Wander through the Sesame Street neighborhood; around every corner is a new surprise. Whether counting from 1 to 12 with the help of numbered flaps, matching objects in mailboxes, or peeking behind windows to see who lives in the "Furry Arms" apartment building, kids will love lifting, looking, and learning with this big, busy board book. With more than 60 flaps to peek behind, children will want to spend lots of time exploring. It's fun to learn about books (Three Little Pigs, Alice in Wonderland) and opposites (light/heavy, asleep/awake, slow/fast) when Big Bird and Bert and Ernie are behind the flaps to help! Created in cooperation with the Children's Television Workshop, producers of Sesame Street, this book, though somewhat overwhelming in color and activity, will appeal to lively little eyes and hands. Joe Mathieu's illustrations, based on the well-known Sesame Street characters, are familiar and inviting. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One you will need - or let your kid be moron
Worth the money. Teach your baby with YOUR pleasure - he/she will be delighted.

Not all of Sesame Str. books are so great as this one (e.g. I warn you: do NOT buy "Tickle me Elmo"). You and your kid will be delighted uncovering things (I discover the clown's toothpaste after two weeks...)

Really nice and helpful with development of the child.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun with Elmo
My son loves books, this one is fun because he can look at whats under the flaps and learn to count, find things that match and find opposites. He plays awhile looking at this, he received this when he was 2 years old and now he is 4 years old.

5-0 out of 5 stars A book that you have to buy
My two years old son reads this book every day. Each page has one theme. My son loves to use his interpretation and imagination to describe what the sesame street muppets are doing and talking about to each other. After my friends read this book, they all ask me to order it for them. Now I have ordered four more for them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great! My son loves this very much!!
Very exciting to baby. My son has loved this book since about one month old. Now my son is two years old and this book has worn down with his hood and drool. Although this book is still his most favorite.

5-0 out of 5 stars Elmo's Lift-And-Peek Around the Corner Book
This has been my son's favorite book. I have to buy it again because he played with it so much that it's a little bit wrecked. It's perfect for little ones and toddlers. He started enjoying the book before he turned one. ... Read more

Guess where Maisy the mouse lives. Does she live in the pigpen? "Oink! The pigs live here." Does she live in the hen house? "Cluck! The hens livehere." Does she live in the stable? "Neigh! The horses live here." With large, sturdy flaps, this pint-sized board book will appeal to every toddler's gigglysense of humor. (Silly! Maisy doesn't live in the dog house!) In her picturebooks about the endearing Maisy, the talented Lucy Cousins rustles up the idealpreschool picture-book recipe: simple, repetitive text and boldly outlined, brightly colored pictures. As Maisy's many devotees will attest, pretty muchanything she does is worth reading about. Need proof? 4-0 out of 5 stars Another Fun Lift the Flap Book from Maisy
If you are the parent of a young child, you probably know who Maisy is. She's a mouse with a duck, a squirrel, an elephant, and a crocodile for friends. Why the crocodile isn't trying to eat the others is beyond me, but that's life in Maisy's world.

Both of my daughters love the Maisy books; there's something about their simple stories and colorful pictures that even appeals to adults. The books are short and easy to read. But, the stories are never obnoxiously simplistic, like so many other books for small children.

This is a lift the flap book in which the childen are lifting flaps trying to figure out where Maisy lives. Naturally, we don't find out untilt he end of the book (hey, it would ruin the plot to reveal earlier, right?). One caution, the kids might get a little aggressive with the flaps and tear a few, resulting in the purchase of a new lift the flap book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Maisy is a new favorite of 16 month old
Ayla, my 16 month old grand-daughter, just loves this book. She also loved the Karen Katz books, too, as she is into lifting the flap books.

4-0 out of 5 stars Maisy's a winner
My two year old son loves the Maisy books and so do I - the illustrations are so appealling! He really enjoys this book. The premise is very simple - does Maisy live in the stable? no, the horses do etc - but it lends itself to racuous shouts of "no" as he lifts the flap on each page, which is a lot of fun. It's also very robust, which I appreciate. So far none of the flaps have been torn off. My only criticism is that it's very short. I feel a bit cheated by that. If you're after one fun flap book, I would recommend "Where's Spot" ahead of Maisy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Maisy is marvelous!
Our 7 month old simply loves this book. She loves to lift the flaps in search of Maisy's home. Currently, it is the only one we have from the series by Lucy Cousins, but not for long! It's a hit at reading time!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent books!
All the lift-the-flap Maisy books are great. My daughter has been enjoying them since she was 8 months (she is now 18 months). Cute, vivid pictures with nice thick cardboard flaps. The Maisy series flap books are the best of their kind. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Is holding up well with continued use
My daughters (now 3 and 2) received this book about 6 months ago. They love Barney so the book was an instant hit.

They love the fact that they can lift the flaps as I read them the story - makes for a really fun and exciting reading session (no matter how many times I've read it to them). They also enjoy looking through it themselves and love lifting all the flaps.

I can't tell you how many times this book has been read in the last 6 months but it's been ALOT. The flaps have held up well with the constant use and none look anywhere near ripping - this book is good quality.

As they are learning their ABC's and 123's this book has continued to hold their interest.

Recommended if you love Barney, love "flap books, or just want an interesting and fun way to learn your ABC's and 123's.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun, sturdy, colorful
Our toddler loves lift-the-flap books but often, through repetition or curiosity, tears the flaps off; however, the flaps on this book are thick and sturdy, and have withstood many viewings with no tears. The heavy laminate pages clean up easily.

The book is colorful and has a LOT of flaps: the first two-page scene features the first ten numbers; the second has the 26 letters of the alphabet; the third shows a farm scene with nine colors featured; the fourth is a busy circus, with flaps for eight shapes; the fifth is a beach scene and the flaps depict seven pairs of opposites; and the sixth shows a fairy tale scene that incorporates eleven flaps hiding characters from the show (Stella, Baby Bop) and fairy tale characters (Humpty Dumpty, Mother Goose).

A good value, entertaining and educational.

5-0 out of 5 stars Barney's Abc, 123 and More, an absolute hit!
This book was a hit on Christmas! My 15 month old son would not let it go once he opened it. The book is a nice size (big) and has a lot of fun flaps to open so he can learn his abc's and more. My son love Barney and this book will turn into fond memorie for him as he grows. It's great to find something he enjoys. My 6 year old daughter enjoys reading it with him too!

5-0 out of 5 stars My son's favorite!
This book is, without a doubt, my 22-month-old son's favorite book! He calls it "Triangle Book," and he insists on playing with it at least once a day. He likes to take out all the shapes and line them up on our couch and then get me to help him put them back. Yes, the shapes are slightly difficult to replace, but it forces me to play with him (not try to cook, clean, etc...) while helping him and talking to him about the shapes and colors. As a proud parent, I have to brag that my son can identify triangles, circles, rectangles, and squares. At 22 months! And he's been doing it now for some time. He even points out circles--the letter "o"--on signs when we're out shopping! He'll say, "Circle! Circle!" and sure enough there will be something in the vacinity shaped like a circle. Last week he was lying on the floor in our kitchen pointing to the squares on the linoleum and sayingk "Squares, squares," until I validated that they were squares. I think a big part of his ability to do this comes from him playing with this book regularly. I am buying a second copy because the first one is pretty ragged from being used so often!

One caution--I caught my son with one of the shapes in his mouth a couple of months ago, so I now supervise him anytime he's playing with it. It is recommended for ages two and up, so...

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice idea - poor execution
Like all of the series - generally good subject matter and a dash of learning. The idea is scenes with the shapes (circle, oval, triangle etc.) outlined in the picture (wheel on a train, door in a house etc.) - great idea. But the shapes are not attached, just little cutouts. The problem is that all the shapes in this book come out so of course any child will lose half of them by week two. Secondly when you try and put the shapes back into the book (you tak eit out to see the shape) it is tough for an adult to do it, worse enough a kid. The fit is too tight. So they go in loose and have a tendency to fall out.

All in all a novel idea, but does not make any sense for kids. Skip it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Snappy Pop-Ups are the best!
Our 2 year old son received this book as a birthday present from his Nana. We all enjoy reading it and looking at the pop up pictures of the dinosaurs. The bold colors ad cute pictures keep him busy for hours. He even tries to repeat the dino's names! And with a pop up book to go with any occasion I 100% recommend this book to everyone with children.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yet another Fantastic Snappy Book!
This is a great book! Each page has a different dinosaur, rhyming text, the dinosaur's name and a pronunciation key for the names. The pop-ups are first class (as always with Snappy books)! A favorite in our house!

5-0 out of 5 stars Colorful, Fun and Educational
My two year old son and I love reading this book together - the pop-ups are very colorful, imaginative and informative. We have some of the other SNAPPY books as well (colors, numbers, opposites, bugs, farm animals). My husband and I enjoy the books as much as my son! My son loves to point out different colors and really loves the wonderful pictures. It's a great book for the car as well - it keeps my son busy - he always seems to find something different with each turn of the page and giggles in delight .

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for kids
The best things about this book are the creative and detailed pop ups that mom and dad enjoyed as much as the kids. The text is fun and simple, perfect for young readers. My little boy looks forward to reading it every evening. It is a book that makes reading fun and interesting for beginners. I recommend it for anyone with young children and especially for kids reluctant to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars not the usaual boring pop-up book
This is one of several great pop-up books. The pages are colorful and very imaginative. The whole page comes to life. I'm very picky when it comes to pop-up books. I don't like ones that have just a face or a tail that sticks out, or things you have to pull to make it work. I just open the page and the giggles from my kids says it all. This book is fun for all ages {be mindful of little grabbing hands. } I find myself looking through it just for fun. They have one for bugs, farmland, Christmas, Halloween, opposites, numbers, and colors. I don't have them all but I will get them. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars disappointed - simple prose with difficult tabs
My 4 year old son and 1 1/2 year old daughter are McDuff fans, but I bought this book for my daughter. While the prose is age-appropriate for her, manipulating the tabs is too difficult for her. At first, she wanted to pull on McDuff or the bunny, but when I showed her she had to pull the tab, she tried that and couldn't do it. My son has trouble with about half the tabs in the book, but the prose is far too simple for him. He knows it's a baby book.

The book would have been much better with just lift-the-flaps. In that case, I could leave the book on a low shelf for my daughter to read any time, along with her other lift-the-flap books. Instead, I have to put it up high. I don't like doing that, but she will tear it in frustration if I don't.

Save your money for other McDuff books. You can't go wrong with the original McDuff books, and I saw the McDuff touch-and-feel book which looked fine for babies. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Help find Panda
My daughters (13 months and 2.5 years) enjoy Maisy books and this one is one of their favourites. Looking for Panda and eventually finding him brings cheers and hurrahs from both girls - they never seem to get tired of looking under the flaps to see if Panda is there. The book is made of nice strong card so no matter how many times you lift those flaps there is no chance of them being ripped off in the excitement of finding Panda!

5-0 out of 5 stars Teaching my toddler a love of books
My 18-month old daughter has loved this book for months, now. It has sturdy flaps that stand up to toddler curiosity. She finds the "oops, not in here" to be utterly hilarious, over and over and over again. I love all the Maisy books, but this one is great for early "readers" because it is so sturdy and the "plot" is simple. "Maisy" was one of her early words and she goes out of her way to track this book down and carry it around.

5-0 out of 5 stars The greatest children's books yet!
My son has 3 Snappy books, and we are eager to collect more. They are bright, colorful, and adorable. They are also some of the most sturdy pop-up books I've ever seen (after teaching preschool for years I am really impressed with the durability of these books). We bought our first Snappy book for my son when he was 9 months old, to try to interest him in books. He's now 2 and we read all three of his books at least once (usually twice nap & bed time)every single day. They are fun to read, even as often as we read them. They are also very educational. We do keep these books seperate from his others, so my son doesn't ruin them, but he's allowed to look at them on his own, as they are certainly sturdy enough, he just has to ask first! They are a fantastic buy. Although they seem a bit expensive for a child's book, they are worth every penny!

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids Favorite
My son received the Snappy Litle books when he was 18 months and loved the pop-up parts. The at 2 1/2 he could tell me the oppositea. I buy them for our friends now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Snappy Little Opposites
As with other Snappy pop-up books, the colorful pages of "Snappy Little Opposites" attract the attention of young children. The pop-ups cleverly incorporate the actions of the opposites (animals move up and down, open and close eyes, etc.). Claiminghe's too small to make more than a mouthful for the troll, and promising thathis big sister who is coming along soon will make a much nicer meal, Baby BillyGoat is allowed to pass. When Big Sister Billy Goat "trit trots" across thebridge, she pulls the same ploy. But the by-now ravenous troll is in for anextra large surprise when Big Brother Billy Goat makes his heavy-footedappearance ("Trit trot trit"). "I will not be your dinner, or anyoneelse's!" he declares. And "THUMP"--over the bridge and into the water the ogregoes, never to be seen again.

The retelling of this classic nursery tale has a highly entertaining twist: it'sa picture book and the setting for a puppet show! Each sturdy board pageopens up to be a stage, with a die-cut hole and four finger puppets to dramatizethe events of the story. Peter Stevenson's lively, witty illustrations of thelocal frogs and bunnies ineffectively tormenting the troll with squirt guns, slingshots, and spiders, are almost too much of a distraction--young readerscould spend hours chortling over the critters' antics before they even get totheir own performance! Be sure to read the other titles in the Finger PuppetTheater series, including Sleeping Beauty and The Three Little Pigs. (Ages 3to 6) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My 2 year old loves this book!
Being a toddler, my daughter likes saying "No, No, Jo!" and she feels like she has some control over her world (and she's "reading"). The Sam-Jen-Jo situations are very typical for her age group (selecting socks, brushing teeth, painting), and the pictures are colorful. (Plus we have a kitten ourselves to relate Jo's antics to!) A child who is testing out his/her independence would enjoy this book. It's also short enough for a parent to read over several times without getting too annoyed with the repetition that toddlers so love!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for toddlers!
This book is great for toddlers. My 22-month old son adores it! He loves repeating the refrain, "No, no Jo!" The illustrations aren't beautiful, but he doesn't care. All-in-all, a fun book.

5-0 out of 5 stars My kids love this book
My oldest daughter's first sentence was "No no, Jo!" I've already ordered a new copy of this to give to her when she's older since our first copy was worn out. I bought a copy for my brother-in-law's new baby but my two-year-old commandeered it so she could have a copy upstairs and one down. We love this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book to get toddlers interested in books
I bought this for my granddaughter when she was 18 months old...she loved it until about three. Now my grandson, age 20 months, brings it out whenever he sees me...or anyone else. His big sister can read it to him! So, it works on two levels!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Cute and Catchy!
I just received this book for my 2 year old girl, and she loves it. She actually wants to sleep with this book! She loves to repeat the pharse--No, No Jo! and of course I love to hear her say it. Being that she's a late talker, any book that can catch her attention like this is great for us! I really enjoy reading this to her, and she loves this mischevious cat! A great read for a 2 year old! ... Read more
