5-0 out of 5 stars A Nice History Book
When this book was written, Pokemon was the biggest thing on the planet. The book serves primarily as a history book in my opinion. The book is definitely "big" as the cover says. 300 pages!

There's full color images of the original 151 Pokemon with their stats. There images of the main characters and Bios. There's images of all the U.S. & Japanese Pokemon cards that existed back then. All the Burger King toys & cards are displayed. And there's Killer Decks for those that want to look back at the theory behind the Power decks.

If you or your kids are just getting into Pokemon, this will keep them entertained for hours. If you've been into Pokemon since 1998 ... then you'll have fun looking back on the good times. ;-)

Updated - "Make sure to pick up Pojo's Total Pokemon, as it picks up where this book left off, and was updated for 2004!"

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK!
This review is being typed on behalf of my 9 year old daughter! She says very informative and a great book for a Pokemon lover!

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm a poke'maniac!
I think this is a very good book which gives you information about the trading card game and prices(the important things) the only thing which prevents it from getting 5 stars is that new sets are going to come out and this book won't be able to cover them all but it's the best book about the cards which are out there right now

4-0 out of 5 stars the great pokemon book
I have many books that have old cards and not current info. but this book as I all all the all the cards ,I say this is the best pokemon price book ever! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars this book is da bomb
Boy,was i angry when they did not release this book out in the USA.I didn't even know what pokemon to battle with against the gym leaders. It was a challenge for me until i got this book.Dude, this book is awesome. From the full colored city and town maps to the big johto world map.A must have book.If you are a big pokemon fan and have the pokemon gold and silver game on your game boy color but don't have this book.Get it! This covers both gold and silver

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Pokemon Gold/Silver Guide out there
Boy was I angry. I couldn't find a decent strategy guide. I was looking through amazon then going out to book stores to flip through the guides. Prima guide? Not enough info. Pokemon Gold & Silver Official Pokedex? Not good maps. Just when I thought I was stuck, I came across Pokemon Gold Version and Silver Version : Official Trainer's Guide. I flipped through the book, looking at every detail. I purchased it and brought it home. I am so glad I did. This book's maps are great, has detailed information on every trainer and every move, TM, HM, map, Gym Leader and evolution. It even has a map of the whole Pokemon World at the end. Highly Reccomended for people who are just starting to play Pokemon Gold+Silver. It also told me what pokemon only exist and gold and not silver and vice-versa. I love it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Its an OK guide
I bought this book thinking that it was going to answer all my questions on the game and even the ones that i didnt have. The maps are good, and the guide part is average. They have discriptions on SOME of the pokemon(vague discriptions). The worst part about this is that it lacks a pokedex. It makes you wonder why the guide for the older game came with one of the best pokedexes. It includes the pokemons strengths, weaknesses, moves, evolutions, TMs, HMs, and stats. This strategy guide doesn't even contain a complete listing of all the pokemon.I don't know why people gave it such high ratings because I found it just as lacking as the prima guide. It doesn't have that much to offer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost the Best
I got this book to go along with my new pokemon silver game.It really is a great guide. It has pokemon information and great chapters. The only problem is that it gives away the ending. It told me all the secrets so it really wasn't fun to find them out on my own.I recommend the Versus Guide for Pokemon Gold/Silver. It doesn't give away secrets and is a little bit more in depth.

5-0 out of 5 stars Some pros, Some cons
I got it after I was half way through Silver. It tells you almost every thing you need to know. Although it doesnt tell you some names and stuff needed to evolve them, it is still better than Prima's. The other con is that it only shows you Johto maps, not the new Kanto ones. I wanted the Kanto maps cause there all changed every where . The real cool part about the one i got is that it is a COLLECTOR'S EDITION, which means it has a side with shiny Silver with Lugia, and the back shiny Gold with Hou-oh ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Kinda touching!
This book is about a Pokemon trainer named Kay and her Raichu. Kay works on a showboat where Pokemon trainers make it look like their Pokemon can talk. A typical day on the showboat goes on like this: The Pokemon do a performance on stage, and move their lips as if they're talking, but their trainers, who're hiding behind the scenes, talk when the Pokemon's lips move so it looks as if the Pokemon are talking. When Kay first got her Raichu, she thought Raichu was so cute, but when she hugged Raichu, Raichu accidently shocked her. Unfortunately, when Raichu accidently shocked Kay, she reacted and tossed Raichu against a crate, hurting him. Now, Kay is afraid to handle Raichu because she's afraid she'll get shocked again. Not only that, Kay's nervousness makes Raichu nervous, too, so it's impossible for Raichu and Kay to work together. And to further complicate matters, Raichu can't stand anyone handling him because he's afraid they'll hit him. As if Raichu and Kay didn't have enough problems, Team Rocket decides to steal all the Pokemon on the showboat, and Kay and Raichu must learn to work together if they want to stop Team Rocket. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Buying and Seling the Souls of our Children
As an architect with 6 years of graduate education, I have spent years studying the symbols created in the things we design, write and discuss. John Paul Jackson has exposed the demonic rituals that far eastern (and American!) cultures have allowed into our everyday life. Hollywood is also packaging this myth that is so bad for our children (and our adults!) I am ordering 25 copies of this book for all of my friends with children, because it is one of the ten best books I have ever read on how to discern what our children are being fed by society! The people who don't like this book need to open their eyes! Very well written and documented.

1-0 out of 5 stars This Book is a Failure in All Respects
I really cannot believe this book. I actually read the book, just so that I could make a valid point on all the websites that I besmirch Jackson and his literature. I want all the promoters of this book, including the author himself, to realize that Pokemon and Harry Potter are the manifestations of modern day pop culture. Pop culture is extremely healthy, and the author himself once lived in a time where pop culture surrounded him. What is funny about this is that the auther is not an opponent of the same culture he indulged in some time ago. He seems to believe that the late 1990's and the early 21st century are different from when he was a child. This is entirely false. I think I speak for all of my generation when I say we are proud of the choices we make, we are proud of the companies and products we support, and we are proud of the entertainment we indulge in. I am seventeen years old and have lived through much of the culture Jackson so detests. The world we live in is built around the accumulation of capital and the thriving of business. Jackson's book itself is a model of modern day capitalism, he is marketing this book to you to accumulate wealth for himself. In the same way, businesses such as Nintendo and authors, such as J.K. Rowling and Jackson, market their products to make their standard of living better. If this is such a crime, then I think Jackson should take his own book off the market. To all those who have read this book and believe in it, you are wasting your time. Your children will all grow up to be healthy human beings with the intent of making their lives better. In the same way that adults today relish their childhood memories, their children will someday relish the entertainment the received throughout their childhood. Thank you for reading.

1-0 out of 5 stars Right...
Sort of sad when an author is nonsensically threatened by a succesful toy franchise, don't you think?

Anything popular with children seems to be automatically labled as 'evil' nowadays by these types.

Ignore this book completey, not worth your or anybody's time.

1-0 out of 5 stars OH PLEASE:(
Pokemon is not bad I'm telling you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People
say this book is good. I don't think so.........................
If I could choose I would give 0 and I mean 0 stars... Do not by this book. Pokemon are never bad and going to live.

1-0 out of 5 stars :\
If it were up to me, I wouldn't have given it a star at all. Where is there evil in Pokemon? Can someone tell me?

Each episode of the television show has a message, Ash has a dream to strive to be the best in what he loves to do. That's a positive message if I've ever heard one.

Take for instance, this one episode which showed that everybody in the "pokemon" universe were being watched by the three legendary Pokemon for when humans and Pokemon. Humans and Animals, work and co-exist as one, if that isn't a good thing or a positive message, then I don't know what is.

You tell us to open our eyes ... well open yours.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ignore that narrow-minded reader from New Mexico...
this is the greatest book ever!"Pokemon" will remain a favorite long after so-called fads like "Simpsons" and "Fairly Oddparents" have been tossed aside for better things.Who needs the so-so "South Park" junk..the ho-hum "Spongebob Squarepants" and the awfully boring"Simpsons" when you can have something exciting like "Pokemon"?Forget the dull "Futurama" garbage and the yawn-inducing adult anime schlock-if you want something exciting-stick with "Pokemon".

4-0 out of 5 stars I love Tracey!
I love Tracey and Scyther, so this is my fave book out of the series. They're all well-written, and kids shold enjoy them LONG after Pokemon's popularity is over. They teach morals and friendship in a fun way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Scyther, Bold and Selfish
When Tracey catches Scyther, the brave Bug Poke'mon's warrior pride is wounded. It can't regain its honor without a fight. Whom will it battle? Scyther chooses... Charizard!

Which hot- headed Poke'mon will triumph? It's the ultimate face- off, for the Poke'mon and their trainers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Orange Islands Burst Out
Did you ever miss the episodes A Way Day Off, Tracey Gets Bugged, or one of the latest episodes Charizard Chills. Well if you buy this excellent book written by Shelia Sweeny, you can find out what happened in each of those episodes. So if you like the Orange Islands Episodes and missed any one of these, if I were you I would rush out and buy this at your local bookstore.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bleggh...
Don't you think the world's had just about enough of Pokemon? Gameboy, N64, Toys, School Supples, Software and now THIS? Gimmie a break. These comics are'ne even halfway decent. Brainwashed kids and their parents are sure to buy this piece of junk, but let me tell you, this book, along with all the others, is just plain terrible. Don't buy it. It's a 100% waste of money. Besides, this book will be forgotten soon when Pokemon is erased from the "current fad" list. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars POKEMON
POKEMON fans everywhere have this masterpiece in thier collection!!!!!!!!!!
You should have it too!!!!!!!!!!
If you don't you'll be sorry.
The only bad part is it leaves out just a tad too much.

I rate it 90 out of 10.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cissy, Dan and Rudy
If you missed the episodes Fit To Be Tied, Navel Maneuvers or Misty Meets Her Match, this is the book for you. In "Fit To Be Tied," Ash challenges Cissy, a member of the Orange Crew. It is not a Poke'mon battle, it is more of a competiton of stength of the trainer and Poke'mon. Cissy chooses Blastiose, and Ash chooses Lapras. If I get helpful reviews, I will write more.

3-0 out of 5 stars Quite poor.
I was inspecting the book, a really poor written book, I'm glad the book Scyther, Heart of a champion will be written by Sheila Sweeney. Tracey West fails to describe about the Orange league. However, the way she describes the way Squirtle used hydro pump is fascinating in many ways. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars wow this book waws good.
for a Junior pokemon book, this book was good. the plot was so great. I have read this book like a hundred times, and i still can't get enough of it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent reading motivator for Pokemon fans
Like the other Pokemon Junior books, this one has enough of a plot to interest the early-elementary set, and is easy enough to read alone or with only a little help. My six year old is able to read it along with me with just a little help on the longer or more unfamiliar words. Most of the really difficult words are the names of Pokemon characters, which he can usually recognize by sight or get from context, which is kind of thrilling for him. He anxiously awaits each new book in this series, and as a parent, I am glad to see him getting so much pleasure from reading. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Speak, O Muse...
Not since James Aloysius Joyce flipped through the Classics Comics version of Homer's Odyssey and decided he could make a big something out of a bit of fluff has an author turned the stuff of pop culture into a monument of the age. Five stars for the author, who'd merit six if he weren't hiding behind an outlandish pseudonym. "Gregg Sacon"? Please. It's like something out of a Martin Amis novel. Step into the limelight, sir! It won't burn you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book by a really good author!
My daughter and I LOVED this book!! I was surprised to see such a scathing review here, the story of Nidoran falling in love with a fellow Pokemon was both creative and intelligent. We have read Greg Saconn's other Pokemon books and we really enjoy what he does with the characters; providing the Pokemon characters with dimensions that other authors don't touch.

1-0 out of 5 stars Stupid plot spoils this book
The sappy, dumb plot of this book about two Pokemon falling in love is enough to turn off the kids who would otherwise be attracted to the book because of its Pokemon theme. While not a fan of Pokemon myself, I buy these books for my first grade son in order to encourage him to read independently. While the plots of all the Pokemon Jr. books are pretty preposterous, they usually have a little humor or action to at least hold a child's interest. This one however is just plain silly and even worse, is not engaging as an early reader book should be. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Journey
Did you ever know Poke'mon even existed? Well you will find out in Poke'mon the Jhoto Journeys Teaming up with Totodile by Tracy West. It is about a boy training Poke'mon and earning badges from defeating gym leaders, to become a Poke'mon master. In his journey to become a Poke'mon master he meets new friends. This is one book in a series, so you can read more if you want.

This book is good is because this book has a lot a action in it and it is interesting. Another reason is that Ash sees a Poke'mon he wants to catch ,but Misty wants to catch the Poke'mon too. There are a lot of problems to be worked out also. Tracy West has written most of these Poke'mon books, so you can read more if you like this one.

I think the Tracy West's purpose was to give the reader an idea of what Poke'mon looks like and for the readers to use bigger imaginations. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars If you want a Pokemon manga thats cute and funny...
... then you should get this one! This is the first and only shojo Pokemon manga that has been made, and it's great! The main character is Hazel, a love-sick blonde girl that is desperately trying to win the affections of Almond, the boy that she has a crush on. The problem is, Almond seems to only think about one thing: Catching Pokemon. So Hazel goes to her grandpa, a diminuitive fellow, and asks him to make her a love potion. Unfortunately for Hazel, the love potion doesn't work while she tries to give it to Almond during a picnic. Hazel begins to get fed up with her grandpa, and he decides to give her a love potion that actually works, but for a price: He asks her to catch alot of Pokemon for him, so he can discover stuff about 'the evolution of Pokemon' and how it benefits mankind or something. Hazel agrees, and runs into a whole mess of situations. She ends up befriending a cute Pikachu, helping a Clefairy gain some confidence, joining Jigglypuff at it's baloony party, discover Tangela's secret, and spending Christmas with her loved ones. This graphic novel also includes 3 bonus stories, and 3 'bonus bonuses', in which one of it's hillarious scenarios unites the Magical Pokemon Journey cast with the cast of the Pokemon anime, Ash, Misty, and Brock.
If you like shojo manga, or the humorous side of Pokemon, you should get this book before Viz stops publishing it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Magical Pokemon Journey
The Magical Pokemon Journey manga is quite entertaining for those of you who are into shoujo (or 'girly' manga n_n). I will suggest this one to fans of all ages. This is, by far the best Pokemon manga Iv gotten my hands on. Cuter snd more original than the manga by Toshihiri Ono and Pokemon Adventures.

5-0 out of 5 stars I never really thought I'd like something Pokémon ....
I never really thought I'd like something Pokémon .... but then again I didn't think I'd like Gundam Wing and Fushigi Yugi either .. you never can tell what you do or don't like until you try it. I think I just proved this to be the truest thing of all.
See my grandmere knows I like manga and anime so I guess she put it upon herself to find me some this Christmas, well you know grandmothers ... all the anime she knew of was Sailor Moon and Pokémon, (and she only knew of Sailor Moon because I've been obsessed with Sailor moon since I was about ten) so what she came up with was a couple of really nasty looking Sailor Moon dolls which are virtually noseless (despite the fact that I'm [age] years old I still somehow always wind up with dolls ^-^ not that I mind though ... shh ... me and Rose still play with all our anime dolls!!) and of course this Pokémon manga, I decided to read it because even if I'm not exactly a Pokémon fan the cover was adorable and I loved it! Read it if you are a shoujo fan, or just a plain fan of cute manga, you will enjoy it.
.....

5-0 out of 5 stars A different world of Pokemon!
I've watched the animated series, I've played the game, I've read the comics but I've never ever seen a comic about Pokemon that is sooo adorable as this! This is what I want! I've been searching for this kind comic. So cute, so funny and so...wonderful! I never thought anyone could make Pikachu any cuter than he is already.

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL!!!!
...

This is a story about a girl named Hazel who wants a (working) love potion to make the guy of her dreams, Almond, hers. To do this she must go around collecting Pokemon for her Grandpa. She meets lots of Pokemon (four of which can speak human language) and has lots of adventures.

There are three bonus stories, and three bonus bonuses. The former three are like normal stories, and the latter three are special thingamajigs.

There's also a one-page preview of Journey Two, which I am SO buying after seeing how good Journey One was!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars An excellent guide for all ages.
I am pleased to say that this excellent guide has brought much information about the incredibly popular Pokémon trading card game, and much knowledge about the Pokémon merchandise. Checkerbee Publishing has made a incredible value guide, considering that they included transalations for the Japanese poket monster trading card game, pictures of the cards, and such information is included in American Pokémon card game which is also featured in this book. Though this book has it's pros, it also has cons. No estimated prices are given about the American Fossil Cards, and few people are sure that the Japanese transalations are 100% accurate. Though, that should not stop you from buying this stupendous guide. I am very sure this will satisfy thous who are in need of Pokémon information.

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome
I find the pokemon tv series childish and wasn't sure If I'd like the manga but I saw the artwork was good so I said, Why not?
It turns out this book is not really like the tv series. Ash's mom and prof. oak look totally different and ash finds pikachu in this manga. He also catches different pokemon and there lots of fun humor too. This book has great art! the pokemon look so life like! I really recomend this book!

4-0 out of 5 stars Poke'mon = GREAT!
I have all 4 of these books. I think they are cool, but it is not well based on the real Poke'mon. Like, for instance, in number 3, Ash battles Brock and wins EASILY, but Pikachu would have been weak against Onix and the Geodudes. And in number 1, Ash finds Pikachu under the floorboards! Really, Ash gets Pikachu from Proffeser Oak! But still, these are cool book!

5-0 out of 5 stars I wish you can put a billion stars.
A friend gave me this book for my birthday. And I can safely say this was the best present I got out of everything. Pokemon fans and comic fans will like this. And it isn't that childish. And this Toshihiro guy can draw. I haven't read a good book like this in a long time. It ranks up there with the Harry Potter books.

5-0 out of 5 stars A more mature manga than the TV series.
The original manga has original artwork that is far superior to the television series and contains typical japanese humor and caracatures. It is really geared toward teens, but is accessible to children 10 and up who can appreciate some of the humor. It teaches values of hard work, humility, and devotion. Don't judge this book by the TV series or movies. It is - by far - superior.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great manga, with a different appearence...
This manga is pretty good, but all the characters looking diferent...Brock, Ash,Jessie, James, and Misty look pretty much the same, but minor character such as Ash's mom, Bill, and Professor Oak get a serious makeover...I couldn't stop laughing after I saw Professor Oak, he looks nothing like the anime guy, seeing these makeovers alone justify giving this manga a chance....^_~ ...
