The perfect book for the perfect day.
I gave this book to my father for father's day. It tells the charming story of a young girl and the relationship she has with her father. She wants to spend Father's Day with her Dad doing all the things he loves. Instead they do the things she loves to do and like every good Dad he goes along and pretends they are his favorite things too. Awesome!
Well, other than the fact that I would wake up early every saturday mornings to listen on the internet, it teaches a very important lesson. I'll start at the begining:

1. The main idea is to put your faith in religion, rather than science, but it doens't just teach in one episode, but takes it to the extreme and shows that when all hope seems lost, pray, and trust everything in god.

2. The storyline is terrific! I won't spoil any surprises, but I will tell you this:

-Novacom releases this "Novabox" thats supposed to heal you.
-Someone is trying to steal the Imagination Station!
-Oh no! Murders?
-Some students figure out the secret of the Novabox & go to the utter extreme to try to destroy it.
-Bill Riely's wife is back because of the Novabox?!?!
-Did Bill Riely really blow up the tower!?
-Many EXTREME surprises

Well, if you are a fan of Adventures in Odyssey, and radio dramas, then I suggest that you go out and buy it!

Hang on for the Climax
Novacom is growing stronger. In spite of all Whit and the gang have done, they seem to be gaining support. And it's not exactly like they're doing anything wrong. Or is it? Slowly, the kids begin to uncover some things that just aren't right. But will Whit, Jason, Connie, Tom, and the others figure things out in time?

Every one of these 12 episodes contributes to the Novacom story is some form or other. The writers have done a good job of building this story. But, if you think you know where this story is going, don't bet on it. There are several surprises in the story line here and everything ties together perfectly for the ending. I was glued to my seat waiting to reach that climax, too. They also do a good job here of tying in elements from their many years on the air. I loved some of the references to episodes from their first couple of seasons.

Fans waiting to see how the Novacom storyline resolves itself will be thrilled with the outcome. If you've missed the last couple of collections, you'll want to go back and hear them before you listen to this one so everything makes sense. ... Read more

A Collection of Classics
This set of six tapes (12 episodes) contains the original Dr. Blackgaard story line. Not all are related to that story arch, however.

It starts with the first IMAGINATION STATION adventure, in which Digger Digger Digwillow goes back in time to experience the death and resurrection of Christ. I'm now 26, have heard the program multiple times, and this simple two parter still moves me to tears.

Other non-Blackgaard episodes include the classic Barclay family vacation in Odyssey (OUR BEST VACATION EVER) and the introduction of Wonderworld in the hilarious HEATWAVE.

The other episodes all revolve around the initial Blackgaard arch. They include A BITE OF APPLESAUCE, EUGENE'S DILEMMA, CONNIE GOES TO CAMP, THE NEMESIS, and THE BATTLE. These last three are two parters. As a whole, these make a great story, but are even more interesting when listened to in relation to later Blackgaard episodes. The summer they first aired, they kept my brother and I glued to the radio wondering what would happen next.

I highly recommend this great collection. It's radio drama at its best: good story telling and great characters.

Daring deads, Sinister schemes
Where do they get the names for these albums? It's a great name and it contains many, many good episodes. We also get to meet Dr. Blackgaard in this album, which may be the highlight of it.

The Best of all the Early Odyssey Albums

Making your own way
Young Jamie wakes early on St. Patrick's Day, much earlier than his sleeping family. He remembers that there will be a parade to the top of Acorn Hill today, and then he remembers that his brothers say he's too little to march in the parade.

Well, fine then! He'll just have a parade of his own!! Jamie sets off in his green sweater, hat and coat with Nell the dog and march up the center of town to Acorn Hill by themselves. Along the way, the meet some of the other villagers, one of whom gives Jamie an Irish flag that he proudly waves in his own parade. Does he make it to the top?? You'll have to read to find out!!

"St. Patrick's Day in the Morning" is a beautiful story for any child who has ever been told that they're too small, too weak, too short, too this, too that, to do something. You can see Jamie's' happiness at proving everyone wrong. The pen and ink illustrations are lush and detailed: you could count the shingles in the roofs or the bricks in the walls. Green and a little yellow are the only colors in the book, emphasizing the spirit and colors of St. Pats in Jamie's sweater, the flag of Ireland and, of course, the lush green grasses of the Emerald Isle.

Because it's not a book about the history or legend of St. Patrick, there is no reason to limit it's reading only to March 17th. Teachers would find it a useful book in teaching both about Ireland and, of course, proving that smaller doesn't mean incapable. A fine book by Bunting and Brett, and highly recommended. ... Post-Whit shows off to a stong start
This is the first full set that take place after Whit took off to the Middle East (in real life, Hal Smith, the voice of Whit, had died. About 2 years later they found Paul Herlinger to carry on the character). There was apparently some fear that the show would fall apart. However, it seems that the writers were stretched creatively, and the result is a great set of episodes. Possibly the most notable is the 2-part "A Name, Not a Number" where Whit's son Jason moves to Odyssey to help run Whit's shop. It covers Jason's life in Government Intelligence, and how it follows him to Odyssey. We also meet Jack Allen (voiced by Mr. Ed's Allen Young), and old friend of Whit who has moved to Odyssey to help run Whit's End. Also, Tom Riley decides to run for mayor, but runs into opposition from mysterious means. There's a LOT to like in this one, and for long-time listers, it sets the stage for a lot more in future shows. ... Read more

The absolute best of the new sibling books!
Many of our friends and family are in the time of life when the families are expanding, so a book to soften the blow to a newly de-throned older sibling is just the thing. When we visit a family with a present for a new baby, I ALWAYS make sure I have this book in hand for the older child. The only thing I vary is which version I give (hardcover, paperback and board book based on the age of the child).
The book is full of incredibly beautiful images of a simple life with text that is rhythmic and flowing. It exudes love and caring without being smothering or indulgent. It reinforces the idea that a new sibling, rather than being an annoyance, actually adds to the joy that is family life!
It is, far and away, the best of the books I have seen on the subject and I've looked at dozens! We even have several that were given to my son when my daughter was born, however, this is the only one that stayed in our reading repertoire. The children still sometimes go back to it (and mine are 6 and 8 now). "There's always room... on Mother's lap" was nearly a mantra in our house for a number of years!

Beautiful Story and Illustrations
This book tells the story of a little boy who, while curled on his Mother's lap, wants to bring all sorts of other objects up with him... until the baby wants to be included. Of course, there's "always room on Mother's lap" which the little boy finds is not only true but a pleasant experience for him as well.

I love the restful illustrations and the ethnic items the young boy wants to have with him on mom's lap. The overall story is one of sweet acceptance and a perfect read for a young older sibling.

A very nice book but for a little bit older child
I love this story but my son is only 16 months and it doesn't hold his attention as well as some of the other books we bought ("I'm a Big Brother," "The New Baby") to prepare him for becoming a big brother. The story is just beautiful and it reads very well; he's just not interested in it. I think if he was a little older, he might like it better.

Good Ol' Mom
This adorable book tells the simple story of a little boy who not only wants to be on Mother's lap (but not little brother!), he wants to pile all his favorite things on her, too. It happens to be set in an Alaskan village, and some items in the room are of interest for those children learning about Alaska. The Mother in the book is very patient and wise, and lets her boy know that "There's always room on Mother's lap." A very sweet and loving book.

Gentle and Loving!

Excellent for both children and parent
I found this book just incredible. The stories are just wonderful for teaching the children valuable lessons and virtues. It's hard to explain the book, other than that my kids enjoyed hearing them, I enjoyed reading them, and the lessons in the stories challenge both child and parent alike.

Could have been broader
Nicely done.It is difficullt to find good books that teach the virtues of faith without being heavy handed.I would have liked a few more faith stories from non-Christian traditions.My seven year old is enjoying it.

FAITHFUL!
This beautiful, gently written and illustrated book will certainly appeal to all ages.It is a delightful presentation of Christianity and, I think, provides a gentle overview of Christian concepts.Young readers will especially appreciate the illustrations.This book is an excellent teaching tool and a good way to form conversations regarding to Christian faiths.It is a treasure and a wonderful part of any family.I really love this book.

Inspirational; not just for children
Where is the greatest source of wisdom in today's society? Despite the common cries of cultural despair, William Bennett has rightly identified the Bible as the source of the moral tenets which we aim to inspire in our children. LOVE IT

LullaBible - I love it!
This book and the cd's that are included allow you some of the most relaxing time. You can put the cd on at night with the volumn down low, and just drift off to sleep in God's presence. This item is for Mother and Baby and both will enjoy it for many years to come. I buy it for baby shower gifts and the recipient has always been very pleased.

I'll probably be listening to this when I am old and grey. Oh yeah, they say once and adult, twice a child - oh well - it's good easy listening - enjoy yours.

A Wonderful Gift for Mom & Baby
This is a beautiful book and CD combo. The book is beautifully put together, and the songs are just as beautiful. The book contains sheet music, so you could even play it on the piano or another musical instrument if you wanted to. The songs are made from stories in the Bible, starting at Genesis and ending in Revelation. A great gift created especially for mothers and babies. I purchased this for my 5 month old with his baptism money. Themusic and the book are both beautiful, the book containing beautifullyillustrated poems which are set to music on the CDs.
