4-0 out of 5 stars New Pokeworld To Explore!
I haven't read this one yet, but since the Johto Journeys haven't made it to VHS and/or DVD yet, I'll give this book a whirl.

Heroic Ash Ketchum, Misty and Brock, plus Togepi and Princess Poliwag (from Stun Spore Syndrome in the Orange League Saga), and Mr. 25 himself, Pikachu boldly go where no trainers have gone before! I'll write a follow up as soon as I get my hands on it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Are you a Poke master?
This is the pokemon test to see what you'd be in the Poke wrold.
Are you smart enough to be a master?
The only way to find out is to get this book and see for yourself.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun for hours!!
Some people say it is too easy but that just matters on how much you know about pokemon. This book has over 200 questions and some pictures that are black and white. ( I think you should get this book if you have played pokemon blue, red, or yellow on gameboy. This game is based on the old pokemon not the new ones.) If you don't have the game, it is a good idea to watch the T.V. show. If you have not play the game or watched the show DON'T BUY IT. It will be to hard for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Definitely good, but sometimes a little too easy.
The book is definitely good. But sometimes the questions can be a little easy when I looked through the book. But is still worth the buy and the read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great but easy
This book is a lot of fun to do. The are around, probably, 230 questions no less. Although it was fun book, it's a little easy. The pictures are a challenge and a handful of the questions will keep you thinking, but I got over 220 questions right. I NOT bragging. Anyone who already has seen most of the series and played the game and read the comics could score high in this book. Which doesn't mean you shouldn't get it. It's still pretty fun and is worth the read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Poke-Mania!
Ms. Entin not only shows the ins and outs of the beloved Pokemon, but also uses great stylistic skill to uncover the true magic of Pikachu and his friends. Her book will soon become the benchmark for all great trivia books! If there ever is a Pokemon Renaissance, it will be because of superior writings such as this. Ms. Entin seems to possess an IQ far beyond 300 and should really apply herself to greater challenges like unseating intellectuals such as Marilyn vos Savant or The Moss. Pultizers are in the future if this author continues to dazzle us with further literary forays! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It Works!
This really helped me figure out how (including tips and hints) to play the game.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a really great book!
Before, I was stuck in the Poke Cup Master Ball stage and needed help to get past this psychic trainer. Grrrrr! No matter how hard I try, even if I use my mew from Gold, I can't get by this psychic trainer! His espeon beats me every time and he always always brings the espeon into battle with him! I got Mew from a Pokemon Gold and Silver mall tour my mom took me to and the super duper nice guy installed mew onto my Pokemon Gold cartidge for Game Boy and it is level 100 and I can beat almost any enemy I encounter except this aggravating psychic trainer! Grrrr! This book was the answer and it tells stats on all the trainers from all the cups including the new ones and it tells about the school and the lab and the mini games and that kind of stuff. It also tells about all the Pokemon and attacks. I don't like how you can't use items in the game and also your uploaded Pokemon don't gain experience on this game while battling. I also don't like that you can't use an uploaded Pokemon in the mini games. You have to play with the preset Pokemon for each game. Thanks a lot for this book! Now I'm finally past that grueling psychic trainer!

5-0 out of 5 stars good golly !
This book is surprizingly good, it has tips and strategy to help you with all the different cups. This book tells you how to beat everything in the game, what all the "secrets" are... and teams that they think you should use, they even have their "unbeatable" teams... but over all this book is very helpful, i should be through the game in no time at all. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tips to help you become a master!!!
This was a great book! It had great tips on the Red and Blue versions! (Since this book was made at the beginning of the Pokemon phenomenon it'll be mostly aimed at the Red & Blue.) Still, this book is a great buy! It has reviews from kids back when they were among the first to know about Pokemon! I also recommend buying "Pokemon Fever" and "Pokemon Future"-- they are sequals (Pokemon Future unlocks the secrets of the glitch Pokemon Missingno and Glitch City, incase you are interested.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Probably the BEST Pokemon book around!
I have this book and I must say I loved reading it. I actually took time out from playing video games and watching TV to read this book. You can't help but smile at the cute jokes scattered in the book. This book has several things other Pokemon books don't have, reviews and tips straight from kids who play Pokemon all the time. If you're looking for a book to buy your kids on Pokemon, look no further. This book also gives reviews on other great games for children and explains in a very unsuspecting manner that children should also help out with chores, read more often and other things. This book has no flaws except a few errors with what Pokemon are found in which game. This is a book no one would regret buying.

5-0 out of 5 stars A cute story that children and adults alike can enjoy!
This book is a novelization of "Go West, Young Meowth!" (one of the best Pokemon episodes of all time). The episode and the book tell the story of Meowth's past -- how he taught himself to walk on two legs, read, and talk, how he tried to win the love of the beautiful but shallow Meowsie, and how he came to join Team Rocket. Parts of the story are sad for poor Meowth, but Jessie and James come to the rescue and prove just how much they love him. They show him that even if he doesn't fit in with his fellow Meowths, he's still their best friend, and they'll do anything for him. The book's large print, simple writing style, and heartwarming message of friendship make this an excellent story for young children to read. (And even we older TR fans can enjoy it because it shows Jessie, James, and Meowth as they truly are -- beautiful characters who love each other deeply. ^_^)

5-0 out of 5 stars Very cute
This is a very cute book that stars Bulbasaur. A boy and agirl want to use their money to buy something, but they each wantsomething different. The girl wants to buy a tulip, and the boy wants to buy a frog. Then, they find a Bulbasaur, which they think will solve all their problems. After all, Bulbasaur looks like a frog with a tulip on it's back. However, the boy tries to feed Bulbasaur flies, but Bulbasaur doesn't like flies. The girl tries to water the bulb on Bulbasaur's back, but the water's too cold(Not only that, Bulbasaur's bulb won't sprout until it evolves into Ivysaur, but the girl obviously didn't know that.). Finally, Bulbasaur has to go out into the forest and find a real frog and tulip to give to the boy and girl. This book teaches kids to use creativity to solve problems, which is why I'd recommend it to kids.

3-0 out of 5 stars Board book best for the 3 and under crowd.
This is a cute board book that is appropriate for the toddler set. If your child is at all familiar with the characters of the Pokemon video series, he or she may be disappointed: "Bulbasaur's troubles" does not follow the story line of the series at all, rather, it tells a very simple story involving Bulbasaur. Probably a perfect book for a little sibling of a Pokemon crazed kid! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars G3NGAR H3LLA OWNZ!!!
Although I couldn't stand the Pokémon™ show, and I thought the whole craze over the show (and the video games, and the toys, and etc. etc. ad nauseam...) was absolutely retarded (despite the fact it helped keep me employed), I somehow managed to attain a favorite Pokémon character. It probably had to do with the fact that I was literally caught in the middle of this legendary fad as I helped the comic-and-collectibles shop I worked at move countless collectible card game packs and other assorted Poké-tchochkes. #ell, the shop owners even set up a playing area in a back room for weekly Pokémon card game nights (WarHammer™ 40K geeks occupied the space the rest of the week). It was the most un-freakin'-believable thing I'd ever seen.

Anyhoo, after having literally thousands of Pokémon products pass from my hands to the store shelves (or to the hyperactive little ankle-biters who craved their Poke-fix), I guess it was only a matter of time before I actually fell for a Poké-critter or two (sad but true). And that fave would be Gengar™, the ghostly purple Cheshire Cat-smiling little imp-looking thingy. He was satanic, yet cute-- er, cute in a macho and manly sorta way... um, yeah. And he's got that horrible sneer that tells ya he knows your deepest, darkest, most depraved secrets, as his fiery gaze rips into your very soul, sending cascades of chills into you as-- whoa, where'd THAT come from?! Sorry 'bout the melodramatics, folks-- let's move on, shall we?

Fast-forward a few years after Pokémon's height in popularity. I'm at a yard sale checkin' out the various second-hand wares, when I stumble upon this particular product that sparked more than a few memories both good and bad. All this was, was a sheet that was like a way-overdone Al Jaffee MAD magazine fold-in. I had to fold this weird sheet around and rearrange it until I was able to get the image I was looking for. I hadda make a few other images pop up along the way-- such as Ghastly and Haunter, AKA Gengar's unevolved forms-- but when I finally got to the main man, it was more than worth the two quarters I plunked down for the thing. There he was, in all his evil-eyed, big-grinned glory, standing up and wavin' at'cha like he was on a float in some parade or something. It's just so... precious, ya know? Also thrown in for fun are a few the big guy's Poké-battle skills, including hypnosis and the eating of a sleeping opponent's dreams. Don't ask me how the latter skill works, 'cuz I don't get the whole "dream eater" deal, m'self (BTW didn't Gary Wright do a song on the subject?). All I know is, Gengar's the coolest Pokémon ever, and there's nothin' you can do about it, so there! *PBPBBLLTTTHTHTHT!!!*

1-0 out of 5 stars This book gets a ''Mega Punch''
.......and a big stinky thumbs down goes to Pokemon Tales!! I hate this series. I saw this in a bookstore one day and it wasn't what I expected it to be. Instead of a cool Pokemon book it was a chubby baby book. It was SOOOOO boring. Like, who would think someone THAT young would like POKEMON????? Who would think someone that young would even KNOW about Pokemon???????!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Teaches kids a good lesson
I think this book is very good for little kids. In the book, Squirtle is afraid to come out of it's shell. Squirtle's friends Poliwhirl and Charmander try to get Squirtle to come out, but Squirtle is just too afraid. When Squirtle finally does come out, he gets to see a beautiful sight. This book teaches kids that even though they might be afraid at times, taking chances is better than being a coward.

5-0 out of 5 stars Our child loves it!
Our 3-year old loves this book, and 'reads' it to himself from memory (since he can't read yet) whenever he can.. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to make reading more 'fun' and enjoys seeing their child interact with pokemon, yet may not feel he or she is old enough for the more 'mature' aspects of this phenomena.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Wise!
This book is so wise! It teaches an important lesson: Better to be safe that sorry, but you much take chances once in awhile. It is a cute, adorable story. I definitly recommend this book. It is the best in the series, I think.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cute Board Book for the 3 and under crowd
This is a cute board book that is appropriate for the toddler set. If your child is at all familiar with the characters of the Pokemon video series, he or she may be disappointed: "Come out Squirtle" does not follow the story line of the series at all, rather, it tells a very simple story involving Squirtle and some other Pokemon.Probably a perfect book for a little sibling of a Pokemon crazed kid! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Indeed Perfect
I've seen a lot of pokemon guide books, but this is the best yet. Even though it lacks a straight down items list, the pokedex is great. With this guide, I have captured every pokemon available in Silver Version. And with the Ho-Oh and Lugia, I am unstoppable. The guide shows all new basic form pokemon and tells you what page the pokemon is listed in in the pokedex. It has up to date detailed maps, trainer rosters for nearly every trainer, Techniques section, TM and HM's list, a calander events chart and types chart(advasntages and dis advantages)This is the guide i wuold reccomend to anyone who wants to beat the game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Indeed, a perfect guide
It's indeed a very perfect guide, full of lots of pictures and info. This is very handy, since you can see all the stats and attacks of the Pokémon. With the same basics as the Adventure guide, but with more things revealed, it's perfect.
The only thing we miss are the discribings of the Pokémon itselfs on pages where you will find the Pokémon for the first time. Also, the stats have to be more precisely. For the rest it's a great guide!!! I can't be missed by your collection!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Imperfect and frustrating
This game guide is missing too much information and is too inaccurate to rate more than a 3.

1. There is no item list. Do you want to find a Metal Coat or an HP Up? How about the Silver Wing? A good guide book will provide an item list that tells you briefly where in the game it is found, what it does, and what pages you can go to for more information. This guide is almost useless in providing such essential help, requiring you to flip through the game walk-through section (nearly 100 pages) to spot the item that you're looking for. This very quickly becomes tiresome, and is incredibly frustrating.

2. Many hidden items are not identified. If you bought the guide to help you find hidden potions and other such items, you will be disappointed. Some are marked and some are not. They really didn't do their research here.

3. The maps are very poorly organized. The game walk through is often confusing, especially for children under 10 years old. I often had to flip back and forth through ten pages to find out how one map connected to another. Using the walk through should not require as much work as playing the game itself.

4. The advice on type match-ups is biased and misleading. In the game walk through the author(s) suggest the "best" type match ups for battling gym leaders and others. These are usually not the only good type match-ups and may lead some players to think that their party is not capable of winning the battle. In general, the author(s) biases concerning the best Pokemon severely detract from enjoying the game. It would be better if they simply stuck to general advice and let players find combinations that work for them.

5. The tables documenting new and changed moves in the Pokedex and in the Moves List are full of missing information. New moves are sometimes marked in the Pokedex and sometimes they are not. The same is true of changed moves. It's a very poorly compiled Pokedex.

6. For such a big guide, there is an enormous amount of essential information that is not there. Rather than including so much of their uninteresting opinions on which Pokemon is worth having in your party, the author(s) should have paid attention to providing important knowledge and explanations. How does a Pokemon's type interact with his attack and defense abilities (not clearly explained)? How does the power of a particular move equate to the actual number of hit points of damage done in battle? The list of unanswered and important questions is a long one.

Overall, the guide gets a 3 since it is usable. I'd rather have this guide than no guide at all, but the others available could not be worse and are probably more complete, accurate, and informative.

5-0 out of 5 stars A true "perfect guide"
this is the perfect guide it has a complete pokedex, trainer rosters for every trainer, maps for every where, and so on. if you buy gold or silver this is a must! if you are a pokemon fan this will be the best $... you spend! buy this guide

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best Pokemon guide! Almost.....
This book is great! I would have given it 5 stars if only it didn't have so many mistakes in it. I mean there's like a few mistake every 5 pages. (That is in the pokedex). But you could still understand it. I don't really think that it's a PERFECT Guide. But still go buy it. It's pretty good anyway. Sigh.... ... Read more
