4-0 out of 5 stars Decisions, Decisions.....
As a large, gray, wand wielding rabbit, complete with upturned magician's hat, sits facing a young boy and girl, he asks..."Which would you rather be? A stick or a stone?" And so the game begins. Would you rather be an elbow or a knee, mouse or elephant, rain or snow, snake or crocodile, alone or together? Some of the answers seem to be obvious, as we see a balding, eyeglass wearing, paper reading grown-up come out of the hat, compared to a skateboard riding kid. But it's clear from the start that there are no right or wrong answers. Just thoughtful, clever fun. William Steig's minimal text, floating in dialogue bubbles, sets the stage. But it's Harry Bliss' bold, bright, and expressive artwork that steals the show with its humorous detail. Perfect for preschoolers, Which Would You Rather Be? is a simple and entertaining picture book that will get those creative juices flowing. This is just the beginning; the game is sure to continue long after the book is closed. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars love the song, but the book doesn't sound good
I have known this song for 20+ years. The rabbit gets turned into a goon- moral: hare today goon tomorrow. My young children love the song even if they don't understand the adult twist to the moral. And they love acting it out. I think bopping with your hand is less offensive than using a large hammer! They also love the suspense of "Down came the gooooood fairy".
After reading all the reviews of this book I think I'm NOT going to ruin the magic of this song by getting this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Naughty little rabbit.
This is one of the funniest books I have read as a child and that I read to my children. It is about a rabbit whole boops animals on the head and is given three chances by the goo fairy to change. If he doesnt he gets turned into a goonie. Well little nauty rabbit foo foo doesnt listen and ends up being a goonie. Great pictures and theme that can be played like a song.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rabbit to Goonie
A hilarious story that my son could 'read' before he was three because he knew the words off by heart! The pictures are wonderful and the good fairy sorts out the naughty rabbit in the end by turning him into a goonie (sort of green and small!) One of my favourites too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Naughty Rabbit Foo-Foo!!!!!
This book is one of the funniest childrens books that I have ever read, I work as a nanny and am also expecting my first and this is a favourite of all the children that I have looked after, I would thouroughly recommend it to any parent starting to read bedtime stories to their children.

5-0 out of 5 stars The funniest children's book ever
If you don't like this book you have no sense of humor :) The expressions on Little Rabbit Foo Foo's evil face are hysterical. Despite repeated warnings from the Good Fairy to change his attitude or be turned into a "goonie" Little Rabbit Foo Foo remains irrepressibly naughty. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You're special because you're you.
Leo was a very normal little rabbit with a cotten tail and soft fur. The olny diffrence between him and the rest of his family is that his ears don't point straight up! To Leo's surprise, the rest of his family started laughfing at him when ever they saw him! Now Leo must find a way to make his ears stand stright up in the forest he calls home. On the way Leo learns an imporant lesson about being diffrent.

I cannot tell you how much I love this book. As a kid I remember reading it. When asked to do a review in my Children's Literature class this book instantly came to mind! This is a book that will speak to your children no matter who they are. Every child has something 'different' about them that makes them feel insecure. "Leo the Lop" is a great book to help your children feel positive about these 'differences'! I was so crushed when I found out my mom had given it to Goodwill that I ordered it here with the quickest delivery! This is a FANTASTIC book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Discover Shapes With a Brown Bunny!
For a toddler's book about shapes, this book packs a lot! There are bright colors, a clever discovery story in which our rabbit hero finds packages inside packages, and words that are fun to say (e.g., "Whoosh" and "Curly-wurly"). There's even some droll humor as Rabbit is described as "rabbit-shaped!" Along the way, kids will see examples of a rectangle, an oval, a circle, a square, as well as a tube and other interesting shapes. Nice bright colors and a warm, soft-looking bunny make this 21-page book a winner!

This was such a joy to find! When my child lost the first tooth I looked every where for this book but couldn't find it. Within the past two weeks I found it here. Once the book arrived I read it to my child & my husband. Both loved it as much as I do. If you can get a copy of this hard to find book I would encourage you to do so. You won't be sad as you explain to your little one where their teeth go once the tooth fairy picks it up.

I enjoyed reading this book about her loosing her first tooth. It is a good book to read, because it makes you think about when you lost your first tooth. In the story, little rabbit looses her first tooth and doesnt really know what to do with it. Her mom tells her about the tooth fairy. She still is not sure if she wants to put it under her pillow or not. If you read the book, you will find out what she does with the tooth.

5-0 out of 5 stars We Love Max!
Max and Ruby are my new favorite book characters in books for younger children. My kindergarten students love the short text, colorful illustrations, and of course, mischievous little Max. After reading the Easter book "Max's Chocolate Chicken" all Fall and Winter, I'm finally getting them some more Max books!

In "Bunny Party", Max's older sister Ruby, throws a party for their Grandma. Ruby's guest list includes her "Rapunzel", "Mr. and Mrs. Quack" and the "Tooth Fairy", but leaves no room for Max's favorite toys. Sneaky Max finds his own way to crash the party with his "Jellyball Shooter Spider" and several other guests.

I love Ruby because she is such a girl in the toys that she owns and in the type of party that she plans for Grandma. I love Max because he is such a boy in the toys that he owns and in the way he wants to be included in his older sister's party plans. And I love Rosemary Wells for creating characters that children will want to see to over and over again in stories that adults can also appreciate and enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids LOVE this story
I am rating this a 5-star book from the kids point of view. Kids just love the story, memorizing the names of all the toys that attend the bunny party, etc... My kids (a 4 year old boy and a 1.5 year old girl) drag out stuffed toys and a teaset at least three times a week to have a bunny party of their own.

If you buy this book, you will have to read it a gazillion times. From the parent's viewpoint, it's not the greatest book that you'll ever read a gazillion times to your kids, but it's way better than one of the books that you dread when they say, "Can we read it again tonight?" And hey, it's not our opinion that counts anyway, right?

4-0 out of 5 stars We like Max & Ruby
Rosemary Wells has created two great brother and sister characters in the Bunny books, as well as the Max board books. Ruby is the responsible, if slightly bossy, older sister, and Max is her younger brother intent on doing what he wants. Ruby is throwing a party where most of the guests are her dolls and toys, and Max wants to invite some of his toys, too!

There is a lot of counting, which may go over better with the four to eight year old recommendation, but this is still a fun book to read with a younger child. Ruby is a fun character to read aloud. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars One wascaly wabbit
The sweetest little South Korean import on the market today. Admittedly, I'm not particularly familiar with a lot of translated South Korean books for children sold in America. But due to the fact that, "While We Were Out", (originally titled in South Korea, "What On Earth Happened During That Time") is twice as adorable as 95% of picture books written in the English language, it's probably a fair guess.

In this simple book, the family rabbit goes exploring in her owners' house while they're away visiting grandma. The family itself is never seen. Instead, we follow the rabbit as she traipses from room to room, exploring and testing. The rabbit applies lipstick to her face. She settles in for a good movie. She rollerblades (with the help of some strong chopsticks, of course). All the while the little rabbit is determining her own taste and in the end she fully believes she's gotten away without the family ever knowing. There's a cute (and very realistically rabbit-like) twist on the ending of this tale. Anyone who's ever had a fluffy bunny as a pet will instantly understand that this is EXACTLY how their own rabbit might explore the home. "While We Were Out" will not change anyone's life or bowl you over with its style. It is a sweet simple tale told with humor and beauty. Just the perfect book for any time of day.

5-0 out of 5 stars A sweet story about a little rabbit
Children's books about animals are one of my favorites to review -- especially when the main character has a mind of his own :).

The book, "While You Were Out," by Ho Baek Lee, is about a little rabbit whose owners forget to lock the door to the balcony. When the little rabbit discovers this, she goes exploring throughout the house. While inside, she finds a lot of fun things to do.

MyParenTime.com highly recommends this book -- it's short sentences and simple renderings make this story very enjoyable for young children. The ending is sure to leave a trail...pun intended :).

5-0 out of 5 stars A Story That Makes Them Giggle
This book is just right for my five-year-old bunny loving daughter. It's a simple story of what the pet bunny does when the family leaves, and he sneaks into the house. It's a little reminiscent of Alexandra Day's Carl books, in that when the pet is left alone, he takes on some human characteristics. For instance, this bunny has lunch at the table and tries out roller skating. Very cute- just the right amount of text, a great cuddle up and giggle story. ... Read more

It starts out harmlessly enough, with a rabbit feeling rather pleased with

himself and his talent for hearing. A neighboring bear overhears the rabbit's

boasting and takes offense. The challenge is on, and the bickering begins as

the bear proclaims that his ability to smell is quite superior to the rabbit's

hearing. It's up to a wise earthworm to point out the winner--neither! A great

Vivian Walsh and J. otto Seibold (Olive, the Other Reindeer,Penguin Dreams) createanother winning, whimsical world in Gluey: A Snail Tale. The story beginswhen a bunny named Celerina finds a beautiful, empty house and moves right in.Little does she know, a snail named Gluey lives there, too, fixing all thehouse's cracks as carpenter snails like to do. One day, Celerina breaks a vase!Gluey tells her he could fix it, but his voice is so soft, she can't hear him. That night, he slowly repairs her vase. As this sort of gluey alchemy continuesto happen, Celerina becomes more and more convinced her house is magic. Shedecides to have a tea party to prove to her skeptical friends that dishes wouldbe repaired before their very eyes in her enchanted house! Of course, when theparty derails into a plate-breaking free-for-all, the house itself collapsesinto pieces. Seibold's sophisticated, retro, stylized illustrations and colorpalette are no less than fantastic, and Gluey is perhaps the cutest children'sbook snail of all time. Children will be crushed by the injustice Celerina showsGluey, then overjoyed at the end when they become friends. (Ages 5 and older)--Karin Snelson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A fabulous book!
My 3-year old twins and I (and any adult listening to us read it!) LOVE this book. We also are big Olive fans, but I think this one surpasses even that wonderful tale. I would highly recomment this delightful story to anyone who likes quirky, unconventional, but sweet books for their kids. Very creative and fun, but with a solid message about making presumptions about others. Great illustrations, too!

5-0 out of 5 stars very unusual
kids will be enthralled with the wonderful pictures..
and the story is so odd, yet the friendship between a bunny & snail is totally groovy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gluey Rules!
J.otto is one of the finest children's illustrators (and web animators) and he and Walsh have outdone themselves with Gluey, a Snail's Tale. J.otto's style is bright, attractive, and compelling. His pages are full of humorous details that children and adults will love to examine. The story of Gluey reveals the fallacies of superstition and quick judgments, and lauds hard work, friendship, loyalty, and reconciliation. A great book for everyone to enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars A really fun book to share with your child.
I bought this book for my three year old daughter because we love Olive the other Reindeer so much. This book is in the same vein with similar quirky illustrations. My daughter can follow most books geared for 4+ years old but she lost intrest in this one about half way through. The story is a bit complex and presents some jokes that are above her head. For instance there is a play on words. The word wee is used to mean small as in wee people and to mean together as in we did it together. The story is primarily about Celerina the bunny and Gluey the snail. Gluey the snail lives in a house and takes care of it by repairing it when things break. Celerina the bunny moves into the house not knowing Gluey the snail lives there. The two peacefully coexist for awhile with Celerina unaware of Gluey's existance. Whenever Celerina breaks something Gluey repairs it for her during the night. Celerina decides it is magic and let's her friends destroy the house to the point where Gluey can no longer fix it. When Gluey first catches Clerina's atention she chucks him over a fence intio a garden before he can tell her it is he who fixes the house. The next time they meet and Celerina realizes her mistake it is too late and the house is beyond repair. Fortunately for Gluey and Celerina the wee people who orginally built the house work together to repair the house back to it's orginal splendor. There are a lot of lessons at work in the story. You should not rush to judgement about someone you have just met the way Celerina does with Gluey and team work gets things done as in the case with the wee people repairing the house. This book is a little complex for my daughter but I know that when she gets a little older she will love it. It was fun for me to read too. The book has wit, humor, and heart just like Olive the Other Reindeer. I think any four year old child or older will have no trouble following the story and enjoy it as much as I do. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Bedtime (or anytime) Tale!
This is a wonderfully charming tale about a bunny who can't seem to get to sleep, so he goes to friend's house to friend's house trying to accomplish this task. In the end, he finds out that the best place to sleep is in his very own bed.
Wonderfully written!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lot's of fun and apparently very memorable!
My little boy (aged 2 and half) loves this book. He has it memorized word for word and has kept reciting the lines for a couple of months now.

5-0 out of 5 stars A lonely bunny finds peace with himself
This book is absolutely fantastic, and a must for families with a only child. The story illustrates how one can get mired in thinking that they need (unnecessary) companionship. For an only child, it teaches him or her that being in their own bed alone at night has the distinct advantage of peace and quiet. It is an absolutely lovely story with some very memorable lines. It is even a good message for adults who think 'companionship' is the answer over a good night's sleep.

5-0 out of 5 stars A clever, funny and entertaining tale.

What parent is prepared to answer the question "What does the Easter Bunny have to do with Easter?" This fluffy fellow is not part of traditional Sunday school discussions, yet every spring he makes an appearance in the forms of animated characters, marshmallow treats, and holiday stories. Harold Myra and Jane Kurisu, who have also addressed Christian vs. commercial messages during other holidays in Santa: Are You for Real? and Halloween: Is It for Real?, provide a way of talking about this confusing subjectfor young Christians. When three children begin to question their dad about the connection between the Easter Bunny and the real Easter, he tells them about Jesus being killed on the cross and his resurrection. "The Easter Bunny has nothing to do with the real Easter. The Easter Bunny--along with new leaves and flowers and new baby kittens and baby chicks--is part of how we celebrate spring. But that's all. Spring is God's picture of Jesus rising from the dead as all of nature comes to life again."

Kurisu's spring-bright palette makes a pleasing backdrop to Myra's straightforward, evenhanded text; chocolate bunnies and Easter egg hunts are not disparaged, only placed in context. (Ages 4 to 8) --EmilieCoulter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It helped me
This book has been around for a while. I grew up with a copy back in the late 70s and I have great memories of it. I grew up in a family that didn't go for the Santa Claus and Easter Bunny myths, and although my parents tried to teach a spirit of kindness and understanding, I had a tendancy to look down my nose at the poor gullible saps who fell for the myths. By providing a historical context for the secular Easter traditioins, this book helped temper my attitude and help me be more respectful of the Bunny Believers around me. It also reinforced my undertanding of the true focus of the holiday and it was nice as a kid to have a pretty picture book that said the same things that my parents did. I highly recommend it and plan on getting a copy of this and the Santa Claus equivalent for my children.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
This book does a great job explaining how "The Easter Bunny has nothing to do with the real Easter." It gives a simple explanation of Jesus death and how he rose from the grave. It also explains how celebrating Spring (New baby animals , flowers and trees blooming)"is God's picture of Jesus rising from the dead as all of Nature comes to life again" It explains how Eggs and Coloring them became part of the easter tradition and says that spring time and the real Easter got mixed up.

In the book a child ask if it is Ok to celebrate Spring by Hiding eggs The answer is Sure , if we also remember that on the real Easter Jesus rose from the dead. It mentions going to Church to celebrate Easter. The book puts the focus back on Jesus where it should be, and not on the Easter Bunny. I love this book!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Easter Bunny Are You for Real?
This is a great book to read with your children to help them see beyond (but yet still enjoy) the Easter Bunny and Easter eggs, and understand the true meaning of Easter in the Christian faith.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easter Bunny: Are You for Real
This book is an excellent choice for any three (3) to eight (8) year old. It is an especially appropriate choice for a christian family that would like to teach its children about their religious reasons for celebrating Easter. I like the tie-in to the secular message since that is what our children see all around them. The illustrations are very nice and are sure to please your young child. I believe that this is a wonderful addition to our library. It makes the perfect Easter basket gift. My three (3) year-old is the lucky recipient this Easter. I have four (4) children and several hundred childrens titles in our home. I think the whole family will enjoy this book as a read-aloud book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Share Christ's resurrection without killing the Easter Bunny
Every year I get my girls a book concerning Christ'sresurrection to try and counterbalance the commercialism of Eastertime. However, this year I am excited about offering a book that does more than just show the counterpoint to the Easter Bunny. Mr. Myra does a great job of addressing issues of secular Easter (i.e., bunny, eggs, baby chicks) within the context of the Christian Easter. What a delight to find that this book did not deny or disparage the Easter Bunny (and the joy my 6 year old gets in believing), but rather put this (as well as other traditions i.e., egg coloring, etc.) in the context of spring and Christ's resurrection. I highly recommend this book to Christian parents who want to share the glories of Christ's resurrection without squelching the childhood joys of an Easter Bunny. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a fun and low-stress way to mark the first year
I highly recommend this calendar or one like it for you and for all your pregnant friends. I never could get around to keeping one of those pre-fabricated "baby's first year" journals, but this calendar is easy, flexible, and fun to keep. Especially nice are the make-your-own stickers to supplement the many stickers they include. We added, for example, "first airplane trip," "first bike ride," and, unfortunately, "first headcold." ...
