5-0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to pop-ups
My 10-month-old son can be immediately quieted with this book. He's clearly fascinated by the "magic" of the appearing and disappearing pop-up panels.

There's no variety in the way the pop-ups work from page to page -- they all are triggered by pulling a tab at the side of the page, and they all pop up in exactly the same place in exactly the same size.

But the story is good, the illustrations are colorful and clever, and it's the littlest readers are amazed. I've been searching for its equal, but haven't found it yet. All other pop-ups are too easy to tear or grab.

In other words, although adults may fault it for lacking variety, young children don't seem to be bothered by that. And its sturdy construction makes it a very worthwhile buy. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars adorable book
The pictures are quite endearing and detailed with lots of things to point out and talk about. The little latch is a hit. We must operate it at every page!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for babies!
The moment my 2 yr. old daughter saw the book, she never let go. Every night, we both cuddle up & look at the very colorful pictures with cutouts on each page. I make up stories on each page & also read to her the simple prayers that she could learn as she grows. Since the pages are made of hard board, they are perfect for tiny, experimenting hands which turn each page awkwardly with too much excitement. Furthermore, the lock at the side makes it easier for those tiny hands to carry. No more flapping pages! These little inquisitive kids will not only learn to read but also harness their motors/skills by opening/closing the lock. Another big plus is the handle which allows the children to hold/carry the book very conveninently wherever, whenever. I highly recommend this book to all your toddlers!

5-0 out of 5 stars Baby's First Bible
This is an enjoyable colorful bible for babies. The colors and the stories are a fantastic way to Introduce baby or toddler on the bible. This little beginning makes it fun and easy for mom and dad to explain further the stories that are told, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great gift for Baptisms!
I have given this book to many babies on the day of their Baptism. The babies love to look at the pictures, and parents rave over the cute book. As kids get older, its a great take-along to church. They love that they can carry it themselves with the handle!

5-0 out of 5 stars Precious little book for precious little readers!
Our 7 month old granddaughter LOVES this book. The illustrations are stimulating--so much to look at on each page. And the sweet prayers are something she can learn as she gets older. This is a board book ( with handle, too!) and Olivia loves turning the pages herself! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book!
We first bought this book for our son last year. It was one of his first pop up books. He's now 19 months and still loves the book. He tore up the first one out of sheer love of it. He's now on his second one. I'm convinced the Snappy popup books as well as the Busy Bugz popup books are responsible in part for his love of reading. He throws an occassional tantrum when we have to take the book away from him. The pop up art is fabulous and colorful. The rhyms are fun to read, short enought to keep his attention. The art is fun to play "I spy" with as well -- so much to look at on each page.

5-0 out of 5 stars not too painful to read repeatedly
Our eleven-month old son loves pop-up books and this is one of his favorites. Written in rhyme, the wording is clever enough for parents while the illustrations and pop-ups are eye-catching enough to keep his attention. I highly recommend this book for babies ages six months and up. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Where's the Goat?!
It's amazing what you can remember from childhood.I haven't thought of this story much less recited it in over 30 years, but after the dog, I started to sing about the goat, but it wasn't there! Both my kids love this book!We have read/sung it so much that my 3 year old is "reading/singing" the story, after only having the book for 3 days.My 9 month old loves the contrasting colors, that and because mom makes funny faces reading/singing the story. But mom, dad, and "uncle", want to know; "where's the Goat?"It should come after the dog and before the cow.For this, I can only give 4 stars.

For those who want to sing the story to your kids, or spouse for that matter, add these lines in after the dog and before the cow:
There was an old lady who swallowed a goat.
Just opened her throat and swallowed a goat!
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog ...

5-0 out of 5 stars On Our Third Copy...
This book is an instant classic. We have completely worn out two copies at our house and are now on our third.

Although you've heard the "Little Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" story many times, you've never seen illustrations (or a running commentary) like this. You'll laugh at every page (and maybe join the author in a good cry at the end).

Your kids will never get tired of this beautiful book!

5-0 out of 5 stars If you eat too much junk you'll get very sick.
My Grandaughter and I loved this book. It's the best version I've read to date.

You can see inside the old ladies tummy through a hole in each page everything that she has eaten. It's easy for your child to follow the story as the see through holes help them remember what she ate.The more she eats the fatter she gets eventually dying.A morbid end to a famous story, but fun to read none the less.

A wonderful book to add to you personal library.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun to Read
I don't know of many stories that are more fun to read.My daughter loves the animals and the bright pictures. The words will keep her attention through about half the book usually. She is still young though and some of the pages towards the end get a little long. The book is probably better suited for children 2 and older.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this story
I love to read this book the children in school.

4-0 out of 5 stars 4 1/2* Hide and Seek at Spot¿s Birthday Party
Spot plays hide and seek at his birthday party in Eric Hill's great series for both young and slightly older toddlers. The guests are hidden under flaps, but both Spot and your reader can find clues to who's hiding even before lifting the flap (e.g., a silhouette, a banana peel, his mom's tail sticking out from beneath a table). Bright colors and a variety of uncovered animals make this a fun book, though the title is a bit misleading. The book really has very little to do with Spot's birthday until the very last page, when all the animals are shown bringing presents. The bold black text also makes this a nice book for the beginning reader. 22 pages.

3-0 out of 5 stars Its spots birthday
its spots birthday every one and he is having some friends over and they decide to play hide and seek he finds bear be hind the curtin snake is hiding in the cabnit but he cant seem to find monkey then he finds him and they party Happy Birthday Spot

5-0 out of 5 stars First Graders LOVE Spot Books!!
Our names are Jacob Kwoka and Javeon Tomlinson. We LOVE all the Spot lift-the-flap books! Our Favorite books is Spot's Birthday Party. We like when Spot and his friends play hide-and-go-seek. We hope Eric Hill writes lots and lots of Spot lift-the-flap books!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Inappropriate for the Baby/Preschool age, as recommended
I was disappointed with "Spot's Birthday Party" because the format was totally inappropriate for the Baby/Preschool age-group I searched/purchased under. The inside pages are paper (which, believe it or not, isn't an issue even tho I have 2-year-old twins). The problem isn't the paper, per se, but that it's paper pages WITH FLAPS for the kids to open and close. My kids are gonna want to open those flaps, and since the pages/flaps are flimsy paper instead of cardboard, those flaps are going to stay on for only two or three readings--max. [Suggestion: the only lift-the-flap books that you recommend for this age-group should be cardboard books with cardboard pages.] ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars not the best sticker book
This sticker book has some points to recommend it -- the vinyl stickers and glossy pages mean that the stickers really are reusable, the story itself is proven entertaining by the many children and parents who love it, and the colors are very cheery. Given that, however, this doesn't really make a very good sticker book. Maybe if the letters on the pages were just outlines and kids stuck the stickers over the outlines it would be a little more fun, or maybe if there were another scene after the storybook where you could place the stickers it would be fun, but as it is all you do is plaster the sticker over an identical picture of the letter within the action of the story -- not really interesting or challenging, and a bit expensive for the privilege. Just my opinion, but you'd be better off buying a nice big edition of this fun book rather than getting this sticker edition.

1-0 out of 5 stars These stickers do NOT stick!
Chicka chicka abc is a great book for little ones. My daughter memorized it on first reading (2 yrs old). But this sticka version of the book is not worth the money. We just received our copy from ... and the "reuseable' stickers do not stick. They come off almost immediately and my daughter is NOT impressed. Neither am I. Save your money, get the abc book or the full length version for an older child and try some of the many online book related activities you can find for this book on the web. For example my daughter and I just printed out a coconut tree picture and then using normal alphabet stickers we had in the house she proceeded to recreate the letters climbing up the coconut tree. MUCH more fun!

1-0 out of 5 stars Good for learning letters
My two and a half year old daughter does enjoy this book when I read it to her and help her with the stickers. It is nice that the stickers are actually vinyl and can be reused easily. If your child is into sticker books, however, this one could be a disapointment. It just has letters...not too much of interest there.

"Emergency! Emergency! Calling the Little Green Tow Truck to the main highway, intersection one.... A red convertible needs a tow."

With a little help from young readers, the spunky little tow truck is on the job. Turn the key, put on the turn signal, check the map, and away we go! Maneuvering through a traffic jam, the truck reaches the convertible and hooks it up with a towline, then cranks the handle to lift the front end. Now it's just a matter of slipping past the giant trucks at the traffic light and finding the way to the garage for repairs. This interactive mini board book will enthrall any child who has entered that developmental phase characterized by an obsession with all things truck. Readers pull, flip, flap, and slide the merry green tow truck through its mission, and cheer at a job well done.

Be prepared for some repairs on the little green truck itself: small, eager fingers will make quick work of the sturdy--yet never sturdy enough--tabs and flaps. For more fun with transportation, collect Ken Wilson-Max's other interactive board books: Little Red Plane, Big Silver Space Shuttle, and Big Blue Engine. (Baby to Preschool) --Emilie Coulter ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great for church or the car!
This book is great for when we need to have our children- ages one and three- entertain themselves quietly. It is perfect for church and its small size allows me to keep it in my purse or diaper bag for other times. There are a lot of parts for them to move or connect with each other. However, I do agree that the parts are not very durable and we are now on our second copy of the book- but it is well worth the money!

3-0 out of 5 stars Please make the moving parts sturdier!!
We have bought 5 of Ken Wilson-Max's books--2 of the titles twice over because they fell apart badly. As much as our 2-1/2 year old son loves the stories, pictures and movable parts, the moving parts lasted average of 3 readings before they came apart. Only if Mr. WIlson-Max could come up with ways to reinforce those moving parts so that they will last long enough to pass the books down to our infant son . . . I would be happy to buy all his titles over again for our younger son, if a new version with sturdier moving parts became available.

5-0 out of 5 stars Little Green Tow Truck
We have the 4 -7 year old version and our grandchildren love it. It's a bit too fragile for the young kids so we are ordering a replacement because they use it so much.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book for toddlers. Moving parts are too delicate.
My 2-year old son really enjoyed all the moving parts, especially the one where you can have the tow truck lift the car. He can't really do it alone. We let a couple of five year-olds play with it for a few minutes and they immediately wrecked the "lifting the car" feature. It DOES make my son laugh out loud, though, and that counts for a lot. We just use it with supervision. ... Read more

Daddy Hugs is, literally, one of my little PeaPod's favorite books.Hartley, our 16 month-old daughter, points and grunts her need to have Daddy Hugs read aloud more than all our other books.(Over 50!)She now demands that I wait before asking her to "turn the page" so that she can squiggle in and give a hug!Hartley actually refuses to turn the page, if I do ask her, until she has successfully achieved her intense & aggressive hug!The pix capture her attention, the layout is simple yet very clever and effective. Our next step is to get her on video as I read Daddy Hugs with, and to, her! Thanks. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars They don't rhyme
This book is supposed to teach the babies and little children about words that rhyme...such as "jug-bug", "wall-ball" and many more. Unfortunately Aigner-Clark didn't try hard enough to find these words..."chair-bear", "dollhouse-mouse", "sky-dragonfly", and also "door-drawer"...i don't think these words rhyme very well and I felt so silly when I read these books to my children...If only I could give these book "zero star"...

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
This book is great. Each page has colorful pictures with a 2-line rhyme. There are also 2 flaps to lift. The first page has flaps for chair and dollhouse. When you lift the chair flap, there is a bear. When you lift the dollhouse flap, there is a mouse.

Why only 4 stars?
The flaps, even though they are made of a heavy, cardboard-like material, tear. I wish there was some reinforcement on the crease of the flaps to help prevent tearing.

The best to encourage your child to read is to have books in the home.

5-0 out of 5 stars REVIEW
The photos are clear, book is well put to together...especially when vocabulary begins to "explode." My 22 months old has enjoyed this book for at least 5 months now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
My daughter was 12 months when I bought this for her. She LOVES it. I took it on an airplane and we spent at least an hour looking at it. She loves to open and shut the flaps. If we have company over, she will go from person to person to look at the book with her. I have to hide it sometimes because she pulls on the flaps to hard when she is looking by herself and rips them on accident. This also goes good with Jane's Animal expedition. ... Read more
