5-0 out of 5 stars GET A "FEEL" FOR FOOTBALL!
If you like football you'll love this book! My 10 month old picked it up and kept saying ball, ball pointing at the cover. He said "Ooh!", "Oh!", "Wow!" as he touched each of the items and heard what they were. He loves the touch and feel books and will pick those over his others again and again. Maybe your child will too! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars This book is too old for 16 month old Ayla
Ayla has little interest in this book for some reason so I rated it with 3 stars. However, later on I'm sure she will love it as it is beautifully illustrated with many bedtime items to touch and feel. She just loves lifting the flaps books, I'm afraid.

5-0 out of 5 stars Touch and Feel Bedtime
I bought this for my daughter when she was 10 months old and she LOVED it! At first she wasn't sure what to do, other than opening each page, but by taking her hand and rubbing each item, she quickly caught on. Also, it's a nice thick board book, which made it perfect for her little hands to hold on to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Short sentences, fun textures...
The Touch and Feel Bedtime storybook has entertaining textures on five pages. On the opposite page, there is one sentence telling the child to feel the texture. All the pages are durable and have beautiful clear photographs of children getting ready to go to bed.

The first page has a fuzzy fleecy bathrobe material securely glued into the book page. The second fabric is orange and has a rubbery tread. This is inserted into a picture of a slipper. A funny frog flannel mitt shows how children wash their faces before they go to bed. For the all important toothbrush routine, a clear orange toothbrush handle is found with a sentence that says: "Feel the bumpy toothbrush handle." On the last page a child is sleeping under a blue comforter cover material.

A cute texture book for very young children. Teaches the feel of textures and their descriptive words: fleecy, rubbery, soft, bumpy, cushy.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Toddle's favorite!
My son Ryan is 3 and still loves this book. The predictability and flaps make it very fun and interactive for him. He has loved it for 3 years now!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great 1st book for baby!
This was the first book my son read from cover to cover! He loved the hidden animals under the bed, in the closet, etc. Would crack up when my husband and I would make the animal noises when he'd lift the cover. You won't regret buying this favorite!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Real Gem
This is a wonderful book, and not just for very little children. As a reading specialist in an elementary school, I have found that children in all the primary grades love to search for Spot with his mother. Children have the fun of lifting the various doors, lids, etc. trying to find Spot, while parents can encourage prediction of just where the little guy will be found. I have seen children request this and other books in the series over and over again. I'm buying it for my first grandchild - high praise from me. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Cute Book, Bad Format
As usual, the story & illustrations are great but the "puzzle" pieces actually detract from this book. They are difficult for little hands to put back in properly (think inexpensive cardboard puzzles from the five & dime store) and after a bit fall out easily and get lost. It's a nice idea in theory but needs some work.... I'd stick with the basic books instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEDTIME FUN
THIS IS A LITTLE STURDY BOARD BOOK APPX 6 INCHES BY 6 INCHES. IT CONTAINS 5 STORY PAGES & 5 PAGES TO MATCH THE PUZZLE TO THE STORY. WHEN YOU OPEN THE BOOK THE FIRST & SECOND PAGES CONTAIN THE 5 PUZZLE PIECES TO GO ALONG WITH THE FOLLOWING STORY. WE DID NOT UNDERSTAND THIS BOARD BOOK PUZZLE CONCEPT UPON ORDERING BUT WERE HAPPILY SURPRISED, AS OUR 2 YR OLD BOY HELD THE PIECES AND ON THE SECOND READ KNEW TO MATCH UP EACH PIECE TO THE CORRECT PAGE. KIPPER & HIS BEDTIME PALS ARE COLORFUL & ADORABLE AND WE HAVE ALREADY ORDERED THE MATCHING BATHTIME-PLAYTIME & SNACKTIME. THE MOON PUZZLE PIECE HAS TO BE TURNED TO JUST THE RIGHT PLACE TO GET IN ITS PLACE -SUGGESTION THE MOON PIECE IS A CIRCLE AND THE PICTURE IN IT IS A HALF MOON IT FITS PERFECT WHEN THE YELLOW CRESENT IS ON THE LEFT HANGING AS IT WOULD IN THE SKY.

3-0 out of 5 stars Manufacturer's need to make the pieces easier to insert
I bought this book for my 18 mo. old, not because of Kipper (he hardly watches TV so he doesn't even know who Kipper is) but because I like the concept of the puzzle pieces. He loves the book, but we always have a hard time fitting the pieces back into their spots. The moon doesn't even fit back into its spot, so it's usually missing from the book because it keeps falling out. Pretty annoying.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Puzzle and book in one!
My toddler loves Kipper, so this book was a must have. Though it features few photos and not much text, the book does include several punch out puzzle pieces that can be fit into the appropriate spaces in the pages that follow.

Matching such shapes as a moon and a toothbrush into their proper places proves fun for little readers. Beware, however -- once the pieces are removed from the book and bent ever so slightly, they have a hard time remaining in their respective slots. We have several titles in this series, and I am forever finding the puzzle pieces lying around the house, away from their books! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars lots of fun things to count
My three year old enjoyed counting the objects in this book. There are many fun objects and with creative use of flaps, textures, etc. My favorite one is a train with five cars, and each car has a flap you can lift to show five of another object. This book has no text, just large numbers from one to ten with corresponding objects clearly labeled. The objects are arranged in different ways, ie, they are not in neat rows. It is challenging therefore to count them without counting each one more than once. But I feel it is good practice in using a one-to-one correspondence between objects and numbers as you count.

5-0 out of 5 stars MY KID LOVES THIS BOOK
My 16 month old son has lots of books, but this one is his favorite. It is very coloful, has lots of things to manipulate, and has many busy bright things to look at. Most of the lift up flaps, etc are easy to manipulate, but without adult supervision, I know that he would tear them apart. ... Read more

Preschoolers will want to return to this vivid, lively interactive board book again and again to identify all the alphabetically organized words. Every two-page spread features four to seven letters and is packed with crisp captioned photos of people, activities, and familiar objects. Among the many pictures are 45 flaps young readers can lift for still more alphabetical delights: lift the wing of the flying bird for a picture of feathers. Under pizza is, of course, a plate. Behind the window is a girl with a watering can. Kids will giggle at the touches of humor in the book. Behind the flap of the girl is a picture of the same girl wearing very goofy glasses. Two kids stand side by side under the letter K; lift the flap to see one kid trying to kiss the other.

DK Publishing's signature style, with its beautifully photographed subjects, will be very familiar to fans of the many other My First Word books, including My First Number Sticker Book, My First WordLift-the-Flap Board Book, and My First Animal Board Book. 5-0 out of 5 stars A FUN BOOK
This book is fun! It is also a great educational tool. The pictures are big, bright, and bold...just right for young eyes! We gave this to my great-neice for Christmas. She unwrapped lots of gifts that night (even some dolls). However, she went straight for this little book. Carrying it around all night looking under the flaps, saying "Look Momma!!!!!". That's proof enough right there!

4-0 out of 5 stars My One Year Old Loves this book!!
What I appreciate about this book is that the pictures are actual photographs rather than drawings. Most books for babies tend to be cartoon drawings and it makes it confusing for children to learn the words for things when they try to relate to a cartoon dog versus a real dog (for example). This book shows many, many pictures and words of real everyday things. The flaps add even more fun to the book and really get the babies involved.

4-0 out of 5 stars Colorful and Fun - a great combination
Trying to get two year old active twins to sit with a book is very difficult. I was thrilled to see a lift the flap book (which they love) combined with learning the alphabet. The size of the book is large so both boys can see and play with a page at the same time. They get a little frustrated when not every picture has a flap to lift to show another picture but they are definitely engaged and interacting with this book and the letters -- just what we wanted! ... Big brother Arthur remembers how it was when his sister D.W. was first born. Boring. But just at first. Then they started having fun. Reminiscing about playing peek-a-boo, spitting up, and learning the alphabet and nursery rhymes, Arthur helps D.W. get used to the idea of another brand-new baby in the house.

Whether they've just become big siblings for the first time or have a slew of sisters and brothers crawling around underfoot, young readers will love lifting the flaps to learn about what to expect with a new baby. Pretty soon, they may even embrace their role, when they start introducing Sis or Junior to the delights of Humpty Dumpty, the ABCs, and dress-up. Most importantly, readers will be reminded that they are still loved, even if the baby seems to be getting an awful lot of attention.

Marc Brown, creator of the world's favorite aardvark, Arthur (Arthur's New Puppy, Arthur's Birthday), offers a lighthearted, sensitive, and humorous perspective on the sometimes traumatic new-baby event. With more than 40 flaps to lift, including alphabet blocks (p is for pacifier, n is for night-light) and baby gifts, as well as holes to make wiggling finger rabbit ears, this latest in the Arthur series is a sweet look at sibling love. 5-0 out of 5 stars Delighful, Engaging and Helpful
Not just for kids, the Amazon sales ranking for this book of 1,816 proves that Marc Brown's works appeal to all.

"Arthur's New Baby Book" is an excellent story, both about Baby Kate and how D.W. and Arthur relate to her when she first joins the household. Each page is fully illustrated, and there are an enormous amount of flaps. My only complaint is that some of the flaps seemed a bit hard to open, but perhaps that's just me. The book itself was top-notch in all ways. If you haven't bought this yet, please do so, it is well worth your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have for flapbook and Arthur fans!
This has been a favorite in our house for over a year. My 4 year old loves this book because (1)it is an Arthur book and (2)it is a lift-the-flap book. This book is a great gift for a new big brother or sister. One of the pages shows the new baby crying for several different reasons. By lifting the flaps you find out what made the baby stop crying (sleep, food, fresh diaper.) I liked the pages of nursery rhymes. There are over 40 flaps to open and several wiggle fingers (put your fingers through holes and wiggle them to make ears or legs). Bottom line is that this book is a safe bet for the toddler set!

4-0 out of 5 stars Arthur's Baby
This is a touching book. It tells Arthur's story as a new baby comes in to his house. It also shows how he adjusted to his new life stlye.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great For New Big Brothers Or Sisters
This book is great for younger children who are nervous about the new baby that is going to arrive. There are good pictures and it shows how many kids feel and how to handle the new child. Plus it shows just how much fun having a younger sibling can be.

1-0 out of 5 stars This book is typical Arthur material -- bratty.
This is typical Arthur. DW is pretty negative about Baby Kate entering the household. At one point she proclaims "Babies are boring" Later she commiserates that everything seems to be about the baby and not about her anymore.

While kids probably do have these emotions, I don't like the book putting words to them or validating them. Whenever I read this book I change the words to be more positive.

Also, it has some nursery rhymes, one of which goes something like "God bless the moon, God bless me". Not something that fits my personal style so I have to change this, too, to "The moon is special and so are you"

Overall, I much prefer the "I'm a Big Brother / Big Sister" books to Arthur. That being said, my 2 year old liked both books and still asks for them now at 2 1/2 even though the baby is 6 months old. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Master Pieces for Little Artistic Eyes
I bought this book for my 1 year twin. Although they still can't understand the questions but they like the real master pieces and their colors.

This book has five master pieces. Each one with a question that helps the child to express his feeling and to use his imagination. Then there are 5 questions with lift-the-flap answers about an element in the spread which gives the child opportunity to:
1. see the work as a whole and as a small parts.
2. associate isolated elements in the masterpiec with objects in his or her world.

For example, in the third page we have Pierre-Auguste Renoir, The Luncheon of hte Boating Party, the main question is asking about the people in the pic. and ask the child to imagin himself sitting with them, what he will smell and hear and what would he eat?. One of the lift-the-flap questions is: People often drink from this. As a hint, it starts with the letter "G" the answer is on one side of the flap "Glass" on the other side is: a painted glass from the spread itself.

The only bad thing about this book is that it is not sturdy enough esp. for those babies who like to eat the book corners. this book has to be used under your suppervision.

My children and I like this book and I believe they will like it more when they are older. when we can ask, answer and discuss these questions together ... Read more

This is a terriffic book for use in the music classroom, and at home. As a book that can be either sung or read, it is versatile. It's large size and colorful illustrations draw kids attention. I have personally found it to be very effective with my kindergarten through third grade students. I highly reccommend it to anyone looking for a good book for younger kids that can be sung or read! I highly suggest Pam Adams books.

My 2-year-old loves to sing the song along with me, and loves to hold this sturdy book. The illustrations are eye-catching and hold his interest until we finish the song. The rhythm of the tune helped him learn more complex word patters like "came rolling home." It is printed in bright colors, on thick paper, and can withstand some toddler handling. 5-0 out of 5 stars Such a delight!
The best of all the Maisy's yet. Such a joy to read, it is educational, informative, and compelling reading. It kept me hooked for all of the time i read it. Could not put it down and could not leave it alone. And i really couldn;t work out the ending i thought it was the butler!
