5-0 out of 5 stars Smooth and filling!
This is NOT your typical romance. The author does a wonderful job of putting the thoughts of his main characters down. I've honestly never read a series that I've found myself so close to the changing personality of the characters. It's like looking into somebody's heart. It's so smooth. Yes, smooth is a good word. Oh, it's wonderful! And the television series is just as good! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Androids have feelings too
The Culture Festival is here and Aya's Steel Snow is underway. Although there is lots of humor in the series, this volume is mostly serious and even the play's story is pretty interesting. I've noticed how well Masami Tsuda expresses her characters through simple facial looks. Did anyone feel a little uneasy with Arima's look towards the end? It just makes me yearn that much more for volume 10. Also, Tonami makes a big decision despite the painful consequence it may hold for him. And Tsubasa is so *kawaii* as Antique!

Fellow fans, the wait for each volume is so worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Aya's play and the cultural festival!
This installment of Kare Kano has some cute side stories, but the main focus is Aya's play, Steel Snow. All three of the actresses (including Yukino, Tsubasa, and Maho) perform to their best ability a play that hits close to home for Arima. I think Masami Tsuda did a marvelous job tranferring a play into a manga form. But the end of the book is the most important of all; it ends the "Yukino arc" as Tsuda puts it and starts the arc of Arima. A must read for all Kare Kano fans! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Some of the best books ever
The Christy Miller series and also the Sierra Jenson series have been some of the best books i have ever read. Robbin Jones Gunn is such a wonderful writer that you can't help but keep reading. After I had finished reading the Christy Miller Series and Todd and Christy the college years I had to recomend it to my friend who ended up loving them just as much as I do. We have actually stayed up very late together reading our books. The Book "Summer Promise" is what really gets you attached to the characters and is a wonderful beginning. Christy Miller ends up going to visit her aunt and uncle in southern California for the summer and to her surprise ends up getting a makeover from her aunt. Her aunt Marti then encourages her to go make some friends on the beach which ends up being the start to a few very special friendships and Christy also meets a lucky guy who she ends having more than a friendship with but that is all I am going to say. All the friends then have to deal with a close friends death and that is extremly sad. This book over all was one of my favorites and I recomend it to anybody looking for a great romantic, christian novel.

5-0 out of 5 stars these are great books!!!!!
I have read all of the Christy Miller series and the Sierra Jensen series.I have also read Until Tomarrow and As You Wish, in the Christy and Todd series. They are the best books I have ever read. Robin is by far my favorite author. The way that she writes makes you feel like you are the one going through all these things and makes me want to read them over and over again. As I read the way that Christy goes through everyday life handling school, crushes, parents, friends, and GOD, made me start to look at how I handle them. I laughed and cried through this incredible series. I would definately recommend this book and all of Robin's books to everyone!

5-0 out of 5 stars Christy Miller series are the best
I have recently strugged with my faith, and began reading the Christy Miller series by Robin Jones Gunn, and as a result, have drawn nearer to God. I've read the whole series, and the Christy& Todd college years, twice, and could read them again and again! I truly recommed these books! They will leave you thinking about your relationship with God, and others!

4-0 out of 5 stars you'll enjoy this if...
You read it and the other 11 Christy Miller books before you read the Christy Miller college books. I had a hard time reading this book because of the fact that I had read The Christy and Todd: The College Years series first. I was used to the twenty-something Christy who had been dating Todd for awhile when I started this ( won't give away the ending of the College years trilogy) and then I got to read about Christy as a teen. It was a little hard to get rid of the annoying, child-like habits of Christy Miller aged 14. But this book does have some good points. Christy learns that decisions you make can affect your life. She learns this through Todd and one of Todd's friends. Her Aunt Marti is an overbearing character, though. For the bulk of the book Christy is trying to find herself and wants to be cool. But through Todd and his friends, she discovers that there is more to life than being cool, and she makes a summer promise she'll never forget. A good read overall. Just take my advice and don't read the college books first.

3-0 out of 5 stars a little frustrating! but all right I guess
You can read the sum-up of the plot up above if you need to; I'm here to give you my personal perspective on it.

Aunt Marti is annoying and overbearing, practically encouraging Christy to have low self-esteem! She's much too superficial---I don't know why a guy like Uncle Bob would marry her.

Todd is such a GUY! Why does Christy have a crush on him, when he acts distant one second and warm the next? We've all been there, of course, but it's nauseating to read about it. Besides, she's 14 and he's 16---a big difference at that age, in my opinion.

And later, when a Christian singer asks Christy "If you were to die today, would you be certain you were going to heaven?", I about threw the book against the wall. That is such a poor witnessing tactic, hello?! In my eyes, that just pushes people farther away from considering becoming a Christian.

Well anyway, those are my rants about the book. But it still got me hooked on the series, probably because it's so simple and easy-to-read. See for yourself. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book
This book is really fun and easy to read. It is all about Lizzie and her nemesis, Kate. The recommended age is 8-12, but if you're a fan of Lizzie Mcguire, and/or Hilary Duff, then you'll definitely want to read this book! What makes it special is Lizzie's little conscience, which says what Lizzie really wants to say!

Part 1:
Kate breaks her arm and she can't be a cheerleader anymore. Will she lose her popularity? Lizzie has the opurtunity to help Kate or to leave her alone. What will she decide? And will Kate accept help from an unpopular girl like Lizzie?

Part 2:
Lizzie, Miranda, and Gordo want to go to Kate's party. But it will be unsupervised! Mrs. Mcguire will never let this happen! How will the three friends get into the party? And what if Mrs. Mcguire find out? If she does, then it's sure to be big trouble!

2-0 out of 5 stars It was OK
I liked this book because it showed the difference between two types of people. Kate and Lizzie used to be best friends. But now, they are fighting.

These books are really easy to read. I can get thru one very quickly and then read another.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Rise and Fall of the Kate Empire
This book is divided into two parts, so I'll review each separately.

Part 1: 7/10 Kate Sanders, Lizzie's enemy, takes a tumble during cheerleading practice, and Lizzie and her friends decide to help Kate out for a while. This sotry was good but did not really have an ending.

Part 2: 6/10 Another story about Kate. This time Kate is throwing a birthday party. Lizzie and her friends are invited, but their parents won't let them go because there isn't a chaperone. In the classic children's book sense, they go anyway, only to discover that no one else from thier school could go. But the party's a mess, and its not what Kate wants. Can Lizzie find a way to help her enemy?

This was an okay book. I've read the plots to both parts elsewhere, though. Still, it is worth your time to read it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Kates big fall
I liked this book a little but it did not really have a point or a climax to it I would give this book 2 stars. This book was about cheerleading. I don't really like cheerleading. If had known the book was about cheerleading I never would have read the book.
This book was about a cheerleader named Kate and she broke her arm. Kate got kicked off the cheerleading squad. So Lizzie helped Kate learn how to do stunts with one arm. Kate got back on the squad. She was really glad.
This book was very well written and explained thoughout. That's what I liked about it. You would like this book if you like cheerleading.

5-0 out of 5 stars never try to be cool for your friends
This was an excellent book because it teaches you a lesson. You shouldn't try to be cool because people wrote you aren't as good as your friend. Always be yourself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wanna be cool? Don't ask Michelle!
How to be Cool is about a nine-year-old girl, Michelle Tanner. It all starts in school when a girl passes Michelle the class slambook. Michelle looks at her page. Her friends wrote great things about her, but the other kids didn't. Michelle turns the page and sees Loreen West's page. Everyone wrote super things about her. After school that day she decides to act like Loreen. Loreen is sort of a punk. First she cuts up her clothes. She then goes downstairs and shows her father. Her father is not very happy. The next day, her father left early for work. She wore her new clothes to school! Her friends thought she was crazy. She just ignored what they said. The kids in school didn't even seem to notice, though! Next she dyed her hair with kool aid. But bees attacked her. Then she wore a wig and fake nose ring to school. The cool kids liked her then. Then she told them she could play the air guitar. Now they want her to be in their band! What a mistake!

1-0 out of 5 stars Give Me A Break!
Who wants to read about somebody changing almost everything, even their name to, Spike. Just to have cool things written about them! Give me a break!

3-0 out of 5 stars Michelle is fine just the way she is.
The girls in Michelle's class are making a slam book. All they say about Michelle is things like "Fine"and "A nice person". But Michelle wishes that they would say things like "Cool" and "Awesome" Instead of just plain old "Nice", so she decides to change her hair, clothes, name, and everything! Is this how Michelle really wants to be? A guitar player with kool-aid color hair named Spike? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good
You'll have to read it to find out what happens to anyone who wants to read a good and moving book. I was really captivated by the Authors understanding of Anna's feelings and even Haley Parkin's. In the book the point of view changes from Anna's to Melanie's to even her parents and brothers. It was a very well written book and I would definitely recommend it to someone.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best YA books I've read in a long time!
Even though I'm closing in on 30, I thought this was a great book.

The story is told from the perspective of Anna's journal, her parents and friends. The plot examines the nasty world of girl cliques and female bullying. So often we think of boys being the only bullies. Girls are bullies too--just with their words and manipulative ideas.

I've recommended this book to my middle school students. It's worth the time for both girls AND boys to read--and their parents, too.

Don't bother checking out from the library--buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Read!!
This was a great book. I'm a fast reader, but with some books, you just don't want to go on, but this book drew me in. I finished it in about 1/2 a day. The book makes you fel what the character is feeling, and leaves you wondering why people can be so cruel. Recommended this book to two of my friends and they LOVED it and agreed with what I said. Thanks Sue Mayfienld! I hope to see more of Mayfield's books in the future.

5-0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal Book
Anna Goldsmith is 16 years old. She plays the violin in the school orchestra. She's a skilled tennis player, good at hockey, and speaks French beautifully. And she has just attempted to commit suicide. Slowly, the events leading up to Anna's decision to end her life unfold, alternating from the first-person view of Melanie, her best and only friend, and the third-person view of Frances Goldsmith, her mother. What made Anna hate herself? Can she survive?... Drowning Anna made me cry. Not only is the reader extremely in tune with each character's feelings, but the plot could be the life story of any junior high or high school girl. Any girl who has been teased, bullied, or otherwise trapped in a net of demeaning lies can relate to Anna easily. From the very first page the reader is pulled into the story and the lives of those involved. Anna's struggles become your own. Mayfield notes at the end of her book "...I hope [this book] gives girls like Anna a voice- and some sense of being understood." In my opinion, she has exceeded her goal.

5-0 out of 5 stars Utterly Amazing!
This book is truly amazing! I adore books that are written by English authors and this certainly is one of those books. I'd hate to spoil it for you, so take my advice and just READ IT! I'll give you a hint though, start reading this in the afternoon. I stayed up past midnight reading this since I just couldn't put it down! ... Read more

Book Description

What happened to the bad girls?
Seventh grade, that's what.

In her regulation cargo pants and gray T-shirt, Mikey Elsinger is loud, aggressive, uncompromising, and uncooperative. Margalo Epps, tall and stylish, seems more mild-mannered -- but looks can be deceiving. And even if they don't have anyone else, Mikey and Margalo have each other.

The bad news is: Typical, normal kids are what work in junior high. The worse news is: Friends aren't people you like, they're people you're seen with. Armed with these insights, Margalo and Mikey set out to enter the world of seventh grade and conquer it -- or at least make it do what they want.

In this third book in the Bad Girls series, Newbery Medalist Cynthia Voigt gives us a refreshingly wry view of the good, the bad, and the unpopular -- and a glimpse into the hearts of a remarkable pair of friends. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Jaime
There are two main characters. They are Mickey and Margalo. Mickey is a tough kid who is always getting into fights, but nobody realy knows her other side except Margalo. Margalo is part of a big family that dosen't really have much money to spend, so that makes them both unpopular, but they are best friends. The story begins with Mickey and Margalo having a conversation about not wanting to be unpopular. So they decide that they are going to make plans to become more popular. The most exciting part is when Margalo went to the Thrift Store and picked out a cool outfit and when she went to school every one loved it. The story ends when they both become popular and they finally realize that having their friendship is better than being popular. I like this book because it was funny and it makes me think about all the crazy things people my age do just to fit in. I recomend this book to anybody who wants to read a funny adventure about friendship and life as a 7th. grader.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's Not Easy Being Bad
It's Not Easy Being Bad, by Cynthia Voigt is a novel about two girls that want to be more popular, but end up being less popular.
As they deal with Middle School and the disadvantages of being un-popular, they come up with a plan of being more popular. Margalo and Mikey come up with a challenge-which one becomes popular first. However, since they also have a 'bad' side to them. They cant' help getting in a few laughs. Even if that gets them more un-popular.
They author wrote this book so anyone who reads it can connect with it. They get a view of what's it like to go to Middle School and how hard it is to become popular.
I wouldn't recommend this book too much because once you start getting into the book, it get boring and you just feel like putting it down.

This is a great book and I recommend it. Lots of action and it takes you through a roller coaster of different like hilarious, jeolusy, humiliation, and especially revenge.

4-0 out of 5 stars 3rd Book and Margalo and Mikey are still great!
Mikey Elsinger and Margalo Epps are not your typical type of teenagers. They love causing trouble and hide their feelings. They were best friends from the first day of 5th grade or so they say. Mikey is a short, stocky, girl who is always seen as the bad girl. She always goes for what SHE wants and always tries to leave in a mess. Margalo is a quiet girl who can pretend to be like other girls. She is in a large family and therefore her family is not very rich. Mikey is the only one in the universe who can figure out Margalo and Margalo is known as the bad girl's friend. In this 3rd book, both girls experience middle school. The school where they are all nobodies. Mikey and Margalo will not let this pass and so begins another great book of the lovable, yet defensive, unforgettable best friends. ... Read more

Things get off to a good start, and before you know it, Jerry's in, Rollerblading with the pros. But soon, Jerry finds himself tangled up in a complicated web of lies; and what's more, he's battling a terrible urge to put his glasses back on, join the science team, build a hovercraft, and, worst of all, date Brenda, a 100% geek. Jerry was the main character. He is around 12-13, and he's in 6th grade. He tries to be cool like other boys. He is really a dork but he doesn't wear glasses so the kid won't know that he is a dork.

The main characters have different personalities; cool, friendly, mean, and nice at times. Brenda is a good friend, but he hurts his friends. He promised Brenda that he could hang out her at the carnival , but he breaks the promise and hangs out with Cinnamon.

He doesn't want people to know that he is a nerd. He wants to be cool like other kids. He wants to changes his clothes

He likes a person that is friendly and has fun with because he would think he is cool like other boys.

He likes science and he wants to be cool. He tries to be himself.

Yes, I like him because, he is interesting.

His behavior is not admired because, he always tells the kids a lie about that he is not dork and he can do roller skating but he told Gabe that he can do that downhill.

Yes It is good book to read because, it is interesting and fun to read. The character is telling the people an interesting story about what happen to many kids.

Did you ever think you would have the chance to read a great book for teenagers.Well, now's your chance!!

This is about a totally huge dorky guy named Jerry.

He had bright orange hair and very dumb looking glasses but he threw away his glasses so he could look cool for his new school. He was about twelve years old and in 6th grade.

Jerry tried to be cool in his new school so he wouldn't get picked on anymore. He was very likable.A lot of people would be friends with him. Jerry was very friendly and wasn't mean. He liked people that were intelligent but now he was looking for some cool group to join in. In this story he is doing some serious lying and crazy stuff! READ TO FIND OUT!!

YOU GUYS SHOULD READ THIS STUFF.IT'S VERY HILARIOUS!! AND IT'S FOR TEENAGERS!!!

We bought this book because it was on a suggested reading for my daughter that is in the 4th grade. The lesson of the book is a very good lesson for all children to learn. Be who you are, don't be a phony! People like you the way you are. My only problem with the book was that there were 3 references to being "sexy". One incidence was refering to the way Jerry (the main character) would talk to a girl that he liked. The other two references were to clothing. I, as a parent, wasn't happy about that, but the lesson in the book was much more powerful. If this review helps, let me know.

"Plot"
Many people want their attention caught by a funny book and in this book the characters are very interesting and funny.

In the story Jerry wants to be cool and he doesn't want to wear glasses. He thinks glasses are not cool. Jerry falls in love with Cinnamon, because Jerry thinks Cinnamon is very pretty! Cinnamon likes Gabe. She thinks Gabe is the coolest guy in the whole school. Later Jerry wants to be more cool and he wants to walk cool like Gabe. Gabe does not think Jerry is cool. Cinnamon likes Jerry and Cinnamon sits next to Jerry at lunch time. Jerry was happy!! Brenda asks Jerry if he wants to join the science team. Jerry did join the science team. Gabe wants Jerry to roller blade. Jerry doesn't know how to roller blade and Gabe think he can't do it. Later Jerry did it,hitting a tree and getting a black eye. Everyone cheers for him and thinks Jerry is cool. Gabe was jealous because Cinnamon likes Jerry and Cinnamon says that Brenda is a dork. Brenda falls in love with Jerry. Brenda doesn't like Cinnamon. Cinnamon asked Jerry to write a song for her and then later Cinnamon loves Jerry's song!

This book is a good young teenage story because it has lots of love interest and has problems among teenagers . This story is very interesting.

I think this story is cool. I like this book because it is funny and interesting.

Book Description

The last thing Carrie wants to do is go to Della Splatnuk's birthday party. Everyone knows Della is weird, and Carrie's best friends have vowed not to go. But once Carrie is there, she begins to wonder whether Della is really all that bad, and whether all the kids who did not show up have ever given Della a chance.

When Carrie looks within her own little soul to find an independence and conviction she didn't know she had, readers will learn that how people look doesn't always tell you what they are like inside. Just as Carrie learns amazing new things about herself, about Della and about friendship, children reading or listening to this story will learn to trust their own feelings when it comes to who is their friend, not the opinions of their peers.

Lisa McCourt and Pat Porter previously combined their talents on The Goodness Gorillas (more than 110,000 copies sold).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Teaching Tool
For teachers who have a student who is a little different and not easily accepted by the others in the class, this book is an excellent springboard for a discussion about compassion. My 4th graders were able to talk about how Della would have been treated at school and how they could make a difference to someone who is never chosen as a partner.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great lesson in a great story!
The reviewers might consider it didactic, but my kids loved the story! I also enjoyed reading it to them. And I think they took an important lesson from it!

5-0 out of 5 stars So wonderfully touching
A picture is worth thousand words. Reading the story can choke up the maturest of woman. But when you see the pictures next to the paragraphs, you could just stare at the images and truly feel you were there even if you never had an experience like this ... Read more

Book Description

Jerry Flack can't forget that last year he was a dork.

But this year, in a new town, at a new school, things have gotten better. His social life isn't quite as embarrassing as it once was. In fact, he feels almost normal. That is, until he thinks about running for class president.

At first it seems like a great idea -- being in the Student government might even be cool. But before Jerry can even decide to run, he discovers that he already has an opponent: someone willing to do almost anything to get Jerry not to run -- someone who wants to convince the whole class that no one wants a dork for president.

Is it worth the risk of running for class president if it means a return to the depths of dorkdom?

4-0 out of 5 stars Awsome Book
All but Alice is a fantastic book written by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. The author makes you feel like you are Alice. Alice is a selfconcious young lady. Elizabeth, is vein, and Pamela is enthusiastic. Alice started seventh grade, and also joined the All Stars Fan Club and the earring club. She becomes one of the famous eight. Still there are situations to fix. Can she be a sister with girls who want to be her brother's (Lester) girlfriend? What will she do when her father dates her teacher, Miss Summers? So why don't you read the book and find out.
This book is a MUST READ! The reader can learn not to worry about everything or else it might turn out bad. You actually feel like you're in Alice's body. It's easy to put a picture in your mind. You feel like you're actually in that world, as Alice.
Phyllis Reynolds Naylor is a great author. Her parents read to her and sang songs that were actually stories. She could hardly wait to read and write her own books. Her books are about things she heard or read, all mixed up with her imaginations. All But Alice is a terrific book and I think you should read it along with some of her other books.

4-0 out of 5 stars Well Written!
When Alice McKinley, a mother-less girl, becomes a member or the "in" group, Alice gets a lot of attention from boys such as Brian. Then Alice learns that worrying about your looks and try on earings are not as much fun and even if she is in the Beautiful Eight, it is kind of boring. So after an embarrassment to one of Alice's true friends, Alice decides to do the right thing and even if it doesn't sound believible, it was touching and thoughtful! Mrs.Naylor is truly a well writer and has written over eighty books including Shiloh, which has one many respects and rewards. The Alice Series is well written and so is this Alice book. Watch for Alice's new book Simply Alice in Spring 2002. To keep yourself busy, read Alice's newest book around and the book that everybody's talking about with tears about Patrick being interested in another girl besides Alice in Alice Alone!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the funnier Alice books!
This book takes us through the winter of Alice's seventh grade year. She falls in with the popular crowd and learns what it is like to be one of the beautiful people, or "Famous Eight" as they're referred to. But the more "in" she becomes, the more "out" Elizabeth seems to be; leading Alice to miss the simple days when she, Elizabeth, and Pamela were close friends. Alice has some serious thoughts about whether it's worth the boredom to be popular or whether she should just be herself. The subplot involving Lester's love life (Marilyn, Christal, and now Loretta thrown in the mix) and Alice's fathers love life (will he propose to Miss Summers?) make for some of the novels funnier moments. This is one Alice book you don't want to miss, with some thoughtful lessons about acceptance and popularity thrown in.

5-0 out of 5 stars What can I say? GREAT, THAT'S WHAT!
GREAT!! This story is very realistic and I wholeheartedly recommend it with the usual warning I give when reviewing Alice books: Only read this yourself, kids, or ,adults, give this book to someone if you are sure they will not faint if they see read some sexual things, which they're are a lot of in the Alice books.

Again, this a wonderful book and really provides an insight into a young girl's mind. I actually suggest boys read the Alice series to get a little understanding of how girl's minds work.

Blessed BE!! :) :) :) :)

5-0 out of 5 stars It is about fitting in with certain peers*
All but Alice was a great book to read. It is about when Alice wants a bulletin board, her ears pierced, and even joins two clubs-The Earring Club and the All-Stars Fan Club. She works at the Melody Inn for three hours and wants to be part of the "in" crowd at school.
Alice may act different in this book out of the other books, but I know how that feels. You act different when you are in a different and a snobbier club and then realize of how idiotic you were to people who didn't pick on you at all.
It is not like Alice picks on anyone in this novel, but it was cruel of her to embarrass her friend Elizabeth like that. One of the Three Handsome Stooges likes and picks on Alice a lot. Alice feels different and one of the Popular and the Beautiful people at her school.
But the truth is, Alice gets so sick of Brian (one of the 3 Stooges) picking on her. Even in one of the chapters, he puts her face in the snow for fun like it is funny. And on Valentine's Day, her ex-boyfriend Patrick comes over and gives her a big box of chocolates.
Alice didn't realize that she had to share them with him for some weird reason. So Lester tells her that and she reinvites him over.
Lester has a Woman Situation again! Loretta Jenkins (who works at his dad's store) likes him! Lester just wants to take a break from dating and concentrate on homework. Or, in other words, L-I-F-E. Meaning a "non-female-dating-crisis" life.
And turns out that Alice's dad goes out with her 7th-grade Language Arts teacher Miss Summers. Again. And he gives her a Vivaldi cassette. AND, turns out that Alice becomes herself again, kisses Patrick again (because he threw up on the bus and Brian told Alice to make fun of him when he comes back but she comes to the rescue and they talk and then kiss on the bus. Yep. Just like that!), and quits the Earring Club (I think) and the All-Stars Fan CLub.
The letter Alice wrote to a famous rock-star was very funny. Even though it was a joke, the person in charge of it mailed it to the star!
This was a good book for peoples out there who have trouble fitting in with the right people. Phyllis Reynolds Naylor is a great author and knows how to describe a junior-high girl's life today.
So if you're bored, then I suggest reading All But Alice. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Wally needs some depth!
Wally McDoogle, "the world's biggest klutz," is back and this time faces the challenges of, believe it or not, popularity. That's probably the last problem one would expect this extremely accident prone 8th grader to have. However, deep in his heart, Wally McDoogle longs to be respected and admired. So when Ricko Slicko's Advertising Agency claims that "they can take the biggest loser in the country and turn him into the most popular guy on the planet," Wally feels that he is the perfect candidate. Before he knows what has hit him, he is starring in the "A Day in the Life of Willard McDorkel" TV series and girls are flocking to get his autograph. He feels a little troubled by the fact that a stunt-double is performing all the feats of bravery that are garnering him such attention, but allows Ricko Slicko to brush his guilty conscience aside.

Wally's best friends, Wall Street and Opera, attempt to keep him grounded, but as Ricko Slicko's entrepreneurial vision grows larger and larger, gradually including a theme park ride, action figures, and a rock concert starring you know who as its main attraction, Wally lets his new found fame and attention to go to his head. It's not until his attempt to be a star athlete for the high school basketball team leads to an unexpected insight into himself that Wally understands what he really wants and learns that being popular isn't all it's made out to be.

Everything about The Incredible Worlds of Wally McDoogle series is wildly exaggerated. Some readers will find Bill Myers sense of humor to be funny and entertaining; others may find it repetitive and shallow. While the message about popularity's pitfalls comes across loud and clear, the lack of respect shown to adults in the book and the way Wally's family treats one another, even if it is meant to be funny, is troubling.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handling Peer Pressure
Our mother-daughter book club read this book when the girls were in 4th grade. The girls said this was one of the best books we had read because this was what "it really felt like" for them in school. They felt it accurately portrayed how kids treat the "nerds" or kids who are different in school and how hard it is to stick up for those being picked on for fear of getting the same treatment done to you. It is a great discussion book for schools, parents and kids, etc. I was really surprised when my daughter said that she would have done exactly what Hannah did at the party because it's too hard to go against the crowd. It led to a wonderful learning opportunity. She then suggested to her teacher that they read it in school because her class was dealing with a similar incident.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exelent Book, great suspense, fabulous plot
I think that you should definatly read this book, but only if you are 10 and a half or older, because it's kind of intense. When I read this book I was in 4th grade, but then again, in 4th grade I hade an 8th grad reading level. I have never actually seen the Lizzie McGuire Show but I hear that kids love it so I checked out this book from the library. It was pretty unchallenging but sort of fun. I didn't really like the first story about the new kid but the second one was very funny. It reminded me of the episode of Saved By the Bell (BEST TV SHOW EVER!) in which the teens have to "marry" each other. Hilarious! Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Peef's Perfect for Families
My boys (6 and 8) and I loved the newest Peef book -- that warm-hearted multi-colored bear they love so well continues his adventures in this tale. This time, Peef has to deal with school, new friends, disappointment, and forgiveness -- quite a load for anyone, but because Peef has the great big heart (and "peef" squeak) that he does, he's equal to the task. The lively colors and clever drawings throughout -- including animated dinosaur bushes -- kept my kids enchanted. They also liked the rhyming language that makes the book flow along well. So if you're looking for a book -- birthday, Christmas, start of school, or pleasure -- that helps kids express feelings they may not be able to verbalize, this Peef book helps. My six-year-old pointed to one of the pictures and exclaimed, "That's what happened to me!" You'll get some great conversations started at your house after you read this book to your kids. ...
