to becoming a Pokemom master!

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok book
I ordered this book thinking that it was like a regular sticker book (one that told a story and you put the stickers on the pages). But it was a sticker book where you write down everything you find out while playing the game, watching the cartoon, and collecting the toys. It was a good book if you want it for those reasons.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Suprize Hit
My initial response was that the book had a lot of empty pages and 4 sheets of very detailed but small stickers. However the childen loved it. It keeps them busy especially childen six years and up. But it's not really suitable for the younger children, not flashy enough. I would suggest one of the other publications with less stickers

5-0 out of 5 stars It's cool.
I like that it has pages and stickers to fill in for every Pokemon. (Mom for Collin, age 6) ... Read more
