5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
With great illustrations, my 3 years old son can read out the story even without knowing the words. The story is about a rabbit that was struck in the street with cement. The animals in busy town tried to find ways to get the rabbit out, including using big fan, dump truck, stick, and finally power shovel to scoop him up. It is amazing that just with the simple questions, like "Can we blow him out?" can arouse the interest of the little reader to read the book. This is one of favourite bedtime stories for my son. It is really a great book. I highly recommend this book for toddlers.

5-0 out of 5 stars THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, THIS BOOK IS FUN!
Like other richard scarry books this one has the usual FUN cast of characters....The pictures are charming and the words are not imtimidating. It would be easy to follow and predict the words because the pictures are so discriptive. This was a great early reader book.:) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet Book
I picked this book up in a bookstore and couldn't leave without it. This book is about Little Noises. Little noises that bunnies, and bees, and babies can make. I love the shift from onomatopoeia to open ended questions that lead the child to make the noises. One reviewer commented that the story reads like a draft. I think it reads like a natural progression of thought and conversation, with no contrived rhythm or rhyme, and I like it that way. My favorite line is "Yes. It was a bumblebee."

The illustrations are just Beautiful. I like the contrast between the polish of the surroundings and the scruffiness of the bunny. And I love the lilacs.

I just think it's a wonderful, sweet book.

2-0 out of 5 stars What was that?
THAT was the sound of my daughter throwing the book in the trash.

As the editorial reads, the text feels more like a draft than a finished book. One of the great aspects of Goodnight Moon was that it had a rhythm that made it enjoyable to listen and read; this book does not settle into a rhythm, although it tries to, at at the end. The good points are what the bunny does, not what it hears. My daughter liked to pretend to eat the red clover with the bunny.

A premise of the book is that a page would give a new sound, and the next page would identify it. This is what initially held my daughter's interest, but without the rhythm or art, this quickly became uninteresting.

As for the illustrations, everything BUT the little bunny is drawn well. The little bunny's head seems distorted in some pictures and ALWAYS has a cloying O-face. I like the bees and red clover.

Parents will get tired of reading this book pretty quickly, and it'll take just a little bit longer for children to tire of it.

5-0 out of 5 stars You Must Get This!!
I bought this book for my son for this Easter (kind of early I know...but was just thinking ahead :) ) I always review the books I give my children first and I fell in love with this one from the start. The illustrations are so sweet and inviting.
I have ordered 4 more books to send to other children that I know. Dont pass this book by! It is an absolute delight!

5-0 out of 5 stars An Adorable Book
This book is absolutely adorable. The text and illustrations are a perfect match. I especially enjoy the illustrations done with such brilliant colors and extra little details, such as the little grasshopper hidden within the drawings. It is fun to try to find them. I've only counted 12, but I think there must be thirteen, because in the dedication she mentions that there is a character shown thirteen times in the drawings.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Colorful Splash of Laughter!
My daughters - a preschooler and a toddler - gravitate to Max and Ruby like magnets. The board book Ruby's Rainy Day proved no exception. Shiny foil raindrops splash across the book cover. Lively rainbow colors brighten the ten sturdy pages inside. The story itself is an abridged version of a comical episode on TV's Nickelodeon. Little brother Max wants to go outside to play "Baseball!" Big sister Ruby insists they both don layer after layer of rain gear first. Your child can learn colors while laughing at the antics of these lovable rabbits.

5-0 out of 5 stars My little boy loves it.
Maybe it's the sparkly raindrops, maybe it's the vibrant colors, or maybe it's the size... at 7 months of age it's hard to tell what it is my little boy loves about this book. One thing's for sure, he loves it! When he's old enough I expect the repetition in the dialogue will be a winner and the themes featuring color and sequence will keep him fascinated. Me, I love the little joke at the end and of course watching his delight in this book. ... Read more

Baby and Bunny pop bubbles, look at books, wear beads, and chase each other through pretty fields and purple gardens. With its soft yellows, violets, and greens, this delicately decorated story about friendship lost and found unfolds in fewer than five words per page."Baby touches Bunny's nose." "Bunny chases a ball." All goes well, everyone's getting along swimmingly... until "Bunny hops away."Will Baby find Bunny? Only time and a few lovely pages will tell. The mother-daughter team of Adele Aron Greenspun and Joanie Schwarz has created a simple, sweet tale with few words and soft photographs of a sweater-clad baby and a droopy-eared bunny--both real, both adorable. Each picture is elaborately framed with hazy, dreamlike backgrounds of rolling meadows and distant woodlands. There's not much of a story here, but it won't matter; pre-readers will love the unusual pictures and realistic, unembellished language. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Delightful
My one-yar-old son loves this book!

In this delightful book, Baby and Bunny play together, get separated and reuinte. The large text goes left to right with few words on a page. The photographs of Baby and Bunny have been enhanced by the author's daughter, Joanie Schwarz, and have a soft, Victorian look full of emotion.

I do not tire of reading this book and looking at its pictures over and over again.

5-0 out of 5 stars So engaging
Although the recommended age level for this book is higher, my one-year old daughter loves it. The photographs are so clear and engaging to her; she loves to mimic the baby pictured. It also reinforces new words in her growing vocabulary (nose, toes, ball, etc.) It is a sweet story that encourages reading to your children. Our active child sits still to see where Bunny turns up every time!

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book for all young children
We have a four year old and an 18 mnonth old and they both love this book. The pictures are beautifully simple, as is the text. My four year old loves the part when the baby loses the bunny (a beautiful image of the baby crying), and rejoices when she finds him again. My youngest likes the rhyme of the text, and the simple pictures. This is a really great book - I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Adorable
I purchased this book the first time I saw it in the bookstore because the lop is identical to my own lop. I used it in the classroom for a story prompter, and to help explain descriptive words, it worked wonders. This book had a short life due to the love that it received in the classroom. I have already ordered my third copy of it. A definite must read!

5-0 out of 5 stars Every baby I've met loves this book dearly.
Of the hundred-plus books my two children (3 and 2) have, they always return to the Barefoot Books' "Mother Goose Remembers" and this one. "Bunny and Me" is charming and lovely, with careful and non-cheesy photography/artwork. The baby's face (and the lop-eared bunny's, too) is full of expression: amusement, curiosity, sadness, joy, contentment. There's a simple story the child experiences with the baby: baby and bunny, baby loses bunny, baby finds bunny, baby and bunny are happy. The text rhymes simply without strain, and babies are delighted by lines (with accompanying images) like "baby wears beads/bunny wears beads" and "bunny kisses baby's doll/baby laughs." Every baby and small child I've encountered gravitates to this book and can't read it often enough. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A gem for a third grade teacher!
This book is perfect for the third grade curriculum that I teach. We are supposed to cover multicultural lessons as stated by the standards. This book lends itself beautifully for this. After purchasing a "Felix" type rabbit for our mascot, I used the book to travel to different countries, conveniently the ones that Felix also visited. By using the activity book that can also be purchased, each child had a world map and we placed stickers as we visited each land that Felix had visited, and also completed activities, and minor research about each country. Rome, one of the places visited was a great introduction to the Olympics that will be happening in Australia. The visit to the land of knights and ladies was perfect for our introduction into fairy tales.(Folk Literature-3rd grade standard)Finally, a visit to an Indian settlement. The Plains Indians is also part of our social studies curriculum. Not only does this book give us a brief insight into many cultures, the students love having a class mascot and can't wait to see what area we will get a peek into next.

5-0 out of 5 stars My little son loved it so much!
Sweet little stuffed Felix escaped during a museums visit from Sophie, his fellow from baby times. He started a journey into the past, sending Sophie letters from every station. You can pull out the letters from their envelopes and read about Felix adventures in History. He wondered about the knights in mediveal castles, joined the vikings and send a construction plan from their drageon ships home to Sophie. He met the Red Indians and wrote about the old culture technics developed in the far east. The next letter arrives from greece, explaining the origin of alympiad and the myths. Before travelling home he joined our anchestors in stony times to report their simple life style. My little son especially loved reading about the knights and the vikings. He shared Sophies fear for Felix and her happiness when he retured home, finally. This book is wunderfully written and beaturfully painted. It inspired us to talk and learn about history! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A true picturebook classic
Charmingly written by Margaret Wise Brown and superbly illustrated by Leonard Weisgard, The Gold Egg Book is a true picturebook classic telling the story of the rambling imagination of one little bunny as he tries to figure out just what is inside a beautiful blue egg. A whole new generation of children ages 2 to 5 will delight in this lively story as the bunny tries to shake, push, and even jump on the egg in his attempts to break it. But the egg won't hatch until it is ready! The Golden Egg Book will prove to be an enthusiastically popular addition to family, preschool, and community library collections.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still Enchanting after all these years
I loved this book as a child, and still find it magical after more decades than I'd like to admit. It's a gentle story about wonder, imagination, surprise, and friendship, and Weisgard's illustrations are enchanting. It just doesn't get much better than this. I'm in the book biz, and in my profession I look at lots and lots of picture books.
"The Golden Egg Book" has a universal appeal that still holds its own after all these years, and will continue to engage children for a long time. ... Read more

A children's book that's easy to read and keeps my child interested. Great book.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Sneak a Peek at this version of Pandora's Box!"
NO! THIS MEANS YOU!
What good is a sign posted on your bedroom door if your nosy 3-year-old brother can't read it? To keep Max away from her forbidden jewelry box, 7-year-old Ruby reads a light-hearted version of the Greek myth Pandora's Box.

The text is more detailed than a typical Max and Ruby board book written for toddlers. The advanced vocabulary includes words such as temptation, magnetic, propelled, forbidden, and terraceum (a word created for this book, I believe). But we've never met a Max and Ruby book we didn't like, and this one was no exception. If you're as curious as Pandora, sneak a peek at Well's other Greek myth Max and Ruby's Midas.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great way to get kids interested in Greek myths
My 2 boys, ages 5 and 2, really enjoy this book. It uses a universal sibling problem---one touching another's property---to set up a retelling of Pandora's Box. In this version, Pandora's Box contains bugs, which are then eaten by a big spider---a real child pleaser touch! My older son says he likes this book because "it's one book inside another book". He loves the idea of a story within a story, and gets excited that at the end "Max and Ruby are back again!" ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Beatrix Potter
Reading these books was fun for me as a child but I never enjoyed them as much as Beatrix Potter. The english author wrote in a more mature, fairy tale style that children could still relate to while these books have more of a folk tale background. However, some of Burgesses books are better than this one and I urge you to read Reddy Fox instead of Mr Toad.
