4-0 out of 5 stars More Science!
My son is 4 years old and we read to him a lot. Now, before bed, he announces, "Mom, you know what kind of book to read....ONLY SCIENCE!" He loves science, and the Magic School Bus is a great, fun way to introduce it, even to a preschooler!

4-0 out of 5 stars Beekeeper's Review
Kids (of all ages) ask the darndest things. When we work fairs or are identified as beekeepers in public, we are bomberded with basic questions regarding honeybees. This book was bought for my mother as much as for my brother's son. He asks her questions difficult to answer without pictures, "How do bees make wax...?" This book goes into enough detail to answer all the "How do...?'s" likely to come up regarding honeybees. A fine book for any child interested in insects. Also a good selection to temper the fears of those children that may fear bees. The pages are a little busy, otherwise would have gotten 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Once again, Magic School Bus hits the mark!
The full details in this book are simple enough to keep children's interests (mine are ages 4 and 8) but still provide more data than even I knew. The subject matter is of particular interest to kids, not only because bees are encountered nearly every day, but this book helps this overcome the fear that some children have of bees by showing them as peaceful, otherwise occupied and busy creatures. Don't miss this, or any other Magic School Bus book if you have kids! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book
This book is truly one of my favorite's in the Alice series. The author promised to go through with Alice through all her years in highschool and a book that highlights Alice through age 18-60. Here is starts off as Alice's first year in highschool kicks off. At first everything is perfect, her boyfriend Patrick, schools going smoothly, and she's even having a coed sleepover at her house! But things start going downhill from there. A new girl, Penny, begins crushing on her boyfriend, and doesn't hide it. Suddenly Alice feels her world crumbling apart, she feels insecure and that no one can help her. And as Alice struggles, she has to handle some news about her dad's fiancee. Alice learns what trusts all about, and having confidence in yourself and in others is the most important thing of all.

I recomend this book to anyone in middle to anyone in high. The Alice series is truly tremendous and knows what she's doing. She's woven up all the characters and put them in a story of love, and self discovery. Truly a great read...

5-0 out of 5 stars Alice Alone- This book is very descriptive-MKB
Alice Alone is a great book. It is about a girl named Alice who is in high school. Alice has a older brother named Lester who is in his 20's and she has a dad. Alice's mom died when Alice was in kindergarten. Alice's dad is in love with Alice's middle school english teacher named Ms. Summers. Ms. Summers is in England deciding between Alice's dad and Mr. Sorringer(the assistant principal.) Alice has two best friends named Pamela and Elizabeth. Pamela is the wild one and Elizabeth is the christian one, but Elizabeth has a very big secret that she has never told anyone. And of course Alice has a boyfriend named Patrick. Alice and Patrick have been dating since middle school, but there is a new girl in town named Penny and Patrick seems to be attracted to Penny.
I think girls would like this book because it has problems that girls go thruogh . I dont think boys would be interested in this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Alice is at her best in her worst situation yet
This is the best book in the Alice series yet - though I don't advise you to read it first, being it's imperative you go in order so you are further able to understand how Alice McKinely grows and changes as a person.

Throughout Alice's teen dramas and various turmoils, she's had two fiercely loyal best friends, Pamela and Elizabeth, who have stuck by her side through thick and thin. She's also, for quite sometime, had a boyfriend.

Now, she will need Pamela and Elizabeth more than ever.

A new girl, Penny, has moved to town. She's petite, flirty, and cute - all the things Alice is not. All the boys swoon over her, yet she is not interested in all of the boys - she is, however, interested in Patrick. And, despite his relationship with Alice, Penny isn't afraid to hide it. Their flirting starts with her "accidentally" falling into his lap on a morning bus ride. Alice is a tad peeved, but Patrick is able to convince her that she's his girl in that calm, collected way that is oh-so reassuring.

But when Alice is strapped with school and unable to make time for Patrick, Penny always can. And she does. First it's Patrick making her scream at the movies, then it's Penny hugging him at his music recital. Alice is growing more and more suspicious, yet with good reason. Confrontations are inevitable and when Alice finally musters up her courage, Patrick is not all that understanding about her fears and worries.

It's the end of their two-year relationship.

Alice has officially had her heart broken for the first time. And how does it feel? She's fumbling with her confidence, feeling less than pretty, wishing she could fill the empty void her first boyfriend has left behind. However, with the help and support of friends like Pamela, Elizabeth, Jill, and Karen, she is able to begin to hold her head back up high. Sometimes, good friends are just was one needs to make it through a rough patch, a hardship, a hurdle. Sometimes, good friends are what you need to heal the hurt love can - and does - bring.

Naylor's Alice addition finds a comfortable balance in humor and realism, as do all of her Alice novels. Narrated by none other than Alice herself, you'll easily be able to see things through her eyes and share her pain, as well. You too will be aware of why there's such a "big fuss" over love, even if you have yet to have your heart broken.

4-0 out of 5 stars Alice Alone
It's a brand new start, the nith grade. While alice learns that everything isn't so easy, she gets jellous of a new girl every boy likes, including her boyfriend Patrick. While Alice is excited to be working on the Hight School News Paper Penny gets even closer to Patrick.Pamela breaks down and shares a awful secret she has had in side of her sence she was seven.Alice struggles to keep her jealcusy of Penny at bay, while she watches her father handle some unsettling news about his recent fianc'e. Alice learns what trust is all about, and to have confidence in others.

Well i like when alicie do her birthday in her home and she invite all her friends and her best friend elizabeth and her boyfriend and i dont like when the story done because then she broke whit her boyfriend and that stuff when she find a picture of her boyfriend a penny huging each other she was so upset and parker her boyfriend he dont tell nothing about the picture then she ask her best friend elizabeth anyway the history was so nice.

Bestselling author Malachy McCourt recounts the story of Ireland's timeless symbol of loyalty, friendship, and love, a ring design of two clasped hands that is worn by millions worldwide. Following the success of his Running Press titles Danny Boy and Voices of Ireland, McCourt explores this beloved icon of Irish heritage through vivid anecdotes, charming folk tales, and recent documented incidents. Said to have been first crafted more than 400 years ago in a fishing village on Galway Bay, there is much more to the story of the Claddagh ring than simple popular history, and McCourt tracks it down and recounts it with his stellar storytelling finesse. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Cherished Symbol of Friendship
The hands are there for friendship,
The heart is there for love.
For loyalty throughout the year,
The crown is raised above

It is extremely rare to find a friend who wants to be friends forever, but when you find them, this is the ring to buy. A Claddagh (klada) ring can be given to friends and is the world's cherished symbol of friendship, love and loyalty.

The happiest day in my life is definitely the day I received a Claddagh Ring. Not only are these rings eternal symbols of friendship, it is a poetic and beautiful representation of love that is steeped in mysterious legends and lore.

The ring is named after a fishing village and Malachy McCourt does a fine job of explaining all the stories surrounding this mysterious ring. This book is filled with stories of Vikings, Algerian Pirates, Legendary Fishermen, Superstitions, Traditions and stories of Mary of the Bridges.

This book is really as much a history of Claddagh as it is about the ring named after the village. It also sheds light on the inventor and how he created the ring while in captivity. Malachy McCourt weaves a fascinating tapestry of stories with humor and a deep interest the history and culture of Ireland.

What amazed me most was the story of 9/11 and how so many Claddagh rings were found on that day. Not only does this ring make its appearance in romantic tales, it has more recently made its appearance in great tragedy. Perhaps it is also now the symbol of the joining of hands to heal hearts.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent book for young girls
Have you ever felt singled out in your family and nobody understands? Well if you do you should read this book. It is a book about a girl around your age, who always thinks she is totally different from the rest of her family. Her name is Abby Hayes. Abby has a dream to be a great soccer player. She also wishes she weren't so different. Abby goes through some struggles in her way to becoming a soccer star. Will she succeed at her dream? Read the book to find out. I think that Anne Mazer did an excellent job on this book. I didn't really like the ending, but all in all this was a 5 star book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining
This book was about a girl named Abby Hayes. She doesn't feel as good as her two perfect sisters and her genius brother. She feels left out and wishes she could change. Her many struggles make her a stonger person each day. She collects calanders and loves to write. She also wants to be a professional soccer player, but everyone is telling her different ways to play while she wants to learn on her own. It is very hard for her and she wants everyone to leave her alone. In her diary you can find out how everything goes in her new fifth grade year as she comes upon new challenges.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BOOK THAT STARTED IT ALL!
I have read 10 books about Abby Hayes and they have all had problems, like a dull room or a dull newspaper job. But this book was the book that started it all. In the first book, we meet Abby, a fifth grader who has a superstar family. Abby has SuperSibs who can do anything from playing sports to debating to programming computers. Abby just wants to fit in! That's all she wants (except for her wish of pierced ears)! So Abby's friend, Jessica, a sporty girl who loves space and soccer, helps Abby train for the soccer team. Abby finally acheives her goal, until someting very embarrassing happens in one of the game. But it turns out all right when she sees what is in the newspaper the next day. This is a great book, so you should read this one and all of the other one to see how Abby grows up and experiences something that everyone can relate to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Go Abby! Go Abby!
This book is about 10 year old Abby Hayes and her family. The first of the series, this book leaves you wanting more. I reccomend this book to all girls, probably ages 7 and up. It was great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome!
I loved this book! It was so realistic, and I have nothing bad to say about it. It is about this girl named Mary Anne who gets in a fight with the BSC and has trouble making up with them. Then she meets a new friend Dawn. Then a girl Jenny she was baby sitting for gets so sick that something drastic had to happen envolving Mary Anne and Dawn. If you want to know more, (which is what I'm trying to make you) read this book! I would reccomend this to all girls!

5-0 out of 5 stars A good book
I read this over ten yrs ago and recently re-read it and still enjoy it. Although it is hard to get into initially and the beginning sort of dragged on (my friend Amber loaned it to me when we were in 5th grade and I don't think I got past chapter 1. I had never read BSC books until then so I didn't find the intro. boring, however. I think that the BSC is too judgemental towards each other. They think Mary Anne is immature but she was the one who wanted reconciliation after their dumb fight, and Kristy was the most difficult. Talk about immature! Also it was unprofessional the way they refuse to at least meet for the club and not function. Mary anne was the mature one in that respect.

5-0 out of 5 stars Way to Go Mary Anne!
She proves she's the strongest babysitter in the club in this book and many others. Although she's shy, she has a good head on her shoulders and has a lot of strength. This is a wonderful book that teaches about responsibility, but it's also fun to read. And the arguments that the babysitters have with each other are so funny and lame!

5-0 out of 5 stars The first Babysittes Club book I read
I'm 28 years old, and I recently moved. While cleaning out my house to pack for the move, I ran across a box of Babysitters Club books that I read when I was younger. I had forgotten about those since I hadn't read them in many years. I was 13 when my dad bought Mary Anne Saves the Day for me at the local grocery store. He said I could get a book and that one caught my eye. I read it when I got home, and I was hooked. Since then, I bought books 1-3, and then each book after that every month when it came out. I was 18 when I stopped reading them. I felt I had outgrown them. When I recently found those books, I reread them all, starting with Mary Anne Saves the Day. It brought back a lot of memories, and I am now collecting them all again for my own daughter, if I ever have one.

Mary Anne Saves the Day is about a shy 12 year old girl who lives with her single father, who is very strict when it comes to raising her. She belongs to a great group of friends who run a business called The Babysitters Club. During one of her jobs, a little girl grows ill while in her care, and Mary Anne must use quick thinking to get the child to the hospital.

These are wonderful books for children. It's a shame Ann M. Martin is no longer writing them, but they will be always cherished

1-0 out of 5 stars What A Boring Book
The book I read is called Were Wolves Don't Go To Summer Camp by Debbie Dadley and Marcia Thorton Jones. Were wolves don't go to summer camp is the worst book I have ever read in my life. It is so boring. All the book really says is -there is Mr.Jenkins wearing his same lone wolf T-shirt, his same ripped up pants, and his two medal dog tags. It just keeps repeating that over and over. It probably says it at least 25 times. If you pick up this book you are making a huge mistake. All this book does is waist your time and bore you. As a matter of fact I couldn't think of a worse book than this. On a rating from 1-10 I would give this book a 0, and I highly recommend that you choose a different book than this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars WereWolves Don't Go To Summer Camp
I give this book five stars because it's the book that I actually wanted to keep reading. It was very interesting and it seemed to pull you into it.If you read it you would just want to read the next part. It's one of the best books I've read. Now I am reading the whole series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Werewolves Don't Go to Summer Camp
The book that I have read is Werewolves Don't Go to Summer Camp . I have chosen this book because it is very mysterious and funny . The book is about four children, who are going to a different summer camp. I won't give the whole story away, but the only thing I can say is that I recommend it to kids in the 7th grade and higher.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm glad werewolves go to my school!
Werewolves Don't Go To Sumer Camp is a great book that takes us on an adventure to summer camp. Howie, Eddie, Melody, and Lize run into some wolf problems as they arrive at camp Lone Wolf. On the first day of camp they met Mr. Jenkin, the camp director. The kids think he is a werewolf because he's hairy and he likes raw hamburgers. They make it through the long week and find out the scary truth.
I recommend this book because I like funny and scary books. I like picturing scary things.

4-0 out of 5 stars Werewolves don't go to summer camp
I relly liked this book becaouse it is a relly funny book. Another reason that I like this book is that it leaves you on the edge of your seat woundering what is going to happen next in the story . The last thing I like about it is that it has a relly good suprise ending. The best part of the book was a cuple chapters from the end of the book. I dident like the ending of the book becaouse it just left you hanging ther it never told you if he was relly a wasrwolf or if he was just joking around with thim to scare thim. so the author just left the endinmg for your emagination. The most vived story element of the book was the characters in the story they have very funny and entertaning characters in the book ... The characters make the hole book more intresting to begin with. ... Read more

Ghosts Don't Eat Potato Chips is a very good book! It is about a mean old lady who lives in an old run down house in the present. Her nephew's name is Eddie, and Howie his best friend. His grandfather died in his attic. When Eddie was walking to his grandmother's house, he was walking past Howie's house. Howie came out and said, "Can I come?" "Yes Howie," I said. When they got there, the house looked so creepy they did not want to go in. Will they ever stop being so selfish? Howie spilt his chips on accident. When he went to pick them up, they spelled A-T-T-I-C and when he looked in the attic window, there was a man. He turned around to tell Eddie. They looked and he was gone. This is a very good book, and I would recommend that you read it.It is mysterious.

4-0 out of 5 stars Do Ghosts Eat Potato Chips?
This book is about a boy named Eddie and his friends Howie, Lisa

and Melody who have to help take care of his great aunt

Malthida. They do not want to do it because they think she is

mean. She is sick and Eddie's Grandma wants him to help her out.

The first day they got to her house they bring her some food

to eat that Eddie's Grandma had made for her. On that day that

they went, Howie who likes to eat potato chips saw a ghost in

the window of Aunt Mathilda's house. Eddie told his friend that

there is no such thing as ghosts.

The next day all the kids went back to Aunt Mathilda's house

to bring her some more lunch to eat. It was cold so they had to

warm it up for her. While lunch was heating up Aunt Mathilda and

the kids played poker. She played really good. They played to

long that lunch burned. Since lunch had burned they got her some

fast food for lunch. Some potato chips came with her lunch and

while they sat at the table eating and talking the potato chips

disappeared. When they got back to her house they gave her the

lunch and she said she liked it. While the kids were there she

got sick and had to go to the hospital.

While Aunt Mathilda was in the hospital the kids went to the

house to prove that there is no such thing as ghosts. The

electricity went out because of a storm so they couldn't see

very well in the attic. They saw a big trunk that looked like a

coffin. The kids all opened it at the same time and found Uncle

Jasper's hat and what else do you think they found? You will

have to read this book to find out what they find.

I really did like this book because I like Bailey School Kids

books.

So they played a game of poker while it was cooking and they played so many games it was so long that it was burning. they had to get her new food so they got fast food. they got some potato chips with it and they opend it and thy stoped to talk and sat at a table and sat the chips down and while they where talking some of the cips were gone. When they got back they gave the food to her and said, " I like it!" So they said I am glad you do.that same day she got even sicker and they had to call the hospital to come pick her up and she got back there at the hospital good. And if you want to now what happens you will have to BUY the book.

I realy did like the book because I like the Baily School Kids books.

4-0 out of 5 stars Booo!! (crunch, crunch...)
Unusual occurrences are becoming...well, *usual* in and around Bailey School. The third grade has a vampire for a teacher. A werewolf is the local camp counselor, and even Santa Claus has put in an appearance as the elementary school's custodian. So, should it really be ALL that odd to find a potato chip-munching ghost at Aunt Matilda's house??

Eddie & the gang are back in this, the 5th installment of the Bailey School Kids series. This time Eddie's old Aunt Matilda is at home sick and Eddie's mom has sent him over to tend to her. In addition to being a very grumpy, demanding old woman, her house appears to be haunted! Weird noises come from the creaky old attic, food left lying out is mysteriously eaten though no one is around, Aunt M. herself talks to her dead husband, potato chips fall to the ground and spell out mysterious words... Just what IS going on around here?? IS there a ghost in the attic??

Unlike the other Bailey School Kids books where the supernatural creature has a main role (vampire as teacher, leprechaun as basketball coach, etc), the ghost is not one of the main characters and seems to occupy the fringe of the story. This adds a note of realism to this series and makes it much more like a traditional ghost story (that is, creepy!). While not as outright scary as other books in the intermediate horror/spooky genre, "Ghosts Don't..." is a departure from the more-amusing-than-scary books preceding this one. I still wouldn't classify it as "horror" fiction, because while it does get creepy sometimes, it's hardly horrifying.

It's an easy read and catchy series. As an adult, I can finish off a Bailey School Kids book in about 20 minutes and have found myself working my way steadily through the series (reviewing most along the way). They're fun and quick, and hence even children and students who don't usually read find themselves easily reading them cover-to-cover.

I like this book because I like to do karate. It is very intresting. And it is also funny. These kids always get the problom solved.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Young Children
I remember reading these books as a kid - they take up half of my bookshelf! The plots are entertaining enough to get kids to read and the books are short enough so that they won't get bored. If you're looking for a book for your second to fifth grader to read, especially if they're not interested in reading, this series is a good one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Angels are entertaining though...
Angels Don't Know Karate by Debbie Dadey and Maria Thornton Jones
This story takes place in the school yard with friendly Eddie, Howie, Liza and Melody.
Eddie doesn't believe in angels. Eddie is double dared to climb a tree. He tries, but Eddid fell out of the tree, and is caught by a stranger. His friends try to convincehim that she was his guardian angel. The stranger hands them tickets to a karate demo to watch the stranger. The next day Melody believed the strangers angel Miss Michael was a guardian angel. The four friends spied on Miss Michaels for proof that she is an angel. They found no proof and she left the school. Melody still believed she was an angel but Eddie didn't because angels don't do karate.
I really liked the book because it was about an angel. I think that everyone that believes in angels like I do would really like the story. If you don't believe in angels you might change your mind after you read this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars my favorite book
The book was a really good book. I'm happy there are a lot of different kinds of books by the same author. I have'nt got a chance to read them all.But from all the books I've read so far. I think other kids would like to read it, or read allof the books by Debbie Thorton I love her books. The characters are really curious there always trying to solve mysteries.

5-0 out of 5 stars Flying Foot Mania
I really liked this book because it was so athletic. My favorite part was when Eddy fell off of the tree and Angela grabbed his ankle before he hit the ground. They got free passes for karate lessons after Eddy fell. It is very rare to fall and not be caught. This is the#1 best book.
If I were any of you kids out there I would really, really, really, ... want to read this extremely good book. This book was so good that when I was reading the last chapter, I couldn't sleep until I finished. Read this book. You won't regret it. Everybody loves these Bailey School Kids books! THEY ROCK! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Another Winner
Cynthia Voigt created a bestselling series with the Tillerman family that began with "Homecoming" and ended with this book "Seventeen against The Dealer." Voigt's talented use of action and realistic dialogue to move the story along keeps readers turning the pages and longing for more. I became a Dicey fan early on for her courage and her spunk. Dicey, the whole Tillerman clan make excellent role models for today's young.
I recommend this book to all the young and young at heart.

Beverly J Scott Author of Righteous Revenge

4-0 out of 5 stars This book is the continues the Tillerman Family novel
"Seventeen Agasinst the Dealer" is the last book in the Tillerman Family novels. Dicey is faced with many problems and harships, but when they occur, Dicey's family and friends are always there to guide her. Cynthia Voigt has written this novel very descriptively, so that readers can understand the character's life more easily. At first, in "Homecoming", the reader didn't know that much information about the characters. In this book, he/she can now know more about the them. Because of that, the reader can put him/herself into the character's place and understand what they are feeling. Cynthia Voigt inspired me to go out into the world and make my own choices. She also has given me the idea to be all that I can be and do my best.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ahh...okay.
By now, the wonderfully three-dimensional characters such as Dicey and Jeff are beginning to wilt. I recommend this book to fans of Dicey because it is good to find out what happens, but this isn't a book worth reading more than two or three times. (the earlier ones in the series NEVER get old) It's too depressing, and the happy ending doesn't really make up for the depressing parts.

I've always been disappointed that Jeff Greene, who is possibly my favorite character in all of literary fiction, is never fleshed out beyond A Solitary Blue. The later Dicey books make him out to be some sort of young god. Kind of disappointing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected
Seventeen Against the Dealer was much better than I expected. I read this book to do a report on, and it is very easy to understand, very easy reading. I was able to relate to each of the characters, especially Dicey and Maybeth. This book had something for almost everyone. A little suspence, a little adventure, and a little romance. If you are like me, I can picture a grandmother refusing to be taken to a doctor, eventhough she is near death. If you have read any of Voigt's books, read this one. It does get better after the 2nd chapter!

5-0 out of 5 stars The final Tillerman saga
Cynthia Voight never ceases to amaze, in this closing book to the ongoing Tillerman saga. Dicey gets a hold of her life in this installment, but shows how growing older makes life less easy to control. I recommend this to anyone who has read the other Tillerman books and wants to finish it. I only wish it were longer, and gave the ending more room. Truly amazing in all aspects. It is just a good book. ... Read more

Abby Hayes tries to "Reach for the Stars" (as her mother calls it) to get the lead role of Wendy in her school's play "Peter Pan." Abby tells her friends, Jessica and Natalie, that she majorly wants the role of Wendy (or Peter Pan). "Let's practice after school," her friend Jessica suggested. The girls practiced until audition day. Briana, the snob of the grade who takes many kinds of lessons, gets the part of Wendy even though she tried out for Peter Pan. Natalie gets the role of Peter. Abby receives the job of . . . I really loved this excellent book. Now I can't wait to read the others in the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST IN THE SERIES!
I loved the third book in the series of Abby Hayes, called REACH FOR THE STARS. Ms.Bunder and Ms.Kantor are having a play, and it turns out to be "Peter Pan". Abby wants a big part, like Wendy or Captain Hook. But when she auditions, things go unexpected. Abby doesn't get the part she wanted-exactly. She gets a part that is the biggest and best and most important in the play. Everything turns out fine, and everyone is happy. That is, everyone expect Brianna :). This was a great book and I enjoyed because I love acting. Get a copy of this book soon!

3-0 out of 5 stars 3 1/2* A Nice Book of Friction
The Magic School Bus is an excellent science-based book collection, in which the indomitable Ms. Frizzle (wonderfully voiced by Lily Tomlin on the animated TV show) takes her grammar school kids on "Fantastic Voyage" like journeys in a shrinking school bus. . The bus takes the kids inside a book about Physics, where they enter a page about a baseball field with no friction. The kids learn about how throwing, running, and catching would work were there no friction.

Generally, the books are funny, have recognizable characters, and teach science principles in a clear, imaginative way. This book, however, was not as good as others I've read in the series: there is minimal use of "miniaturization" that makes the other books so clever and unique, the focus on friction is a bit too narrow, and the usually exciting escape from danger is on the tepid side. Still, its 30 pages contain bad puns, demonstrations of friction, and two friction experiments and the never-frazzled Ms. Frizzle. It's a mildly entertaining and informative book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Magic School Bus Plays Ball - a Book About Forces
I'm 8 years old, and I've read alot of Magic School Busbooks. This book explains all about friction, forces, pushing andpulling. The book takes place in a magic book where the kids play baseball with no friction. 5-0 out of 5 stars It's a quick read
This is my first time reading about the Bailey school kids, but I thought the book went by fast and was easy to understand. That is important when writing for younger kids. They can save the complex classics for when they're older.
The good thing about books like these, which include Harry Potter, the Hardy boys, etc., is that they are so readable that they can set patterns of reading that can stay with the child for years to come. Another series I recommend are the Rutabegga [sic] stories by Carl Sandburg, which has a simple way for kids and adults alike to remember the story long after it's been read. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GO ABBY HAYES!
In the second book in the series about Abby Hayes, Abby declares her independence by refusing to take Alex to the Fall Festival, just like she does every year. Abby has to prove herself worthy by acting more mature. She agrees to babysit Alex, so they go to the park. But something terrible happens to Alex. Fortunately, Abby thinks quickly and everything turns out fine and Abby gets to go to the fair with her friends. Buy this great book and every one of them in the series.

There are some weird grownups in Bailey City. But could the new bus driver who looks like a statue on top of the old library really be a living gargoyle? The Bailey School Kids are going to find out!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book ever!...
I gave this book five stars because it is a great book which has lot's of mysteries and it has very interesting things. This book is about a new bus driver. The Bailey school kid's think he is a gargoley and when they ask them to take them to the library he say's it's like a home to him. Unfortunately the library is going to get destroyed. When they get to the library they see the gargoyles in the roof they decide to go see in the roof and they see a gargoyle just like Mr.Stone the bus driver and they see Mr.Stones sunglasses. But when they find out that Mr.Stone is a gargoyle they fight for the library to stay. And the old library becomes a new library but with the gargoyle.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
This is my favorite Bailey School kids book because it reminds me of my bus driver. He's really old.My other favorite Bailey book isLeprechauns Don't Play Basketball.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Magic School Bus Takes A Dive
Ms. Frizzle takes her class on a field trip to the depths of the ocean to observe the coral reefs up close and learn life that found in reefs. The book, like all the other Magic School Bus books, teaches a lot, and has a moral. In this story the reader can learn a lot about the coral reefs of the sea, and what kind of creatures live there. The moral of this story is to work together to achieve your goals. Children between the ages of 4 and 6 would probably enjoy this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Magic School Bus explores coral reefs
As an adult, I was not expecting to enjoy learning a little bit about the coral reefs, but I really did.

While visiting with my nephew, he wanted to read this book. My mom(his Nana) went with him to the library and he picked out five of the Magic School Bus books. Takes a Dive was one of the books.

The illustrations by Bruce Degen were really cool. At one point in the book, the children turned into different sea creatures from anemones and hermit crabs to remoras and sharks. Degen definitely makes the book visually appealing.

Joanna Cole writes in a way that is easy to comprehend for children. I think that it is wonderful how she revolves the book around a multicultural class of about eight kids. Many different ethnicities in the class are represented.

Cole gives the child a chance to explore the coral reefs to discover what the reefs are about in a way that is neither condescending or patronizing.

Also, she throws in the concept of partnership. One of the kids, Wanda, is always wanting to know why she has to have Dorothy Ann as a partner. Through their exploration of the coral reef, Wanda and Dorothy Ann discover why they need to work together as partners.

Even though my nephew was four years old, I would say that this book is designed for an older child between the ages of 9 to 12, like they suggested here at amazon.com.

If you want to learn a little bit more about exploring coral reefs with your children, then this is the book for you.

I have never seen this on television, so I do not know how it would come across on television. But, if it is as good as this book, then it would be just as good. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Knowledge Is Power
As much as I like the Abby Hayes books, ever since the ninth book, when Jessica left, things have gone downhill. (that was also the time where the paper turned crappy) This book is an example of how it went downhill.
First of all, this book was too short. 97 pages, for a big thing like going to middle school! I was looking forward to buying this book, because I am entering middle school in September. I wanted to get advice on how to survive in middle school. Anne Mazer should have given more details about middle school. The night before Abby Hayes started it, she wrote 2 quotes to give her good luck. Nothing else. She didn't have any nightmares, wasn't sick to her stomach because of the next day, and she seemed to sleep well. If I were to rewrite the book, I would have given A LOT more detail about the night before the first day. I have read a lot of fictional books about this and it seems like the night before your first day of middle school is the hardest part of it.
Second of all, the book Sixth Grade Revealed wasn't very realistic. About popularity. People shouldn't care about what the so-called popluar people think! It isn't like they rule the school. The teachers do. If the popular people tease you (like Victoria did to Abby) you should either ignore them, make a humorus comeback, or tell an adult you trust if it goes too far. You shouldn't change your look and hair color and the other stuff on the list JUST to impress the popular people. Why should you care about what they think? Some of them are just freaks wearing cool clothes. (I'm not saying all popular people are like this. Only some popular people are)
The only thing realistic thing about this book is when Abby falls down on the way to health class, and loses her clip on earring, and then Victoria starts teasing her. That can happen.
(oh, and don't do what she got done at the mall because victoria teased her. It won't help anything!)
I love the Abby Hayes series, but this book isn't exactly helpful in any way. It was too short and unrealistic. I would recommend going to the bookstore and reading this book there without buying it, but don't waste $5.99 buying the book.

P.S. Actually, the part where Abby's friends write tips about the sixth grade is realistic too.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pathetic
I really wanted to give it a one, but I'm giving Anne Mazer the benefit of the doubt.
Abby is going into sixth grade. She is excited when she finds a book called Sixth Grade Revealed. it is filled with bad remarks about 6th grade. So Abby changes her entire look so everyone will like her. BAD MESSAGE ALERT!! She's teaching girls to change themselves just to fit in! And the 'Terrific Times of Julie Hymes?" That. is. Sad. can she be any more obvious? She doesn't even try to be inconpsicous! And Abby Hayes is not Realistic or funny! it is a joke! And i am really, really disgusted.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Abby Hayes book yet!
Abby's finally graduating from fifth grade! First, she and Hannah pick out the perfect graduation outfits. Once summer's come, Abby enjoys a relaxing summer, taking swimming lessons, and just hanging out. However, her relaxing summer is disrupted when her mom's college friend, Laurie comes to stay for a visit. With Laurie comes her daughter, Wynter. Laurie's rules for bringing up Wynter? Wynter cannot eat fats, sweets, wheats, or meats, and Wynter must have CHOICES. (Which means Wynter can choose whether or not to change her clothes or take a bath or not... Wynter doesn't change her clothes OR take baths very often) Even worse, Laurie wants Abby to babysit Wynter, who turns out to be very difficult. Will Wynter and Laurie ruin Abby's relaxing summer?

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST ONE YET!!!
(...)This was the first super special for Abby Hayes and it was terrific! The best in the series! Abby is graduating from 5th grade, finally, and there is a funny joke saying that Abby feels like she has been in 5th grade forever and its true, too! Abby's siblings all have plans for the summer but Abby wants to "take things as they come" and just do whatever she wants. Her parents make her take a swimming lesson and she has a lot of fun taking the lessons. Then, one of Abby's Mom's college friends, Laurie, and her daughter, Wynter with a Y haha, come to town for a visit, they both get on almost everybody's nerves. They aren't polite and they don't eat anything that Mr. and Mrs.Hayes cook, even the delightful "Welcome" meal. Plus, Laurie expects Abby to babysit Wynter for a few weeks, with NO PAY! She has to watch Wynter for 8-9 hours a day. Its a little better when Hannah, Abby's best friend, helps, but then Hannah takes a "leave of absence". To find out what happens, read this fantastic book! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars a series of good books which are interesting
I read a good book called The Magic School Bus Gets All Dried Up. The author of the Magic School bus is Joanna Cole. My favorite character is Ms. Frizzle. Ms. Frizzle is the type of teacher I would like to have because she is energetic and fun. I think I would learn alot of stuff if I were in her class because of all those field trips they go on. This is an educational book for children because there is alot of information you can learn. Sometimes they go to the zoo, beach, and other places. My favorite part of the book is when the bus shrinks into a small size so the class can have a closer look at things. These books are also a tv show. This is why I like this book, so go out and read it.
