Book Description Reviews (7)
The quality of art is not just excellent, it's outstanding. This is as close to three-dimensional material as there was at the time it came out---and there's more comics by the artistry team that's just as comparable. Colours are sharp, tone vibrant, texture and shadowing detailed. Illustrator Duursema shows what comics are supposed to one, and it's the cynical frog who decides to hop past her future SW works. Dialogue is slick, Villie the Devaronian slicker still. The shifty dealer's quixotic manner of speech takes some getting used to, about as long as why he never stops grinning. Ostrander is quite adept at scripting his work and ensuring readers have just enough info; the short bio when visiting the Kiffu and Ryloth systems are particularly helpful for those unfamiliar with such locales or just to refresh memories. Quinlin Vos takes the spotlight, a Jedi that cameos briefly in the previous comic Emissaries to Malastare. And waking up inside a burning room on the lawless environs of Nar Shardda with goons gunning for your hide, you know you have the premise of a hand-slap plot that's just too good to put down. Vos must regain his memory while partnering with a two-timing Devaronian that can be trusted as far as his sorry carcass can be thrown. The search to work out what in tarnation happened to him is only the beginning, a quest that will lead him to a sinister narcotic operation, corrupt politicians and his own apprentice, that blue-skinned Twi'lek you saw in AOTC Aayla Secura. The very characters are creative and nothing generic. Vos looks North American native Indian, a unique appearance previously unseen in SW comics; inspired from the brief snapshot you see of him in Phantom Menace, when Selbulba threatens Binks. His Guardian heritege lets him pull psychic images off objects, quite handy for detective use. Villie is not your typical rogue either, though he gets a bit indignant when you question his loyalty. "Of course you can trust Villie. Is money involved, isn't it?" Read those energy spiders in the Jedi Search novel? Well, see them here, as long with guest star appearances from Bib Fortuna, Mace Windu and of course Sidious himself. You also get an assortment of aliens unseen before along with the familiar. All comics from the Ostrander-Duursema team are aptly titled: Twilight's double meaning reflects Vos's skirting the dark side as he attempts to reeducate his understanding of the Force, and the illicit business conducted on Ryloth's narrow twilight surface, where night and day exist together from a world's slow rotation. Overall, Twilight is one of the best you can get, with better yet still to come from this pair.

I have been critical of dark horse for the short cuts it has taken in the past. But here they have a solid winner. This is my current favorite comic. It was a blast to read it with my 6 year son. We have read through it 3 times. The next comic in the series is DARKNESS which also features Quinlan and Villie. I love the star wars novels, even the child oriented ones. I started buying the comics mostly because my ADHD son needs the pictures and the action presented in the medium of a comic. This made it possible for me to share and read with him. I don't want to get sappy, but these two TPB's starring Quinlan and Villie are just what I hoped that i would find. We have enjoyed others together, but these are the best. Thankyou!!! Word of caution about the bindings. The new production procedures that are creating such great looking comics, are also making for comics that fall apart much more easily than they used to. So... either handle with great care or never touch or read them. 2 thumbs up for the comic story and artwork. 2 thumbs down for the binding.

First off, the art. The late Eddie Buikovic's second and last art job in the world of SW comics is even better than his one with 'The Phantom Affair'. The detail is incredibly, with gorgeous views of Coruscant, Mount Tantiss, and even Hijarna. The characters are all done very well, also. The movie cast looks just like they did on the screen and original characters like Pellaeon, Mara, Karrde, Ferrier, and so forth are done better here than in the other two adaptations. The one qualm I have with the art is that the coloring switched halfway through. Pamela Rambo's watercolor-type style worked better in the 'Dark Force Rising' adaptation, but its just doesn't fit well with Buikovic's style. Thankfully, the second half is done by Dan Brown, whose style resembles 'The Phantom Affair's masterful colorist, Dave Nestelle. My one qualm with the art is that it's not always faithful to the 'real' SW universe. Craft like Chariot LAVs, the Golan IIIs at Bilbringi, and Ferrier's DP20 gunship don't look a thing like they 'actually' do. I'm willing to overlook it, still, because Buikovic's art made the adaptation of 'The Last Command' That said, its a very well done adaptation that retains the spirit of the novel itself and created a gorgeous, almost cinematic, feel to it as well. Highly reccomended.

This book takes place during the events of Ep1 and the next few days after so I have it at [money amount]on the SW timeline. The book includes the clone wars timeline that existed when it was published in April 2003. It is written for an age level of about 8 to 11 year olds which is why I can only give it 2 stars since I have children who are in there 20s. But it does contribute to the overall SW story and can be read very quickly. We learn only a little bit that is new. For a real understanding about Jango, Check out the comics because they provide a lot of details we don't learn elsewhere yet. This book can be a nice reader for an adult to share with their children. What Lucas licensing is doing is telling the story through various media like books for children, comics, novels and the movies. Each is fitting together very nicely evidencing so excellent advance planning. I also recommend the comics from Dark horse. Though the comics are harder to read for younger children than this book, the illustrations are rich and detailed. My son prefers that I read the comics with him because he is a very visual person.

Book Description "We have buried the putrid corpse of liberty." It's not like I'm surprised my mom picked the Mussolini quote for her wedding invitation. She's never been what one would call "conventional." I was a little surprised (but happy) when she agreed to marry my English teacher, Max Medina. Which makes my summer even busier -- with my classes at Chilton, the wedding planning, and, as Paris so efficiently pointed out, about ten years of extracurricular activities to catch up on, it makes me wonder: whatever happened to the good ol' days of summer loving, had me a blast? Reviews (6)
I pretty much blew all those things away by reading the Gilmore Girls series. I've seen all the shows (no kidding- my friends and I should form a club... or perhaps a cult) and NOTHING is a surprise any more. Max Medina? Old news. But... there is a shortage of Gilmore Girls reruns where I live. And reading the book is almost exactly like seeing the show... you can practically hear Rory and Lorelai talking as you read the dialogue... If you're a Gilmore fan, get the book. Makes you understand just a bit more... but if you haven't seen the show, I wouldn't recommend it. See the show, THEN read the book. But even I'M not sure if the Cheshire Cat's horror can properly be conveyed through a book. Seeing is believing. :)

Book Description Reviews (13)
It begins with the manga version that was eventually turned into the S movie. It has more detail and less action scenes than the movie did, which I think is better. It concentrates a lot more on the Luna/Kakeru aspect than the fact that Princess Kaguya (what Kakeru named the enemy) is trying to freeze Earth. The two aspects of it fit together nicely though. The only problem I had with it was that they were having a birthday party for Makoko (Lita) and Mina, whose birthdays are over a month apart. The other part is a backstory about Rei. This is what got me immediately hooked to this manga and made me read it again and again. It happens before they meet Minako (meaning I guess they didn't meet her till after April). It has Usagi (Bunny) and Ami meeting Rei as she gets a birthday gift from a guy who has a crush on her. They get her a popular music box and find out she has a dinner with her father. It turns out that Rei's mother died, and because her father was in politics, she decided to move in with her grandfather. Rei and her father's assisstant (and possible successor) are supposedly "kindred spirits". I don't want to give away the ending, but just know that it is BEAUTIFUL and you will want to read it over and over again. Its a nice backstory on Rei, and I, who had prefered anime Rei over her manga counterpart, had a great deal more respect for her. I hope you'll take a look at this manga and consider buying it, it's definitely worth the money.

Then they have a small war in a forest where they can only trees and they all look alike. Dieter (the Hitler youth instructor) is shot and Spence trys to help him out and gets shot by dieters friends to help him and is rough with him. The reason I gave this book 3 stars is it had bad grammar and words misspelled but it is fun to read.

Book Description It is crazy that Dean and I broke up. Things were going great between us. I mean, he tells me he loves me one minute, then the next minute he breaks up with me. My mom thinks I should wallow and stuff my face with junk food, but I'm not so sure that's the answer. And let's face it, when it comes to relationships, my mom doesn't always show the best judgment, especially if my dad's involved. What I really need to do is stay focused and keep busy. After all, I have Harvard to think about, so why waste time crying over a boy? Right? Reviews (3)
I Hope You Enjoy It!
I loved reading the part where Lorelai tries to get Rory to "wallow" after a breakup. Rory would rather handle the problem by making a list and getting things done -- which she does -- mother Lorelai does get her to open up and release the hurt in a more indulgent way too. This should be required reading for all teenaged girls. ... Read more | |

I found the book was better than expected because it had small changes from that of the TV series. By making these changes the fans of the show will be turning the pages to find out what happens next. This is a must read for those who enjoy reading books with action, drama and spies. And for those who never seen the TV series will start to watch after reading this book!
Seriously, the whole concept was great. If more care was made with the writing quality, then these could have been awesome to all Alias fans. The storylines are intriguing, the characters as we loved them, especially Francie, are there in full force, and we can get an idea of Sydney's original mindset working for what she thought was Uncle Sam. BUT, and I say but because this really ruined the books for me; the timeline is so far off I couldn't bear to read some of it. It puts Sydney's first year talking about dot-com millionaires losing money, which is totally insane as the show started in 2001, when Sydney had been in SD-6 for several years. Dot-com millionaires would not have been much talk over 5 years before, since there weren't any. There were other time problems as well, which set the book at least in the very late 90's. So, if you are obsessed with Alias, want a backstory, and don't mind poor writing and skewed timelines, then read the books. Otherwise, just don't. But buying them is not really worth it. Get them out from the library; it won't cost you anything, and if you don't like them, you won't have wasted your money.

Book Description Reviews (5)
The best part of the story was the inclusion of the many characters we have only read about, Kyp, Kirana Ti, Tionne, Streen, Dorsk 82, Luke and Leia.
I generally don't enjoy when artists take great liberty with the appearance of characters that have been solidly established for nearly three decades. A way to get by this fault is to offer readers a great story, however this does not happen here. Luke starts the story by musing to himself about nothing of great importance, and this is followed by a task for his newest Jedi Knights that is vague and one dimensional. A planet appears to suffer total destruction on a fairly regular basis, and even though this is documented, new colonists keep coming back for more. For some unknown reason nobody ever catches on that this planet is a less than hospitable spot, and invariably the cause of destruction is routinely disturbed. The only other consistent theme is how unsuited Kyp is as a Jedi, and how hopeless he would be as a Jedi Master. His treatment of a new potentially force sensitive recruit is hopelessly inept and abrasive. When the central conflict does arrive it is terribly predictable and not worthy of the material Dark Horse generally offers. It is rare when a written installment of this saga does not offer any new insight, however this one is nearly vacant.
The art's good, although once again, not Star Wars-ish. It worked far better in the 'Tales of the Jedi' series than in the modern SW universe. You wants real 'Star Wars' comics, see something like the X-wing Rogue Squadron comics, especially 'In the Empire's Service' and 'Mandatory Retirement'. You want a story transplanted to the SW universe, read this. I'm grading this as a Star Wars comic, and as a Star Wars comic its just plain bad.
