5-0 out of 5 stars Sailor Mercury
This book was so good . I know if you are a tru sailor moon fan you'll find it like , offensiv n stuff with the so called ämericanizing"of the stoy .But i think, that first of all Dic dubbed it all right. If they hadn't most people wouldn't know who sailor moon was then, think that dic is an american organazation so um duh it's gonna have some american parts. So then think the guy that wrote this book probably doesen't know jappanesse and hardly any of the jappanesse episodes are subtitled so he saw the n/a version and changed things around a bit.Just like dic.:) this book is really good if you really , honestly think u know the history of sailor moon.so before dissing this book judt like the other two and probabaly mars attaks in the future, think about the history of thr book so i give amazon a thumbs up for having these books in stock you should definetly give it a chance like th other ones BUY THIS BOOK!

3-0 out of 5 stars IS THIS A SAILORMOON BOOK...OR A COMMERCIAL BOOK?
I have absolutely no problem with the basic storyline. It's written fine if they're trying to reflect the badly dubbed DiC series. However, in various points of the book, Mixx advertises...FOR THEMSELVES! At one part, Serena(Who SHOULD be called Usagi) is reading a Mixx magazine called Smile Magazine, and says, "Oh Kemmy, you are so rockin'! I wish I could be a sushi delivery girl!" Kemmy is Mixx's character from SushiGirl. Then, when Serena is recommending MANGA(Japanese Comics)to Amy(Ami) she says,"Sailor V is a perfect start."(Sailor V being Mixx's eqivalent of Sailor Moon.)Serena also states "I also think that Magic Knight Rayearth 1-3 and the first SushiGirl should do it!" In case you didn't know, Mixx has the rights to all of these. So in conclusion, another piece spoiled by Mixx's shameless self-promotion.

4-0 out of 5 stars American Sailor Moon, 3
This is excellent compared to the first two books. Lianne Sentar obviously likes this job, and is actually qualified for it. Not only does she tell us what's going on, but unlike the first books, she adds some more emotion to make us feel Serena Tsukino is a real girl with the same real life humans have.

I have to say I like her style, and the only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because I dislike the American version of many, many animes.

2-0 out of 5 stars Hmph
I'm so sick and tired of how these people do Sailor Moon. They don't know jack about it, all they want is the money and it's just plain SAD! I'm not going to blame Lianne because I KNOW Mixxine are the ones making her write these books in such a [bad] not even KINDERGARDEN fashion. All this American additive stuff. Uh-uh. It's just so STUPID! The only reason I gave this book 2 stars was because it's the only one I read twice. They all look cute on bookshelves though... And they rate this "Young Adult." PUH-LEEZE. I hate it. It makes me literally want to cry seeing how Sailor Moon is slowly being chewed up to be spat out resulting in nothing. Mixxine needs to get their ACT together and start making some REAL stuff. These Sailor Moon novels could be great if people wouldn't act so DUMB with it's writing. Those harpies. They really get on my nerves. If you want some REAL Sailor Moon stories your best bet is fanfics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy it for Lianne if nothing else...
Okay, I know that most of you otakus out there might buy this expecting it to be like the original manga or show. But in all reality, it most likely won't turn out that way. Why? For one simple reason: all of the novels now written by Lianne Sentar are done so by an original Otaku and fanfic writer. Fanfic writer, you ask? A fanfic writer is someone who writes stories about the original characters, keeping them in character or going on a total tangent. I have read some of Lianne-sama's original fanfics, and if they are any indication as to her writing talents, then I would definatly say you should pick up her novels. As for the other guy... well, I don't know about him. Support fanfic writers everywhere by buying Lianne-sama's Sailor Moon novels! ... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Meet Sailor Venus is a great buy!
Meet Sailor Venus is a must have for Sailor Venus Fans. It's over 80 pages of fun facts and pictures in a handy "Disney Adventures" size format.

Included in the work are illustrated synopses of Venus-centric episodes from the first 4 seasons of Sailor Moon, *including* the _Sailor V_ episode which DIC cut from the North American dub, a brief look into the astrology and mythology behind Venus (the planet and indrectly the Senshi), answers from Minako to personal questions illustrated with scenes from various episodes, and other fun surprises!

PROS:

The book is remarkably comprehensive, pulling in background information from the manga and the anime to make an excellent Sailor V / Sailor Venus / Aino Minako (Mina Aino in the book) compendium.

The pictures, are of course, first rate.

CONS:

Since this book is directly translated from the Japanese original, you have to look at the pictures from right to left, otherwise the order doesn't make sense (this is important because unlike other MIXX works, the pictures in the original were not reversed to compensate for the way Westerners read). Also, the captions are turned sideways to fit in the areas where horizontal Japanese writing would normally go. This can wear on the eyes after a time.

There are also some tiny editing glitches, like her attacks being called "Love Chain Encircle" and "Love Me Chains" on alternate pages, and the names "Serena" and "Bunny" being used on the same page, but these are fairly minor nitpicky problems which in no way detract from the fun of the book, which is what's really important.

Even with that, as I said before, it's a must-have for any fan of V-chan. Five stars.

4-0 out of 5 stars Suggested for Otaku, Artists, and Website Owners
At only 93 pages, this book may seem a little expensive [...]. However, i believe the Scout Guides were intended for otaku (anime fanatics), and devoted fans of the show. This book has lots of pictures, so it's great for us artists. For you website owners, it has lots of character statistics, as well as episode information. If you're looking for insight into Sailor Venus as a person, this is a nifty book, which reminds you why you love her. It even has translations of the Japanese songs, which adds alot of depth.
The big thing to watch out for, however, is that you get confused by the layout. In the episode summaries, the events may seem to occur out of order, maybe even backwords. Fans who know how to read Japanese manga (right-to-left) will have an easier time with this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL!
This book is great. If you are a fan of Sailor Venus this is a must-have! The info is accurate and the pictures are mind boggling! (Great.) I recommand you buy this book!!

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT! GREAT!
This book is GREAT! The information is accurate and the pictures are awesome! If you're a big Venus fan, YOU HAVE to get this book! It's wonderful! Even if you are not a big venus fan,YOU STILL HAVE to get it! It's a must-have for all fans!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Nice And Informative
This is the best book you can get for information on Sailor Venus... Except one thing..... All of the Scout Guides are the same in the way that they make all the scouts un-modest! I know it sounds rediculous, but really, it's highly unrelistic and that's one thing they need to change. They are all like "Yes, and I'm beautifull and thin and long legged and I have the most wonderfull body!" Really! They all sound like clones! But besides that, these are great Sailor Moon books, that yu've just got to have if your a fan....

Book Description

A small classic of travel writing and an indelible portrait of a young man coming of age during the Great Depression.

In 1933, Clarence Jonk, full of youthful naïveté and an urge for adventure, decided to build a houseboat from scrap materials and float it the length of the Mississippi River. In the tradition of Huckleberry Finn and Henry David Thoreau, Jonk recounts a first-person tale of high adventure complete with wry and lyrical observations on life, love, and nature that capture the beauty and harshness of existence along the Mississippi River.

Hoping to live rent free on a St. Paul lake in hard times, Jonk, a carefree college student and would-be poet, cobbled together his own houseboat from empty oil drums, scrap lumber, and two old Model T engines. Then, evicted by the local authorities, Jonk hauled his rudderless craft through city traffic to the Mississippi and boldly set out from Minneapolis bound for New Orleans in the chill month of October and into the teeth of an early winter. Accompanied at times by his sweetheart, friends, and a dog, Jonk fell overboard, was almost capsized by a blizzard, encountered hostile moonshiners, and fled angry farmers while scrounging for provisions on shore. Inexperience, hasty plans, and little cash made the journey a harrowing yet entertaining one as the boat reached La Crosse, Wisconsin, before being locked perilously in shifting ice for the winter.

RIVER JOURNEY is as much a portrait of a now-vanished era as it is about a free-spirited man's attempt to find escape from mundane responsibility during the Great Depression. It is a story that begins in delight and ends in wisdom. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mississippi River state of mind
Clarence Jonk's classic book is the story of a poor but idealistic young man and his adventures of living on the Mississippi River on a home-made houseboat during the Great Depression. Originally published in 1964, it has been re-released in 2003.

There is something about living by a big river that makes one wonder what the river leads to. It turns out that the destination is not so much a place as a state of mind. The power and magic of the river are transformative and when your journey is over you are better for it. I think that the same can be said for Clarence Jonk's River Journey - if you read it you will be better for it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sailor Moon Returns.....finally!
Now, I would just like to get it out there that I am not a mother of a 6 year old Sailor Moon fan. I'm 14 years old, a guy and a VERY big fan of SM. Once I heard that these books were coming out, I though "WOW! Finally, Sailormoon stuff that litle kids will be able to enjoy!" Little did I know that I would stumble over volumes one and two the next day, buy them, and read them in 45 minutes later that day.

The books have fairly big, plain print, making it very easy for kids to read them. No big words are used, and all of the "I'm"s and "don't"s have bee changed to "I am"s and "Do not"s. Very simple to read. ALSO, it isn't girly (ie...the pages aren't pink and Serena doesn't say "as if" every 3 lines) so boys will like it too!

The pictures in these things...WOW! They are half-page to full-page captures from the show! And I realized how well the book descibed things like the Luna Mind Meld.

I would HIGHLY recommend this book for any children, guys or girls, and for Sailor Moon fans that want a nice review of Sailor Moon R. They aren't too expansive (3 of these for 1 graphic novel) so buy them! You'll enjoy it!

3-0 out of 5 stars The Return Of Sailor Moon
...First of all, I would just like to point out that this book wasn't written by Naoko Takeuchi. She is Japanese. She lives in Japan....And she has no control over Scholastic or Tracey West, who is the author of "The Return Of Sailor Moon"

(And now,the actual review)

I don't think this is the best book to get for someone who is new to Sailor Moon, because the story starts from the second season, which can be pretty confusing if you haven't watched the show before. However,if you are a fan of Sailor Moon, and are not embarassed to read and/or buy picture books,it's worth a look. At least they haven't got Serena wearing clothes from The Gap and listening to the *shudder* Backstreet Boys...Although I didn't understand why they wrote in the theme song at the beginning of the book. That was pretty pointless...

1-0 out of 5 stars Take it away!
How I think this works-
The Sailor Moon Manga by Naoko Takeuchi-Wonderful.
The Japanese Anime-OK
The American Dubbed Version-Just Plain Sorry
This Book-Horrible
You notice how it keeps getting worse? I can barely see ANYTHING from the manga in this book. Please Naoko, I beg of you, make it stop!

4-0 out of 5 stars Every lil Moonie should have this one!
I felt that this book was awesome for kids. As an older sibling and Sailor Moon fan, I bought this book for my sister who absolutely loved it. It's great for the little kids with pictures and easy-read. Any little girl (or boy) under the age of about 9 who loves Sailor Moon should own this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lita's View
I thought this book wouldn't be as good as it is when I first bought it. If you are a fan of Sailor Jupiter, like me, then you'll really enjoy this book. The pictures are great, the information is fun to read even if you think you know everything about Sailor Jupiter. The poems are really nice too. I would recommend this book to beginner or expert.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sailor Jupiter's Book is okay
I have Sailor Venus and Sailor Mars' Scouts Guides and I think these books are made for younger kids. Well, Sailor Mars' Scout Guide is but Sailor Venus' is okay. Sailor Jupiter's is better. To me a true Sailor Moon fan should have all the books (like me) but Sailor Venus' is the best. But in Sailor Jupiter's Guide, the pictures are the best thing about the book. The poems at the end are good too. Buy this book, it's good!

5-0 out of 5 stars Must have for SM fans!
This Scout guide on Sailor Jupiter is the best! When you're reading the book it feels as ALMOST you're talking to them. You can see their favorite fashions, foods, hobbies, and ect. When's Lita's birthday? What's her favorite color? If you guessed green you're wrong! I was even suprised at this! What I'm saying this is a must have for inner senshi fans! it really teaches you about Sailor Jupiter!!! Did I mention the pictures are GREAT!

5-0 out of 5 stars I WANT TO GET THIS BOOK!
Im a huge MakotoKino/SailorJupiter Fan. I mean i have the same hair color and get this i wear my hair just like Makoto everyday. Jupiter is my favorite next to Usagi. I kinda do look like Makoto well maybe a little bit. If you want to see Sailor Stars on TV go to www.SailorMoonPetitionhomestead.com. If you go to this website we might actually get to see Sailor stars edited, unedited, Dubbed version on the midnight run or The orignal Subtitle Version on tv. So if you want to see sailor Stars go to that website. I have Sailor Stars on VHS its great.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Really Fun And Informative Book

5-0 out of 5 stars Sailor Moon Rocks!
I absolutely love Sailor Moon and I can't wair for the next book to come out. I especially enjoy these manga versions because I like the characters a little more than on the TV show, especially Rini. It's also great that Naoko Takeuchi is re-releasing the comics so avid fans can see where it all started. In Sailor Moon #8, you basically get the first half of the Sailor Moon S season, with a few important changes. I won't say what changes because that gives it away, however, I will let you know that I'm dying to read the next issue after the cliffhanger ending to #8! Anyway, I totally recommend this book to Sailor Moon fans and anime fans in general.

5-0 out of 5 stars Die Hard Sailor Moon Fan...AKA Moonie
I have been a big fan of Sailor Moon ever since they showed it at 6:30 in the morning on the WB and USA. Sailor Moon totally rocks! If you ever need a book with a good plot and great drawings, pick any of the Sailor Moon Graphic Novel Series! This book totally rocks and it leaves you hanging, making you want more!

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best
Loved it! Very good plot throughout the whole series! Illustrations are excellent! Overall my favorite series of all time. Sailor Moon is my favorite. I'm a big reader and have read many fantastic books, but this series remains the top of my list!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pluto reappears!!!
They have a few lebien moments, so you might not like it. But that doesn't really matter to me because I love Sailor Moon no matter what. In the first chapter:
The Inner scouts see two new scouts.
Sailor Moon destroyed Eugiel.
In the second chapter:
The scouts go to a concert where the Enemy invades.
In the third chapter:
Death Busters attack Amy
In the fourth chapter:
Sailor Pluto appears[ as Setsuna Meioh]!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Sailor Moon: The Title Character Revealed!!
I just bought this a few months ago, and boy! was I in for a surprise!! When I first saw this book, I flipped through the pages and I noticed all the cool pics from the anime. It also has some pics from the Japanese version, too! This SM book is really informative. It has many insights into Serena Tsukino's life, her transformations, special fighting moves, fashion, family, and friends. In addition, it features summaries of never-before-seen episodes that only aired in Japan, an encyclopedia full of FAQs, and a couple of lovely poems.

But I only gave this book 4 stars for several reasons: 1. It's a bit pricey at a cost of $13.00. 2. The book only covers the first 3 seasons (BSSM, R, and S)and doesn't include Super S and/or Stars. Since, this book was published in America before Super S and Stars had ever reached our shores. 3. The Outer Senshi still have their Japanese names. For example, Sailor Pluto is Setsuna instead of Trista, considering the fact that it's mainly made for the dubbed version. I would think they've gotten names right already. 4. (This refers to No. 3) Some of her attacks are named differently, such as Moon Tiara Action instead of Moon Tiara Magic.

But, overall this is a pretty good book that any SM fan would enjoy. I know I have! It's a must-get, must-read, highly recommend book!

4-0 out of 5 stars Go Sailor Moon!
I was really debating whether or not to get this book. A, it was expensive, and B, it didn't look like their was a lot of reading in it. I decided to get it, and I'm glad I did. Since Moon is the most popular of the Sailors, this book is snatched up quickly. I was very happy with the book. It had facts on Serena and her alter-ego, Sailor Moon, 50 secrets (faves, stats, friends, etc.), A guide to the 5 best Sailor Moon epsodes, A Sailor Moon encyclopedia, A transformation gallery (many nice pics in it), A guide to friends and family, Her famous lines, famous battles, and two poems/illustrations. This book has tons and tons of colored pictures, many of them funny and cute. You get to know Sailor Moon according to Serena herself, so its funny. If you like Sailor Moon, you are sure to like this. Something else about this book: I didn't know a ton about Sailor Moon, so this book was very imformative.

3-0 out of 5 stars ummmm.... yeah
I bought this book thinkin "o new info on sailor moon, great" but when I got it, I realized it was just the basics that most moonies know anyway. I was also expecting it to be completly horizontal lines. but no, the author had to throw in some verticals so you have to either tilt your head in an uncomfortable position or move the book back and forth. But for newbies who really like the show and have only seen the dubs, it's great, lots of nice pictures and an inside look at Usagi/Serena. But for fans who know everything about her, it's only good for collector purposes. I also think the publishers should have gone over it better to clean it up a bit and not allow the vertical lines, which get very annoying after a while. and I think the author should have waited until she saw the SuperS series at least! but it's an ok book I guess.

3-0 out of 5 stars OK...
This book, Meet Sailor Moon: Crystal, was obviously made to encourage more fans to learn about Sailor Moon. HOWEVER, if you are a REAL Sailor Moon fan, this stuff should come as a big "DUH" sign in front of you. I mean, don't we all know that Usagi is the Princess of the Moon? Why do they call it a "secret", then?
Another REALLY annoying thing is that this book is too short and incomplete. It's only 96 pages (about 1/6 of an inch), and they do not show her SuperS info or her StarS info (such as Eternal Sailor Moon).
So DIE-HARD collectors, get this book. Regular fans, it's already what you know, so why spend money on it?

5-0 out of 5 stars Every true SM fan should own the leader's book.
This is probely one of the best Sailor Moon books you can get. Every single page {93 pages in all} has full color.
It doesn't matter to me if the book is too young reading level for me, and you shouldn't care anyways cause that's not the point of this book. The point is to give you information about Sailor Moon. And don't think you're wasting your money on this, because you're not. Every penny for this is worth it.
Anywho, this book is divided into three parts:
1. Sailor Moon
2. Sailor Moon Episode Best 5

5-0 out of 5 stars If you don't like the anime series, then you'll love these!
There is a lot of great stuff about this series:
When it says "Based on the hit TV series", it means it. Last year when I was on summer vacation, I was watching a first season episode of Sailor Moon that was the first episode in this novel, I thought I was wasting my time watching it. The novel episode of it is so much better. It's more funny and great. And each novel includes 6 things:
#1 action
#2 adventure
#3 romance
#4 comedy
#5 fun
#6 These novels include the japanese episodes.

And because of that fact and the fact that these novel episodes of Sailor Moon are so much better then the anime episodes, I own all eight of them!
This is a series that was actually made for young adults. It's not like the Harry potter books, but the stories are great.
And ya know the fact that this book has a total misprint of the cover, and in a add for tokyopop books in the back of the first Sailor Moon comic they showed the first novel and the cover was the same picture that was on the back of the first comic!!
In the first novel episode:
A fake Tuxedo Mask writes love letters to all the eighth grade girls in hopes that he will find Sailor Moon.
In the second novel episode {a japanese episode}:
Serena, Amy, Raye, and Luna go to the beach and soon knows a ghost exists there!!!
In the second novel episode:
A girl working on the Sailor V movie has been possesed and has stopped being friend with her friend!! Will they become friends again? Buy this book and see.
Oh, by the way, you know the fact that this writer[ who I think is great for what she does]mentions stuff that exist in real life and some of that stuff doesn't fit Serena, I ALWAYS thought they went along with her!!!!! And that's one of the reasons why I like this series so much.

1-0 out of 5 stars If you like Sailor Moon DON'T get this book!
First, before I say anything about the book... the cover has a picture of Sailor V on it, not Sailor Moon and Chibi-usa(Rini). Now about the book. This book is about the episodes where Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask are stuck in an elevator-the episode where Neflite dies. The problem with this book is that the author tries to cram too many adjectives into the sentences. She makes Usagi a total airhead, and half the stuff she puts in the book did NOT exist in 1992, when Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon came out! The book seems really fake, especially if you read the manga.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book isn't about Rini she isn't in HERE!
I bought the book with Sailor V.on the cover and I liked it. I did find that the author puts stuff about Baskin Robins & the Backstreet Boys in there. Why do they have to do that? Also why in the world is RINI on the cover! The book is about a Sailor V. movie. NOT RINI! So why put her on the cover? I have the whole set of books but when is the new one going to come out? I was able to read the book in about two days. I LOVED the series!!! Great for Sailor Moon fans!

2-0 out of 5 stars Is it worth buying?
I think it isn't worth buying. It's nothing like the dub or the original version. And the Serena in this book just doesn't seem like the Serena or Usagi(original version) you would see on the anime show. I just couldn't really imagine her liking things like Backstreet boys or saying, "Oh my God!" a lot. She's not like the Serena(Usagi) I have always known. Plus, there are parts that just go on forever and parts that just weren't in the show. In my opinion, I just don't think these books are really that great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cel Mates
Have you ever thought you had good loyal friends that would stick with you through fire and ice? Well, if you did, think again! Have your friends ever reached their arms out to save you while you where dangling over a black blob of absolutely nothing? Well Serena got that help from her friends Amy Raye. These girls deserve a vacation! Raye is a good friend, she scheduled for a stay at a beach house! Nothing could possibly go wrong, except for the fact the beach house is a spooky old mansion, the doors man is a Frankenstein look alike, the maid is the Wicked Witch of the west's identical twin, and the super experienced, super hero's have to ask a little girl for help fighting a ghost that doesn't even belong to the Negaverse! Anyone who says they are a true and loyal fan of the Sailor Scouts would follow Sailor Moon and her friends in their exciting adventures. This book, Cel Mates by Lyanne Sentar, is one of a set of seven. But wait, there's more to come, if you can, or maybe you can't wait for Diamonds aren't Forever, the eight novel of the set. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Too Americanized
This book was NOT Sailormoon. Yes, it IS "Sailormoon" and not "Sailor Moon." This book is waaaaay too Americanized. They use English names for Usagi's (or Serena, ugh)classmates, use brand names, and talk about American bands. Not that I don't like the Backstreet Boys! The point is, Sailormoon is Japanese, that's the way it was made. I don't think they mention Tokyo once in this book. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because I thought the story itself was well written. But Molly "Brown"! They completely ruined the beauty of Sailormoon. It's Japanese! They talked nothing about Japanese food or cultures in this book. It's dull reading too. If you happen to be one who likes the "dub" and doesn't care about the original, get this book. But if you REALLY know what Sailormoon is or want to know, DON'T read this book. Watch the original anime and read the manga (if you can, with all those mistakes Mixx makes! That's what editors are for, jeez).

4-0 out of 5 stars She loved it!
My daughter read the book as soon as it came in and finished it in one day. All I can say is bring on more Sailor Moon books, so she can continue reading them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book,Actually...
As embarrassing as it is, I actually like this book. Yes, I know what goes on in the original japanese series, but I dunno. I just enjoyed this book, even though it's for little kids under 9 and I'm eleven, and that it is way over americanized. So really I can't give any advice about this book scince noone likes it but if you love the dub(and the amazing thing is I hate the dub!) then I guess you should get it. Its kinda a nice refreshing break from having to use you japanese translations book every page.
Happy Reading! :)

4-0 out of 5 stars American Sailor Moon, 2
Ok,this is better than the first book. Slightly. But enough for me to give it another star. Barely.

It still has some of the same problems the first one had- it just described what was going on in the show, barely adding more to make it a real story. It needs a tad more feeling, since the characters don't seem real. Granted, it's kinda hard to make characters that morph into superheroes seem real, but I'm sure they would do a better job in Japan.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Read
I don't care what anybody says. I love these books, and just so you know I only gave it four stars because I can read these in less than 3 hours - but thats okay! ^^;; I only work four hrs on Saturdays so they keep me entertained. True they are Americanized but they are appealing to an American audience, even though it is technally Japanese created. I have the entire series of Manga in Japanese, most in English, the entire anime in Japanese, some in French, afew German, and most in English. I love Sailormoon in all forms. I think its interesting how its adapted in different countries and how the names and voices change. So yes to make this short I do love these novels even though their not "true" as some people would say. They do follow the plot without making it seem like the same thing over and over and over. ::Shrugs:: but everybody has their opinions. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Mixx Misjudges
This would be a good book for an 8-year-old. However, if you're a dedicated, true fan, don't waste your money. I was excited to see that Mixx was putting out a novel series about my favorite anime, but I soon found that it was a sorry stab (cough, cough, DiC) at making the American population understand and relate to Sailor Moon. Usagi (Serena, for the dubbies) has never cared how many pairs of CK jeans she has or where her boyfriend buys his sunglasses. Sailor Moon is a wonderful story, Usagi is a wonderful character, and they make her out to be shallow and superficial. Still, I have to give them a couple of stars for trying to get America more interested in our favorite heroine. Too bad they did it so poorly.

4-0 out of 5 stars A few flaws, but overall, pretty good! ^_^
The Sailor Moon novel _A_Scout_Is_Born_ is based on the first part of the (DiC) anime. This book uses the DiC names (Serena, Jedite @_@, etc.), but covers the first three *original* episodes. Yeah, the one about the psychic is there!!! The way Stuart Levy describes the story is actually pretty good. There are *quite* a few spelling errors and such, and some of the (American) pop culture references are a little ridiculous, but this is really fun to read and it's cool to read about the "lost" second episode (one of the episodes DiC didn't dub). It's pretty inexpensive and the stories are cute, so if you don't mind reading the DiC names (and some spelling mistakes), this is a good buy for a Sailor Moon fan. *^_^*

4-0 out of 5 stars Really potrays the characters.
I love this book! It's great for people who love comedy, romance, and action. Serena (Usagi) is really explained to you in this book. How she's lazy and I hate to say stupid. You see how she improves herself from the beginning of the book to the ending of the book. I'm a real big fan of Sailor Moon and anime and if you are to you should try out this book! It's laugh-out-loud funny!

5-0 out of 5 stars This begins the great novel series.
I personally think this better than the anime. However, I can't say that about the uncut version because I've never seen it before. But I guess thta's the point of Amazon. com: sharing your opinions with other people.
First episode:
Luna gives Serena her "sm" brooch and she defeats Jedite's first monster who steals energy through jewelry.
Second episode{japanese}:
Melvin goes to a fortune teller who is really a monster in disguise and makes him and alot of other people evil.
Third episode:
People who get their letters read on a radio station... fall asleep.

5-0 out of 5 stars I actually love this book
I love this book. Sailor Moon (Serena) seems so like the average girl. She's so funny!! I love the battle scenes. I am a new sailor moon fan but I can say I would love to read the second one. Yet from what the other reviewers say I'm going to try to get the orignal japenese volumes. The orignal volumes sound fully detailed, more iteresting, more realistic/and just more fun. Sailor moon is an allsome series. When I first got into the series(I got into the series yesterday!) I actually didn't exspect the fun, lesiure, and iterest I got out of the book. I deffently going to have tons of sailor moon products on my Christmas list! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Different than the anime
First of all, they put in americanized expressions such as "you got it chick". And wasn't Tuxedo Kamen supposed to come at the end of the Sailor Mars episode? WAIT A MINUTE! TUXEDO KAMEN DIDN'T COME IN ANY OF THE THREE EPISODES IN THIS BOOK (when he was really supposed to)! Usagi was supposed to use her Luna Pen to get on the cruise ship to become a camera woman! Plus, they changed the endings a lot. They also put in too many americanized names. Scouts? Champion of justice? SERENA????? But worst of all... Negaverse. EWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!

Anyway, since I am a huge Sailor Moon (ehem, JAPANESE NOT DUB!) fan. Cuz, the DIC messed Sailor Moon up BIG TIME! So don't watch the dub or read the americanized books. Instead, watch the sub and read the manga. In other words, WATCH AND READ SAILOR MOON THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE SEEN!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The red planet girl arrives.
The last episode in this book{I saw it} and oh my god, was it terrible. I think the fact that the author makes the scouts more like us is cool. And she also puts in the funny parts, and doesn't make it boring like in the anime. I own both all the manga and all of the novels, and I like both.
In this, the enemy keeps invading by crusies, love charms, and fun parks. I guess Serena isn't happy about that. But fortunately, we meet the bossy Raye Hino who turns out to be Sailor Mars.
A great book worth reading.

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T WASTE YOUR $!
Way too americanized! Did anyone notice those Nine inch nails, X-files, and Buffy posters that according to the book are hanging in Raye's room at the temple? Did you know that Serena shops at Gap and Old Navy? Or that according to this book Darien gives Serena a ticket to get on the cruse ship that Raye and Amy go on, instead of using her Luna Pen like in the Anime? How about that Darien wears Nautica cologne? These are just of the many stupid additions to the book. This book ( ) soooo bad! If you are a true SM fan,. don't waste your $ - buy the manga, watch the anime, they are a whole lot better!

1-0 out of 5 stars Aviod like the Plague.
this sux. don't buy it. Sailor Moon is great, but this isn't Sailor Moon. If you want a good Sailor Moon book, check out the manga books. They're more money, but they're worth every penny.

3-0 out of 5 stars the end of Jedite
Oh my! Jedite has failed Queen Beryl too much and she's mad! And he's gonna be replaced by... Neflyte! Anyway, this is the only book I'll probably ever read from the adaptations of the popular animated series "Sailor Moon", so I might as well say why. For one thing, a lot of the stuff was added or taken from the episodes that it's sickening. Why?? It makes no sense. Though some of the dialogue was kept (), I was disappointed that it wasn't completely faithful to the already badly translated series. I'm not condemning the "Sailor Moon" dub or this book; it's just that the originals (animé and manga) are better. But since most of us haven't heard of the original (or know of such a thing), it's better to stick with the television series.
Besides the stuff concerning the fact that this is SM material, it is a great read. You don't have to be a fan of SM to bear it, but the occasional "In the name of the Moon, I'll punish you" opening quotes can get annoying. Unless you cannot stand these ditzy, "girlish" girls (borrowed from my "I-don't-like-Sailor Moon-because-it's-too-girlish" friend), give this short read a chance. Great for maybe an eight-year-old girl (or guy who happens to like the series), or to complete an SM English dub collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sailor Moon Eternal Sleep
In Eternal Sleep the Scouts go face to face with Jedite. Who will win? Will it be Sailor Moon or will it be Jedite? Some mysterious and cute guy named Maxfield Stanton shows up and the tennis player Katie and the owner of the park Mr. Baxter both get attacked by a monster. How could the Negaverse regroup so fast? The Scouts thought that Jedite was gone. Was he still out there? Find out what happens. Join Serena in her fifth novel, Eternal Sleep, based on the international blockbuster hit TV show, for more Action Adventure Romance Comedy and Fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Eternal Sleep
This book is a great book.I gave it five stars because it is very well written, it makes get excited on whats going to happen next.So you want to finish reading it.I finished this book in two days.It is the very first book that I have of this series.I just heard about it when I got the Sailor Moon S movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kudos to Lianne Sentar
I have read many of Lianne Sentar's renowned fanfics and I haveto say that I looked forward to reading some of her published works. It is very rare that someone can "get a start" and other libraries, but she did. While the concepts of the book were kind of messed up, using some Japanese aspects and some English aspects. The overall content was pretty good. Congrats on your new job, Ms. Sentar and keep up the good work.

1-0 out of 5 stars Snore Fest '00
I find these smile books to be extremely boring. What upsets me the most is the Amercanization of the story. Why play around with an already excellent story? References to calvin kline and other things is like making a joke of Sailor Moon. I wish they would stick with the original script for the episodes and not invent new people and situations that don't affect the story. Alot of the emotion is dumbed down in these stories. Some attacks are the original Japanese ones while others are the DIC version. Why is it so hard to get it right? I wonder what they will do when they reach the later episodes and try to invent new people's names and places and clothing brands. I would definitely stick with the English Manga version of Sailor Moon than the poorly adapted Smile version. I only gave one star because otherwise this review form woudln't work. ... Read more
