"How big is baby ostrich? SOOO BIG!" Young children will love liftingthe flaps to find out just how big each animal can be. The text is simple: "Howbig is baby...? SOOO BIG!" Lift the flap to see giraffes, owls, and snakesstretching and leaping to their fullest extent to impress the world with theirsize. The final page will be the favorite one, of course, as the questionchanges to "How big are YOU?" and a fold-out 22- to 48-inch ruler is displayedto be detached and mounted on the wall for kids to determine exactly how tallthey really are.

Charming illustrations, big and small, by beloved artist Dan Yaccarino (Circle Dogs, Zoom! Zoom! Zoom! I'm Off to theMoon!), delight the eye with their warm colors and personality, whilethe playful concept will surely appeal to every tot who dreams of growing talland strong. 4-0 out of 5 stars Great!
My 1 year old loves it. It is one of his favorite books at his granny's house. He even puts his hands up and says something that sounds like "so big".

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfullll1
My 9 month old daughter loves this book. It is her absolute favorite!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my 22 month olds favorites!!
Excellent book! Great repetition and wonderful illustrations! My 22 month old son loves this book. We read it almost every day. He loves to look at the pictures but his favorite part is when I ask how big each animal is and then he answers by raising his arms over his head while I say SOOO Big!

3-0 out of 5 stars A bit too simplistic.
My 14 mo. old daughter is not too interested. I don't think this lift-the-flap is challenging enough. It's cute enough, but I don't think the illustrations are very interesting to her. I guess it depends on your child's likes/dislikes. She's really enjoyed Dora the Explorer's Christmas Book-which has much more "busy" illustrations and oddles of flaps to lift.

3-0 out of 5 stars Too baby-ish for my 14 mo. old.
She's not too excited about this one. Better for the under 12 mo. crowd. Pics very simple and boring. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent First Bible
I purchased this book for my daughter to begin introducing her to God and the Bible. She LOVES this book (her Biba). The stories are very short and the pictures very colorful to help hold her interest. She 'reads and re-reads' this book herself (she's 22 mos old) and carries it with her to Sunday School. The handle makes it very easy to carry for her and the clasp helps keep the book closed when not in use. An excellent introduction to the Bible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very cute and to the point
This book is a sweet start for Bible stories. It has 10 stories which are: What God Made, Noah's Ark, Baby Moses, David the Shepherd, Daniel, Baby Jesus, Jesus at the Temple, Zacchaeus, Jesus stops a storm, and Jesus is Alive. The stories are short (about 6 sentences long) which is enough to give a child the "gist" of the stories without being too wordy and losing their interest. Some stories are in rhyme. I think this is a nice way to introduce little ones to the greater, more complex Bible stories.

4-0 out of 5 stars For both babies and parents.
Kids would love the book design: attractive handle and just the right size would make them want to bring it everywhere. Colorful illustrations, pleasant to look at but not too much details for the young eyes and imagination. Story is appropriately short and simple, with Scriptural verses that would make them appreciate the Bible. Parents would find value in those the sturdy baby-proofed pages that would last till your next baby! Reading this to your child would be a joy. Don't worry about your story telling skills: you'll get hints (cheat-lines) at the bottom of the pages suggesting actions or movement that would capture your child's attention. I gave this as a gift to my niece, and my sister requested for the rest of the series..... (which were just as good!).

5-0 out of 5 stars PERFECT FOR TODDLERS
THE SIMPLE LANGUAGE, PICTURES OF ANIMALS AND CHILDREN, AND SUGGESTIONS FOR COOPERATIVE PLAY MAKE THIS BOOK ONE OF MY TODDLER'S FAVORITE. HE LIKES THE STURDY PAGES, LITTLE CLASP (GOOD FOR FINE MOTOR SKILLS), AND HANDLE (TODDLERS LIKE ANYTHING WITH A HANDLE). I LIKE THE SIMPLE BIBLE STORIES AND THE POINT AND NAME ANIMALS. THIS BOOK IS PERFECT FOR INTRODUCING BABIES TO YOUR FAITH. ... Read more

Creator and engineer of the elegant Color Surprises and Black Cat, White Cat: A Pop-Up Book of Opposites, Chuck Murphy has also crafted an amazingly simple yet beautiful counting book, One to Ten: Pop-Up Surprises! This counting book doesn't mess around with fancy rhymes or cutesy sheep--open the first spread and you'll see a bold, fat number one--white on black--right next to a bold black number two on a white page. Pull the number one down, and one tropical spotted frog swims off the page! Lift and turn the number two to the right, and two toucans pop out from a leafy nest. Three colorful beetles crawl out of the number three with the slide of a tab. You get the idea--Murphy's almost breathtaking pop-up surprises take readers all the way to the number ten. Pop-up book collectors and budding bean counters alike will revel in this instructive, interactive masterpiece. (Ages 4 and older) --Karin Snelson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Fanastic, Entertaining and Educational Book
Chuck Murphy has that special talent to keep children occupied with entertaining and educational books. Although I find these books wear out fast, they are well worth the price. The colorful pop-outs and designs are excellent. Our son is two and a half years old and just doesn't quite yet posses the ability push and pull all of the props without tearing them.

5-0 out of 5 stars a delightful introduction to numbers for young and old
How lucky for children and adults that Chuck Murphy puts his considerable creative talents to the service of young children. All of his books are quiet little masterpieces, and One to Ten Pop-Up Surprises is one of the best.

Stark black and white numbers are lifted to reveal colorful frogs and birds, bugs and butterflies, cats, dogs, seashells and even little boys and girls. Three of the ten manipulatives are tabs, which are more difficult for young children, but any adult would be eager to help out with this beautiful book.

Our two-year old eagerly yells out each number and then counts the revealed objects. With this gorgeous teaching aid, learning is not only painless, but a pleasure.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bought it 2 times
My son is visually impaired and just loves this book. He actually learned how to crawl by his father and i sitting at opposite ends of the room and "reading" the book. He would crawl between us. I could get him to stop anything he was doing and crawl to the book. Then he wants you to read and read and read it. We read it so much in his first year, we had to buy it again. Yes it is not durable, but I don't think there is much to be done about that.

5-0 out of 5 stars incredible and appealing to babies and up
My son has loved these since he was about 8 mo, and now he is a pre-schooler. Well, as with all pop-ups, I always supervise, but this series has fairly simple engineering, so an over enthusisastic tug or rip is fairly easy to cellotape. Our four books have lots of tape, but they still work after three years of frequent use. The pop-ups and presentation are so appealing, you will never regret this purchase. An absolute classic for your childs library.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mind Ticklers for Children as Well as Adults
Chuck Murphy's creative way to stimulate and educate a child. The book consists of 10 colorful pop-ups which encourage children to ask questions about the things they are seeing in the pop-ups as well as to count.
Our two young boys, ages 2 and 4, take these books everywhere with them. During long automobile voyages or flights each book keeps the child's mind entertained for at least 30 minutes but not more than 1 hour and 20 minutes during any given trip.
We have already purchased the above book three times since it has sustained a lot of wear and tear from the mountains to the beaches. Chuck Murphy's books are tops with our kids. ... Read more

A companion to the popular One Yellow Lion and Fuzzy Yellow Ducklings, Matthew Van Fleet's Spotted Yellow Frogs is an engaging fold-out book for babies and preschoolers. Each spread introduces a new pattern, 3-D shape, and color. For example, one set of pages has the words "Striped Orange" on the left, and on the right is a striped orange cube entitled "Cube." Fold out the cube, and voilà! A pride of tumbling, striped-orange tigers appears. Young children will love the peek-a-boo approach of the book, but parents and teachers should let kids know that the patterns shown in the book are not necessarily the only patterns one might find in the animal kingdom. For example, beetles are not always "zigzag red" and butterflies aren't always "swirly purple." The book closes with a 36-inch-long, fold-out page featuring all seven shapes. Readers are asked to call out the names of the shapes, colors, and patterns, and to guess which animals hide behind each. The flip side shows a jumble of all the animals, so kids can pick out which animals are matched with the "wrong" pattern. Spotted Yellow Frogs is an excellent learning tool, and a book that children will want to read again and again. (Baby to preschool) --Aimee Damman ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a 2 year olds favorite
My son calls it the sticky tongue book. I like to call it a wonderfully illustrated and educational book for young children. 3d shapes are shown in different colors and patterns and then open up to show a scene of different creatures underneath. A red zig zag ball turns to a family of red zig zag beetles tickling each other and playing, one is eating and one is sleeping. My 2 year old loves the humor in the pictures. He asks to read this book every day.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for squirmy babies!
We got this book with a bunch of other hand-me-downs, and now I'm planning on getting the others from this author. My daughter is almost a year, and she gets squirmy every time we try to read any book but this one. With this book, she sits still, and looks so intently at the pages, laughing as we open each flap. Every time I say "the end", she signs "more". She could sit and read it over and over. While the shapes are more advanced than a baby will understand, I highly recommend this book for little ones, as well as preschoolers!

5-0 out of 5 stars My 3 year-olds new favorite
It's a good thing I love this book, because I've had to read it every day for the past two weeks and there is no end in sight to my son's enthusiasm. Not only is it a good introduction to complex shapes, but the illustrations are phenomenal. The animals are drawn with complex emotions on their faces that are fun to discuss with my child. From bored to exhausted to annoyed to surprised to delighted to perplexed and on and on, with small details in the background that my son loves to look for over and over. This one will be a gift to other children from now on.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very clever and fun to read
My 25 months old daughter liked the "Fuzzy Yellow Duckling" book she discovered at playgroup, and I decided that it was worth ordering from Amazon.com. While reviewing the selection by the same author, I ended up buying this one too. It hasn't been a disappointment, my daughter loves both books although I feel that this one is more suitable for slightly older children since the shapes it teaches are things like cubes, columns, wedges etc. Still, it's a great and very clever little book with a wonderful "ending" of double sided long "synopsis" of the book. I think I will buy the 3rd book by this author soon.

5-0 out of 5 stars 3-D Shapes Center Resource
I used this book in a learning center for a second grade class to reinforce the concept of 3-D shapes. They loved the illustrations which provided an excellent visual format for the concept. The minimal text makes it very readable yet the vocabulary is challenging enough for all reading levels. Considering it was written for preschoolers, the older kids loved it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book to share.
Thank God for the board edition of this book; we're now on our third copy (the plain-paper editions having been read ragged and the die-cuts torn up by over-eager fingers). Both my children have loved the graceful, affectionate rhymes and the wonderful, evocative illustrations. It's particularly fun to see a toddler's world that is so much the same and so different. Can you tell that we love this book?

4-0 out of 5 stars Replaced Good Night Moon
I bought this for my daughter when she was 1 yr. old but she was not interested. Now at 17 mos. old she won't go to bed until we read this book. All I have to say is "go get peek-a-boo" and she runs into her room and grabs the book. If read in a low key voice this book works great at night because the last page has the baby in his crib ... what did he see? It's a very sweet and different book for young children.

5-0 out of 5 stars My new favorite!
I read this book to my 21 month old grandson this last week during a visit. I fell in love with it and he seemed to enjoy it very much as well. It was the one book he brought to me to read time and again. I love the illustrations...they evoke a time and place I wish were still with us, but, sadly, I don't think we will ever see the likes of war-time England again (or the likes of war-time English people as well as Americans...."What? Us sacrifice?!!!"). Anyway, what a lovely, lovely book. I highly recommend it to all.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Cute, More Old Fashion Book
This book is great to start teaching your child the old game of peek-a-boo. The book is about what a little baby sees through the day. The baby can see through the circular cut holes through to the next page. Each page is a different scene in the day in the life of the family. To me it is amusing to see just how cluttered the family in the story is.

All three of my children have liked this book. It is worth the purchase!

5-0 out of 5 stars Peek-a-boo... I see a winner!
Based on the "peek-a-boo" game familiar to many babies, the poem prompts the toddler to "peek" at a variety of scenes in the life of a very chaotic family. Rhyme and repetition are used. The silent stress caesura is incorporated in order to present a familiar nursery rhyme-type feel for the listener. Many people have found this to be their own child's favorite book. There's a lot to look at! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My little one loves it
Okay, *I* may think it's boring and *you* may think it's boring, but my child ... loves this little book. It is frequently the one he chooses to have read to him, perhaps because each page is interactive.

One, of course, must pat the cat. Then you can extract money from the ATM and later put it into daddy's wallet. You can imitate mommy making a list, scratch and sniff the gingersnaps, help Neddy and Martha see-saw and play peek-a-boo, and squeeze the little bear before going to bed.

It is a fun, quiet little book that your child will enjoy. And you will too -- not because it's exciting, but because the time you and your child spend looking through it will be happy and peaceful.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is my toddler's favorite book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
My 9 month old adores this book. It has really bright colors and the touch and feel pictures are really a nice size so he is immediately drawn to them where other books seem to have a small touch and feel picture. I would definitely buy this book for a friend.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my son's all-time favorites
This is such a great book. The story is sweet, and the touch and feel part has been a big hit with my son for months....most children's books shouldn't be taken too literally. (Duh!) In THIS book, Sam is debating about what stuffed animal to take to bed with him. But, in the end . . . well, I won't spoil it for you. I cannot imagine anyone NOT liking this Story. It is adorable.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sweet Story!
On his way to bed, Sam the bunny, searches for a friend to help him fall asleep, and says, "With brave, furry Tiger, I won't be afraid of anything." The reader sees a large, orange-FURRY tiger with black stripes, and Sam who is dressed in SOFT, blue pajamas is carrying a teddy bear.

The story continues with Sam climbing on a blue-WRINKLED Elephant's back so he can touch the stars. Then he thinks about an orange-FUZZY Monkey, a yellow-FEATHERED Parrot, and a Crocodile's green-ROUGH back, but in the end decides a hug from Mama is best of all - red-CRIMPED, paper dress.

The illustrations are simply drawn, and brightly colored for a strong visual contrast; in addition, the animals are large, providing ample space for touching and feeling. My only objection to giving "Sweet Dreams, Sam" five stars is due to the taxing prose. When reading to children a rhythmic cadence facilitates better listening, and holds interest for longer periods, i.e. the reason Dr. Seuss's books are classics and nursery rhymes still exist. At any rate, the story is sweet and the "touch-and-feel" effect fascinates children.

Oh, as far as a previous posters comments concerning the crocodile page - I wouldn't want my son to play with Tigers, Elephant's, Monkey's, Parrots, or Crocodiles. The purpose of this book is to spark children's imaginations with creative thought, teach colors, animal recognition, and sooth them to "Sweet Dreams." I am sorry she missed the point. One-year and up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book to get little readers attention
My eight month old son loves this book. He enjoys putting his tiny fingers on the furry tiger, shiny elephant, and scratchy crocodile. The pictures are bright and fun and it's a very interactive book for young babies. This is our favorite book to read together.

2-0 out of 5 stars Lovely to look at, but...
Sweet Dreams, Sam, with its colorful drawings and "childfriendly" pages will appeal to any small child. The book's short and imaginative text makes, for the most part, great bedtime reading. However, "stars" had to be taken away, in my opinion, because of the crocodile page. Do we want to tickle our small child's imagination with the thought of stretching out on a crocodile's back or playing with the snout of such a beast? I discarded the book because one of the first 10 lessons for my child's life is to instill a fright of the dangerous crocodile/alligator. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sustained Laughter
We thought this would be a cute book for our soon-to-be five year old grandson. We were in for a treat. This was his first introduction to knock-knocks, and he began laughing harder and harder at each as he discovered the joke. "She was supposed to say 'I need a" but she said "Anita" (Bath, that is!) He giggled and roared, becoming almost breathless with laughter at each new knock-knock. Ten aren't a lot, but they certainly tired him out. What a delight to see! I'd like to see the author write some follow-up books. We've looked at other knock-knock books in the stores, but most of them have many jokes that presume a vocabulary or a cultural literacy beyond that of a five year old. This collection hit exactly the right keys.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I am very disappointed with this book :( I bought it for my 5yr son so I could help him learn some funny knock knock jokes. I thought I was buying a book FULL of fun knock knock jokes, but when it arrived and we first opened it.....we found a little book that looks like it's made for a 2yr old (has VERY babyish pictures and thick cardboard pages)!!! The biggest let down is that is only has TEN knock knock jokes!! Unbelievable. ... I'll just have to suck it up and search for a new knock knock book...

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT LITTLE BOOK OF KNOCK KNOCKS
I've been looking for a simple knock-knock joke book for my 4 and 5 year old nephews for months now...thank goodness this book came along! It only has a handful of jokes (10?)...but they all make sense and they're easy for the kids to remember too. The book has a neat setup. One page asks the question, then the facing page has a flap where you flip it over to reveal the punchline. Very cute. Much better than any of the "greatest" knock knock joke books I've seen. It's a good intro book, but I'd guess that older kids might not be too impressed with it since it is a very simple book. Perfect for my 4 and 5 year old nephews though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Knock Knock
Charming fresh pictures and seriously awful puns adds up to total delight for my five year old.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent-EXCELLENT! First Reader

With its simple rhyming text, vibrant pictures, "peekaboo" windows, and small board-book format, Ready, Set, Go! is ideal for curious young minds and hands. On alternating two-page spreads, the words "ready/set" are repeated, opposite an illustrated page with a die-cut hole. Readers guess what's behind each window, then turn the page to discover the text ("ROW!," "BLOW," "GROW!" etc.) and charming illustrations of a comically desperate sailor oaring away from circling sharks, a little girl blowing luminous bubbles. There's also a fantastic spinning flower that changes from yellow to purple with the turn of a tab. The book is sturdy enough to withstand the many happily clutching fingers that are bound to make their way into the baby-fist-size holes. For more peekaboo fun, investigate Nina Laden's Peek-a Who?. 5-0 out of 5 stars Six Month Wonder
My six month old loves this book. Now we say "ready, set, GO" everytime I'm picking him up, getting in/out of the car, etc. and he puts his arms out to "go".

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful interactive book!
This book, along with Peek-A-Who are my son's two favorites. He anticipates the next page, eagarly looking to me to say the words and loves the bright, vivid pictures. At age 9 months, Nina Laden's books capture his attention-- so much so that he loves to hold this book himself and look at the cover as he babbles! A terrificly done book, with simple text to read as you "surprise" your little one with the next phrase. I highly recommend this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars My twins love this book
I recommend getting this book along with Nina Laden's similar book, "Peek-A-Who?" This is a big hit with the girls, who really love the rhyming and are constantly fascinated by the stem that "blooms" into a flower at the end of the book. What a great idea!

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun book for the littlest readers
This book uses the time-tested techniques of rhyming and guessing to build vocabularies. Good for 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds, it's sturdy and visually exciting, pluses for parents who want to raise readers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolute must have!! A favorite at our house!
My son received this book as a gift for his first Christmas and has loved it ever since. It says it's for 18 month olds, but we started reading it when my son was 8 months old. He's now almost 3 and still loves it.

My son is also autistic and I would highly recommend this book for parents of autistic or developmentally delayed children. The story is very attention-grabbing and the flaps provide the anticipation needed to stimulate spontaneous speech.

Great book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sturdy lift-the-flap book; great fun.
My little guy received this for his 1st birthday and just loves it! He hasn't yet been able to rip the flaps off - as he has already done with so many of our other books. He enjoys the bright colors, lifting the flap to "peek-a-boo", checking out the different animals at the zoo and trying to open the owl's two flaps/wings. A lovely book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book - not just for the age limit.
We received this when my son was 15 months and he has loved it since. Initially, he just loved to lift the flaps, and it has handled his roughness. With the great pictures, we also use it to ask him to find an animal on a given page or within the whole book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for Baby's Library
I've been reading this to my daughter since she was 3 months despite the 18 month advisory. It is colorful, interactive and teaches, all in a sing song, rhymey way. No other book I've read my daughter so far has delighted like this one. Every peekaboo gets her to smile and laugh. On every page is a lift the flap with peekaboo underneath. Her favorite....Who's the tallest in the zoo....Here's a clue.....Peekaboo....under which you find the giraffe, of course. It continues on in this manner until the end with.... Monkey see, Monkey do....I see you...Peekaboo....under which you find a mirror. It's not very clear but my daughter loves it the same. I think it appeals to her because it's shiny. I usually have to read this 2 or 3 times before she's tired of it. It's one I won't grow tired of. I can't wait till she'll be able to enjoy the actual zoo. She might even be able to name some of the animals!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Book
This is my son's favorite. It is so fun to watch him learn with this interactive book. He is 7 mo. old and loves to open the flaps. It is very colorful and it seems the flaps with hold up for a long time. This book is better than any toy we have to calm him when he is fussy. I plan to include this with baby shower gifts in the future. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
My nine-month-old daughter LOVES Spot Goes to the Farm. She can lift all the flaps by herself. We love the board book edition -- it's so sturdy! This book is just plain fun! I can't recommend it enough!

5-0 out of 5 stars We love Spot
Spot the Dog books are a favourite with my girls. They love the simple stories that they can relate to (hiding, baking a cake, playing with others etc) and the lift-the-flaps always bring screams of delight even though we've read them many many times. As they grow I'm sure they'll be one of the books they learn to read with. The words are simple and the font easy to read. Lovely books to cuddle up with your children on your lap. They are also big enough to hold up and read to them as they sit in back seat on car trips.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Spot book ever!
My baby and I love this Spot Lift the Flap book. Only this one and Where Is Spot is in this sturdy board addition. The farm animals are so cute! Spot goes out looking for baby animals and finds some pigglets and kittens. My favorite page is Spot in the duck pond looking for Duckling. My baby loves to lift-the-flaps and this book calms her down when she is fussy. One of the all time best baby books on the market to me!

5-0 out of 5 stars Make the spot books a part of your toddlers library!
Make the spot books a part of your toddlers library collection. These books are durable, quick and easy to read and the "lift the flap" aspect makes them perfect for toddlers to join in. In this book, Spot the dog and his dad are looking for baby animals on the farm. This is a theme that children enjoy. The pictures are large and colorful and the story is simple, yet entertaining. This is a fantastic way to get children to brush their teeth. My 2 1/2 year old daughter likes to brush her teeth but after we got this book she now LOVES to brush her teeth "like the lion!" This is a must have book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb!
This book is simply amazingly done! I am very happy with it and I myself had some silly fun playing with it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for toddlers
My 2 year old immediately loved this book. We take it to the bathroom and he looks at it while I brush his teeth and he practices on the pop up pictures. He shows everyone who comes to the house this book and talks about the pop up animals and how to brush. I highly recommend this book to any parent having problems getting their small kids used to brushing and flossing.

5-0 out of 5 stars proud of her teeth and smile
This is one of my daughter's favorite books. We started reading the book with her, after we started brushing her teeth. She loves to brush the animals teeth, will use the lion's brush to brush mommy's or daddy's teeth and her own, and proudly shows her own teeth and smile in the mirror on the last page.

It would be great if each child who is starting brushing his/her teeth could have this book for him/herself!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best brushing motivator ever - encourages imitation!

This was my daughter's first Dora book, which we received as a gift for her first birthday, before either of us even knew who "Dora" is. My daughter fell in love with it and at 22 months, still asks to read it at times. She is now a big Dora fan. 5-0 out of 5 stars Take your child to the circus and never leave the couch!
I love ALL of these H.A. Rey "Lift the Flap" books. They are just well done and appealing. His art work is so innocent and perfect for children, a rare thing in this modern world of distorted, cartoon caricature-type art so prevalent in children's books today. I have 3 children, ages 19, 10, and 4 and ALL of them loved these books at certain times in their childhoods. In this one, it is very colorful and varied in its pictures of what you would see at the circus. It is one of our favorites in this series. I have never given this book to a child and not seen the child enthralled by it and going through it again and again, opening the flaps each time. If you are looking for a sure-fire hit for a small child (2-6 or so) then get this book. They can enjoy it themselves, and even if it becomes a favorite that mom and dad have to read over and over and over....(it's happened to me lots of times!), Mom and Dad will love it too, because it is not too long to get tired of. It is a very good price, and while a paperback, I find it sturdy. Our first set was bought 14 yrs. ago or so, and just now we had to replace them. These new ones are made of much sturdier paper. I guarantee you will like this book! And your child will too. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars My 1 year old loves this book!
My 1 year old son loves this book! He will rarely sit for any other book. We have yet to read the actual text, but he loves to play peek-a-boo with the animals. He stops fussing in his carseat when I hand him this book to look at. He can manage the sliding pages by himself. What a fun book. The illustrations are bright and alluring. Our favorite page is the gorilla. I plan on ordering more sliding surprise books!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for a Baby
My son has had this book since he was 3 months old, and is now 12 months. After he figured out, about a month ago, that we would read him any book he brought us, he started bringing us this book about 6 to 8 times a day! He simply loves this book and never gets tired of it. I'm thinking our copy is going to wear out soon. The frog page gets a giggle from him every time. A good investment if you have a baby.

5-0 out of 5 stars Guaranteed to get a smile...
We received this book as a baby gift from a thoughtful friend. We started reading it at bedtime (and now anytime) to our newborn and she just loves it. It is guaranteed to get a big smile from her. She's 6 months old now and gets a story or two every night before bed. Who's Peeking is definitely one of her favorites. She loves playing Peekaboo, so this book is great fun. The colorful pictures and simple text are great for little babies who don't have the patience for longer books. Yes, her little hands can't open the pages yet, but she's at a stage where she doesn't mind if Mommy or Daddy does all the work. We plan to give this as a gift to a friend's new baby.
Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bedtime routine
I got this for my son Graham's first birthday. He is almost 2 and we must read this every night before bedtime. If I try to skip it he stands up in his crib and points to his bookshelf until I grab Look Who's Peeking. I have bought this for other children as gifts. This needs to be on your child's bookshelf!

Great book but watch out for fustration
I say this cuz though I agree with all the reviews about what a great book this is, the pull out pages are alittle hard for small hands to slide in and out....leading to some fustration for toddlers who her do-it- themselfers or who say constantly "I DO IT!".....I began to avoid the book at reading time just cuz of this cuz my daugheer would get upset at not being able to do it.....luckily after awhile my daughter came to terms that if she wanted to read the book I'd have to slide out the pages for awhile...last time we read it at 25 mos., she slid them out fine....back in was alittle harder..: )

But I agree, a great, fun, colorful book... ... Read more

Whether she's sipping nectar from beautiful flowers, avoiding hungrybirds and fish, dancing with a butterfly, or bravely protecting her entire hivefrom a big bear with an even bigger appetite, this honeybee is always on themove. Eric Carle's updated classic features truly inspired feats of paperengineering, including a galloping bear and a spectacular butterfly that looksas if it will take off at any moment. There's not a gratuitous pop-up, flap, ormovable piece of art in the book; readers will gasp with delight at every page, with every reading. 5-0 out of 5 stars THE KING OF COLORFUL COLLAGE DOES IT AGAIN!
Eric Carle, the king of colorful collage, has been delighting young readers for sometime now. This sturdy board book reissue of his 1981 classic is simply another jewel in his crown.

Bug-eyed, red nosed and eager, a honeybee exhorts her neighbors to go out and gather nectar. Pull a tab, and you'll see her fly. Another tab opens flower petals so the bees can sip nectar.

She's a swift honeybee, this one, as her tab-told story unfolds - she escapes a bird, a fish, and a frog to play with a vibrant winged pop-up butterfly.

But once she returns to her hive she hears a frightening noise. She thinks it must be a robber. What kind of a robber would try to steal their honey? What can the bees do to defend themselves. Pull some more tabs, and you'll see.!

Easy for young hands, a delight for young eyes, and a smile for the young at heart.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful interactive addition to our Eric Carle library.
My children and I always anxiously await any new addition to our Eric Carle library. It's hard to believe that our next book will meet our high expectations, but they always do. The honeybee and the Robber was a new angle to his interactive collection which we thoroughly enjoyed. My children had plenty of opportunity to share the moving pictures and read the book over and over. The beauty of this book is that the children enjoy "reading" it to themselves using the moving parts to stir their imagination ... This is a wonderful book! I bought this book for my 1 1/2 year old daughter and when I opened it, I mean actually sitting down and paying attention, I was in love with this book as well as my daughter!
