3-0 out of 5 stars mystery monsters
I think that it is a good book because it is funny and because it is short and fun. You can laugh while you read it. The stories all have Monsters in them. I love Monsters. I like the book because it is a mystery.

5-0 out of 5 stars What's going on?
Liza is taking figure skating lessons. But there is hockey going on. Melody, Eddie, and Howie are signing up. But the coach is strange. Is he Frankenstein? What's up with those potions? Does he slam hockey pucks? Will he turn everyone to minature Frankensteins? Find out in this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Source for any science teacher
I am a high school biology teacher. Since reading this book I have purchased 5 of the Magic School Bus Chapter Books. This book provides excellent scientific information and students of all ages enjoy. I had my 6 year old nephew read it, I read it, and one of my freshmen biology students read it. We all came to the same conclusion; we want to take a trip the aquarium and see the sharks firsthand for ourselves. I highly reccommend anyone with a child or a love for science to read this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Educational and exciting!
My 5 year daughter and I recently finished reading this book. This series is a wonderful way for kids to learn about science. After reading this book, she asked to go to a local aquarium to see some sharks for herself. We can't wait to read the other books in the series. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Book Than Others
When Liza, Melody, Howie and Eddie meet Mrs. Rosenbloom, Eddie thinks Mrs. rosenbloom is a cupid because she made those heart hamburgers. She also made people in-love like Principal Davis and Mrs. Jeepers. I can't believe Carey has a crush on Eddie. Then, One day Eddie decides to make a cure, A cure that people will not be in-love. One day he brought it to school and mixed it in Mrs. Rosenbloom's recipe. After those people tasted it, They Complained about the food because it was not delicious. One day Mrs. Rosenbloom was gone because she is done working there

This was a great story. The main characters are Howie, Eddie, Liza, Melody and Mrs. Rosenbloom. The book is mostly about a new cafeteria lady who makes food that is heart shaped.Almost everybody eats a cookie she made. She gave them a heart button too.Eddie and Howie are the only ones who didn't eat a cookie. They find out that the button is an arrow that makes people fall in love with each other.Even the teachers are falling in love. The boys made a batch of cookie dough that tasted sour. She catches Eddie bringing the cookie dough to the mixing bowl. She gives him a cookie and makes him eat it.He falls in love too.She makes the cookie dough that Eddie and Howie snuck into the bowl.Everyone eats it and everything turns back to normal.Once again the Bailey School Kids saved the day!!!

Book Description

Alice comes home on the first day of junior high with a list of seven things about seventh grade that stink. The one good thing she can think of (besides getting out at 2:30 instead of 3:00) is that she's friends with everybody -- and that gives her the idea of setting a goal to make it through the entire school year with everyone liking her.

That turns out to be easier said than done, when Alice gets on the wrong side of the school bully, Denise "Mack-Truck" Whitlock. But Alice's problems with Denise pale before the romantic entanglements of her father and her older brother, Lester. And when Alice decides to help them out, life gets even more complicated. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Reluctantly Alice
Alice comes home on the first day of junior high with a list of seven things about seventh grade that she dislikes. The one good thing is that she is friends with everybody. She wants to make it throgh the entire year with everybodyliking her. Her older brother, Lester, has trouble choosing between his two girlfriends. Her father is also caught in between two women, because Alice's mother died. Alice only has one enemy, Denise Whitlock. But by Christmas, even Alice was friends with the school bully. Life gets tough as she tries to help out her brother and father.

I liked this book very much. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. There was a transition after each chapter that makes you want to keep on reading. These are the type of stories that I enjoy to read where the author focuses on the life of one character in the story but also includes others. It talks about a small family living together without a mother. How we all face good and bad parts of life.

My favorite part of the book was when ALice becomes friends with Denise Whitlock. In Language Arts, they are to interview each other and write a biography. Since none of Denise's friends were in the class, Alice chise her. As they got into the interview, they knew more about each other. Denise began to like Alice and Alice began to like Denise. After all the bad things Denise did to Alice, I don't know why Alice would choose to like her. I would suggest for you to read this book and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just exactly explains A Junior High Life....
Alice McKinley is now a seventh-grader. Once she has stepped through the halls of junior high, surprises await for her. In Language Arts, she meets Denise Whitlock, who firsts start out by calling her "Widdle Alwice."

Then there's SGSD-Seventh Grade Sing Day. Sort of like Scrub Day from Even Stevens. LOL. So she has to carry a tune, but truthfully she cannot. Like every one of us girls, Alice goes through bad things--bullying, picking on, being brutally sarcastic, etc.

So this is a good book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Alice in Seventh
Not one of my favorites, but still a good Alice book. In this installment, Alice begins seventh grade and feels back on the bottom of the ladder. Throughout the year Alice deals with a bully, SGSD, and observes her father and her brother's tumultous love lifes. She grows more and her thankful that she and Patrick are just "special friends." No worries, however as everything works out for Alice in the end. This is not a great Alice book, but it is still good and vital to keep current with the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty darn good!
Pretty yowzing, is all I can see. This is a superb continuation of the Alice saga and the characters that were starting to just peep out of the pages in the previous two stories, really start to jump out and scream in this one. I love this book. I identify with all the charcters, espechially Elizabeth and Pamela and Alice. There is a lot more talk of sex in this book, so only present this book to a child if you know they can handle words like "testicles" and "ejactulation," and "vagina," among a few others. I recomend this extriodanary book to any middle school girl who wants to laugh, giggle, blush, scream in rage, jubilation and disgust...if they can handle it.

BLESSED BE!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Beware of SGSD...
This is the third book of the Alice McKinley series, and it is here that one can see the characters begin to really take shape. Alice, Pamela, and Elizabeth, as fun and orginal a trio (!!) as ever, have taken the big step into the world of junior high, but after only the first day Alice can think of 7 things wrong with 7th grade.

Alice, though, tries to look ahead to brighter times (even if she did manage to perform three embarassing acts on the very first day of school, including sitting on a doughnut -- egads!), and sets the very high goal of going through seventh grade being friends with everyone. Easier said then done, especially when Alice attracts the attention of an 8th grade bully. Things aren't made any worse when Alice, who has never been able to carry a tune, has to be rescued by her older brother on SGSD.

On top of her own problems, Alice also decides to tackle the romantic ones of her father and older brother. Ouch. This, too, turns out to be a lot harder than the 7th grade Alice could believe, but you could be surprised once the Messiah sing-along rolls around...

Yet another good addition to the ever-growing Alice McKinely series. Don't miss out... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Karen gets a big surprise!
This book was so funny! Karen played a lot of really funny jokes on people. I liked the joke she tried to play on her family, but then the joke didn't work.I laughed a lot.

1-0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK WAS AWFUL!!
I really thought this book was awful. It was boring. Plus Anne Martin never abbriviated words, It was awlways, "I do not want to" instead of "I don't want to" or something like that. It got so boring i couldnt even finish it. For those of you who want to read a GOOD book you should read Animorphs. The auther of them knows how to write a good story and knows how to abbriviate. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A Review by Andrew (Class 5-506)
Do you like made-up stuff? If you do, you should read this book. This book is part of the Bailey School Kids series. It starts when one kid named Eddie was playing Halloween pranks. Then he sees a weird man. Howie, Liza, and Melody, Eddie's friends, did not believe him because they know it's a trap. Is there really a weird man? If there is, why is he there?

I enjoyed reading this book because it has a lot of mysteries and entertaining happenings. I think if anyone is one of the four kids, I would say they would be afraid, but not the Bailey School Kids. My favorite character is Eddie because he is a funny boy and without him, there would be no laughter in this book. The genre of this book is a mystery and it may be a little fantasy too. My favorite part was when the kids went to every store and found not one piece of candy because it was very amusing and unusual.

If you want to find out what happened, you should read this book. This book is sort of easy to read because the words aren't too complicated. The pictures show information you can not think of and the pictures slow you down so you know what's happening. I didn't like the beginning because it didn't pull me in but I think you would start to understand it more at the middle. There are only a few big vocabulary words so I would recommend this book for beginning chapter readers. I would relate this book to other Bailey School Kids book because they always have a strange creature. This book is also good for people who like mystery and adventure, so if you like mystery and adventure, go out and buy this book! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Much to "adult"
I used to love the SVH series, it was semi realistic. Not SVU, because everyone wants to sleep with each other, have affairs, and poor old Jess, she's basically the best charecter in the book, and every time she gets a guy it ends up in divorce or death. As for the girl who said "WE'RE PRETEENS! NOT KIDS!" Well, I'm sorry, but I am twelve- and I strongly feel these books have much to much adult content, and basically, I doubt any ten year old would understand concepts of these books, seems they probably dont even understand what is going on with all the you-know-what and bitter divorces. Personally I think these are for a much older age group then the young teens or preteens, I mean lets take a rundown of events that have happened lately-
1. Elizabeth kissed a guy who had a girlfriend at the end.
2. Elizabeth and Tom had a fight because Elizabeth didnt think she was ready for the "next stage of the relationship" and he went to a bar without absolute PIGS. And Liz fell in love with this guy?
3. Jessica's boyfriend was SHOT
4. Isabella (?) lost her memory after smoking with a guy when she had a boyfriend!
OK those are the first ones I think of... honestly Francine and Laurie (?) these books are stuck in a rut. They need some reality! Sorry but I was quite upset that my fave charecters were turning into a bunch of teens that would take any guy that got thrown at them!

2-0 out of 5 stars Sleepy
This book was sooo boring. There's is no metion of any of the old characters.I can't believe Bryan would leave Nina, that's to unrealistic.Jessica is all intent on being good, but that's not her personality.Liz and Sam arguing all the time is annoying.I don't really like Chloe she seems really spoilt,it was really stupid when she made up that Tom Watts was her boyfriend.I can't believe Tom is giving up everything he worked for to be back on the football team.I think Francine Pascal/Laurie John should write a third Lifeguard mini-series.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's okay...
Sweet Valley University has gone for a facelift but the content inside is sadly lacking its former characters and it seems to have not tied up some loose ends.
Firstly did Danny get to see Isabella in Switzerland? Is Isabella recovering?
Also how did Jessica manage to forget all about Nick?I read Stranded(no 49)and there is absolutely no mention of him.Has she forgotten about him already?
I'm also sad to say Denise's and Lila's boyfriends are never mentioned anymore. It looks like they're gone from the series.
But as when other characters leave you get some new ones. There is now Sam,a slacker, who moves into the house along with Neil who is also gay.
To cover the younger crowd we have Chloe(who acts snobby in quite a few of the books)and her friend Val who is sweet and sincere.
The book is about how Jessica and Elizabeth(now 19) get their own house and two housemates(Sam and Neil).
Tom changes from reporting to football and Dana and Todd move in together(this doesn't last long).
Although the design is tops the book doesn't offer the same cliffhanger endings and excitement. At least they actually write about school now instead of what they do outside of school.
I rate it three stars because the story was average and all the good characters have gone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Going downhill.......
Talk about a complete and utter letdown to the start of the Junior year. What happened to the old favourites: Izzy, Danny, Denise and the others?

It's getting a bit unbelievable that so many couples would break up and disappear. I mean, Nina and Bryan were like glue and now Bryan's supposedly turned into this creep who dumps Nina for another girl. Also, I can't believe that someone supposedly 'dependable' and 'caring' as Liz is would just get over Tom so quickly. It doesn't add up with the character that the writers have created.

The new books seem to lack the excitement and suspense as well as humour (Winston being 'Winnie') in the books written about their freshman year. I think this lacks the many plotlines created in College Girls #1.

Living Together also tended to focus far too much on the twins rather than other characters. Also, the arrival of Chloe bored me, I'd much rather read about Izzy, Denise and even Alison Quinn!

The bickering between Sam and Liz was irritating and predictable and Chloe's lying about her relationship with Tom was an old cliche.

Predictable and cliched, although some parts were slightly amusing.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best series in the world
is sweet valley university. i have never been so sucked into a series-ever. i hate kids books. everyone expects people my age to read dumb stuff about pigs and bunnies and stuff. im a lot more mature than i look! im 10 years old (11 in two days) and i love these books. and i completely understand these books. i guess im writing this to say that girls my age are a lot more mature than we look. 4-0 out of 5 stars Viking Invasion in Bailey City?
On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best I rate this book 4 stars because I didn't find this book to be very funny. I thought this book was going to be like Louis Sachar's Wayside School books because it is about kids in a school. It was a little exciting when the wrestlers went to the professional wrestling ring at Bailey City High School while the parents were protesting outside. When the Vikings, Howie, Eddie, Liza and Melody go to Burger Doodle for their favorite Doodlegum shakes the Vikings stuff their mouths with French fries, milk shakes and Doodle Burgers, which I thought was a little strange. When I was reading this book I kept asking myself, "Is there going to be a Viking Invasion?" Read the book to find out. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Friendship ring... perfect!
If you have read any of the friendship ring books you know this is an excellent book.
Fill in the Blank is Tommy Levit's side of the story. The friendship ring books fallow the first several weeks of 7th grade; of Zoe Grandon, CJ Hurley, Morgan, Olivia, and now Tommy. These book's reflect the true meanings of friendship, love, truth, and understanding. Honestly, I felt these books were the real thing, they expressed all the emotions that happen to girls and boys during the seventh grade!

Yet, this is the first book from Tommy's point of view, he shares a true enlighting side. Without this book, the series would be at a loss. If you want to read a book that will stay with you for the rest of you life, read Fill in the Blank! All read the rest of the friendship ring! This was an all time favorite book of my whole classroom.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nature Guide recommended
I'm a nature guide in a nature sanctuary and I loved this book. I frequently lead very young children on woods walks and talk to them about nature, and when I mention the Magic Schoolbus and tell them about this book, it always gets their attention. Most children (and adults) just don't think about rot and the "decomposers" and what they do for the forest. Talking about this book helps get them digging for bugs in rotten logs! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars I was extremely disappointed by the content of the book.
I was so surprised.... and disappointed by the problems that the characters encountered. How could Francine Pascal just have Nick Fox get killed like that? And make Elizabeth react that way to Tom....especially since they were broken up when he slept with Dana Upshaw. I hope that future books are better than this. Nick Fox was the only one for Jessica and now it's all ruined. I'm sure that Francine Pascal could have come up with a better ending than this one..... she could have done a lot with future books.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best SVU book yet!!!
''love me always" is the best Sweet Valley University book I've ever read !! Elizabeth shouldn't of slapped Tom, but he shouldn't of cheated on her. I feel bad for Jessica, She;s had a lot of men in her life, and Nick was the best thing that's ever happened to her. And when she found out he was dead, she was heart broken, poor thing!!!! I can't wait ti read the next book!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Tragic and tearjearking!
This book shows you how much Jessica and Nick love each other. How true love is everlasting...Poor Jess- you totally feel for her. All her true loves end up in disasters, first Sam, James, Christian, Louis, Mike, now Nick Fox? Sounds like they need a new plot for Jessica's life story if you ask me. Other then the obvious, it was a wonderful book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book ever
Love me always was a great book. I loved how it sowed how much Nick Cares for Jessica. I thought they were always the greatest couple. The writer if this book{of whi I am a major fan} took her time in this book to show us that there is a will and a way. I also thought this book sad at the end though if you read this book you've got to read the next 3 after it. But although this book may be sad and make you cry, it is also guranteed to make you think. This book is the best ever. After you read this you'll never forget it and you'll never foprget Nick. I definitely reccomend this book to anyone who likes romance and a love story. Happy reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's not easy not eating.
This book is a good book about a girl with an eating disorder. This book has a good lesson about eating disorders. Someone who thinks they're big would probably like this book because they can relate to what's going on.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book has everything--it's amazing
This is the second book I've read in the series and it's even better than the first. I loved the story about Daly's family facing hard times and how that affected Daly and her eating problem. And then there's the story about Sophy and how she and Carlos might have a thing, or she thinks they do but he doesn't. And of course the dancing's all great--it's like this whole world that you really feel exists. I love these characters!

5-0 out of 5 stars Behind the glamor, some hard truths about dance
I love ballet and I always dream of being a ballet dancer though I know I am probably not good enough. I take ballet lessons and envy the girls who are very thin. Until I read this book I never really thought about how unhealthy being too thin can be. I think if Daly's father hadn't lost his job she'd still try to get too thin because she thinks and her teacher thinks she is fat when she isn't. I have a serious crush on Ray. Carlos is cool but Ray is more fun. Everyone should read this book. The kids and the story go on just like a real t.v. soap opera. I am never sure exactly what will happen. And you have to buy the next book to figure it all out. Even if you don't love ballet you will love the story. I already have book three, In the Spotlight and I really love that too. I don't want to give the end of two away so I can't say more. I only wish there were more about Laverne and about the ballroom school too. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars REALLY GREAT FOR PEEPS WHO THINK THERE LIFE IS HARD!!!!!!
I read this book and it is soooooo goood. Larissa thinks everything is perfect untill the tryouts!!! Read it and find out what happenes!!

4-0 out of 5 stars not the best
This wasn't the best SVJH book I've read, but it was a fun read. "Wild Child" is about how blossoming actress Larissa Harris auditions for the school musical, "West Side Story", but is not accepted because she doesn't have a C average or higher, which is required to be eligible to be part of the play. She is crushed for a few days and pretty much ignores her drama club friends, Toby and Anna---and when she does talk to them, is not as open and friendly as she had been before. Larissa finally agrees to let Anna tutor her when she finds out that the girl who won the lead role Larissa wanted so badly, Bianca, also had slipping grades and was being tutored. I thought Larissa was being a stuck-up brat because she was so stubborn to accept that she needed help in her schoolwork. Read this if you like, but it isn't on my highly-recommended list.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wild Child is truly "Wild!"
I wasn't that interested in Larissa until this book. I've never really liked school much, either. So I can relate. I usually don't like it when a new character is introduced, but the way Larissa and Toby were introduced I totally wanted to know all about them and their thoughts. Larissa's trying out for West Side Story with Anna and Toby. Then her grades drop and she's not allowed to be in the play! The little side story is about Salvador and how he wants to hang out with more guys, since most of his friends are girls. I hope I've encouraged you to read this book, it's one of the best!

4-0 out of 5 stars Wild Child
I just finished reading this book today. It was a good book, but not one of my favorites. It focuses mainly on the kids in Drama Club and doesn't really involve either of the twins or Lacey, Kristin, and their crowd. In this book, Larissa grades are slipping causing her to uneligible for a part in the play. Toby and Anna come up with an idea on how she can bring her grades up and still have enough time to still get a part in the musical. Find out if it works in the newest SVJH book..........Wild Child

4-0 out of 5 stars A good book
When they first introduced Larisa, I thought, "Who cares?" but this book focused on her, and now she's one of my favorite characters. If you would like to discuss these books, e-mail me at the above address. ... Read more
