This book is for all ages.
As with all my books on Diana, I have read this many, many times. "The Prologue" of this book reads like a fairy tale: "Once upon a time, not very long ago, a beautiful young woman married a handsome prince. He was the most eligible bachelor in the world. She - quite literally - was the girl next door."

This is an extremely well written book about the late Diana, Princess oof Wales. This is one book which can be read and enjoyed by everyone. One can read this book in thirty or forty-five minutes easily. The young people will enjoy it not only because it is well written and easy to understand but because its pictures are in color which is attractive to them.

The marriage which was dubbed "a fairy tale" was anything but a fairy tale. Diana found a way to use her position and privlege to give love and hope to millions of people in need. Whether embracing a baby with AIDS, holding the hands of a leper, or comforting the dying, Diana opened her heart to the world, and the world received her with deep and enduring affection.

Indeed Diana was a princess who did not need a palace to be a true princess.

An introduction to the charity work of Princess Diana
Caroline M. Levchuck's "Learning About Charity from the Life of Princess Diana" does indeed focus more on her charitable works than her troubled personal life. Indeed, for me the most remarkable part of her life was that given the fact she was clearly the most photographed person on the face of the planet, instead of becoming a recluse she used her popularity to help others. Levchuck covers her charity work in some detail, talking about her patronage of various charities helping homeless young people as well as sick children and adults. Young readers will see pictures of Princess Diane doing charity work, with children suffering from leprosy and AIDS, and her campaign against land mines. Yes, the fact that she was a fairy tale princess seemingly come to life is what made her famous, but this book really focuses on what made her worth emulating. Other titles in this next series of Character Building Books help young readers learn about assertiveness from the life of Oprah Winfrey, courage from Christopher Reeve, creativity from Steven Spielberg, integrity from Eleanor Roosevelt, and strength of character from Muhammed Ali. Nothing new.
...except a blazing error in the title: Anastasia was no tsarina (which is used to describe the wife of the tsar). The term used in Russia was velikaya knyazha, grand duchess, or tsarevna, daughter of the tsar.

Great photographs
I like this book because the author doesn't give you the answer to the mystery. She leaves it up to you, she gives you the clues, opinions, theories, and ideas and you decide if Anastasia Manahan was indeed the Grand Duchess Anastasia. I personally do not believe Anastasia Manahan was Anastasia, but this book is extremly well written and I really enjoyed it, and I especially liked the photographs included of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nicolaevena, the last daughter of the last Tsar of Russia. ... wonderful!
Wafa Tarnowska brings the middle east and asia into our lives, and does it well. The tales are charming and enjoyable for both kids and adults, and even little ones enjoy the pictures. I also liked the fact that she doesn't "dumb it down" in order to adapt to North American culture - we need more insight into other cultures, and this is a nice place to start. WEll done! Beautiful illustrations too...

I want my own pavillion!
This is a unique collection of stories within a story from a different culture--an Islamic one. The Shah Bahram is wealthy but not happy. He is fascinated with the portraits of seven princesses whom he invites to come live in his kingdom in their own pavillions (beautifully portrayed in the illustrations). Each princess proceeds to tell the shah a story in which seven virtues--truth, patience, perseverance, forgiveness, humility, wisdom, and love--are expounded upon. The shah learns and so do we.
